FLAVOR NOTES III - I won again, and so can you!

This is the place to share your knowledge and opinions on the building blocks of DIY - FLAVORS! Please share your Flavor Notes with the Community and take the time to read the Notes from other mixers. Respond with comments, questions, and opposing views. The discussion will make the Notes more informative and valuable.

When you post your Flavor Notes you . . .

  • help the DIY Community by adding to the collective knowledge base
  • help yourself by getting to know your flavors
  • have a chance to WIN A PRIZE!

  • I won the FOTW drawing again, and don't want to be greedy so I'm passing it along.
  • Flavor Notes is a good concept - if you agree, please support it by posting your notes and responding to the notes from other mixers
  • Flavor Notes are for flavors you know well. Think of Flavor Notes as a condensed form of a Flavor Review.
  • Don't worry about how many reviews a flavor already has - we don't have YOUR opinion of it.
  • I have been and will continue to annoy TeslaDelMar by telling him that something like this needs to be included in the redesign of ATF - the notes on ELR suck and the ones on ATF are (mostly) empty
  • I know what I've created is NOT perfect - please tell me how to make it better.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
"Smooth, dark, roasted coffee beans with a creamy, sweet, caramel and whiskey note tobacco flavour. Full-bodied, very aromatic flavour."

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪   VERY CLOSE TO EXPECTATIONS

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
This is a very unique flavor. The coffee note is the main note but there is a really complex supporting cast that plays on the palate through the finish. The tobacco note is barely present to me on the inhale more like a smooth dark background upon which this lovely creamy rich coffee note, with delicious hints of chocolate, break out on all the way through the finish. It's sweet but not too sweet, like you sweetened it with dark raw sugar, the kind with the molasses added back in. I love this flavor. I have yet to taste anything like it. If you are a fan of FA ry4, this may be for you. I can see this being used in a number of ways. I tested it at 3% and solo, I can finish this tester and be happy. I could see kicking this up a notch to 5% (just a guess) to have it hold up and add all kinds of stuff to it. For a coffee flavor, I'd rate this one of the best I've had, easily. For a bacco, maybe a bit lacking and I really don't care. It's rich and complex, desserty and lovely. I could see using this solo, dark tobacco blends, adding to golden blends, as a hint with light blends. This is a rare find in my book. Only reason I didnt give the + was because the bacco was a bit lacking. Which is just as well so now I can add whatever I want and use this in a zillion of ways. Edit: Forgot to mention, I really got no whiskey note. I'm assuming that's what added to the complexity of the finish and maybe I just used it too low for it to not meld in with the creaminess. There's a lot going on here and more tests need to be done!

AFAIK only carried by Flavor Monks direct as of 2/17/21. I hope that changes soon.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
    Tobacco with Caramel

  • ACCURACY :   ❓ ❓   UNSURE WHAT IT SHOULD TASTE LIKE

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
The concentrate smells... unique, I can't compare it.

The flavor when vaped is interesting. I've vaped it at ~8%, with 2 drops of added espresso flavoring (in 30 ml of liquid, VG55/45). It tastes... interesting. Shake-N-Vape, it tastes pretty bad - it's got this "musty" feeling to it, sort of reminiscent of wet socks. It's this.. bitterness. But underneath that bitterness are nice caramel, chocolate tones. I would hazard saying that the "sock" feeling is an off note, because the bitterness itself is nice.

I found that after a 3 day steep my mix tasted a lot better. Not great yet, but much better. I'm interested to see how it will taste given some time.

The inhale and exhale are smooth. Kind of warm feeling..

Overall, I'd say this flavor probably works well as a base or primary flavor, with other flavors added at lower concentration to try and bring out "secondary notes" in the flavor.

I wouldn't add cooling agents (WS-23/koolada/etc.); the flavor feels "warm" and I feel that the coldness from the agents would feel contradictory.

I found that mixing my unsteeped RY4D liquid with some grape flavoured premix made it taste a bit like shisha. It's actually pretty nice. Would probably go pretty well mixed at higher VG, vaped out of a good RTA.

Update: After 5 more days of steeping, most of the "musty" note has all but disappeared. It's a lot more pleasant now; smooth and neutral, with this unique flavor to it. It's still a little musty, but much better than before. I am guessing that this will improve even more over time. Rating changed from B+ to A.

