As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Base Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
This pack includes: Marshmallow, Avocado, Bubble Gum, Butterscotch, Candy Roll, Cookie Dough, Cotton Candy, Cream, Cupcake Batter, Custard, Milk & Honey, Pound Cake, Smoothie Base, Starch Base, Sweet Cream, and Vanilla Custard.
#This week's flavor is... MERINGUE!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested!
>If something you want to see be the Flavor of the Week isn't listed among upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

What's with all these suggestions for requests? I'll let /u/OdieDoodah Explain.
FA Meringue is the only meringue you need. Though I have TFAs version for a few recipes sometimes I mix them up and I really can’t tell the difference between the two except that FA feels more creamier and TFA’s is like more sugary. Or my mouth is broken
so what you're saying is use both in equal amounts! :)
Your mouth is not broken
I only use Meringue for one thing. It’s literally the only reason that I buy it:
What in the heck is a soho?
It’s a neighborhood in New York. Flavourart named their flavor after it.
- The name SoHo was inspired by the famous New York neighbourhood which is an epitomic union between modernity, History, and multiculturalism, with SoHo's legendary cast-iron architecture mirroring FlavourArt's strength and beauty.
May I request black licorice?
You are a horrible person, but yes, I’ll add it.
Yuck. Maybe it wouldn't be bad to include red licorice in the same week (to write off licorice once and for all). You probably won't have more than 10 licorice flavors even if you include them both (i'm evil; double torturing for that week)
Last time this came up we did black licorice and anise, which are similar, and we’ve done red licorice and Swedish fish together before, because two red waxy candies have more in common than any other candy has with black licorice. But I’m trying to steer these in a more narrowly focused direction, rather than wider, so black licorice week will stay black licorice week.
Do you want me to add another week for Red Licorice minus the Swedish fish?
I've been super duper slacking on my SFTs so unfortunately I don't have much compare/ contrast/ individual experience with meringues. That being said, FA Meringue has become a MUST HAVE for me as an additive/ booster/ enhancer, especially in cereals, desserts like cookies cakes creams puddings custards, milky anything & even some fruits. I enjoy using (0.25%-0.75%) it as a sweetener/ "thickener" in many recipes instead of a traditional sweetener. I don't think I've used it as a main note yet 🤔
For me, FA Meringue basically booted TFA Meringue out of my collection (TFA is much sweeter & a bit too thin). Both flavors are good don't get me wrong but if I could choose 1 it would be FA's.
Excited to see other's comments here, as I could use some enlightenment & new flavor recommendations in this category.
I think you’re right about how TFA Meringue is. But FA and to a lesser extent TFA get used a lot to emulate the interaction between cereal and milk and after messing around with them both a lot, I think TFA is actually better at this, especially with very sugary cereal. Try it yourself in a cereal with milk recipe that you enjoy that uses FA that way. Sub in 1.5% TFA for 1% FA, bet you it’s better.
FA is a more authentic meringue.
I love this community so much 😭 I recently broke my embarrassingly long lurking streak to try to participate & give back bc I've learned so much; I was nervous that my relative inexperience wouldn't be worthwhile... so glad I decided to start speaking up & thank you for the tip! My unloved ~13ml of TFA Meringue thanks you as well. I will totally try that as I haven't ventured too far into cereals yet, aside from a few recipes from others.
Am I still able to win if I am on the show? Hmm...
I suppose not...
Anyway, I've been pretty surprised how different the meringues have been so far.
None have been particularly bad ( yet ), so here's hoping the trend continues.
Can't say much more, but you'll all get my notes on Monday :D
Hey for the next 'Garden' themed episode could I maybe request cucumber?
Added Cucumber!
For the "Garden Party" week after Cucumuber I'd like to request Herbs. I noticed that SSA has Basil and Rosemary (and Oregano, Garlic, Cilantro) - so there's something new, and the last time Herbs had the spotlight was over 3 years ago. If Garden Party is on a quarterly rotation, that would put it sometime around Christmas.
Idgaf what u/ID10-T says. I love Tootsee Roll 1,000,000 times over. I’ve swapped all parts of it over and over again as I’m not a strawberry fan as much as other things. The eureka moment here for me was the cap sc/Fa meringue combo. Produces the most interesting soft baked cookie and totally stealable. The OG tootsee has a bunch of other great stuff going on and is just a solid dessert recipe and one of my favorites both for adaptation and for reliability to hit that spot.
Is the JF Strawberry Sweet worth picking up for someone who's not huge into Strawberries? It looks like it's in a fair amount of recipes but most of them seem pretty Strawberry forward... Might try subbing in the TPA's just so I can see this Cap SC/FA Meringue combo in action.
-edit- Oh! It's part of the Daveberry Trinity isn't it? I should probably grab those three and give this a whirl then. After that I'll probably call my Strawberry collection complete, haha.
Tootsee roll has a few things that play well and u/ID10-T would probably be best to ask about subs etc, yet I can say that he’s got a lot of great stuff in balance here. I personally go sideways on butt rip and Sb so I pare it down to just the cookie meringue combo and work back up from there leaving out the butter and the major flavor layers and just experiment. I could see a few jammy fruit layers working in the Sb place over trying to sub. I’m just not as versed there, kinda outside my experience. ID might hopefully chime in with some better ideas. But jf is certainly better than cap Sb sw for me as someone who doesn’t like Sb much and muting even less. Hope that helps!
I wouldn’t sub a TFA strawberry in that. Maybe you have some other berry you could try instead?
I'm still new to DIY so building up my stash based on recipes, and strawberries (and sweet fruits in general) aren't one of my fave flavors. I picked up the TFA strawberries to try out Mustard/MOD/God/MOG Milk and have been enjoying them well enough, but I don't really want to go down that road tooo far. Think I'll pick up the Strawberry Trinity and try the above out as written.
Commenting to win! I just joined this sub so won't have flavors together until Raspberry week! Looking forward to it. I made my first juice last week using the 2016 winner's 'grack' juice. It's as good as everyone says. Cheers.
Went straight for the weird and liked it
I think WF Flapper Pie has something to say here.
That flavor is incredible! No idea it counted as a meringue (I'm one of those that needs a "list" of applicable flavors or else I only know the obvious ones)
Whatever happened to Grape being on the list? 😭 i swear I requested that one months ago
What probably happened was you asked for it, I saw your request for it when busy and made a mental note to add it as soon as I was unbusy, and then lost that mental note like I do an increasing number of them. Sorry about that.
White or purple grape?
No I swear I saw it on the line up before like it was added then later taken out haha nbd though. I'd prefer purple grape because it's much more versatile with it's uses.
I was going to make a joke about it, but now I want to try these.

