As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Tea and Herbal Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.

New addition -> Flavor Facts - Wine
FLV Moscato is fantastic, just don't make the mistake of using too much of it. At 0.25% it's rich white wine; at 1%, liquid hand soap.
TFA Champagne completely failed to do anything for me.
INW Sparkling Wine is interesting and may have its uses, but fails to render a convincing impression of wine, sparkling or otherwise. It's really more of a floral than a booze flavor.
I only have 10 flavors lined up for this week. Such a lazy slacker, I know. So I also have picked out some recipes to mix tonight:
Anyone have another recipe that you think I should add to this list or replace one of these with?
YES! I've been hoping this one would come up. Been wanting to come up with a good wine flavor but the best I've gotten so far was like a white peach champagne that's not so great. Been looking for help with a white wine-ish flavor though, not sure if anyone may be of assistance here but fingers crossed. There's a juice by Lazarus Vintage called Compass that tastes like a muscadine grape and it's glorious. Been wanting to attempt a clone but no luck. they describe it as a "candied white wine with floral notes." Thought "maybe white grape" but those always taste like nail polish to me. Not sure if anyone even knows what a muscadine is (I think it's just a southerner thing), but any help would be swell.
I know what muscadine is. You're best bet is probably FLV Moscato or FA Wine White but an even better bet is asking me again in about six days.
Oh it's you! You were my DIY guru when I started.
I'm either too slow or too high to understand the asking you in six days thing but I feel like that's supposed to be a joke that I comprehend but sadly I do not :( will return when completely sober to verify.
Will check out both of those flavors though. White grape was God forsaken.
Only wine I like is rossi, yes, the big jug with the handle. Good times. Thanks noted crew! You guys are killin it as always!
Inw grape tastes like some bad local croatian wine. And we have planty of those 😂
Is cooked wine a thing for you guys? That idea got me into diy, but i have never managed to nail it.
Drippin' Churries Looks to be a good one to try. Hard to find a decent cherry flavor.
Oooof I can't wait to see this one, not because I am interested in wine concentrates what so ever, but because I imagine these are going to be entertainingly vinegary! Might be some uses for them though, if you want a dash of vinegar in your grape soda mixes? I dunno! Good luck guys, godspeed!
technically it does not contain wine, but grape juice and joy can be found in wine if you will.
also it is just the right the season for Glühwein by u/EdibleMalfunction
Forget not the Grunch
Are there any Ports?
The only "wine" flavor I have is INW Sparkling Wine... This flavor is strange because even though it is mild, I seems to bully other flavors. Here's two recipes of mine that use it:
Ingredient|% :---|---: Botanical Gin (VTA)|3.75 Pineapple (NR)|1.25 Russian Vodka (VTA)|2.00 Sparkling Wine (INAWERA)|0.40 Spring Fling (Nicotine River)|0.60
Flavor total: 8%
Ingredient|% :---|---: Cinnamon (Ceylon, Cannella) (FA)|0.75 Fuji Apple (CAP)|3.00 Sour Solution (Nicotine River)|3.00 Sparkling Wine (INAWERA)|1.75 Super Sweet (CAP)|1.00 Two Apples (INAWERA)|2.00
Flavor total: 11.5% Recipe/3415103/Sparkling%20Apple%20Cider%20%23351)
Wine flavors sound very intriguing. Has anybody ever bent a wine flavor to accent a non drink recipe yet?
I don't drink wine, in fact I don't drink any alcoholic beverage but strangely enough I like vaping both fa and tfa Jamaican rum and vta light rum so maybe I would like a nice wine vape...I've heard that flv Moscato is really good. Going to order some flavors this week( black Friday sales everywhere baby!)maybe will throw some wine in the cart!
I'm probably the least qualified person to answer this, as I quit drinking nearly a decade ago lol... however I've really enjoyed TFA champagne for the non-alcoholic tasting flavor enhancement properties! Esp in fruit recipes