It is noteworthy that this flavor now feels quite dry in the mouth; I like it.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Tastes bad shake-n-vape'd. Give it time to steep.

I want to rate this flavor higher, but I'm yet to experience it without the mustiness. This feels like a complex flavor.

Update: After 5 more days of steeping, this tastes way better. Nice, dry, neutral, with a unique flavor to it.

DISCLAIMER:

I'm a total noob. The espresso mix described was my first mix ever. This is the first flavor I've really explored; I'm comparing it to the experience from vaping pre-mixes.

Exploring flavors is what makes DIY fun. But be careful - you'll catch the fever and the next thing you know you're buying a bigger house to hold your flavor stash. (hehehe) Thanks for contributing!

!RemindMe 5 days

;)

I will! Might be tricky to source where I'm at (Australia).

I'm really just after a kind of.. savoury flavor? Not in a "steak" way but more in a "something that goes nice with coffee and a croissant" kinda way, more mellow, less "vape juice"-ey.

I actually found that my (unsteeped) RY4D mix sort of hits the spot. I'm excited to see how it will taste after steeping :D

Ry4d is kind of blandish to me even after a few days steeping. You maybe want that. I’ll have to think if something comes to mind for me here

Tasted just like a Peach Gummy Candy. Nothing much more to say on that

🔹 Comments 🔹
This is a wonderful concentrate that is spot-on for a Peach Gummy. Got it for The Ringer and absolutely love it! That recipe was a little off of the mark for me so I adjusted some percentages and it was perfect. At the 3% it was used at, it was so horribly dry that it ruined the experience for me. I dropped it down to 1.5% while increasing the other peaches and it was incredible. Pairs extremely well in a sort of Peach Gummy Trinity with FA Peach White and TFA Peach Juicy

  • TARGET FLAVOR
According to Flavorah, “Full notes of citrus and blended yogurt, can be used well with creams or fruits. Not ringing citrus, so using a vanilla or cream will bring out the smoothie, and anything citrus will cause the fruits to pop. An excellent and highly concentrated tool for crafting a fresh ADV. FLV Smoothie Base has a noticeable yogurt vibe to it with just a hint of lemon zest in the background. You won't get that butyric rank that comes with many yogurt flavors currently available so you will be sure to enjoy this flavor. If you desire more body or thickness try mixing it with our Cream or FLV Vanilla Pudding flavors.”

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 ⚪ ⚪ ⚪ ⚪   TASTES NOTHING LIKE IT

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
This tastes nothing like a smoothie, unless that smoothie was drank, shit out, drank again, puked back up, and then you went in for another round.

🔹 Comments 🔹
I really, really tried to like this flavor. I tried it anywhere from 0.25-3%, anywhere from SNV to 14 day steep. I hate it. At high percentages everything is intensified. At low percentages it tastes like watered down puke, which is arguably worse. Bought it for Ml Nikon’s Tropical Smoothie and the second I tasted it I could swear I had just puked in my mouth a little right as I took the hit because the taste of vomit was that bad. Not to mention, I got horrible throat hit, intense dryness, and the worst mouthfeel I’ve ever felt. The vapor hitting my tongue tastes and feels like I just threw up in my mouth. 0/10 would not recommend

Oh boy, you describe it so awful that I want to try how awful it is, but not going to buy it of course. Wondering why flavorah would put a flavor like this on the market though. Though we are all agree that everybody taste different. Maybe there is puke lover somewhere heh.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
WF Cookie Butter for some added butter, because why not, and solidifies the texture and cookie agenda. I add FW Sweetener or CAP Super Sweet. All in all its a wonderfully rich, vanilla custard with tones of cookie that is super simple. Amazing for a base to add additions to.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴   EXACTLY LIKE THE DESCRIPTION

