Noted Ep. 178: WINE (ft. EyeMSam)
(Ranked from worst to first)
OOO Merlot: ID10-T thought it was kind of nasty because it had a pink bubblegum base. Like pink bubblegum mixed with grape bubblegum and some earthiness. Sam got earthy, grape skin notes. Thought it was kind of similar to OOO Red Wine, but less grape-y. Cheeba got a pretty strong pink bubblegum note and thought it leant towards red liquorice with an earthiness on the finish. Sam tested at 3%. Cheeba tested at 4%, may have been a bit too high.
6.43
FW White Wine: Emily ranked this pretty low, but thought FW Red Wine was worse. But may be because she doesn't like red wine. Not a lot of flavour, pretty soft at 2% and 3%. What there was was sweet white grape with a side of yeast. Genuinely fermented, but more in the way beer is, rather than wine. No boozey-ness. Just yeasty. Like prison wine made from grape juice and bread (not that it tastes of bread, just for the yeasty-ness). Unpleasantly thick. ID10-T tested at 2%. Sam tested at 3%.
10.32
FW Merlot: CONTAINS SUGAR SYRUP. Odd as it's not particularly sweet. ID10-T thought it's a little gross. Similar yeasty note to FW White Wine, more like beer than wine. A little sweet. Sam thought it was quite grape-y. More present after a steep (he steeped it for 6 days). Was initially pretty light in flavour. Cheeba thought it did a fairly good job at representing a wine flavour. But lacks depth in the grape flavour as well as some bitterness of the tannins. There's no boozey-ness. Missing some of the more forward dark grape flavour. Merlot is a pretty dry wine, has some of that dry-ness, but needs more.
11.55
FW Wine Red: ID10-T didn't think it was unpleasant, just very weird. Like something you'd add to a wine flavour to make it a bit more interesting. But not like an actual wine flavour. Sam thought it was more reminiscent of a pink moscato. Semi sweet. Tasted like red wine with some of the sourness, but none of the bitterness. More like a blush. A pretty dry flavour. Not like wine is dry, just dry.
16.59
OOO Red Wine: Sam liked it quite a bit. Very grape-y. Dark grape, not a white grape. Tastes like a hard candy that is supposed to taste like wine. Like you'd expect an artificial wine flavour to taste like.
18.31
FLV Moscato: Sam ranked as his number one. Emily ranked it high. Very sweet, thick, white grape, juicy. But gets floral if pushed too high. Same sort of floral as lychee or a floral peach. Comes across as more fruity than a flowery floral. Or like dryer sheets. Does moscato well. Moscato is basically grape juice with a little dry-ness and often carbonated. Both FLV Moscato and moscato are very sweet. ID10-T tested at 0.75%. Sam tested somewhere between 0.5-0.7% and got none of the floral off note. Use at 0.25-0.5%. Gets floral above that.
19.41
FLV Sangria: ID10-T thought it's delicious. It's just not that accurate to his idea of sangria. But sangria can be made from all sorts of wines and all types of fruit. Maybe with brandy. So may be accurate to some people's idea of sangria. Thick, medium sweet base of red grape. With some darker berry notes that aren't grape-y. Maybe blackberry, blueberry or a darker raspberry. Top and mid-range stone fruit note, like peach or apricot. A little tartness like that of a cranberry. Has none of the citrus notes usually associated with sangria. Not really boozy, especially as sangria often has a shot of liquor in it. It's basically a really tasty fruit punch.
22.31
ID10-T mainly ranked the flavours based on their authenticity to wine. If he was going to own only two flavours it would be FLV Moscato and FLV Sangria for their versatility.
FA Wine White: (One of the FA flavours that is not available in USA due to DAAP content) Halfway between a semi-sweet white table wine and a sweet white grape juice. Not at all floral. Not really boozy, but a little bit. Not yeasty like FW White Wine. Slightly sweet, smooth, not especially thin, lightly juicy. A sweeter, less dry wine like Pinot Grigio watered down with wine grape juice.Could easily pass for a white grape flavour in a mix. Better than FA White Grape, which is too floral and a bit dry. It's not as jammy or sticky sweet as FA White Grape. It's a little bit wine-y. But is probably the best white grape flavour ID10-T has ever tried. Tested at 1.5%. A little light at 1.5%. Seems like could push it up to maybe 3%, would probably be more of a wine.
24.52
FA Wine Red: (One of the FA flavours that is not available in USA due to DAAP content) Very much a wine, not just a funky grape. Dry like a wine is dry. Tannic, like a Cabernet. Not as sweet or fruity as a Merlot. Slight sharp boozey-ness. Definitely boozy. Rich, like some wines are rich. Lingering oak-y-ness. No off notes. ID10-T would rather actually vape a less realistic red wine flavour. But by far the most realistic red wine.
27.36
FW Blush Chablis: A fairly light flavour at both 2% and 3%. May be bolder at a higher %? ID10-T thought it was really accurate to a nice pink wine like a White Zinfandel or a Rose wine. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. Very sweet. Lacks a bit of bite. Cheeba thought it was a little dry, especially for a White Zinfandel of Rose. ID10-T thought it might be good mixed with FW Pink Champagne to give it more of a slushy texture and enhance the flavour. Plus some WS23 and some sweetener for a frozen Rose vape ID10-T tested at 2%. Sam tested at 3%.

Recipes:
Cheap Date by Thadentman (ATF) The 2.5% used in this recipe is far too much FLV Moscato. But addition of FLV Oak Barrel makes the Moscato taste a lot more like wine.
33.06
The Grapist by EyeM2sRus (ATF) Emily thought it tastes like an adult Blow Pop.
35.31
Drippin' Churries by EyeM2sRus (ATF) ID10-T thought it was like a very good cherry soda.
37.35
Epic PB&J by Jennifer Jarvis (ELR) Uses 14 flavours. But in total it's around 11% of flavouring. FE Grape, FLV Grape and FLV Moscato are the perfect Welches grape jelly. Overall the recipe is really, really good. Very complex. Can't sub anything. Tastes like Crustables. FLV Avocado adds creamy body to PB.
43.09
Drunken Cookies by matthewkocanda (ATF) ID10-T like the idea of the profile. Just not so much the execution. But it's an old recipe, made in 2016.
45.41
Flawed Vacations in Spain V2 (fizzy sangria) by MotherPunker (ATF) Delicious. Legitimately fizzy, uses VT Fizzy Sherbet and VT Blood Orange Champagne. FA Liquid Amber really turned FLV Sangria into a sangria. Tastes like a mixed drink.
51.36
Layerz - Moscato Nectar by Deetzz (ATF) So good ID10-T put it in a tank! Strawberry, guava fruit punch.
