AWS LB501 that I've had since 2017 just died . . .
submitted almost 5 years ago by LonesomeRhodesTN

Bought another on Amazon just now, but it won't be here until next Wednesday. I guess I'm vaping left overs and failed attempts for the next week. If I run out of those (which I shouldn't) . . . I guess I'll try mixing by counting drops. I'm assuming there has not been any groundbreaking changes in scale preference, right?

Edit . . . just got updated info and new scale should be here Monday!

I've been mixing by volume a litre at a time right now since my scale died.

At those levels mixing by volume is fine.

The more you mix the less of a variance there is by %. I drop too much in a 10ml is a massive difference than an extra drop in a litre

Yelp. Pretty much why I mix by volume there days. Too cheap to buy a scale. A litre lasts me like a month.

You might be able to go to walmart and get a syringe to measure by volume until you get your scale. I have noticed they sell one above the blood pressure machines at the one here. You might have luck with getting one from the pharmacy too. Just tell them you need one of the ones they use to measure andgive kids liquid medicine. The ones they give with kids medicine is 10ml and the one they sale hanging on the shelf is 30ml if I remember right.

Pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens give those for free. You just have to ask

Pretty sure it’s still the top recommendation.

Next wednesday? Where do you live? Amazon says Friday for me. But no, still top scale.

Middle of nowhere, Tennessee . . . there's a distribution center 25 minutes from here. I should have planned better and already had one on hand. I checked on Walmart DVD it said next Tuesday. I went with Amazon because I've got points built up (Amazon Visa).

Edit . . . Walmart DVD was an autocorrect . . . walmart.com

Not that it helps in the interim, but do make sure you get your RMA on that 501. You should still be in the warranty window

Will definitely look into that, as I bought it from Amazon, as well. Thanks for the heads up!

I bought mine in 2015 and it’s still going strong. Original batteries and everything.

I have a different scale than the LB 501 that reads down to .001 for small bottles and I've noticed when the batteries start getting low it will either count down the weight or not weigh correctly, like instead of a drop being .020 or .025 it'll read like .001 to .010 and when I change the batteries it fixes it. I normally run it on USB because of this and the fact that I dont have to replace them if its plugged in

Same here man. 5 years, on my 2nd set of batteries and I never use the AC plug. Only needed to recalibrate twice.

Hi. The LB-501 is still the best 0.01g scale in that price segment. I do have a 0.001g scale that I use for test bottles and it’s good to have as a backup just in case.

My bottles have tick marks for every ml. When my scales batteries die I just measure by volume right in the bottle. Have to do simple recipes that call for flavors in .5ml increments though. Any less and it’s just too small to see the fluid level change.
