Since there are so few reviews of La Tabaccheria NETs, here’s my very amateur attempt
submitted almost 5 years ago by hyperfocus1569

Keep in mind that my palate isn’t nearly as sophisticated as most others on here who do reviews. I did go and read the reviews available and they’re spot on, but there aren’t many. I can recognize the various flavor notes after reading them, but my reviews will be much closer to “Mmm good” than detailed notes on nuances. Apologies in advance from this noob.

So, here we go. All of these are from the traditional extracted line. There are many others, but I haven’t tried them. Let’s get the basics out of the way. La Tabaccheria says the traditional line is shake and vape. I didn’t believe it, because how? I’ve been extracting my own tobaccos and have tried other NETs. While the flavor is amazing and the closest you can get to the real thing, they have to steep an absolute minimum of two weeks, some much longer. But somehow LT is true shake and vape. And I mean mix, shake, and start vaping 30 seconds later. The flavor does become a little more developed after a few days, a little more nuanced and fuller, but they’re very very good right off the bat. LT also recommends that you mix in 10% distilled water and vape at a lower wattage to reduce coil gunking, with most at 10% or less (5% for Latakia) and this worked well in an RDA. So well that I decided to try some in a Falcon tank for when I was out and about, and I’m currently vaping it from a Voopoo Drag X between 16 and 23w. Yep, you read that right. I only vape before and after work and I have at least two tanks - sometimes three - that I switch up, so I can’t tell you exactly how long a coil lasts but I’m not changing coils more than once a week.

On to the good stuff.

Virginia - light, sweet, and a little flat for me on its own. I use this one only occasionally for mixing, say for lightening up something really heavy like the Latakia. But I prefer pretty dark, heavy, and smoky, so keep that in mind. This one is light and fairly clear when you mix it, and it tastes light and a little like you’re chewing on a fresh piece of hay, but not in a bad way. It tastes fresh, with zero smokiness.

Burley - I’m not a huge Burley fan. I want to be because it seems like something I should really like, but I just don’t on its own. Again, I prefer heavy and smoky, so I’m not the best judge of this one. LT’s version is too close to the Virginia for me. It’s definitely richer and has more complex flavor, but it’s still too light on its own. It’s a great Burley, the best one I’ve tried. It doesn’t have as much of the nutty flavor you usually get from a Burley, which is good for me since I don’t love that, but it’s still a little on the light side for me. I don’t get any smokiness, just straight Burley with the nuttiness decreased about 30%. However, it’s fantastic mixed with the next one on the list...

Kentucky - now we’re talking. Rich, full, dark, and smoky. This is what I think of as tobacco. It smells and tastes like a fantastic dark, smoky, true tobacco. I can’t describe how awesome this is with coffee. There’s a little bit of sweetness if you vape only NETs, but I don’t think most people would say this is sweet at all. This one is gooood. I like it as a single flavor, but it’s truly amazing with some Burley mixed in. It’s also fantastic mixed with some Black for Pipe. If you’re a fan of heavier smoky tobaccos, this is the one to get.

Mixture No. 1 - not for me. This one is too sweet for me, but most people like sweeter flavors than I do. However, if you love tobaccos but something like Kentucky is too heavy for you, I think this might appeal. I can’t say much more about the flavor because this was one of the first ones I tried and I’ve left it on the shelf ever since. Don’t base a purchasing decision on this. It comes from someone who would stop vaping rather than vape a dessert or fruit flavor and I can’t stand more than a tiny hint of those in anything, so I’m really too biased to review this one fairly.

Mixture No. 2 - much better. This is a very nice mix of dark, rich, (noticing a theme here?) and lighter sweetness, with a lot of complex flavors that I’m not nearly experienced enough to describe accurately. Maybe some berry? A little honey? Not exactly, but it’s the best way I have to describe the “sweetness” of this one. It’s far more complex than the sweetness of a Virginia. Some burnt and astringent notes, but not at all unpleasant.

And now my favorite, Latakia - there are not enough good things to say about this one. As a single flavor, it’s Latakia. It smells like Latakia. It tastes like Latakia. They nailed this one like no other NET Latakia ever has for me. Read the tasting notes on a smoking Latakia and that’s exactly what you have here, or as close as you’re going to get in an eliquid version. Even though I love dark, complex, and smoky, even I don’t really vape this one as a single flavor. But I mix this with everything I vape. And I mean everything. This is fantastic with the Burley, Virginia, and Kentucky in any combination. It’s amazing added to Black for Pipe. I regularly mix Smoking Popes by u/chemicalburnvictim and add it to that in the tank. I mix it in the tank with my own NET pipe tobacco mixes. It makes any tobacco single flavor or mix taste much more like a true tobacco.

I also got a few from the “Macerated” line, but between LT’s traditional line and my own NETs, I haven’t had a chance to try them yet.

TL;DR - La Tabaccheria is on point. Buy them if you love true tobacco flavors. They’re very very worth the money at about $9.50 U.S.

Well done fellow NET lover! Great notes there, I specially like your taste reference, makes them very valuable.

Thank you! They’re very basic descriptions, but their NETs are so on point that it’s really all someone needs to know. Virginia tastes like Virginia. Kentucky tastes like Kentucky, and so on. I just wanted to help someone who might be looking for great NETs so they hopefully won’t spend a fortune trying to find a good one like I did.

Had to google my own recipe to see what that was. Bet it’s pretty good with some Latakia! I really wish I wasn’t so lazy about rewicking because I miss NETs. Thought you did a great review!

Thanks! And not just for the compliment. I always have a few of your mixes on hand and “Getting in to Tobaccos” got me started with mixing. It was the most helpful thing I read.

Good to hear, glad it helped! Also glad to see there’s still some tobacco mixers ‘round these parts.

I'm a little late to this but do you buy these from them directly? I tried adding some burely to the cart to see how much it would be with shipping and it came out to be 45 euro for 10ml...

Yes, I bought directly from them. Keep in mind I was buying a lot. I bought probably 10 -12 bottles and my shipping was 30€ which is $36. It’s totally not worth it to order one, which is a shame. I get not wanting to order a ton until you know if you like it. I tried to find a U.S. retailer but I never did. I was willing to risk a big order because my daughter works here in the U.S. for a very large manufacturer that’s based in Italy and all of her coworkers are Italian. They’re pretty picky about tobacco, and they said it was the best of the Italian brands so I figured I’d be pretty safe. That said, if you do decide to place an order, stick with the original line. I just tried the Latakia from the macerated line and I’m not getting much Latakia. Definitely sweeter, not nearly as smoky.
