As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Bakery #2 Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.

Just remembered of a couple of hidden Raisin flavors, if anyone has thought of them:
VTA Fruit Cake: I would have called this Raisin Cake. Reminds me a ton of Genoa Cake I used to get at Tesco's. Very Raisin forward. Potent, overpowers mixes, even when using other heavyweight contenders. Cake isn't forward enough, but has some, mostly that dark fruity raisin vibe. Not that I use it that often, but when I do, very low, like 0.25% for me. Wouldn't go over 1%. Other users report a boozy note, like Brandy. I kinda see that. I think this one captures pretty well the Raisin note....
VTA XMas Pudding: This resembles VTA Fruit Cake, but it's loaded with Spices. So I'm getting the Raisins like in Fruit Cake, with added like a Chai Massala (Ginger, Cinnamon and other Indian Spices I am ignorant enough to not know what they are called). Not sure why this is called XMas Pudding, maybe it's a thing somewhere in the world. I hardly ever use this, too agressive for my tastebuds. I'd use it at the lowest for a spice accent where profile asks for spice. Not a fan. Might be heaven to others though. So just mentioning this one because I do find all the spice mess laid upon that raisin cake, that's all.....
Raisin is hard. I like VT Red Dates, but I don’t know what to with it.
Tobacco additive.
That makes a lot of sense. Your tobaccos are the only ones I’ll ever try though, big boy. Put some raisin in one next time.
Never tried raisin flavor but I think it will go well with custard/eggnog flavors plus some alcohol taste like bourbon or better rum. Just a real life reference. Though knowing how flavors in vape can be different I would not mind to try it with other fruit combinations. Feel like it might help overall taste density. Something sweet and a bit sour maybe? That is how I imagine this flavor at least. Interesting how would it go with grape flavors.
Haven't had a raisin since I was 8. What would you describe the taste as?
Dark, sugary sweet, and a little musty. Similar to dates, prunes, and dried figs if you’ve had any of those in the past couple decades
One time, in elementary school, I put some grapes from lunch in my pocket and made my way to class with them. I stowed them away in my desk for clandestine consumption...but I forgot about them. Cut to the end of the year and we are cleaning out our desks...yep...now nestled in the back, a small handful of raisins.
Your school must’ve had a fairly dry climate, my desk would’ve just made rotten grapes
Raisin Rum (Flavorah) is the only flavor I have atm. Looking forward to see if there are some that I'm missing. Raisin Rum (Flavorah) is really good with Flavorah tobaccos imo. Any suggestions for a cereal with raisin and some berries?
I’ve got some “Raisin Bran with GroceryBoy_Jr” by Rugly (ELR recipe) waiting for me to try this weekend. If it’s good, maybe it would still work with some berries added to it. Also, One On One’s Raisin Flakes v2 is a workable flavor.
There isn't actually a straight raisin flavor that's any good is there? (Not that there's anything wrong with rum-soaked raisins, but that is quite a different flavor than just raisins.)
Ask me again next week but if I had to answer now I’d say your best bet is probably using VT Red Dates or FLV Fig/Sweet Fig for raisin in a mix. Close enough. As far as a straight raisin vape? I wouldn’t recommend trying to do that at all.
FLV Sweet Fig is my go-to dried fruit flavor, I use it frequently in small amounts to add subtle notes of dark sweetness.
Sometimes I think these FOTW topics are too narrow for useful discussion. I'd have had a lot more to say had the topic been "dried fruit", rather than just "raisin".
I just thought about raisins a few days ago. There is a wholemeal biscuit bar snack named Balisto. This is the recipe for the Purple wrapper. from the German community.
The raisin would go in the in the Muesli-mix (green wrapper), which I liked most as a kid. It’s with a milk cream topping with raisins and hazelnuts. Maybe someone has an idea for a good recipe.
ID10T better not have 94 flavors this week! Raisin is not the easiest to work with. I find fig can help build the profile.
can we get an eggplant week in honorable memory of dildogate?
Ps. I hate raisins
LOL. If an eggplant flavor or two existed I’d be happy to accommodate your request, but I’ve never seen one.
Only one I have is flv raisin rum and I love this stuff! I mix it with pudding, banana nut bread, custard, tobacco, blueberry muffin, VT red dates, I like it so much I even vape it solo! Going to buy some flavors this week so hopefully there's one or two that will be added to my cart after the show!
Raisin Hell, For me its for the Tobaccos and Boozles" TPA raisin No Freakin Way, FLV Rum n Raisin now thats a different story" For me it works wonders with Most FLV Tobaccos or HS Churchill , which is a beauty of a mello pipe tobacco" if thats your angle it is well worth the exploration
So is this where i enter to win the flavor pack? I watch bout every week, but have never entered. By the way, golden raisins are great! I get a good bit of raisin/dates from FE ry4 double. Its a good deep rich ry4 double.
