I've been diy-ing for a long time. I've used the same recipe for years. My go to vendor was carolina extract for a while. I've gotten harsh bottles before but they've always replaced them. This time I had gotten two harsh bottles in a row. The first one they sent was harsh and replaced it with another one that was less harsh but still unusable. After contacting them he said that probably has to do with the USPS. They also said if I order it again they would ship it and via FedEx or UPS. But to do that I would have to buy another bottle. figuring it would be the same outcome I tried ordering from liquid nicotine wholesalers. This bottle too seems to be harsh. Both bottles from Carolina the liquid is brown and smelled of tobacco and was quite musty. The bottle had gotten from lnw was clear and didn't really have a smell but was harsh. Am I going crazy? I've never had this problem before. Carolina wanted to blame it on me. I'm starting to think I could be doing something wrong now but I've been using the same recipe for forever and a day. Has anyone else ever had this issue?
Try nicotine river. (River Supply) Never had a problem with their nicotine.
There are a ton of posts in the last month about how brown and shitty their nic is.
I've got some nic river that makes everything so harsh it's unusable, came brown and peppery harsh. Been sitting in my fridge a year or so just in case I decide I'll change my mind. Every time I run out of nicotine I use it to try and stretch until my next order and it's so bad I usually just buy something premade local to tide me over.
Really! I won’t buy PurNic from them because I have gotten nasty stuff too many times. They took care of me but I won’t chance it ever again. I love the rest of their stuff and buy my flavors from them almost exclusively.
NicRiver is currently shipping swamp nic
> Try nicotine river.
From what I've read, the quality of PurNic freebase is very erratic. Some get good clean nic, others say it's terrible. I won't take the chance. I've bought Chemnovatic from there when they had it but otherwise I get my nic elsewhere.
I can’t speak to their people’s experiences, but the batch I bought from them in July (smooth salt) has been great. I did notice some problems later in the summer, dunno if there was an issue with the nic itself or shipping, but we’ve had some really gnarly heat waves in SoCal lately so that could definitely be affecting things. I’ve had a bunch of days in the 100’s like 10 minutes from the beach in San Diego the past couple months
You replied to the last thread about Carolina shipping out bad nic and it's been pretty rare to see anyone complain about them over the last 5 years or so. I'm guessing they've got something going on and it isn't "USPS is microwaving your package"
I should probably post up a new vendor review thread for them to see if this has become a more common experience for people.
Does it have that distinctive aroma of stale black pepper (oxidized nicotine), or does it just have more of a throat hit than you're used to?
More throat hit and it smells like tobacco.
OK, so not oxidized then. Very fresh nicotine may have tobacco leaf aroma, which in time morphs into the familiar earthy/musty aroma we've come to expect.
I got bad nic recently from nic river... Seems like some bad nic going around. To their credit... They ended up refunding me for my 500ml no questions asked so I will continue to do business with them. I just won't buy their nic. It tasted like an old half filled beer can repurporsed into an ash tray.
Contacted lns and they suggested my juices pH is off. Has anyone heard of such a thing? he says it's most likely because I'm using such a low percentage in my mix. I'm only using about 1% flavoring but I'm not sure that I've ever experienced it before.
I heard about that a long time ago but have since forgotten where?
Did you recently change your pg or vg? New bottle of flavors?
Maybe try them separately, it might not be the nic?
Pardon, but that sounds like a BS excuse from them. Flavors are pretty much all PG with some flavour molecules, which would mean the pH of each and every VG heavy juice is off because a lack of PG in it. Really? No.
I think it's more like "You are not using enough flavoring to cover the shitty taste and harshness of our nic."
I want to throw this out there because I have heard nothing but good things about CXTC on reddit.
I got a bad batch. It was amber right out of the bottle and smelled. I used a teeny tiny 1% mg/ml in a heavily flavored batch and the entire thing tastes like an RY4. It's a strawberry recipe, and all I can taste is cigarettes. The dropper was still depressed when I got it, and it wen't in the fridge as soon as I scooped it off the porch.
I'd normally not care, but unlike OP, they haven't gotten back to me. I messaged them on the website with my email and order number on Friday morning if memory serves. It's now Tuesday night, no response. I have to order from another vendor and, from lack of response, probably eat the cost.
They may still get back to me, and covid is ramping up again. I get it, but that doesn't change the fact that I need to go and buy more Nic from another vendor because I'm out, and this stuff is unusable.
OP is not crazy. Carolina Extract didn't live up to the reputation they have here. YMMV
Yeah. On my third vendor now, liquid nicotine wholesaler was a bust. Also harsh. Liquid barn will be here Friday. Fingers crossed.
