Sour Berries
submitted over 4 years ago by DyslexicGingerBoy

Hello to everyone! I am looking for a berry flavor that's not so sweet,so does anyone know any raspberry/blueberry,blackberry etc. flavors that have more of a natural, sour taste? Thank you very much

Sour is my jam, but as others mentioned, it's a bit tricky.

The best you can hope for is tart, bright, and bitter in some combination. Some recommendations:

There's a big list of flavors and if you want to get some good ideas, just search "sour" in the recipes list on alltheflavors. The thing you want to avoid is pure sour additives. You either get no result at all, muting, or horrible coil gunking.

Anyways, best of luck.

This is great advice. I also recommend LB Blue Raspberry, OSDIY Blue Raspberry, CAP Lemon Lime, TFA Cranberry, and TFA Pineapple (some people say that last one is harsh on the throat)...

IMO the best pineapple is VT Sugarloaf Pineapple

All the pineapple with no throat scratch

Yep, I love VT Sugarloaf. I recommended TFA just because (in my mouth) it’s one of the flavors that get closest thing to ”Sour”.

The only authentic flavors I know are from Herrlan and CBV. The usual INW, FA, CAP or TPA flavors are more like candy.

FA’s Forest Fruit Forest Mix might worth trying. Although not a berry, TFA’s Kiwi double is a very accurate flavor with some sourness. For sour you could also try adding TFA Sour or a similar malic acid flavoring, or a citrus flavor. Both lemon and lime sicily are not overly sweet.

From what i've read online, this is exactly what im looking for, thank you very much!
What concentration did you mix it if you don't mind me asking?

Going off of old tester recipes in my e-liquid-recipes account it looks like I was fine with 5% for dtl/restricted dtl and ~20% for pod devices. Pretty sure I made a few bottles of the pod device one at least. Sorry that I can't be more sure.

Will be tough to find one with a sour note, but JF Blueberry is one of the more realistic berry flavors I've tried at least. It is sweet tho but not as sweet as most other berry flavors.

You won't find anything "sour" per se, as that is not really possible with vaping. You can however find flavors that are less sweet.

Which flavors have you tried so far?

I haven't tried anything truly dyi, just brand made concentrated flavor mixes that i pour over bases

Those are called oneshots.
A lot of those will have added sweetener - not all, but a lot.
My guess is that with DIY, you will find that the flavors aren't so sickly sweet.

Yeah,by sour i meant less sweet, sorry for my bad comminication skills. I only vaped oneshots and premade liquids but i am excitedly looking forward to starting mixing my own liquids

Like /u/ssdotinfo said, FA Forrest Mix is a little tart, and like /u/Zany1337 sour is a harder flavour profile to find, one of the surefire ways to get it is by throwing in a little TPA/TFA Sour. I used it at about 0.7-1.5% depending on recipes and it worked really well. But it wasn’t so much a SOUR perse but more of a tart/less sweet note

I think you’d be happier with diy juice as you customize it to your liking. If you decide to do this please read the sidebar here prior to placing any orders, if you’re using a cell phone it’s under About section in the subreddit. you’ll also find links to free web calculators and vendors that sell flavor concentrates. Find a couple good recipes on all the flavors.com that fit your flavor profile and make some juices. Have fun 🤩

For a sour note in a berry mix adding flv sour apple and a lemon/citrus note usually works for me

Have you tried adding a bit of super sour?
