As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Cherry & Citrus Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
This pack includes: Peppermint, Black Cherry, Blood Orange, Cherry Blossom, Cherry Filling, Lemon, Lemonade, Lime, Lime Wedge, Orange Citrus, Rainier Cherry, Sugar Orchid, Sun Cookie, and Yakima Hops.
Check it out, FOTW now features a neat poll where you can vote for your flavorites:

I somehow have 28 flavors for this week. 28 flavors that are either peppermint or are called "mint" so I have to try them to find out whether they're peppermint or spearmint or mixed mint or I can't really tell what mint. What am I doing with my life?
INW Mix Mint is really fucking great
I never hear anyone about that one but I also think it is a good one. Although I must say, it's the only mint flavour I have XD
Edit: I lie, I also have TFA Wintergreen, but that one is not one I particularly like.
Well, I'm calling FLV Peppermint already!
That is some good stuff, without being too sweet. Very versatile. I love it.
Yeah, me too, I fucking love that one and have even been vaping a mix with it in there at least two days a week every week for many weeks (my office pod mix). It's my favorite so far (about to try a bunch of new ones).
Fair warning for people who don't love icy menthol vapes, though - while menthol occurs naturally in peppermint so some should be there, FLV seems to have gone just little overboard with the menthol in that one. Not like wildly out-of-control or anything, but more than you'd get from chewing on a peppermint leaf. It's more like popping an Altoid.
Would you call me a sadist if I mentioned that Honey hasn't been FOTW for over 2 years? And by the time the end of the current list rolls around it'll be 3 years.
-
You monster.
-
Name me one Honey flavor that we didn't cover on Noted last time or since then and I'll add it.
Not counting all the honey tinged Cereals and Tobaccos, these haven't appeared on Noted . . .
CHF Honeycomb
CHF Honeycomb Ice Cream
DF Honey (I bet that it's Delightfully Mediocre @5%)
DIYFS Honey
FM Honey
FP Honey
FR Honey
FR Honey Cake (not sure if this counts)
NF Honey
NV Honey Vanilla
REK Pancake Honey
RF Honey (is it still available?)
TP Hella Honey
VT Honey Lemon
There's no biggies out there, but you haven't covered them all. If you take a pass on it, no one will blame you.
Inw eucalyptus mint is pretty awesome
Yes it is. It's the only thing I vape when I'm sick with the sinus/allergy yuck. Is the mint in it peppermint, though? There's definitely mint in there but I can't tell whether it's spearmint or peppermint or just some nonspecific "mint" under all that magical eucalyptussy goodness.
Honestly, i didn't even know that spearmint and pepermint were different things.
That's probably normal. It would be weird if everyone was some kind of mint aficionado. And it's difficult to articulate the difference. But, that said, I bet if I blindfolded you and made you eat a peppermint leaf and a spearmint leaf, you could tell me with certainty which one was which.
Have you used mix mint much...what is a good percentage?
I've see. .75-1
But inw says 3%
Thank you
Mtl
Sadly, I don't have INW Mix Mint. I don't know how I managed to miss that one when buying up a dozen different mint flavors -- again. I missed Mix Mint the last time mint was the FOTW. I'm beginning to think I'm just not mint to try that one.
Man, these weekly flavor threads always make me feel like such a broke-ass slacker. Mint is my all-time favorite flavor profile for just about everything. If they made a mint soda (that wasn't some boutique $12 a 6-pack thing), it's probably all I would drink, and I will never forgive Brach's for discontinuing my Ice Blue candies.
BUT, I only have TFA Wintergreen, CAP Cool Mint, and TFA Mint Candy. Yikes... Show me some awesome mint flavors/recipes, and my wallet's yours (or Bull City's really).
Well.. I didn't experiment with much in the "mint" department. I mixed this up and begrudgingly received a 1 star rating... I think that's unfair, but maybe the click-baity name earned it that. I would return to this recipe if I had a cold though! It really is like vaping Hall's cough drops or a Fisherman's Friend. If your sick and can't taste a damn thing anyway I recommend going for it. Although if you're sick, I would be inclined to leave out the Koolada. I didn't have WS-23 at the time... Don't think it would matter either way.... either one would work here. I feel the whole Koolada/WS-23 debate is over-rated... Personally I don't care for any coolants and leave them out anyway. The touch of Cactus just adds some wetness and body. Any off notes it brings are completely covered up by INW Eucalyptus with mint.
Ingredient|% :---|---: Cactus (Kaktus) (INAWERA)|0.50 Eucalyptus with Mint (INAWERA)|3.00 Koolada 10% (TPA)|0.50
Flavor total: 4%
Not really peppermint but I used fw candy cane exclusively for around a year as an adv. Its just so simple, so straight forward. I also like liquid barn white chocolate peppermint. Interested in others for sure. As always, thanks guys!
FW Candy Cane isn't really a peppermint?
Ha, well, its not in the name. So....no?
Always ready to learn which flavors not to invest in, but can you really mess up peppermint
When is the last time Orange has been a FOTW? I'd like to see that one! (or does that count as Citrus? I don't think so.. There's enough Oranges to have its own category)
10 months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/eoqaay/maybe_its_pithetic_but_i_have_such_strong/
Not only are there enough oranges for it to have its own category, I found out last time that there are enough orange-ish flavors that could have their own FOTW: Blood orange, mandarin, tangerine, bergamot, orange cream. Any of those of more interest to you than the others?
This post has sparked new desire for me. only “mint” I have is TPA - Wintergreen and ive not even opened it yet. I’ll be checking here regularly for some minty recipes people recommend!
If you picked that up to make:

