As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Berry Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
This pack includes: Raspberry, Red Raspberry, Alpine Strawberry, Berry Blend, Black Currant, Blackberry Blossom, Blueberry, Boysenberry, Cranberry, Ice, Jammy Berry, Strawberry, Strawberry Cream, Strawberry Filling, Strawberry Smash, and Sweetness.
#This week's flavor is... RED RASPBERRY!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested!
>If something you want to see be the Flavor of the Week isn't listed among upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

In case you missed it, last week's flavor was Pear
#Next week's flavor will be: VANILLA ICE CREAM

INW Raspberry, Malina hands down is my favorite raspberry. It’s so strong and concentrated I feel I’ll never finish my bottle. I never take it over 1% otherwise it can easily turn floral on you. I don’t have many recipes where it’s the main note but as a supporting flavor in a berry mix I use it a lot. This is one I like where it is the star of the show.

Co. | Flavor | %
---|---|----
INW | Biscuit | 1
FA | Cream Fresh | 1
FA | Meringue | 1.25
INW | Raspberry Malina | 1
CAP | Vanilla Custard | 3

I actually haven’t mixed this in a very long time. If I were to mix this again I would try it with another custard like TFA Vanilla Custard II or FA Custard Premium. Any custard will do in my opinion but the only fruit is INW Raspberry Malina, yum
It seems like many people make requests for FOTW that are a "not the right size". Tackling a flavor like Tobacco or Strawberry in one week is overwhelming - too many flavors. And Elderflower has far too few. From my viewpoint, the best FOTW's have around 25 flavors to talk about. I think we should take some of the larger categories and find a way to break them up into smaller digestible chunks. I've created a list to plant some seeds that will grow into good additions to FOTW.
Several Flavor Categories have more than 50 concentrates (currently) listed on Flavor Facts. Those categories are listed below. With each is a list of words commonly found in the names of concentrates in that category. The numbers represent the number of concentrates in each category. This tally only includes names with an exact match. Others with non-conventional names may need to be included. Concentrates that do not have reference links are not listed in Flavor Facts and will also need to be included - such as those from newer Flavor Houses (ie SSA or VSO).

