chefflavors one shots good for beginners?
submitted almost 5 years ago by HealthyInitial

I was looking at chef flavours one shots and they seem to have a pretty large selection, i was wondering if they are decent at all and if it would be better to grab a few to start off with rather than trying to piece together a first order from different recipes. Im a bit overwhelmed by looking for recipes I might like and making sure the ingredients are compatible with other recipes. any you would recommend that a beginner cant go wrong with? I prefer fruit and dessert flavors mostly.

Hi. One shots are a great way to start out. I‘d advise you to get VG/PG and nicotine each separately and a scale that measures in 0.01g increments, preferably with at least a 200g capacity. It‘s much easier and cleaner than using pipettes. In the mean time, you can check out the great resources provided by this community by reading the sidebar info. And watch some YT videos, I highly recommend Rugly DIY at the moment. He has a series of very beginner friendly mixing videos with recipes. Each season calls for 20 flavorings to buy and will allow you to mix each recipe presented per episode. It gives a good structure when you’re just starting out. And, of course, come join our Discord for fun and flavor talk! Good luck.

Chef's has an Amazing selection of one shots. Find ones that sound good to you and check them out. I'm sure others will be along shortly to give you recommendations. Good luck!

Edit, You'll find quite a few of them made from Mixers' recipes. If you find some you love just remember that you can look up the recipes and make your own for way less.

It's hard to recommend, because it's very subjective. Best thing you can do is just try a bunch.

I've tried about 60 to 70 OS's in the past few years. Maybe about 10 of them I enjoyed as much as to buy them again. Not saying they are mostly bad. It's because I started with mixing my own, which basically ruined eliquids and OS's for me. With a little effort and time you can get "best in slot" flavorings by researching FOTW posts and watching Noted episodes, google searching, etc. Getting these BIS flavorings and then finding recipes for them, is always better than selecting recipes, eliquid's or OS's you think you may like from the descriptions. Though there will always be some flavorings that you don't like, because of the subjectivity.

What I do is just add a OS or two to my flavor orders. Often, this would be a OS from a flavor profile that I don't usually mix in. I'll give that profile at least two chances with different brands or flavor combo's. This eliminates some of the disappointment that results from mixing experience. Meaning: Getting surprised by a OS that contains a particular flavoring you don't like. Obviously this works the other way around too. Say you find a OS you really like, it's going to be hard to find the particular flavorings used in it unless you have a tonne of experience. But in that case you can just buy the OS.

These are some that I like(d) a lot and/or know are highly rated:

Chefs Fantasy line Mixed Berries. Mix at 12%, add a little sweetener and/or WS23 to preference.

SheerluckOhms Scotch my Custard. A butterscotch custard. It's currently sold out, but maybe if enough people wishlist it, they will stock it again.

Vampire Vapes Pinkman is a classic. It's a fruity rhubarb mix. I've went through a ridiculous amount of this.

T-juice's Red Astaire is another classic. It's red fruits, mint, anise and eucalyptus. Great for MTL.

DrVapes(uk) Pink Colada. Only if you don't mind re-wicking every 3 to 4 days though. It's basically Pinkman (which is INW Pink Panther) with coconut, blackcurrant and a bunch of cotton candy (EM) with WS23. Mix at 16.5% to get 180mls out of the 30ml conc.

A&L OS's get a lot of good rep. Still haven't tried.

Cassadega Canoli Be One has a lot of fans.

Twisted Imagination Oasis. Fruity mix with kiwi, strawberry, carrot cake among a few others. The recipe is on ELR.

If you want an even greater selection go to eliquidflavourconcentrates(UK).

They carry Bastard Club OS's. Nitro Berry and Mad Mango are pretty awesome. You can mix these at 12%.

El Diablo's Passion Bomb. Passionfruit, apple, raspberry.

Mohawk&Co's Fizzy Wild berries. Has a little ws23.

Have fun!

Cannoli Be One is fantastic. Same with their Nuts and Reserve (now Cookies) flavors. Glad they're making that in a oneshot.

This is how I got started, it's a great way to dip your toe in.

Mexican Fried Ice Cream, Kwal Bakes Well, and Nice Custard Cream are a few personal favourites.

Blue Lush is also a good shout if you're into that, with a wonderfully low mixing % (which makes it relatively cheap).

I started with doing recipes, but honestly one shots concentrates are a good way to start. I tend to actually only do the one shot concentrates now, just find ones I think I like and try those out. cba'd to do recipes and keep all the single flavours. It's still a lot cheaper than buying premade juice, and I've found some that I've been surprised on liking, which I'd have never made from scratch.

I'd recommend the Tickle Me Pink one if you like fruits, it needs a couple of days to calm down once you've mixed it but it's a good fruit mix.

If u like lemons chefs has the two best lemon one shots I have ever had . Tarte au citron is a perfect lemon tart and grandma’s lemonade is a perfect cloudy lemonade, on average their one shots are great. They are local to me so they are my one stop shop when comes to anything flavour related

+1 for Grandma's Lemonade, it's excellent on its own as well as with additions (I like adding some strawberries to it).

If you want to quickly mix something half-decent, yes.

If you're a perfectionist like myself, though, you're better off finding recipes to mix from scratch as then you'll be able to adapt and fine-tune them to your liking.

Also, you will learn more by mixing from scratch.

Oneshots are a decent way to start, find out what you like and don't like, learn the basics of mixing. Saves you a lot of initial frustration and upfront investment.

I think it is good to have a balance of DIY and some one shots. It is good to have a base line to make some comparisons to vs 'commercial" ejuice which can be even more hit and miss. I would check out diyflavorchaser.com as well as https://www.chefsflavours.co.uk/ . I have one shots there but my recipes are also online for the community.
