>Yes, they’re back. Some people loved them, some people really really loved them, and the rest of you are just wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Click here or, ya know, read a little further down.
##What is it?
First, you should understand 1-2-3 recipes; they’re a trend started by our u/ID10-T as a way to basically highlight 1 flavor while accentuating it or bolstering it with two others. The fun is in picking the flavors that can fill each role and in being limited to 3 flavors and 3 specific percentages. It’s a great way to come up with a simple recipe and is often used to try out a new flavor in a recipe, where it won’t get crowded out or lost in complexity.
For example:
####1-2-3 Cranberry Sprite Co. | Flavor | % ---|---|---- FLV | Cranberry | 1% VT | Fizzy Sherbet | 2% CAP | Lemon Lime | 3%
##The Rules
- Top level comments will name the profile/recipe name and pick a flavor at any of the 3 percentages.
- Replies should be a flavor that fits the profile/name and uses one of the remaining percentages.
- That’s pretty much it. If you’re new and wanna play along but aren’t sure, just suggest a flavor you want to use and add a question mark to let people know you’re open to suggestions i.e. “Strawberry Kiwi - INW Shisha Strawberry 3%(?)”
- Then someone comes along and says “Maybe 2% would be better, with 3% FA Kiwi”
- You probably get it.
##The Highlights
-
u/gremlinjuice is back! Free Friday is just the kind of thing you would expect from a guy like Rich. Along with that patent generosity he has also released several of his recipes on the sub like this one and this one and also this other one maybe if he keeps hanging out we can convince him to release a few more?
-
u/-DixxleRoo- provided us with some notes on 15 different Meringue and Lemon Meringue Pie flavors courtesy of the Noted Podcast. I noticed Dixxle didn’t have any user flair set so I went ahead and gave her Community MVP and look forward to these posts making the highlights every week.
-
u/isuamadog was anything but Basic in his Tutorial Tuesday post on How to Make a Basic Recipe, explaining how to keep it simple while giving great details on the steps to developing any recipe, even a simple one.
-
u/dougplanet shared their recipe for Coiled Juices Smokeberry like many other commercial juice makers have done over the years, but unlike many others who have provided the recipes and not much else, doug shared the whole story of how the juice was developed, which (IMO) makes it a whole lot more useful to everyone.
-
u/CrispoKringle asked the question that’s been asked a dozen times since we updated “My First Order Flavors” based on YOUR votes “Why is the cactus flavor so popular?” >It was that question, or rather, questioning the whole list that was voted into place, that prompted u/ID10-T to write a five volume history of First Order Flavors. Here’s Volume 5 (which has links to the rest)