Personally, I like 8 to 12 best, but 25 is better than 30+.
Thank you for posting this.
I find just writing the notes for 30+ flavours can be a bit gruelling, so I can't imagine how much work that is for you!
Yes but now I don't have to whip myself with the cat o nine tails anymore
Sorry about these big flavor weeks, Dixx. Thank you for what you do. Do you want the full script I sent Isuamadog for his role as me Monday night? Will that help you out?
How about two dozen? (approx)
- 8 from the major Flavor Houses (CAP, FLV, TFA, etc)
- 8 from the smaller Flavor Houses (JF, FM, BFD, etc)
- 8 from niche/obscure Flavor Houses (SA, GF, HLQ, etc)
ok, but what's the point of that? The goal of the show is not to present exactly 24 flavors or 8-8-8, but to present particular flavor of all brands on the market. This makes sense, the information is full (as it could be in short format) and this is a magnificent help to mixers.
Me at least, i much more prefer this week's episode has 37 red raspberries rather than just 24 (just because of the number or even worse - flavors of pre-selected brands only).
What we all could do to help Dave&Co is requesting for already appropriately narrowed down flavors; meaning not asking for Chocolate, but more explicitly for (1) Chocolate Bakeries, (2) Chocolate Creams, (3) Chocolate Drinks, (4) Chocolate Candy, maybe even (5) Chocolate Cakes separately, etc (but then again, the crew could do this as well, so that's not our fault...; just don't go too narrow; 35 is better than 20 and it gives much better picture about the particular flavor)
For me personally (and Dave will hate me saying this), my favorite show was the one that had 89 flavors (i think, lol) couple of weeks ago, not the one that had 8 flavors and 90min show is better than 30min.
The last time Raspberry (not Blue Raspberry) was the FOTW, I "only" had 19 of them. Now I have 37. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY RASPBERRIES
Is a Razzleberry, a raspberry?
and probably because raspberry is rarely done "right" but it is frequently done "right enough".
OMG! I love Flavorah's Red Raspberry! My only Problem? If I don't use it at 1-1.5%, I can't taste it. Made this up and my son loves it:
Berry Mix (TPA)5%
Cactus (Molinberry) 1.00%
Lime Concentrate (INAWERA)1.00 %
Raspberry (Wera Garden) (INAWERA)0.50%
Red Raspberry (Flavorah)0.30%
He says it tastes like rainbow candy!
This is my husband's favorite, right now.
Wombat's Jam Monster Mixed Berry clone #1
3.00% Blackberry (CAP)
4.00% Blueberry Extra (TPA)
2.00% Raspberry, Sweet (TPA)
3.00% Sweet Strawberry (Rdcd.Flshpnt) (CAP)
I love raspberries. Use a lot of INW Malina and occasionally FA Beryl. But all mixes seem to come out light and floral. Would love any recommendations for a deep, realistic fleshy raspberry.
Malina gets all the love but I actually prefer the INW shisha raspberry
Has way more body to it and is not really floral, they should mix together well too since malina is mostly top notes and shisha has the middle and base notes
Try backing your raspberry up with a little strawberry.
-
Can I officially request chocolates as a FotW so we can get u/mixman0g back on noted.
-
Hope you had fun with the snow.
-
raspberry jam and croissant by u/mLnikon still a favorite of mine. I’ve used other “for toasts” in place of the strawberry but I still love that recipe. Shows you how things can be bent when you the right combo.
-
Something is up with the table on mobile after rhubarb
I second chocolates.
Any particular type of chocolate you're especially interested in? We did milk chocolate, chocolate milk, and white chocolate all fairly recently, and have done both chocolate cake and chocolate cookies before.
Some chocolate things that haven't had their own FOTW yet: Cocoa, Fudge, Brownie, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate-Coconut, and Mocha.
-
There are so many chocolates. Can you be more specific?
-
I found an icicle the size of my leg this morning, that was fun. I also came to an intersection at the bottom of small hill and was unable to stop at the stop sign, that was less fun.
-
I really need to try that recipe. It looks sofa king good!
-
Odie made the awesome table for me, maybe he can fix it.
> There are so many chocolates. Can you be more specific?
Yes quite a few, but I wouldn't mind covering the whole lot of them -- white chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate deutsch, double chocolate, chocolate milk, etc, but maybe skip things like CAP Chocolate Glazed Donut and PUR Chocolate Peanut Butter. Save those maybe for a "Chocolate+" episode.
I'll follow your lead though. Could definitely spread the varieties over a few episodes. IIRC that's how you've done it in the past. I'm good with however you want to go about it.
We did milk chocolate, chocolate milk, and white chocolate all fairly recently, and have done chocolate cake and chocolate cookies before. You know what we haven't done? Cocoa. How would you feel about a FOTW devoted specifically "Cocoa" flavors? Dark chocolate is another that hasn't had its own week. Also Brownie.
Edit: Also Fudge (which has some overlap with Brownie), Chocolate-Coconut combos, and Mocha.
I figured maybe Mixman could chime in here and give it a whirl.
I messed with it a little bit to do a mixed fruit Jam and croissant that is pretty decent but not quite there. It's a fun sort of profile to play with and the OG is just one of those simple recipes that's balanced nicely and delivers. I love it, despite the coil killer with toast flavor. I hope this week affords you the opportunity to mix it. May you live long enough to make it to next Monday!
So far I have FA raspberry, TFA raspberry sweet, INA shisha raspberry. I'm sft SSA raspberry syrup, has a few more days before I try it. I'll be watching here to see if there are more that I need to order! And thanks to those that have posted recipes.
FW Razzleberry and INW Shisha Raspberry is such a lovely raspberry combo and pretty versatile.
I can’t believe I haven’t tried this. At what ratio?
Never liked raspberry anything so this won't be much of a hit for me. Much appreciated none the less, thanks ntd gang for all the hard work. And who knows, maybe I will try the top raspberry of the show! Stay safe,warm...especially us Texans, fck this shit!
I have been looking forward to this weeks and next for some time. Can’t hardly wait

