As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Dessert Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
This pack includes: Marshmallow Treat, Smore, Brie Cheese, Cheesecake, Cream and Cookies, Creme de Menthe, Graham Cracker, Greek Yogurt, Milk, Red Velevet, Smooth Vanilla, Toffee, Vanilla Bean, Whipped Cream, and White Chocolate.
#This week's flavor is... VANILLA ICE CREAM!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested!
>If something you want to see be the Flavor of the Week isn't listed among upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

In case you missed it, last week's flavor was Red Raspberry
#Next week's flavor will be: TURKISH TOBACCO

I know it isn't exactly a hot take, but the ice cream trinity is such a perfect lazy plug and play base that it's hard to really see much use in fighting for an alternative in most cases.
It reads, to my palate, as something of a Ben and Jerry's style, high fat content velvety soft vanilla ice cream and can be taken in a heap of different directions almost effortlessly.
I’m just here for the Brie Cheese, S’more, and Vanilla Bean.
It took me a moment to get this...😉
I still didn’t get it
> I still didn’t get it
This pack includes: Marshmallow Treat, Smore, Brie Cheese, Cheesecake, Cream and Cookies, Creme de Menthe, Graham Cracker, Greek Yogurt, Milk, Red Velevet, Smooth Vanilla, Toffee, Vanilla Bean, Whipped Cream, and White Chocolate.
My ice cream is easy, add your favorite coolants if you want it cold.
5% LB Vanilla Ice Cream + 2% TFA Vanilla Swirl
Or
3% TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream + 1.5% TFA Vanilla Swirl
These three flavors you should already have. Mix in a fruit or whatever, turn into a smoothie, or a milkshake.
I mentioned something similar in another thread for someone looking for ice cream. Their expectations though are far too high to understand that you aren’t going to get close to vaping a real ice cream flavor.
His mouth was broken. You can’t help these people
May I suggest a Tropical Ice Cream in these trying times? One of my favorite recipes ever, I literally can’t stop. I think about it, I dream about it, I’ll always remember it when the nicotine supply dries up.
I tend to use ice creams as accents instead of a base.
So far I've used LB vic, TFA vbic and TFA VS. I keep forgetting the Hangsen one that's part of the Trinity every single time I order from river.
Will there be a pepper sympathizer on the panel to weed out the problematic ones for us broken people?
Is it possible to be an in-between pepper taster? I've had some mixes come out with a mild pepper off note, and others come out great, but I've never had a mix be outright unvapeable.
On a tangential note, I recently mixed Ella's Vanilla Milkshake, simply known as "Vanilla Milkshake" on ATF with some swaps and found it quite good! I subbed in Black Honey for the Milk and Honey. It's weird, but it works for me. I want to like M&H, I really do, but I keep getting grossness in nearly every mix I make with it. I also subbed CAP VBIC in, but I can't find my notes to remember the level.
Gonna pick up HS French Vanilla Icecream in my next order so I can try out the trinity and see how it stacks.
Dico/zany gets weird off MnH too. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign :)
i am like you, perhaps. medium pepper taster but, i am sad to say, i fear it is only medium as the situation develops and worsens. as a side note, I am thinking of putting it to my advantage and using it in a bacco so i can add a wicked pepper note.
EDIT: NOPE utter crap, don't mix it. Not even sure how these flavors turned out so wrong together. Live and Learn LOL
It's a steeping (so fingers crossed) If you mix it just remember it's steeping and you were warned ahead of time LOL
TOC'S Soft Serve
0.50% Crisp Waffle (SSA)
2.00% French Vanilla Ice Cream (VTA)
0.50% Super Sweet (CAP)
2.00% Vanilla Ice Cream (Gelato Vaniglia) (FA)
3.00% Vanilla Ice Cream (LB)

Flavor total: 8%
Did I mention I like SWEET vapes?
LB VIC was my first SFT/ flavor note, so it has a special spot in my heart. I also individually love all 3 components of the Ice Cream Trinity, together they're out of this world. I recently bought River Vanilla Milkshake based on positive feedback & can't wait to try it, hopefully I can report back with feedback before the end of the week.
perhaps my favorite recipe i was ever a part of making was There can only be one Hetch: A churro and ice cream saga.