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Tastes like the label, creamy buttery cookie. But maybe more Butter Biscuit than Butter Cookie. You could easily go either way if you wanted. Delicious with a nice sweetness and butter right off the shake. Not dry or harsh at all. After a few days I get gooey butter/sweet mouthfeel. Like CAP Sugar Cookie but not as sweet and more chewy/gooey. Chewy and Sweet Butter Cookie with a creamy custard note. Starting to also remind me of a light INW Biscuit that isn’t dryish.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Smell test - Sweet, Cream, Vanilla, & Custard without eggs. I could vape this solo, and getting a faint spice note I don’t have a description for that will probably just get bullied in a mix. Use to support biscuits, cookies, or pie crusts. I can see this going well with custards, chocolates, creams, vanilla, cakes, milks, caramels, and toffee. Anything bakery. For a touch of butter accent 0.25% - 1%. As a dominant note 1% - 2%. Solo 2.5% - 3%.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
This perfect blend of fresh berries with earthy undertones will provide the perfect balance of fruit, acidity and sweetness to any recipe.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪   VERY CLOSE TO EXPECTATIONS

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Day 55, Nudge 22. Nice red-berry-ish flavor. Somewhat full, juicy, and tart. Some harshness. Strength is medium-low here at 1.5% and probably has room to up to 2% or a touch higher. Full, thick body in the exhale, solid clouds out of this. Almost like a cream and I want to say I'm picking up a slight dairy or creamyness in the background. Slightly reminiscent of red food dye flavor. The currant part is this funky-ish grainyness that reminds me of eating watermelon. Medium-low sweetness.

🔹 Comments 🔹
While vaping this I first wondered how the red tartness would pair with cranberry. Also thought about how it might work with the blueberry trinity. Then I wondered about using it for watermelon body along with cap cantaloupe. The obvious pairing would be a red licorice flavor. Not much in common with FA Black Currant. 10ml done and wish I had a bit more but at 2% and with less steep maybe.

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Excellent mix of honeydew and cantaloupe, with ratio depending on the strength you use it at.

🔹 Comments 🔹
I guess I got the intended profile wrong because I detect absolutely 0 watermelon in this flavor. This was a bit disappointing, but when you consider it as a honeydew/cantaloupe flavor, it’s excellent. At lower percentages, I get 100% Honeydew from it. As I go up, more cantaloupe starts to shine through until Cantaloupe is all I can detect. I use it in my Huck Your Melon recipe and it works sooooo well

Tastes spot on like a Toasted Marshmallow, minus the crunchy skin on the outside. I’m not sure how exactly one would get a crunchy aerosol but hey! There’s WS-23 and FLV Heat so who knows. I love this flavor.

🔹 Comments 🔹
I bought this flavor for Toasted and it performs its job there as a cream base perfectly, and it has so much more potential. I’m currently working on a s’mores recipe and just need my chocolates to come in. This will be the star of the show!

  • TARGET FLAVOR
Bourbon flavoring concentrate formulated from the ground up for e-liquid manufacturing and creating DIY ejuice recipes. Oaky American bourbon with a smooth finish. Adds a wonderful smoke and oak to many flavors. This is an essential change agent for that juice you have that is missing something... Something special, like an aged barrel of kentucky's finest. - - MIXING NOTE: This flavor is unfiltered and can contain natural particulate. It is ok... just shake well.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪   VERY CLOSE TO EXPECTATIONS

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
If you can somehow re-distill bourbon in an attempt to amp up the flavor and alcohol, this is the product of it. When you open the bottle and take a whiff, it just punches you right in the face. When you mix it at 2-3% it is still very boozy, but you get a lot more of these insanely rich, shockingly accurate, creamy bourbon notes. Steeping just mellows out the alcohol punch a little, but doesn't change the flavor drastically. I can't see it being used as a background note or accent, simply because of how aggressive it is.

It plays really well with vanillas, creams, ice creams, custards, and anything along that line. Plays a great role mixed with TFA Kentucky Bourbon between 1:1 and 3:2. This flavor is unfiltered. In the bottle I've got, it is the color of used motor oil, like I've seen lighter stouts, and a decent amount of sediment does collect at the bottom.

You're right - it's a top shelf flavor. And you should try it with stone fruit - apple, pear, peach . . . I love the "earthiness" it brings to the party. Add some spice - maybe Liquid Amber - YUM

by GormyGormover 4 years ago

No way! I never would have thought of comparing it with fruit like that. I'll give it a shot when I get the chance. I've mostly just explored the classic combinations with bourbon, using it just up front in my face with a ton of creaminess behind it all.