then you should definitely do that soon!
I was just looking for a chocolate mint type recipe! I’m excited to see what you all come up with :)

I mix for a friend who quit smoking about 2 years ago. I have amassed quite a few flavours but cannot get them to vape anything but mint, and one recipe in particular: Lung Coolant by Rhinox04. I make buckets of the stuff. Here it is:
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/83932
If anyone has any great peppermint recipes I would love to give them a try.
I have CAP Cool Mint. It’s a super flavour banger too. It’s on the no no list so I’m looking for replacements if anyone has any suggestions.
What no no list?
Has peppermint oil in it, so do a lot of mint flavours I was just checking the flavour safety thing we have linked in the sidebar
How dangerous is peppermint oil?
EDIT: https://safety.diyejuice.org/ingredient/peppermint-oil
I can't tell you how risky peppermint oil is, but I don't think anyone would assert that it's more risky than smoking, or even close. Everyone has to decide for themselves just how far they want to take their harm reduction. Obviously the safest thing to do would be to just vape unflavored juice.
The Flavor Safety list.
Cool Mint contains peppermint oil which is toxic when vaped according to the list.
I can always add cooling to another flavour that can replicate it safely I guess.
I've experimented with mixing all sorts of stuff with FLV Peppermint. Very versatile.
Made a Thin Mint GS cookie with it before. http://tjek.nu/r/z9Jf
Also combining FLV Peppermint, CHF Minty Mix and WS-23 is a good time.
What's CHF?
CHF may refer to:

Really hope this was useful and relevant :D
If I don't get this right, don't get mad at me, I'm still learning!
My bad. That was supposed to be CHEFS.
No, that's not bad. That's a perfectly logical abbreviation for Chef's and what I would have assumed if you hadn't answered. I just don't think I've ever seen it abbreviated that way before today. And that is the second time today. I just ignored it when /u/OdieDoodah did it because he's got all sorts of obscure shit listed (see above) but then you did it and I had to ask. Now I know when I see CHF it means a Chef's Flavors flavor. Which is not the same thing as Chef's Choice, right? I usually see those abbreviated as CC and assumed to be rebranded Cupcake World (CCW) flavors.
ID10-T I mixed up some of that flv peppermint with some flv marshmallow vanilla for my caliburn and been jammin on that all week. Simple delicious combo thanks for the recommendation man.
Thank you for paying tribute to Peppermint Butler with the post picture. The only thing close to peppermint that I have is LB White Chocolate Peppermint and it is irritating how good it is and at the same time almost completely useless.
How is it useless
Maybe just useless to me. I haven’t been able to get it to work with anything. Too low and the mint ruins the recipe. Too high and I can’t taste anything else. I can’t seem to find the middle. There is a recipe called Peppermintington that did a pretty good job, but it was still 95% White Chocolate Peppermint.
The only mint I think I’ve vaped is Wintermint (Wintergreen). I figure Peppermint and Wintermint are related as they’re both minty plants. The only mint vape I‘ve vaped is Fitz’s Root Beer and it wasn’t until some guys on the discord told me actual Root Beer is made with Wintergreen/Wintermint.
First mint I tried was inw natural mint. Even at .25 it scared me. Not a bad flavor, just too powerful for me. Now peppermint and vanilla sounds like it might be worth a try. Maybe a little mellower, I hope.
Not gonna lie, thought this was a thread for pepper, Like, actual pepper at first til I read the word peppermint lol. And I was sitting here wondering if pepper is a legit flavoring and whether it would burn...
FA Black Pepper is a legit flavoring, I have it. It only burns a little
Is FA Black Pepper the same as TFA Vanilla Custard?
Hahaha
No, actually instead of that black pepper-ish “maybe my nic is going bad” flavor, it really really tastes like black pepper. I think it might be good in some dessert vapes, black pepper is great in a lot of culinary desserts, maybe vapes too?
This tread is going to cost me. Read through the whole thread, copied some recipes and now I have to go shopping again over at Bull City. My hubbie will be rolling his eyes again when the box comes in the mail, and then bugging me about how much longer do they need to steep. Do love a nice minty juice.
FLV Peppermint is probably the best available, without the added peppermint oil. It is almost too authentic though - Meaning that, if you're going for a candy cane type peppermint, this probably isn't the best option.
PUR Butter Mint is more mellow and has a more candy "tic tac vibe" if that's what you're going for.

