are vaping flavors (without nicotine) safe for food use?
submitted about 5 years ago by x61525

I saw a post mention using flavors for iced drinks. Are the flavors sold for vaping OK to eat? I like the no-calorie flavored waters and thought this might be an inexpensive, convenient way to add flavor to plain water.

"Vaping flavors" started out as repacked food flavoring. You already consume them on a regular basis.

Hi. Sure you can use them in coffee, bakeries, to make candies or whatever you desire. But caution! Never buy food flavoring from grocery stores - these often are oil-soluble and contain sugars and other non-vapable additive. We vape food flavorings, but they are water-soluble and vapable. Stay safe and enjoy!

As others have said, it's food flavoring, it's safe to eat. Lots of people test a flavor in water before mixing/testing. If it wasn't for that I never would have discovered how good apple pie water is. I also use vape flavors when I make nut butters and dehydrator 'fruit leather'. Many people put a couple of drops in coffee. Use the flavour alone, not anything mixed with PG/VG. Though those things are safe they won't be helpful or good in anything.

Capella is a bakery flavouring company.

Flavour Art, Capella, Lorann and One on One flavorings are all used a lot in the Keto and Gluten Free cooking communities. Sometimes I have to rescue flavorings from the kitchen if I need to mix up juice. About the only ones you wouldn't want to use for food would be the Tobacco flavors, that would be some really funky tasting food.

It's not uncommon for people to mix taste test batches in water. They drink it essentially. Not like it's a tall boy in Friday night. I've never tried it myself. But the flavor profiles of the flavorings we mix in vape juice, are definitely different than what are in any given drink on the market. In theory it's food grade so it should be safe. But, most of it will lead to horrible tasting drinks on comparison to what we are accustomed too. In other words, go for it, but most likely gonna take like crap. But, "should be", safe. I doubt anytime is gonna recommend it though. 💁🏻‍♂️

It's food flavoring. Make food out of it for Christ's sake. TFA blueberry extra makes a candy that tastes just like blue candy canes.

It is food grade, that's true.