I was really excited about the Peach Rings aspect of it, and was ultimately disappointed as it tastes just like a sweeter, sharper peach with no gumminess. I use this in a duo with TFA Peach Juicy 1:1 at 1.5% in pretty much any recipe I make that calls for peach.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 ⚪ ⚪ ⚪   MISSES THE MARK

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
It’s a fairly thick yoghurt base that’s citrusy and lemony. It’s tart and tangy like real lemons but I think it falls short of yoghurt drink. This is really disappointing for me because I like yoghurt drinks IRL but the lemon is still good, sweet, and realistic. There’s different ways you can still use this flavor and isn’t harsh at all. Off-Flavors: Lemons.

🔹 Comments 🔹
At 2% - 3% is good for a mix. But it’s still lemon. I have taken this all the way to 6% without any problems.

I bought this hoping/ thinking/ hearing that it tasted somewhat like those Japanese fermented probiotic drinks called Yakult. Have you tried Yakult to possibly refer to? They're not like traditional yogurt, but rather a thin, tartish (kinda like plain greek yogurt but a bit more tart than sour), liquidy drink. I love them & I'm hoping this tastes similarly bc when I heard "yoghurt drink" I thought of Yakult.

EDIT: found this flavor description of Yakult online: "It’s made by fermenting skim milk with a particular strain of bacteria, resulting in a distinct sweet citrusy flavor"

your choice of flavor pack?!? u/Flavorah is such a supporter of this sub and diy vaping through encouraging sharing of information that it's hard not to be impressed. And Odie, it isn't greedy to keep the PEAResto! But, it is mighty generous of you to pass it along. I hope people share what they know, if even for a chance to win! thanks for organizing this and all you do behind the scenes.

I had always heard from many people that Bryson was a good guy. But now that I've met him - I can tell you that those people are wrong. Bryson is a GREAT guy. The original prize was only the Pearesto. Chatting with Bryson after I won is when the Flavor Pack got added. Top notch organization.

Maybe the contest should award double entries in the drawing for Notes on FLV flavors in their honor! Cuz in addition to supporting the Community, they make some damn fine flavors. Whenever we build the Flavor Hall of Fame - I can guarantee that FLV Rich Cinnamon is a first-ballot inductee.

by isuamadogover 4 years agoRenaissance Mixer

One of the things that I’ve liked about what I’ve seen is that they give away their own products every week, but did it in a way that supports the mixers themselves sharing their knowledge — not just flavorah specific. That shows me they support the community as a whole. I’ve said it before but they single handedly revived the FotW thread by encouraging participation. For them/him/ they to do it every week, twice a week now, is real commitment to supporting the sub generating information which new mixers can use about all flavors and maybe possibly beat this addiction to smoking that it seems the government wants people to do so they can have tax monies. Vaping saved my life. Diy made it affordable. Flavorah made it tasty!

It’s your contest, but I like the principle of non favoritism. Many companies have great flavors that can help an end user I would hate to see get overlooked if we skewed results by favoring one company, regardless of how well deserved it is!!!

  • TARGET FLAVOR
from the website: "A versatile, nutty, light tobacco flavour with hints of caramel and toasted notes. Medium-bodied with a balanced flavour."

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴   EXACTLY LIKE THE DESCRIPTION

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
This flavor is exactly as described: basically presents as a nutty forward flavor with strong toasted notes hints of caramel and a light bacco back.

🔹 Comments 🔹
I might disagree with the 'balanced' assertion in the description. I tested it at 3% which seems to work for FM Tobaccos; I would NOT use it at suggested %'s on the website! At 3% I felt the nut was way too much and the bacco not nearly enough, the toasted notes a hair too high and the caramel just a hair too low. In all, I rated it a B because you could use this as a featured flavor if nutty bacco is your thing, but I see this more as a supporting flavor where a toasted nutty accent would be desired. This strikes me as a nut forward RY4 (in the sense that it's less about the bacco and more about the accents -- didnt have a strong vanilla taste if it has one at all) and could easily be used in a recipe where you might want something a little different than the muddy background darkness that TPA RY4D presents as. Maybe not as useful in bakeries the same way that RY4D can slide in easily. While I could see this with a little Soho or just the right vanilla/caramel/tobacco accents to complete it, I can also see this as the accent to a bacco blend that needed some toasty notes from 1-2%. The latter being the direction I am leaning at this moment.

