Reusing Bottles
submitted over 4 years ago by DyslexicGingerBoy

So I bought a few bottles for mixing my stuff (mostly oneshots) and I was wandering how to dry it completely,or if it is safe to be used like this after washing and a few days to let the water evaporate

Bottle in question

Personally I wouldn’t even worry about it but maybe give it a few days if you are

Just depends on how risk avoidant you are and/or how anal you are about the ratios in your mix. If I'm rinsing with distilled water and I've shaken most droplets out, I don't bother with paper towel or blow dryer.

Now... if you're storing nic after washing out an amber glass bottle, definitely get that puppy dry.

Yeah I use my bottles with a few specks of water still in em.

I'll generally just flick em a few times quickly with the bottle opening outwards to get most the water droplets out, then leave em half an an hour or so and they're usually dry by then though that amount of water isn't going to ruin your liquid.

Same, no adverse effects yet.

I tend to flick the bottle until I can no longer hear water droplets flying out and impacting in the sink. Then a few more for good measure.

I roll up a paper towel and stick it in them to dry them out. If the neck is too small a qtip works to!

I tried both and they don't seem to work that well, bottle shape too awkward or maybe i'm just dumb

Then I would turn it upside down on a towel and let it dry.

I use the gorilla bottles with the wider top. Easier to clean and dry, even easier to mix in. If you decide to get some be sure to get a cap remover tool. Bull City has both last I looked.

I could type a paragraph attempting to explain my twisted toilet paper method but it's way simpler for you to upend them and let them dry for 24 hours.

Toilet paper would leave lint wouldn’t it?

Avoid the cheap stuff.

Roll up a per towel then fold about 2 inch at the bottom. Insert it with the folded end first. It will unfold after it passes through the hole and scrape the sides. Spin it around and slowly pull it up. Should get most of the water out.

I shake them so any drops fly out and rest them upright on the sunny kitchen windowsill for a day or a few days (in wettest weather).

Looks like pet. You can shake it out and stick a paper towel down there. Give it a spin to get up what you can. With time you can get it all.If you want a faster solution, after getting what you can with a paper towel, I put mine into a tiny colander and orient them all in the same direction then take a hair dryer and point it into the bottles from the side. Just be careful with pet because they will melt if you are too close or if the heat is too high. If they are LDPE you don’t have to worry so much. When those are dry I do the same thing with the tips & caps.

Rinse with hot water and drain. Then rinse with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. the higher the percentage, the better. Shake it out well and let it air dry. The alcohol will encourage evaporation quicker.

Bog roll pushed down and around the bottom and middle, then I use a q tip to get the top part. Just bend the q tip a bit so it's more an "L" shape to mop it up.

I wouldn't use it with any water in, but that's me. You can expidite the drying with a hair dryer on cold/cool so you don't melt it, or sat above a radiator that's on.

I wash all my bottles at night and then I stuck them in the dish rack. By morning they are dry.

I made a drying rack using a block of craft store styrofoam and bamboo skewers. It can hold 10 120mL bottles; wash/rinse bottles, place them open end down over the skewers.
