I’m just wondering those of you have been mixing for a while, how many flavors do you own and how many do you actually use on a regular basis?
At least 1900. I can't say that I use any of them on a "regular" basis unless you count sweetener and WS-23, as I'm always mixing all different kinds of things. But there are probably 100 to 200 that I use much more than the others. I almost certainly have more flavors that I'll never use again than flavors that I will use again.
I bet that's one of the largest collections among DIYers! You're a GOAT in this community, I wanna pay my respects. Also wondering if you have, or ever will, post those 100-200 flavors that hit the mark in your eyes. Would be great information for newbies and veterans alike 👍
Would be extremely interesting to see a BEST EVER FLAVOURS few episodes of noted . If it wasn’t for the work Emily, dave an CHeeba do I would have been clutching around in the dark these last 4 years . Their opinions are invaluable an have not only pointed me in the right direction but also most importantly steered me away from some of the dumpster fires companies sometimes release
I'm waiting that day when you decide to publish your hidden recipes on ATF, I bet something will suit my forgotten Flavors 😂
Lol at "hidden recipes." It's true there are more than 1,200 private recipes, but those aren't hidden, they're just unfinished. I had every intention of finishing them, but I squirreled. Told myself I'd come back to them and never got around to it.
Hell, I added 4 today, inspired by flavors and recipes I tried for this FOTW. Pretty good chance I'll mix them and vape them. Pretty good chance I'll think about how to improve them and make plans for Version 2s and maybe Version 3s of each of them. Also pretty solid chance I'll never get around to actually mixing those V2s and V3s. What I really need to do is just go in there and be realistic and relentless about deleting the stuff that's never going to see the light of day and actually buckle down more instead of chasing each shiny new idea for a short distance before darting off in some other direction.
I started about a year ago and have 50-75 flavors, but honestly only use like 15 of them regularly. I developed like 5 recipes I like and usually cycle between them.
What are those 5 recipes?
Lol I make a grapefruit cactus, blueberry/raspberry, citrus lemonade, blood orange/grapefruit soda, and standalone cactus. The standalone cactus is just INW Cactus and WS-23, but I like it and it's cheap as hell to mix so... shrug
Probably about 1,000. I make up testers of everything as they come in accept for mint/menthol, chocolate and coffee flavors. I like doing the sft, I will usually make up ones I like more than once to see if if I can imagine it in a recipe. I’d say there are about 150 that I like enough to use in recipes. And half of those I’ve actually followed through and made into recipes. I’ve been doing this about a year.
I just broke 500+ flavors. Quite a few I have not used yet, but I believe I will eventually use most of them. I make a lot of juice for friends and friends of friends, so I'm constantly concocting something new to meet a juice request. If I was just mixing for myself, I probably could get away with under 50 flavors. That said, the number of flavors you have for personal use is all relative. It depends on how many flavors do you use in your ADV & how many ADVs do you have.
3 years mixing and at least 400. I’m always mixing something new, rarely going back to old recipes unless I’m trying to polish them up. Like the OG, 1D10T said, if its not WS-23 or Super Sweet, I’m trying to use everything. I think of mixing in a similar manner to cooking, its always more exciting and refreshing to try new things, or to make your own recipes based off of the knowledge of others. Of course you’re going to mess some up and make mistakes, but that’s how you learn :)
Mixing for 8 years and have about 15 flavours haha had a lot more at one time, probably about 50-70 but fell out of love with the recipes I used them for and now just rotate a small handful of recipes that have stood the test of time. I occasionally add a new one just to try something new but very few that pass the long term test.
Which recipes stood the test of time?
Probably way to many...2200+ flavors with 500+ backups. Every flavor is logged in on Excel spreadsheets. One spreadsheet separates them alphabetically, another by vendor, and even another by category. Also, I keep one for flavor notes and another for the backup flavors. This way I know what flavors I have, size, who I bought it from, how much I paid, and how long ago I bought it. This makes it easy to check if I have a particular flavor or not.
As far as what I use on a regular basis, is hard to say as I am always trying new recipes, but just like ID10-T, I probably use a couple hundred more than others. Here is my Facebook page if you want to see any pics https://www.facebook.com/lorenzo.vapnjunkie
I’ve been mixing for 4 years and have just shy of 500 flavours , 22 of those strawberry based and I can’t even taste strawberry! Bit the bullet and finally bought FLV alpine strawberry in the hopes that I can get a hint of strawberry into a recipe. I’m also quite obsessed with lemon based flavours with over 30 of those an mostly vape lemon recipes or tobacco recipes. I love this hobby because It allows me to be creative and also enjoy the fruits of my labour. But I would say I use 50-75 on a regular basis an the rest were just ordered to suit recipes I had found online