As far as I know, Chefs carries it as well as the FM website.

Nice! I found it pretty full flavored at 3% but I kinda want to push it to 5-6% just to see if that ‘whiskey’ note gets more pronounced. It’s pretty good overall, needs to mix with other stuff, but I think it will play very very nicely. Tag me if you ever make anything with it, please! I’m probably too bogged down right now to make something with it yet.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
Manufacturer: "White temptation" (O_o) - Judging by name I expected this crunchy vanilla meringue that melts in your mouth.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪   VERY CLOSE TO EXPECTATIONS

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Right from the bottle smells like meringue. Taste like meringue too but more on a bit burned sugar, almost caramel side. Mixed at 1% first and didn't gelt much effect except the juice got a bit velvety soft. At first thought it is because it is 0 nic and no other flavors but when mixed at 2.5% and tried again - it is the flavor. It is very good to add delicious fluffy mouthfeel to your juice but almost non existent as a separate flavor and needs to be supported. Overall it does taste like a meringue but flavor is pretty week at concentrations I used it at and after 2.5% meringue taste got introduced with burnt sugar note which is not really accurate for a meringue.

🔹 Comments 🔹
The concentrate is easy to get, pretty sure all major suppliers in US selling it. No odd colors, no off notes, pretty decent flavor. As a single flavor juice not really applicable to me due to light taste but as an additive and supported by some creams and custard will push this velvety mouth feel forward. Very useful tool. In the mixes I would recommend starting at 1% and going up to 2% as needed. Past that doesn't really improve the mouthfeel but might add a little burnt sugar note to your juice.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
Smooth and exotic, this tropical flavor seems obscure, but to those who know it has become a staple. Reminiscent of bubble tea with floral perfume and a sweet kick. Lychee e-liquidd with some blueberry or watermelon will change your life like the first time you heard "Free Fallin" by Tom Petty.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴   EXACTLY LIKE THE DESCRIPTION

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Well yes, I like lychee flavors, haven't tried all of them but thanks to "Noted" - I don't have to. Very juicy, sweet, vibrant flavor. Can be used on it is own for some cause there is nothing really wrong with it but for the majority of people will probably be a bit too floral to leave it alone. Versatile, goes good with any fruits but due to potency can easily jump on the main note. I personally taste a bit of citrus (as a feeling mostly) and slight Kiwi in it, with a unrecognizable but nice floral tones to it. One of my favorite flavors to work with.

🔹 Comments 🔹
No odd looks, off-notes. Pairs amazingly well with any fruits and berries, can bring slight juicy floral mambo-jumbo to your mix. If you like INW Dragonfruit - you will like this one too. Btw they go well together, did I mentioned? In the mixes I personally prefer it around 0.6-0.75%. At 0.25% is probably will be bullied by stronger flavors. Recommended to start from 0.5% in your mix and adjust by taste.

  • TARGET FLAVOR
With its sweet and succulent flavor and its floral aroma, Lychee makes for an exotic flavor mild enough to be a delicious addition to your DIY recipe. Or, try Lychee with other exotic fruit flavors, with beverages, or with citrus flavors in a fruit-themed recipe

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪ ⚪   CLOSE - BUT COULD BE BETTER

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
The description on flavor jungle says it is mild enough. It is not. It is a strong flavor. When you first smell it you might not even like it but give it a chance. It is potent so I am glad I started low. At 1% is strong enough for a single flavor. Very sweet. Has some floral notes to it, but nothing perfumy or unpleasant. Sweetness at some degree resembles honey. Pretty thick flavor, has body to it. Syrupy, candy'ish mouthfeel, which mellows a bit with steeping but doesn't go away completely. Hard to describe the flavor and not repeating @Foment_life comment, that it tastes like a Japanese jello like candy. It does and if you tried it (the one in the pinky-red pack, soft, colorless candies) then you know what this flavor is taste like. If not - there is no easy way to say. It is bright, a bit sour, honey-like sweet, mildly floral and maybe just a bit dark.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Not the easiest flavor to find, I found it on FlavorJungle only, so sourcing it can be a problem. In the mixes I would start this flavor at 0.25-0.5% no more and see how it works. Will go well with berries, and fresh flavors (like Cactus). Can add a candy base to anything but there is no obvious way to deal with all other notes of this flavor, which is not a bad thing actually. It can bully other flavors with ease to the point that at 2% it will over-power everything in the mix, except another bully maybe. To summarize - a very good flavor but not the easiest to work with. Like it, mixing with it, if you like weird flavors like I do - a must have.

