Is it just me or are chocolate flavours not much of a thing?
submitted about 5 years ago by Qwertyotum

Is it because nobody cares about chocolate vape? Is it because it tends to gack up your coils? Can anyone recommend a solid chocolate recipe? I used to buy a pre-made Oreo milkshake ejuice in like 2015/2016 from Vapable that was incredible but no idea what it was called. Right now I'm working with this random chocolate flavour ADV:

TFA double Choc (clear) 6%,

TFA Dulce de leche 2%

TFA Brown sugar 1%

Cap Custard 2%

Cap New York Cheesecake 1%

And it's great, but I've no clue what I'm doing and it's certainly nothing like Oreo milkshake. Can anyone tell me how to boost this recipe a bit with more richness/sweetness? Or point in the direction of 2015 Oreo milkshake?

EDIT: Corrected brand

I think that it's just a more difficult flavor to do well, kinda like coffee. The taste of the roasting process is difficult to duplicate, from what I've heard.

Agree. And I find that alot of them have the tootsie roll chocolate flavor more than actual chocolate

All tfa

Double chocolate clear 5%

Marshmallow 5%

Sweet cream 4%

Optional whatever you like 1% sometimes I add vanilla or strawberry

This is pretty much my daily

A griffin by geek vape. Silica wick, single coil at .8 ohms 11.2 watts

edit: I added white chocolate at 1% on my last bottle, it's pretty tasty

> Silica wick

They still make that? I thought silica wick was phased out with plastic clearomizors.

So today I filled my 6 ml tank with my tfa chocolate with 1% white chocolate and added one drop of raspberry. Typically tfa raspberry needs at least 2 weeks steep to mellow out. God damn it's good! I'm going to have to figure out what one drop raspberry % is to my chocolate plus 1% white chocolate and make a bottle and let it steep, but even un steeped... Damn good.

Hi. I don’t think you’re using the right chocolates for the job. I‘d recommend trying this recipe Oreo Milkshake by Developed. I never had the 2015 version, that’s a long time ago.

Thanks for this, looks like a good one :)

I think you mean TFA, not FA? That recipe isn't supposed to be an Oreo shake is it?

Have you tried searching ATF for what you are looking for?

Good chocolate flavors : JF Cocoa, MB Glamour Chocolate, CAP Chocolate Fudge Brownie v2, HS Australian Chocolate, VT Devon Cream, VT Chocolate Mousse.

Flavour apprentice, and no it's not supposed to be Oreo it's just a chocolate something, the result of years of unbelievably lazy research and making do.

Thanks for those recommendations on those chocolate flavours, that's helpful I'll check em out.

When you say ATF I assume you don't mean the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives?

It's The Flavor Apprentice. Abbreviation is TFA. FA is Flavourart.

All The Flavors is a recipe and calculator site. It's listed in the FAQ post.

Ah Nuts sorry, it just says 'flavor apprentice' on the bottle, I thought I was smart enough to take a crack at the abbreviation clearly not haha. Thanks I'll edit that.

Yeah I took a look at 'All The Flavors' but couldn't find a recipe that jumped out at me, I'm kind of fussy about chocolate in real life and I hate buying flavors and not using them. I suppose I'm looking for a solid 'this is a banging chocolate' recipe but it seems both that it's quite subjective and chocolate isn't the easiest flavor to replicate effectively. Tbh I was just after one of you knowledgeable mixologists to give me a recommendation because I trust you more than reviews on some site, so thanks, I'll check out the ones you mentioned, that's really helpful

I think /u/Lwn3 has a point... especially for those that are not only big into eating chocolate but rather particular on which kind or even the brand. Some might call that being finicky or being a snob.... doesn't matter.

I friggin love chocolate. Especially Godiva milk chocolate. But I can't afford it so will buy Symphony bars (by Hershey). Miles apart in how good it is and even more so by how much the price difference is.

So when I vape chocolate, it might come across like a chocolate mix you'd put into milk, a syrup of some kind or an old candy bar. Or maybe it's got a hint of cake or brownie to it. It could be muddy, flat or have a weird off note. The only way I'd ever find the one I'd like is to buy up every single chocolate flavoring and taste them. Or choose to settle with what I have. Which is kinda what happens for chocolates and coffees.... but that's just me.

ID10-T did discuss various chocolates in the SFT threads and in Noted episodes. If your'e not familiar with Noted, it's the YouTube series he does with other DIY'ers. :)

Yeah everyone's different. For me it's all about dark chocolate and it seems like that's hard to replicate.

Thanks, this Noted episode is interesting

If you are after Oreo, it's not quite chocolate. I made a commercial recipe for that profile that tastes exactly like liquid oreo. I am willing to share the recipe to help you out but only in private message with the understanding that it will not be published in any form as it's still in production.

There are more qualified people to give you advice on your recipe percentages. But I just wanted to chime in letting you know that Mayan Milk by Folkart is pretty good. Aside from that, the commercial eliquid “Golden Ticket” by Met4 is the best I’ve had. However, they all fail to capture a true, rich chocolate flavor. Instead, they seem to overcompensate with caramel or butterscotch in an effort to simulate chocolate.

Yeah that's what I'm finding, seems like a tough one, what do I know about my taste buds maybe it's the caramel I'm after anyway who knows. I'll take a look a golden ticket, thanks

I dont know about Oreo Milkshake but Golden Ticket clones are what I go for for choco milk type things.

Golden ticket is like the gold standard for chocolate vape juice imo.

The only chocolate-y vape that I liked is Cuprian. Any personal attempts to produce anything with chocolate failed miserably.

All I've wanted is a good chocolate flavour but they seem hard to find. There's one called Chocolate Milk by Byron Bay Cloud Co that is fantastic however

All I use is TFA Double Chocolate Clear (2%) with FW Bavarian Cream (1%)and a touch of Now Stevia (.5%) ADV

I will, now and then, throw some type of Cheese Cake in the tank with it...

How do you guys feel about adding Acetyl Pyrazine to chocolate? I heard that was good?

Noted has a good episode in chocolates. It’s a damn fickle flavor profile but apparently Devon Cream is an excellent chocolate.

FLV Chocolate Deutsch has a great chocolate flavor. Comes with baggage as it's a german chocolate cake. Also heard VT Chocolate Mousse is nice.

I love vaping chocolate and to me, double chocolate clear is the worst chocolate flavor that I have. If you want a good one, try VT Devon Cream. A super simple mix that's really delicious is 3% VT Devon Cream + 1% INW Marzipan + 0.5% Super Sweet. Pretty much any chocolate mix needs sweetener.
