First success!
submitted over 4 years ago by Idiotsandcheapskate

I finally jumped into DIY thanks to NY state flavor ban. My very first experiment finished steeping (I gave it 3 days). I made a pretty basic liquid with some Menthol, Creme de Menthe and 7 Leaves. It's great! For some reason I get a lot more throat heat than I get from commercial liquid with the same nicotine content, but other than that it's something I would have had no problem paying money for at a retailer. Can't wait for more flavors to arrive.

A possible cause of the throat hit is oxidized nic. I would mix up a bottle of juice nic, VG, and PG to see if that's the case. If you get significant throat hit, your nic is oxidized and it's time to either exchange if it's recent or buy a new bottle!

I bought from reputable seller, hope they wouldn't sell me spoiled nic :) Honestly, I think I know the reason. I have always been a high PG gal (like 70/30 PG/VG, I don't like clouds, I like throat heat and VG gives me a nasty feeling of stuck hairball in my throat), but thanks to new NY laws I was forced to vape whatever I could get my hands on, and that was high VG with with little throat heat. So I think it's just a matter of falling out of old habits :)

Reputable sellers always ship good nic, and I’ve had nic spoil in transit. Left in the sun or something. River supply co was super nice and refunded it immediately. Never heard of someone vaping 70/30 PG/VG! I’m sorry you’ve had to go so long with shitty commercial juice in the wrong ratio

I will probably give VG another chance at some point when I get a decent mod/tank. But yea, I really missed my delicious PG :)

Yay!! I’m excited for you! It starts as an idea to save money and then turns into a lot of fun. There’s a lot of knowledge here and the mixers are amazing! 😊

Congrats, and welcome to DIY! My first mix was pretty terrible so I'm glad yours turned out well. Not sure what your VG/PG ratio is, but if you're getting too much throat hit, try a higher % of VG. I usually mix at 70 VG / 30 PG.

I am the opposite. I have always been vaping 70/30 PG/VG, as VG doesn't agree with me (I'm aware it's often the opposite for people), and I have an old tank that can't really pull off high VG. I already made 3 new bottles of the same mix with lower nic and slight variations of those 3 flavors I have (around 20 other flavors are in the mail). I can tell it's a lot of fun. I hope to be able to transition to 0 nic eventually.

This might sound funny, but I stocked up on nic to last a few years. Eventually I reduced my nicotine intake and my nicotine stock nearly doubled. I reduced my intake again and now my stock has tripled for the most part. I am close to zero and when I do I will be stuck with liters of nic don’t know yet what I will do with

I am planning to stock up as well so that it'll last a few years, because of this new shipping band that goes into effect in April. Also gonna buy extra mods, batteries, coils, tanks, etc.

So... does the nic content affect anything other than throat heat? I don't think I have any physical dependency on it.