Smells like a strawberry without a sour note to it. Taste like it smells, except the extra sweetness adds to the candy feeling. Taste exactly like a hard candy but not jolly rancher, rather like the cheap cloudy strawberry hard candies. It is not bad but it is not special by any means. If I step away from thoughts about candy I would say it has some resemblance of a baked strawberry in a sugary syrup.

🔹 Comments 🔹
BCF has a concentrate available, so pretty ok to source. Flavor is pretty sweet so works well to sweeten anything that needs some additional strawberry to it. Will go well to build a profile for a milkshake, creams and cheesecakes. So overall good bakery juices additive. Would start from 2% in a mix. At 4% gets pretty sweet and strong but still no off-notes. Solid flavor and as I mentioned - good for strawberry mutes.

This flavor is awesome. It came as a special request from a customer in Brazil and even though the name takes some practice, the flavor notes will be almost familiar as they blend some of the most pleasing tropical notes imaginable. This flavor can stand alone, or be used with other tropical cousins like cherimoya, jackfruit or its analog, soursop. Guanabana is synonymous with Soursop like apples to apples, but we have two distinct takes on this amazing flavor, so think of soursop as a red apple, and guanabana as a green apple. -

  • ACCURACY :   ❓ ❓   UNSURE WHAT IT SHOULD TASTE LIKE

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
This one is tricky, as I never tried soursop fruit, I can't really say how close it is to the original fruit. But for me it smells exactly like a fresh, ripe white mulberry. More over it tastes exactly the same. It is decently wet, I would say on the edge of being juicy but not there yet so Moist is a good word to describe it. It is fresh, but not refreshing. Like a flesh of a white mulberry. Overall great flavor. I would recommend it to anyone who likes berries. However, like I said I don't know how close it is to the tropical fruit that it describes.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Easy to source, easy to work with, on lower concentration (below 2%) can be faint, but reaching 2% it will compete with even some strong flavors. Bringing it up to 2.5% will give you pretty nice base flavor for you berry mixes. Combines well with fruits and berries, pretty sure will go well to some drinks or juices but haven't tried yet. Pairs well with purple flavor (I know) and gives it the body of a berry which works amazing. Would start in a mix at 1.5-2% depending of what you trying to achieve. Would go above 2.5% though as it is pretty strong after that.

Damn Plex! You're on a roll!
So tell me - what's fueling your engine?
The desire to share knowledge - or increasing your odds of winning a sweet prize? haha
Thanx for the contributions.

man, it is hard to tell, haha. If I would say I don't need flavors - I will be lying, but my primary engine is to share my notes and opinion on the flavors. I am somewhat finding pleasure in discovering flavors, trying them, mixing with them so I wanted to share my findings especially with new people to maybe help them decide whether to buy flavor or not. Also I believe that notes will help people spend less time researching every flavor before adding it to the cart as I do right now, heh.

Btw, thanks for maintaining this thread, I will post in it even without a prize to be honest. Is there plans to add more ready to mark tags to the template though? Like dark, smooth, prickly etc?

No plans - but I'm always open to suggestions. I want to make it better - so any suggestion for improvement is welcome. Maybe I should start a "How do I make Flavor Notes Better?" thread.

