I usually only mix 30 to 60ml at a time, unless I have something that needs to steep for a while. Since I'm not a professional and do all my mixing at my desk, I don't have things like graduated cylinders and electric stirrers.
If you use a 30ml bottle to mix 30ml, there's not a lot of room left in the bottle, so shaking to mix takes a lot of shaking.
Well I'm here to tell you: I am a genius. Take a 60ml bottle, put all your ingredients, cap, and shake! There's so much extra room that it mixes up so much faster. Then you can just empty it into a 30ml bottle for storage.
Who's gonna nominate me for a nobel prize?
30ml bottles I mix 25ml in, 60ML, 55ml mix etc...
Well look at you trying to belittle my amazing discovery!
I'll nominate both of us, even though it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize this myself lol
Wow u must b vaping god
Come hither and give heed.
If someone is using a graduated cylinder to mix, you're doing it wrong.
I made a silly mistake and recent picked up a DIY Kit from riversupply co, it comes with the tools to measure by volume or optionally with a scale for measuring by weight.
I certainly use the funnels enough, although I'd rather have glass ones, and the small 50mL beaker and 10mL graduated cylinder I use for "drip plates" to hold the funnels and keep PG and VG separated, not that it really needs to be done but, still.
As for the 10 unicorn bottles, I filled those to distribute my VG, after realizing that PG likes to shoot out when the bottle just gets turned. So I used some extra dripper bottles for my PG.
Lastly is the lure locks and blunt tips, i have zero idea what i could ever use those for.
You can get larger condiment style bottles that have Yorker caps for your bases. Liquid barns PG and VG bottles are also amazing. I don't think I have a need for funnels. Not sure what you mean by keeping PG and VG separated.
The syringes are for measuring flavors or nic.
Idk if that's what it's called, I never took chemistry.
Well there is, in existence, a measuring device called a graduated cylinder. I cannot confirm or deny if that is what you are thinking of. But those two things aren't used by "professional" mixers. Whatever you meant by that.
My last step is to add VG. I don't fill it up all the way. I leave room for shaking. Once I've shaken it thoroughly enough, I top it off. I give it another few shakes for good measure but for the most part it's already well blended.
I start with nic and then add PG then flavors then vg. I cap it and give it a good shake and then a two minute hot bath, shake again and that's it.
I've tried everything to speed up steeping from extended hot baths, milk frothers, strapping my girlfriends vibrator to the bottle, paint mixing machines, and electric stirrers... Nothing beats a good shake every few days and plain old time.
The only issue is that you now have a lot of extra air in the bottle to oxidize your nic.
It's not gonna oxidize that fast would it? I move it over to a 30ml bottle right after shaking.
Good of you for contributing here. :)
Which Nobel are you going for, by the way? Not sure you can earn the Peace Prize. But if you did win the million dollars awarded with one, that'd buy a heckuva lotta DIY supplies, wouldn't it?
100% do it people! I started doing this a few months ago (after 2 years of diy). I ran out of 15ml test bottles so made 15ml in a 30ml. The amount of air that gets into the juice using this method makes it look so cloudy/milky for a while, and in my opinion reduces the steep time as well. Good job for sharing the discovery though! +1 nomination lol
I've been told this is the wrong way to do it, but I mix everything in a 100ml beaker and stir it up before I empty into my 60ml bottles.
What I do is just put my 60ml bottles In a pot on the stove on lowest heat for a half hour or so and come in and shake them every 10 minutes or so. When the ejuice is heated up it mixes 10,000 times easier, especially if it's a high VG. I've also found it steeps the liquid a bit so I can shave a week or so off of the steep time.
If you don't want to heat the bottles on the stove (I was apprehensive at first, but it's worked great) you can fill a microwave safe cup up with rice, nuke it for 45-60 seconds and shove your bottle in there for 5-10 minutes and it will get the juice a nice, easily mixable consistency. You can even reuse the same cup of rice every time!
If youre really lazy you can just run it under hot tap water that will do the trick too.
I'm not a chemist but I feel like heating it up is the only way to really get everything mixed completely, just because pg and vg are such vastly different consistencies.
When you heat up your juice the vg becomes the same consistency as the pg and naturally it's going to mix much much better. Give her a good shake and it's like a little jacoozi in there just bubbles out the ass.
Wow, go through all that to share my experience and get downvoted. Fuck you guys.