I pretty much use TFA exclusively for cereal milks and FA for everything else. Does anyone need more than 2 meringue flavors?
Only need Tfa and Fa meringue don’t you?
Are lemon meringue pie/tart flavors invisible to you?
The FA Meringue plays just so well in GF Yourself of SthrnMixer from ELR.
I only own FA meringue, but as far as I can tell, that's the only one I really need for my purposes. Works well as a sweetening, thickening agent imo. Even tho I don't use it that often - might try to use it in place of super sweet in recipes whenever it makes sense
This should be an interesting episode. I’d be surprised if there are enough meringues to fill an hour but you never know (Dave likes his Bickfords 😂). The only meringue I have is FA and I only really use it as an additive for mouth feel and smoothness. Looking forward to this one and greetings from the U.K.!
SA lemon meringue ( citron meringue ) is interesting . It changes a lot with steeping . Snv it is harsh but after 10-14 days you get a mild lemon curd with a dry almost crisp meringue with slight toasted notes . To make a lmp you would need something for pie crust , perhaps another meringue for gooeyness and a brighter/sharper lemon . I reckon about 2 to 2.5 % in a mix . I enjoyed this mix even if it's perhaps a bit over complex https://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/2897634/Easy%20Peasy%20Lemon%20Squeezy%20v3
I've only used fa meringue (k... I lied I do have Caps SL Meringue) and it (fa) worked pretty darn good in a couple cereal mixes I used to mix up back in the day.. Hmmm.. I need to revisit some of the old cereal mixes ... I could really enjoy some pebbles or boo berry .. Maybe for next Saturday.. so I can throw some cartoons in the mix.. Life was just so simple with giant bowl of cereal in front of the TV.. Time stops for no one... Enjoy life and vape what ya like..have fun. .. and eat a bowl of kids cereal, it'll make you feel good.. Vape On.. 💨✌
I'd say my favorite meringue is FlavourArt's followed by TFA's. Such a versatile flavor.

Weighing in at 328lb EFF AYE MEEEERRRRIIINNGGUUEUEE. Still the undefeated heavy weight champion of the world, tune in to noted on Monday to see will anyone take the belt from FA AKA FAther Meringue! Don't mess with the FAther.
Oh boy, I’ve been waiting for this one. Don’t have marshmallows in my arsenal yet but I certainly need some
Marshmallow is not Meringue though ;-). The Marshmallow episode was a few months back, iirc.
Damn it, I was researching marshmallow flavors when I saw the post and for some reason O thought this one was marshmellow. I have fa meringue and it is lovely and fluffy but honestly not sure what else I would expect from the flavors like this. Certainly will tune in