Candy like Banana that isn't overpowering. Finally a Banana that can be used universally! Try this Banana with almost anything for a nice addition to your blends

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 ⚪ ⚪ ⚪   MISSES THE MARK

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
I was looking for a flavor that would be like a fresh banana and not like a bubble gum. I was suggested to try this flavor. I ordered it, and made a mistake in size. It came in 2oz bottle. I though it is too much. But it is not. This flavor is good! It doesn't have off-notes. It described as candy-like on the River site but I can't say I felt it during testing. The closest description would be a green-yellow banana, on this very edge when it is still just a tat green but already yellow. Ripe and starchy, sweet but not over the roof. I was surprised when I tried. However, even though I call it as natural banana it does switch a bit to a bit candy'ish taste. Though I never tried a candy with such a fresh banana taste. So I will continue to call it the closest natural banana flavor I tried.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Can be sourced only from RiverSupply. Very nice flavor. In the mix would start using at 2% and go up if needs more banana taste. Will work well with LA Banana Cream to create a more syrupy sort of candied banana (you know like you put some sugar on the frying pan and boiled banana in it). Alone will work well with fruits. In combo with other bananas will do magic in creams and custards. Truly versatile flavor. Like it, use it a lot, 2oz bottle was not a mistake.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪ ⚪   CLOSE - BUT COULD BE BETTER

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Strongly smells like orange with a good portion of peel, however, taste is much weaker than a smell. At the first puff gives a bit soapy taste which needs to be dealt with the help of the other orange flavors. After a few puffs, soap is not as noticeable and orange taste comes forward, with a good portion of peel, however, not natural orange but more like a natural derived orange soda. Has this taste like you drink juice containing soda like San Peligrino. Pretty good but not a super-star for sure.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Easy to find, when mixed adds cloudiness to the liquid. Shake well before and after adding to the mix. Not good as a standalone flavor and needs help to shine, e.g. with a drop of FW Blood Orange or any other orange flavor that can cover soapiness. I would suggest starting using it at 0.5% and working the way up. Pretty good to use if you want this soda taste in your liquid, especially of paired with Blood Orange - pretty sweet a delicious soda.

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Smells/ knuckle tests are both delicious! Moderately creamy, slightly moist sweet vanilla cream on the inhale; subtle, soft but still vanilla exhale. I didn't enjoy it much as a SNV, felt weak flavored with a harsh hit. No off notes detected ever, but much better after a 3-7 day steep, still kind of thin & meh (not bad just couldn't understand the hype at that point), but after 2 weeks it started to really shine, getting more flavorful, better mouthfeel. After 4 weeks it seems exactly where it should be & the hype now makes a lot more sense! Will be such a versatile flavor for many kinds of recipes.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Affordable, easy to find in the US (hopefully elsewhere); I'm very late to the party on this one being newer to DIY/ SFTs, but this was the first flavor I SFTd due to my love of vanilla & the hype surrounding this flavor. Can't wait to explore this flavor more as it has so many potential applications & uses.

Yes! Thank you for noticing & for the encouragement!!! I initially mixed up 10 different flavors in 15ml SFT sizes & ended up absolutely ruining ALL of them by adding in just 0.3% worth of severely oxidized nic (I know I should've tested the nic beforehand but I was just so excited to finally get started- lol lesson learned & nic replaced). I re-mixed 5 SFTs & am now vaping through my testers & taking notes. Decided to only do 0 or 1mg nic in SFTs to ensure that I'm not interpreting nic hit as throat hit of the flavors. Appreciate the motivation boost :)

  • TARGET FLAVOR
From River: Tasty banana cream, a fan favorite and a must have!

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪ ⚪   CLOSE - BUT COULD BE BETTER

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
First of all, it is a very good flavor but I give it A- just because it is not really a Banana Cream but rather banana candy. So when you open it and smell it - it smells like "scratched:teen spirit" banana candy with a notes of vanilla. The taste is pretty much the same but more about it further. It has some body yes, but it is not straight creamy. It is very sweet. And if I would go away from what it smells and just talk about taste - it is a caramelized banana. When you put a fresh banana on the frying pan with a decent amount of sugar and let the magic happen - that is what you get. It is nice, it is tasty, it will bring this caramelized banana taste to any creams and it will be delicious. But that said - it will work with bubblegum flavors no problem, candy recipe - not going to be an alien there too. You can make it work anywhere to be honest, it doesn't have any weird notes like VT Banana Custard has so you can use a full range of it in your recipes.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Easy to get, easy to use, the color clear (make sure you get colorless!! version). I used it at 1% in the recipes and it already brings the best notes at this concentration. I would suggest starting at 0.75%-1% at first and work your way from it. I SFTed it at 3.5% and it was very strong and sweet so I would assume bringing it up to 2% in the mix will be probably the highest you want to go without this flavor being the main one. Overall a very good flavor