One of my wife's favorite juices from Blue Dot before they closed their doors was "Hibiscutazz" which is a raspberry and hibiscus mix, but I haven't been able to find a suitable clone yet. Definitely looking to clone this one soon - anyone have a decent clone recipe?
From soap to flowers. Although there is an amazing number of red berry flavors, not all are equal. VSO red raspberry is like a real berry.
I'm really looking forward to trying that one for the first time this week.
I think a good recipe to review would be ExclusiveGirl's Raspberry Crepes. Exclusive girl is apparently kind of „raspberry blind“ and found a solution for it.
TPA Raspberry is the only one I've used and it's not bad(to me) around 2%-3% layered with other berries. I picked it up after watching Developed TPA challenge. Looking forward to this weeks and next weeks episode. Actually, the last few weeks of Noted have been really great. You guys are just amazing and somehow manage to keep the episodes interesting even when it's not a profile I am particularly interested in. Winning the flavor packet would be awesome too. That Alpine strawberry would be a great addition to any mixers kit.
I need to take notes on this one! I've been trying to put a Peppermint-Raspberry together for my wife to replace her favorite commercial ADV. Ten raspberries (and many combinations of said), and I have yet to nail a raspberry close enough for her approval! lol
Which ones have you tried?
So far I've tried DV Raspberry; PUR Raspberry; INW Malina; FA Raspberry; TFA Raspberry Sweet; Cap Raspberry v1; OOO Raspberry Hard Candy; FLV Red Raspberry; PUR Sour Raspberry (was a long-shot); and FR Red Raspberry.
I do have SSA Raspberry Syrup. I haven't had time to try (or even SFT yet), but based on a back-of-hand taste and what I've been hearing, I have high hopes that this may be the raspberry she is looking for!
Looking forward to this one... Any recipe ideas or tricks for FA Raspberry (Beryl)? I love the way this smells in the bottle, but whenever I try to incorporate this it never works for what I am expecting
I'd like to try my hand at creating a Framboise recipe somewhere down the line. I'm certain I'll be using this episode for reference!
I just got some VT Raspberry Jam. Does that count as a red raspberry?
yes, anything raspberry that isn't blue is red by default
I am awaiting for a inw shisha raspberry. I have tfa raspberry sweet but havent found a good use for it yet. Raspberry is quite complicated profile, it is tasty as an idea but apart from making a raspberry jam I can’t really imagine a good use as of now. But that it is also part of me not making sft on it. Gotta fix it
INW Shisha Raspberry is a good one!
So I heard, that is why it is coming to me this Friday hehe along with some inw rhubarb. I think these two already asking to be in the damn mix
~~Simpsons~~ Nick Evans did it
I recently tried my attempt at a blue raspberry after having tried a bunch of them that were already on ATF.
This is the first batch that I have actually vaped the entire tester and just have to do some tweaking.
The SSA Raspberry Syrup is excellent and I can see it being paired with another raspberry (INW Malina, FLV Red Raspberry etc) for a multilayered raspberry.
I still need to work on the cotton candy flavor for it, but that plan on giving that profile a recipe of its own.
I like inw raspberry, how is inw shisha raspberry different? Also, picked up fm raspberry on clearance, can't find many recipes for it, anybody have a good recipe using it?
I'm having a hard time nailing a more natural raspberry profile - kind of the same challenge i have with blueberries - gets synthetic really fast, even at low percentages. But then again, i only have 4 different raspberries, might have more luck with 37 to choose from! (That's SO many, wtf?)
Not the biggest fan of raspberries, both IRL and as a vape. Don't know why, just don't like it that much.

SSA Natural Raspberry
Nah, this is fruit mixed with old stale gravy or something. A weird savory note that still haunts me to this day.

INW Shisha Raspberry
Pretty good, syrup like raspberry. Like all the shisha stuff it's fine but syrup-y.

TFA Raspberry Sweet
Candy like raspberry, very sweet as the name implies. Not bad but needs help.

