Fed Ex and shipping and how we just got burned again
submitted over 4 years ago by Creepynewguyinavan

Effective March 1, 2021, FedEx will be prohibiting, in all of its domestic and international networks, shipments of all electronic cigarettes and their component parts, any other similar device that relies on vaporization or aerosolization, and any noncombustible liquid or gel, regardless of the presence of nicotine, that can be used with any such device. Details regarding the prohibited items can be found in the January 2021 FedEx Service Guide in the Prohibited Items sections and / or the FedEx Freight 100 Series Rules Tariff terms and conditions.

And the government is banning vape mail in the USPS also. So UPS is gonna be the only way? And vape shops are shutting down because of flavor bans and PMTA. So essentially they don't have to ban vaping at all, cause all this other shit is gonna make it impossible. FUCK FEDEX, FUCK AMERICA, FUCK EVERYBODY

every path to the consumer will be pressured. UPS may end up giving in as well when it comes down to it

I'm sure they will. Unless everyone starts using them and they end up making a ton of money from it

This wouldn't surprise me. If you figure that half of the vapers in the US (Just a guesstimate) order vape products at least 4 times a year, that adds up to a fairly substantial chunk of change in shipping costs.

UPS already has done this. My shopify account has pulled UPS shipping off of my store.

Give it time. UPS sent me a letter at the end of October.

Re:  UPS Tobacco/Vape Policy Violation

Dear OHMEGA:

We appreciate your business with UPS and Shopify. This letter is to inform you that you and/or your company is in violation of the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service and the UPS Tobacco/Vape Policy.  It has come to our attention that you and/or your company shipped noncompliant tobacco/vape products through our network.

For additional information, please review the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service at https://www.ups.com/assets/resources/media/en_US/terms_service_us.pdf  and the UPS Tobacco Policy at www.ups.com/tobacco.

Due to the violation of the terms and service we will no longer be able to support your shipments via UPS. This has no impact on your Shopify account- you will still be able to continue your service with Shopify.

If you have any questions, or if you have an existing agreement with UPS, please contact your UPS Sales Representative or the UPS Customer Service Center at 1-800-PICKUPS.

Sincerely,

If they won't deliver I will. I will make this the priority of my business. I vape myself and support our freedoms to do so and to be able to get our supplies. In the state of Indiana you have a friend in the shipping business. Remember our name https://www.facebook.com/CourierExpressKokomo46901

wow there really is a stupidly high amount of shit piling up behind the scenes under the guise of "helping".

I'm beginning to see why people have been stockpiling over the last few months, if not just to avoid headaches down the road in any form.

I only got into this a few weeks ago, give or take, but yeah for real, I noticed the urgency as I started finding out more and more about what’s been going on the last few months.

Definitely feeling it now, though. Between upcoming (?) nic taxes and now these shipping bans, I wish I realized sooner that I’d be getting deeper into all this and bought more diy supplies and whatever else during sales.

Legalized cigarettes but banned vaping. During the time we also legalize weed. I can’t even anymore

Tabacco = MSA money already spent by the states before they got it, Vaping = Danger to MSA payments by the tobacco industry. It's all about the money. All states, the health system and big pharma make a lot more money if people keep smoking and keep getting sick.

I wish I could upvote this more. I've worked in advocacy for a decade now and nobody seems to understand that all the science in the world doesn't matter when it hurts the money train. Maybe someday when losing MSA won't bankrupt states, we can reverse some of this damage. Just remember, it took cannabis decades to start to turn the tide.

by thatromadoodover 4 years ago

Thats true about cannabis. It just doesnt feel the same when ite nicotine, that is only legal and available to “enjoy” in a harmful way only. Would be like saying alcohol is illegal but you can shoot moonshine into your neck only. Itll prob kill you, but well be there to collect the money along the way from ya

by Creepynewguyinavanover 4 years ago

Yeah, I got this notice from Dimitris . I've been apart of advocacy since the beginning as well. It was never about the clouds, it was about converting smokers. Then it was trying to keep our way of life from being taken away by the government. Feels like forever ago that things like vape meets happened.