The story goes: there was a new mixer named Hetch who had gone all deep dive but had fallen prey to many a newb mistake by ordering 2 ounces of flavors you would never have a need for 2 ounces of (like cap super sweet!) that had popped in the diy e_juice discord. u/eyemakepizza of ice cream trinity fame, talked him into cancelling the order and we helped him get on track for some great flavors and some recipes he would enjoy. But, one thing lingered. He wanted a churros and ice cream recipe for his wife. After putting out the word on a collaborative effort to craft this mix for him in this post right here, that evening the Discord in the #live-mixing channel had many many people chime in ideas to craft this recipe. It's one of my favorites of all time to have participated in developing. I was mostly the taster testing people's ideas since i really didnt know what i was doing then (or now!) and it was just exciting to see everyone come together to make one mixer('s wife) happy. It represents everything I hold dear about this community: sharing of ideas, taking the time to help a newcomer, and just having fun!

that said, ice cream is ok to me. I get pepper from lb vic and just recently picked up the ssa suggested to me by u/mLnikon because i am a flavor whore-der.
I really need to try some kind of vanilla ice cream flavors. I've never tried them. Maybe on my next flavors order, I'll get some and try to do a simple one 😁 sounds good
Look at the trinity. It’s a great base to build on.
I've been trying off and on to make a plain vanilla ice cream, the more 'gourmet' type with actual vanilla bean in it. But I havent had much success. I think I'm a bit broken when it comes to VIC and maybe vanilla in general. Lots of VIC flavours have the same vanilla that I find unpleasantly artificial and astringent. Or they have notes that don't belong in a straight VIC. The ice cream trinity unfortunately has that same astringency to me. Anyone know of a VIC with a more natural vanilla note? Or any other suggestions?
I don't have many dessert or bakery type flavors and I'm afraid to use them. I haven't had much success with them, at this point. I've been mixing for just over a year, now, and have several fruity flavors I'm happy with. I'd love to try out those FLV flavors!
I can't wait for the week of Sept 14-20. Cucumber is a favorite of mine. I would love to see those recipes!!
One of the few recipes I always have a batch steeping in the closet is Rin’s blueberry ice cream , flv cream and a dash of tpa vanilla swirl is enough ice cream for me.
Nice timing for ice creams.
Now we get all the information just a few months before we need our ice cream recipes ready for the beginning of summer.
I stopped looking further into VIC after the release of the holy VIC trinity, but im excited to see what new flavors are out there.
Maybe CNV vanilla pudding could be a great addition to a straight VIC recipe, since i loved its flavor pack style vanilla aroma, which often lack for me in VBIC layers or recipes.
On the other hand that might be because im more on the vanilla mute end of the spectrum.
BTW. Why the hell is brie cheese in the dessert flavor pack :X
What is Dracula's favorite ice cream?
Veinnilla🤪
Thank god I’m not a pepper taster. TFA VBIC I put that shit in everything lol. No I really enjoy Ice cream trinity. You can mix it with any of the fruit trinities and make a delicious mix. My go to is mango and blackberry ice cream mixes. As always looking forward to the show.
Gahhhh ICE CREAM how did I miss this! I'm going to binge read all the notes and let my brain inhale all that goodness. I've been making a spreadsheet lately (sorta like Flavour Facts) using it as a place to store all my own notes, it has really got me appreciating those who made the original flavour facts - many many hours surely went into that 🙌Anyway, bit late but here are some quick thoughts on flavours I've used for or with ice cream.
LB VIC
The king of ice creams. We all know and love it don't we? Buttery, rich, smooth, delicious. I've been using this lately as low as 1% to add texture/mf for example with VTA Vanilla Ice Cream @ 3-4% I feel this flavour has been covered well enough before now, no revelations here.
VTA VIC
Would have to be my favourite all-rounder. Has a distinctive ice cream feel to it. Akin to soft serve. I use this instead of TPA Vanilla Swirl. I just prefer it. It's clean, milky and sweet, slightly creamy, mixes well. I use this as an accent for milks, chocolates, frostings, sweets, anywhere where a light, milky sugary vanilla top note fits i will often use this at 0.5 - 1.0%. I like to use it as a main flavour 2.0 - 3.75%.