Both of these can easily overpower a mix though, so it's about finding a balance where you get the strength of the peppermint, without it being overpowering and hiding all the other nuances of the mix.
I’ve learned so much about flavors from my journey into vaping and diy specifically. How to describe a flavor? Juicy? Wet? Sweet? I’m best with metaphors because wtf is actually happening in my mouth. Saying that as my disclaimer, I do know that I enjoy vaping mints but I’d be hard pressed to tell you the difference and, in some ways, vaping these flavors side by side is the only way to know them, by comparing them actively to one another.
As for peppermint, I love me some white chocolate peppermint by liquid barn. Finding a ‘perfect’ mix for it isn’t easy. I find I like it at 7% but you can crank it to 10% for a solo that hits the sugar spot even if it leaves you wanting. 1% Flv choc deutch can add some chocolate boost and a hint of coconut to accent the mix as well.
Got to place an order this week with bcf and gonna probs hold off until Tuesday to see which ones stand out from the Noted reviews.
Thanks, id10-t, if I haven’t said it already, I certainly haven’t said it enough.
You’re welcome! I’m looking forward to helping you figure out which of these new SSA mints (there are 3!) might be worth picking up. Also looking forward to trying this Tobacco Bastards Mint (thank you!)
I've had very little experience with minty flavours, I like FA peppermint quite a lot, haven't felt the need to try anything else so far, (that will certainly change if it doesn't land in the top 2-3 spots) I might not have learned how to mix with it yet though cuz more often than not I find it taking over the mix. Just got myself FLV creme de menthe after seeing many loved recipes with it and I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I also tried MB eucalyptus and mint and I leaned I'm not a big fan of vaping eucalyptus...
I love TFA Spearmint but I'm a weirdo n not a huge fan of mint, esp peppermint, in general (spearmint life savers don't last long around me tho lol). Also a huge fan of Butter mint (I think CAP maybe Purilium, I'm on mobile & couldn't find it). Sorry for the semi useless not very helpful comment lol I'm extremely new to DIY & just trying to participate more 😉
I feel sorry for you guys this week. Having to describe the differences between 30-ish peppermint flavours!
I've got my 30 under control. I'm missing a few really notable flavors unfortunately, specifically INW Mix Mint and PUR Butter Mint, of of the 30 I have, I've got them broken up into neat little categories.
- Flavors that are actually bad - 4
- Flavors that are not peppermint at all - 4
- Mixed mint flavors - 3
- Peppermint and not bad, but not great - 5
- Very average flavors - 5
- Different and good (at least to me) - 3
- Extra Icy - 3
- Unique and very good - 3
You make fine point, though, there's not a lot of daylight between all five of the very average ones or between the three in my extra icy category. The other 22 are fairly distinctive, though.
Another one who can't tell the difference between Peppermint and Spearmint. Not my favourite profile either, never bothered to look it up, so my bad. Some I have enjoyed in mixes though. CAP Cool Mint is nicely put in Vurve's Summers Round The Corner. LB White Chocolate Peppermint is pretty enjoyable Solo. FW Cucumber Mint didn't quite hit the spot for me after following Rick's recomendations to pick that one up. WF Double Mint I found to watery, not a bad flavour, just don't really know how to use it really, maybe in a cocktail? INW Eucalyptus Mint is just a blast, something I use ocasionally when I have really bad congestion during flew periods. Still missing out on that FLV Peppermint, wouldn't mind taking this weeks Flavor Pack....
The only peppermint I have is LB white chocolate peppermint and it's for my girlfriend....all she vapes is this recipe https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/51359#w_c_peppermintington_cookies_by_fear . It's not the cheapest concentrate....she goes through 150ml a week of that juice so....maybe there's a better way to make her a peppermint juice that she'd like and more cost effective...going to listen carefully tonight. 🧐
I dont use them all too often, but I like peppermint in a good candy cane or peppermint patty recipie. I like to use ws-23 in a lot of iced recipies and I will use cap cool mint in several of them as it does different things to fruits and chocolates. Really like a good Andes or creme de menthe chocolate recipie.
Ooh this is going to be interesting. Idk why but I've been on this kick of trying to make a peppermint patty recipe, I've gotta get some better chocolates though.
I was just talking with Emily about this after the show. Try:
- FLV Creme De Menthe 2.5%
- VT Devon Cream 2%
- WF Vanilla Cream Extra 0.5% (or a small amount of some other creamy vanilla flavor)
- HS Australian Chocolate 0.25%
- FLV Peppermint 0.25%
HS Australian and FLV Peppermint are both on my shortlist for my next order, its all I'm missing, can't wait to give it a shot! :)
Wonder if you have REKA Chewy Mint?