Cactus fruit - known as Pitaya. The fruit has a very good smell - between kiwi and pear.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 ⚪   VERY CLOSE TO EXPECTATIONS

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
I notice a tendency to choose flavors that is hard to describe. Some say it is dragonfruit taste but concentrated, multiplied by 100 etc. I wouldn't say so. It smells delicious and it tastes delicious. From the description it says it is a combo of a kiwi and pear. I can taste some kiwi presence in there, just like in real dragonfruit, I also taste a dominant pleasant floral note (don't get scared by dominant, it is an absolutely amazing note and it behave very well in any recipe). Moist, on the edge of being wet but not like FA Pear. In the recipes adds a slight floral-tropical note, not too pronounced if you wouldn't go too high. Overall this is one of the flavors that should be in every exotic fruits lover inventory. Strong A+

🔹 Comments 🔹
Easy to source, no off-notes, the color is slightly yellow-amber'ish but the concentrate is clear. Fits amazing with any fruits and berries. Can work with creams too if you are into it. Truly versatile flavor, and truly amazing one. In the mixes I would start from 1.25% that is where the taste starts, but it is very weak at this percentage. If you want it more pronounced you can go a bit higher but keep in mind that at 2% it will be very noticeable.

Green Apple with Sweet, yet tart notes! The perfect harmony of Apple!

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴   EXACTLY LIKE THE DESCRIPTION

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
The concentrate smells like Green Jolly ranchers but the flavor is a bit more realistic than your nose would lead you to believe, around 6% it was very thin and missing a bit of the candy aspect which I believe would be perfect as a green apple starter. Pushing past 8% it starts to get quite candied and a bit floral. The flavor was quite weak off the shake but started to develop after 24 hours, have only had this for a little over a week so not sure how it fades. Very little to no throat hit.

🔹 Comments 🔹
Easy to source if you’re able to shop on RiverSupply/NicRiver. Clear color. I think this would go well into a green apple based mix, starting around 5.5-6.5% with some FLV Sour Apple to help add a little oomf & would likely play well with Watermelons, Kiwis etc. Honestly a very satisfying solo flavor at 7%

It has a nice sweet and sticky flavor with a hint of earthiness. The sweetness leans more toward honey than cane sugar - more natural than processed - with a hint of "brown" flavor.

This has become my sweetener of choice. It works well in any recipe where the darker sweetness is welcome. Being Vape Train - it's less accessible, but well worth the effort. Amazingly kind to coils for being so sweet.

From the manufacturer website: Zapote, also known as Sapodilla is a tropical fruit having a taste comparable to a pear covered in brown sugar.

  • ACCURACY :   🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴 🔴   EXACTLY LIKE THE DESCRIPTION

🔹 Flavor Description 🔹
Direct of the shake I taste a full bodied bold pear, a present middle note, no high tones. It is slightly dry. I get no pear texture, but a pleasant sweet fructose like coating on the outside. There is no sugar texture present, just a complete coating, not pear skin but an outer layer. I have a sweet mouthfeel after the exhale. After 5 days I get a pleasant light brown sugary inhale followed by a medium body. No dryness and no floral notes. On the exhale i get a pear flavor without high notes. The sweetness is slightly reduced. I didn't get any off notes and the flavor represents quite well what I expected from the manufacturer description

🔹 Comments 🔹
As possible pairings bakeries and any combination in recipes with baked apple come to my mind. Even a custard would benefit from the combination of brown sugar with the pearish taste.

SnV: very tasty orange with a slightly tangy acidity that is probably supposed to be the alcohol flavor. No alcohol „throathit“ or something like that as I had originally hoped but it is a great orangeflavor! And probably perfect for boozy recipes. Not voluminous. Especially present on the tip of the tongue. The texture is actually liquid/fluid. Easy to vape, feels light. Taste remains in the mouth for some time. This might actually be the right orange for a Tom Klarks Rum Orangeflower #05 remix. Not much to say — great concentrate. I recommend picking it up. Got it from nomnomz.