SSA Ice Cream
A classic ice cream flavour, compliments SSA ICV, both hit on the exhale but this one can be a bit drying, can be quite easily fixed with some OOO Cream (Milky) or similar. I have found Ice Cream Vanilla easier to work with overall.
SSA Ice Cream Vanilla
Ice Cream, Essence of. Brilliant in it tastes of ice cream on the exhale vs. another generic sweet cream flavour. Not a standalone flavour for me but makes a great accent and can improve other ice cream flavours. I find the flavour of this is mostly on the exhale, which can make it great as an ice cream accent i.e. coke float or fruity mix. Love this flavour. The vanilla is similar to that in VTA Vanilla Ice Cream (still my favourite ice cream flavour) bright, authentic.
Lacking mouthfeel but no big deal given I'm mainly using it to accent other ice/creams. It is not drying like SSA Ice Cream is IMO. These are some clean-cut flavours with zero off notes for me - none at all. The SSA ice creams are lacking in overall mouthfeel but make up for it with accurate and authentic flavours.
Use at 0.75 - 1.5%
MB Thick VIC
Have not used this a heap, but it adds a very creamy mouthfeel, real buttery, *almost* waxy but it's not in a bad way. It is sort of like the texture of MB White Chocolate which is fairly accurate to a White Chocolate. I use it as a textural additive than a main flavour.
VTA FVIC
Rich, buttery, texture is right on with ice cream. I think I'd use this over MB Thick Ice Cream. Reminds me of a buttermilk ice cream. I used it at an accent at 0.5 - 0.6%.
VTA Vanilla Cream
Just another banger from VTA. Vanilla Cream, I like to use this with fruitier vanillas and actual fruits. It goes well with Cream Cheese Icing [See: Hooch (SensoryOverload)] It works well on it's own. What's that VIC recipe where this is the sole ingredient? Whatever it is it just works
VTA Sweet Cream
I will often use this in creamy mixes where I want to thicken it up, which is pretty often. I notice it will mute out some darker sweet notes like brown sugar, or maple when used above 0.5% but often this isn't a problem in vanilla recipes. This is another that is highly praised for good reason. Use at 1%, have pushed it to 1.75% with success.
WF Vanilla Cream Extra
Good for rounding off soft vanilla flavours @ 0.75 - 1.0%
HS FVIC / HS Ice Cream - I get off notes :<
FA VIC & WF VIC (SC) - Similar to, but not as good as VTA VIC, I'd just use VTA VIC.
TPA VBIC & Vanilla Swirl - Not a fan of TPA VBIC. Not because of the pepper but since I tried the Milkshake line in the white bottles way back when, completely put me off it for life. Vanilla Swirl I can handle, I just don't use it all that much anymore.
CAP & CNV - Not enough use to comment, CNV's use it lower than you would normally mix CNV flavours, it seems to be a bit stronger than the rest of their range, that's just my opinion.
Noob here! Any recommendations on a Pistachio Icecream recipe? Love the thread, can’t wait to contribute one day!
My favorite is River Supply’s Vanilla Milkshake which is McDonald’s soft serve.
I just bought this one, excited to try it! I bet Milkshake is probably a different FOTW but idk that for sure
It’s a soft serve ice cream. Just trying to get it a mention
As I write this I think on how Awesome of a group this is and for all of us to share ideas, recipes, and help the new recruits. Thank you to All that have contributed over the years and a Big Thank you to Wayne (The Wayniac) Walker for building this structure.
Who is Wayne?
Since LB is shutting down, I ordered 3 liters of LB Vanilla Ice Cream. I'm shipping one of them out to a friend, and with 2 liters of this, I need this FotW.
What? They are? Bull City is staying open due to Food Flavors as well as Beer supplies. I understand that BCF has a wide array of items with many different concentrate companies backing them but DAMN. I received my order from LB yesterday and glad I did. I purchased my Nic and a 60ml of VIC. I now have to reorder and go for the gold on the Gallon of VIC. This is a SAD day.
they're not shutting down, misinformation incites panic, you're good for now. I feel like even with nic not shipping the DIY industry will probably have a pretty great year or so with all of us stockpiling anyway lol. I've been wrong before but we also have to remember that many of these companies supply commercial juice makers (some of which have submitted their PMTAs etc) & have wholesale accounts meaning they'll still be serving & supplying businesses.
Whoa definitely missed this. How soon till they're shutting down?
