So I have some Diy supplies on the way. 1ltr PG nicotine, 1ltr VG, 1 Ltr PG, and some flavoring all 2oz. size.
I know the Nic, PG, and VG is best stored in the Freezer. The Nic in smaller glass bottles filled to the brim, to minimalize exposure to air, and it's fine to keep smaller amounts of VG, PG at room temp in plastic bottles. But how about the flavoring is there a specific way to store them to helo it stay fresh longer.
I keep all my supplies, aside from nic, in a cooler to minimize temperature swings. The nic, packed in styrofoam and cardboard, goes in the freezer.
I store my nic in 120 ml amber glass Boston rounds with polycone caps. I top with argon before capping. Flavors I put in a brown paper bad in my closet. Vg and 0g I tend to just leave it where I was last mixing, currently under my couch. I need a better storage system.
am DIYnoob currently awaiting my first order: I'm interested in preserving my nic as well as possible when I break it down into the amber bottles but have no clue how to top off with Argon. Is that something simple to do?
It is very simple. Buy a can of argon, most often sold to preserve wine or paint. I got mine on ebay for like 12 dollars. I fill my bottles to the bottom of the neck of the bottle. I hold the nozzle straw extension into the bottle and slide they cap over before spraying. Quickly cap and your done. I then store the bottles in double zipper freezer bags to help prevent accidents if they get broken. Then I also put them in brown bags to double unsure it doesn't see light.
Hi. PG and VG are fine at room temperature. Only your nicotine surplus needs to be stored in the freezer. Flavors do not go bad, but they do lose potency over time. Like u/EdibleMalfunction said, keep them your PG, VG, flavors and working bottle of nicotine away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. Happy mixing!
> Only your nicotine surplus ~~needs to be~~ might benefit from being stored in the freezer
FTFY. Nic that you're going to use within 2 years should be fine to keep at room temperature (tightly sealed and away from sunlight.)
While that can be true it isn't ideal, at all, to assume that it will last that long at room temp. It's best practice, whenever possible, to store it in a way that will preserve it longer. One of the variables that you cannot really account for is the starting quality of someone else's nic supply. I've had working bottles from different vendors oxidize at vastly different rates, so I think the "best practice" is better generic advice :)
Large supplies of nic definitely separated and properly stored in the freezer. Always bring your bottles to room remp before using them. Pg/vg are perfectly fine at toom temp 70° +/- . Flavors are also fine at room temp, certain flavors will separate or crystallize in colder temps. Only reason I'd ever put my vg, pg, or flavors in the fridge is if the room temp is constant 75-80° +.
I think your flavorings will be in larger bottles than I normally get, so this may not work for you, but makeup racks work wonderful for storing 30ml ejuice or flavor concentrate bottles.
These are the racks I ordered, but again, they don't hold a bottle bigger than 30mls.
As for everything else (The VG, PG, Nicotine), everyone else covered everything I would have to say. Cheers and best of luck!