From the FedEx 2021 Service guide, p 148 (Prohibited Items):

Electronic cigarettes and their component parts, any other similar device that relies on vaporization or aerosolization, and any noncombustible liquid or gel, regardless of the presence of nicotine, that can be used with any such device. (Effective March 1, 2021)

This would appear to include ready-to-use consumer products only, not raw materials that require further processing (i.e., mixing) before use.

by aelweroover 4 years ago

Is a Halloween fog machine considered an "other similar device"? Would fedex deliver a gallon of "safesmoke pure PG/VG fog machine oil"?

I'll buy a few gallons of pure VG/PG spooktastic fog oil every halloween... You betcha.

So now we label it as air freshener and let the customer print the label themselves. Are they going to chemically test every liquid? Are wax melts and incense banned?

2 points

by stabloggerover 4 years ago

They'll probably complile a blacklist of companies selling mainly vaping related supplies, no matter if hardware, e-liquid, nicotine or flavours.

3 points

by rabidnzover 4 years agoElixir Sommelier

So incorporate a new incense company? With the utterly astronomical profit margin on ejuice its staggering that people arent already coming up with workarounds.

3 points

by stabloggerover 4 years ago

I think most people always tried to play by the rules because they had faith that no matter how strict regulations and restrictions would become, following them would ensure to stay in business. It's a huge step from running a legal business to moving to the "black market".

I work for National Distributor of these products, I'm checking with our Fedex rep. I'll update you guys when I find out more. I cant see them throwing away Millions in revenue for no reason.

The Rep is going to dig into this, my personal assumption is that Distributors or Wholesalers may be exempt for the moment if they have an existing contract with FedEx.

I know this is just another step in the direction of fading out vaping, but FedEx has always been my least used option as far as shipping goes for really anything. If anyone hasn’t used DHL I highly recommend them. I know they cost a bit more but I get my flavors out of Canada to the Midwest and it arrives at my door in less than 48 hours consistently.

3 points

by COLONpOWLover 4 years ago

They typically use USPS for the last leg, though, so that's little consolation.

2 points

by cloudJRover 4 years ago

I guess I’ve never ran into that outside of equipment orders from China. Any order I’ve utilized DHL from the US or Canada has arrived directly from DHL.

I dont foresee VG, pg, or flavorings being caught in that net. The fact is that those three items are widely used among many entities and are available for purchase across a large spectrum of retail. Ultimately vg, pg, and flavorings are going nowhere if you DIY. The only foreseeable issue then is nicotine. Considering each parcel service should have differing guidelines it may not be impossible to get.

I have good faith it will work itself out. Maybe not in the most ideal circumstances, but that's fine. Those items are not illegal. It is not illegal to vape. We are not criminals.

I hope president Biden will squash that vape ban for America, If he really cares as much as he says he would squash it

Because it's healthy to vape than smoke a cigarette believe me I know because it has killed my mom and sister it was reason they die of lung cancer so if I knew about vape back then I'd tried helping them switch from cigarettes to vaping.

Cigarettes is going around like candy kids are smoking packs after packs Because of the parents.

It's wrong taking something away from people that's actually healthy all because kids are being stupid guess what the vape shops don't sell to kids so that leaves the parents you should punish the parents instead of punishing all the vape shops and the people that switch to vape to live longer.

Now this is one of the dumbest thing I've ever heard right now. Now if Biden keeps all the fuck ups Trump has done then he's not any better. Because if ur going to follow in Trump's footsteps then ur as crazy as Trump is.

So please Biden lift that vape ban or at least stand by us and help fight to get the ban left.

Or at least change it to were people can still buy vape juice and supplies and have it where when it's delivered to the person make the delivery service make us sign for the package instead of charging us taxes and holding our mail isn't that against the federal law.

People please stand with me on trying to get the vape ban left.

There's just too much money in the tobacco lobby for him to do anything to help us. This is bigger than he his,and start doing in it's way would be career suicide for him.