VTA Raspberry Jam
It's jam, that's for sure. Not sure on the raspberry part, more like generic fruit jam.
After trying both TFA Raspberry & INW Raspberry, INW pretty solidly filled the raspberry-shaped void in my stash. It's fairly strong but still totally workable & I didn't get strange off notes or anything. Raspberry is one of those flavors I usually love but often neglect or overlook, no idea why bc I love them IRL & generally enjoy them in vapes as well. I probably have other raspberry flavors in my stash, but if I haven't SFT'd it, no point in bringing em up here :)
I have INW Shisha Raspberry, SSA Raspberry Syrup & FLV berries on my to-get list tho! I only have a handful of FLV flavors bc of their upfront co$t. I know they end up being worth it, but sometimes you'd just rather get more off your wish list than less of it lol (ofc i wasn't aware of the BCF FLV packs until I'd already done most of my initial DIY shopping 😂)
Citraspberry Soda is missing a review from u/ID10-T :(
Might miss the live but I’ll definitely ketchup after
Is... is that a TFA Sweet Raspberry joke?
After professing my love for INW Raspberry (in comparison to TPA Raspberry), I checked my stash & it turns out I also have FR Red Raspberry, FM Sweet Betsey Raspberry & PUR Sour Raspberry Candy. I haven't SFT'd any of those yet so hopefully I'll have notes for the next red Raspberry FOTW lol 🙈
EDIT: dammit, thought I was replying under my own comment thread 😓
Just curious, do you have to work on the puns or do they come to you instantly?
Usually one or two ideas come to me instantly, but they're incredibly dumb, and trying to work them into a workable FOTW post title gets a bit square-peg round-holey.
So I struggle with them and sometimes beg for help from friends on the DIY Discord. This week I tried threatening that there would be no FOTW because no one was helping, then finally gave up and went with this crap.
I was planning to do some SFT's of my own for this, but of course, I done went and used up all my bottles haven't I?! I seem to have a lot of raspberry flavours, forever searching for that perfectly balanced raspberry that sits between sweet and tart. However, I have both known and loved raspberry trinity, appropriately & possibly best used in Alfred's Daveberry Cheesecake recipe.
Raspberries in my stash:
CAP; FA & TPA (Sweet)
Have previously used and enjoyed all three of these.
INW (Malina, Shisha)
Have also used and enjoyed both. From memory, I think I liked Shisha most, but found there were slight differences between the two, each with their uses.
FLV (Rasp, Red Rasp)
Light in flavour & low strength for FLV, have not made huge use of these yet but love the aroma of each and have seen FLV Rasp used successfully in combination w/ other rasps
SSA (Rasp Syrup)
Like many, I have also found SSA Raspberry Syrup to be an awesome addition to this category. See below recipe.
WF (Rasp Jelly Bean)
True to profile, really good jelly bean & moderately soft rasp flavour. Mixes well with other raspberries.
WF (Boysenberry Raspberry)
Another good flavour but I found it to be somewhat lacking in tartness, and also boysenberry.
SA Raspberry
A nice tart raspberry, maybe a *little* thin but can be used in combo, works as main flavour or as accent.
LA (Colourless); FW (Razzle); VTA (Sweet); SSA (Natural); WF (Cobbler [Berry])
I am still yet to try
A-S (Rasp. Cotton candy)
Not a huge fan, first impressions are it was overly sweet, flavour lacking, perhaps a good dose of ethyl-maltol in there, but haven't ruled it out as yet.
FRA & RAW (Malaysian)
Took notes. Must find notes.
I have used a bit of INW Rhubarb before to tart up my raspberries, maybe 0.25% was a bit too much. Anyone else? How do you tart-up your razzleberries?
Wish I had something more useful to contribute than just the notes of the top of my head, but here is something good that you may potentially fall in love with. It's a raspberry recipe by freshepies and an absolute must-try IMO - that is if you don't mind a bitta coconut on ya coils!
Tuney's Zingy Birthday Cake (freshepies)
|Company|Flavour|Percentage| |:-|:-|:-| |FW|Cake (White)|2.0%| |WF|Coconut Custard|1.40%| |OOO|Corn Bread|1.0%| |VTA|Desiccated Coconut|1.0%| |WF|Fluffy White Cake|1.0%| |SSA|Raspberry Syrup|1.20%| |VTA|Vanilla Buttercream Frosting|1.40%|
It's a Raspberry Zinger Cake. The official Australian translation for this is it's the cake-version of a pink lamington. So really... it's just a.. massive... pink... LAMINGTON!
Impressive mix. I get some hints of shredded coconut throughout the vape, but upfront on the inhale you get a creamy, coconut/vanilla frosting, you'll taste a sweet & jammy raspberry on your tongue mid-way through and wrapping it up neatly on the exhale is a definite sponge cake, both taste and texture-wise. Nailed the cake base on this one.
Going fructose-free? Got no FW White Cake? I have subbed in WF Angel Cake at the same percentage and with great results, so...
One, it's a banger. Two, it's a S&V. Three, it's fresh. Four what are you still doing here then? Go!
That recipe looks incredible
Raspberry is good with so many other flavors or just alone. Finally will be making my first order, and for the raspberry I landed on INW- raspberry. Hoping for it to be good as a solo with a small amount of super sweet as well as being able to mix it with other fruit flavors. Anyone have a better suggestion?
There are at least three INW Raspberries. Do you know whether you got the Wera Garden (WG) version, the Raspberry Koncentrate (Malina) version, or the Shisha Raspberry version?
I see that now (looking on bullcity). Where ever I read it it said just Inw- raspberry so I'm thinking it was referring to the raspberry concentrate also known as malina. Is there a major difference between that one and WG? Reviews for both look good and one review says they are interchangeable. Thx for feedback
I love raspberry. So looking forward to this episode. I love it when you guys do all the heavy lifting so I can pick up the better flavors instead of blindly tossing money away on trash. Oh yeah I will definitely be making a BCF order for that Noted discount. BCF is the best hands down.
To get my recipe in by the deadline!
