As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week, this is also where you can comment to win the tea and herbal Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
#This week's flavor is... WOODRUFF!!!
How did that get to be the FOTW?
It was requested!
>If you're not interested in the upcoming FOTWs, please take this opportunity and comment to request one that interests you (or send me a PM to do that).

I see from the comments below that many of you have no idea what woodruff tastes like. It is a fragrant herb that is commonly used in northern Europe to flavor all manner of sweets, as well as wine punch and sometimes even beer.
It is a very unique and characteristic flavor. Imagine vanilla shifted up several octaves into the floral register, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect from woodruff.
As with any floral, it is best used in moderation. For a prominent woodruff note, I use JF Sweet Woodruff at 0.75-1.25%. To supplement vanilla, I use it at 0.15-0.20%.
Woodruff pairs incredibly well with FLV Wood Spice (sandalwood). Here's my favorite recipe using woodruff:
Ingredient|% :---|---: Almond (Mandorla) (FA)|0.40 Coconut (LA)|0.50 Key Lime (TPA)|0.75 Lavender (FA)|0.90 Lovage Root (Flavorah)|0.40 Soy Milk (FE)|1.75 Sweet Rice (FE)|1.00 Sweet Woodruff (Jungle Flavors)|0.80 Wood Spice (Flavorah)|0.70
Flavor total: 7.2%
Remember to rate it at e-liquid-recipes.com!
Where did you find JF Sweet Woodruff?
I've got INW Woodruff. Never mixed with it. I bought it directly from Inawera, I believe, when I first started mixing. I bought it, mainly, because I had bought some Tom Klark eliquid in 2016, and I feel like I read that was one of the components of one of his recipes . . . which are strange forays into flavor layering, and I can dig some strange layering. I've toyed with the idea of making a woodruff/strawberry cheesecake.
Might be a good week to come up with Ruff Wood Strap-on recipe for submission over at VCC!! 🤣🤣
You have basically only 2 typed of woodruff flavors in the works. The chemical candy like one, or the herbal one. Both are unique and good to pair with vanilla or raspberry for example for a stupid easy and long lasting liquid without the chance to burnout your taste buds. But as single they are also really good. Maybe a drop menthol or coolada if you like it. As German I know woodruff really well :P
I’m with u/Kholdermua, I have no idea what a woodruff is
Have you dared to substitute Honeysuckle with a Woodruff in your recipe Longing u/ID10-T ?
If I had two working hands right now I’d have already done that. Stupid hand surgery
Did you manage to get Woodruff from CBV, which seems to be the favorite in Europe? I hear also Elli‘s has a woodruff. And the German Club der Dampfer has 5 woodruff variants, but I don’t get what’s the difference between them.
I’m just about to get into DIY, though I’ve been thinking about it for a while... like for 3-4 years.
I’ve had woodruff syrup in my beer before. I think it would make a good vape ingredient. Maybe with almond?
Take the leap and do it! There's tons of resources for beginners and everyone on here or the discord would be willing to answer any questions and help you get started.
I’ve been reading the sidebar and the threads here for a while. I plan to start small with only one or two flavors. Does anyone DIY with nic salts? I don’t want to buy a new mod (and/or batteries. I go through juice so much slower with my pod.
I haven’t made the leap to discord yet (I’m an IRC-kinda girl). But I should.
Mixing with salts are exactly the same as mixing with freebase, nicotine in PG is the easiest to mix with. Get 100mg/ml and fill this out
To me, Woodruff like most herbs, is more of an olfactory experience than a taste. To me, I love using herbs to enhance a taste. I look forward to seeing how the Noted team accomplishes this.
God damn, seems like I forgot to send you CBV Waldmeister (Woodruff) which is supposed to be the best stuff ever. Woodruff is a very popular jelly and ice cream flavor here in Germany and the CBV concentrate tastes exactly like that from what I heard.
I need to know what woodruff is and what it taste like. Found this " NB! The Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark recommend limited consumption. Sweet woodruff contains coumarin which when consumed in excess of 7 grams (for an adult of 70 kilos) raise health concerns." (When you eat it) Vape form is a dif. story :)
After reading the comments i think it could work well in a boozy type vape. High octave vanilla, add some sandelwood and some caramel and you’ve got yourself a barebone bootleg Buffalo Trace vape.
Ahh woodruff... Surprisingly I actually have a recipe to submit! This is one of few recipes that must be enjoyed off the shake, as, like real green teas, the wheels fall off if it sits/steeps, becoming vegetal and loosing its ethereal floral and herbal top notes.
Ingredient|% :---|---: Green Tea (FA)|3.00 Green Tea (FE)|0.75 Liquid Stevia|0.25 Sweet Woodruff (Jungle Flavors)|1.00
Flavor total: 5%
My mother used to drink Woodruff tea ( maybe she added Woodruff to the tea or it was a Woodruff tea...I don't know) but I loved the smell. Each time i come across this scent somewhere it makes me think about her. I never thought adding Woodruff to my tea recipe( didn't realize I could buy this flavor) but I will definitely try as soon as possible.
