Your Single-Flavor Test [SFT] Results
submitted about 5 years ago by RancerDS

Week 76

Aloha fellow DIY'ers!

Welcome to yet another weekly edition of single-flavor testing. Please share your thoughts here.

Was just reading a post in the "What are you Vaping" thread and seen someone asking for a DIY'ers thoughts on CAP Cranberry if they'd done the SFT. While it's great that people make a specific post for their results or respond in a comment upon another thread, it's not necessarily as beneficial as if it's done within this thread. Because there are indexes that help locate these contributions faster. One of those resources is the cross-reference by vendor and yet another is a compilation of multiple sourcing for information available as a Google sheet. The latter is especially helpful and it's easy to see that others are using it because there is typically 4-6 users on it at any one time.

EXAMPLE from /u/Takemetothedumpster (snipped):

>River Rainbow Sherbert
>
><snip>
>
>7% at 70/30 was perfect. It's citrusy on the inhale and has a candy raspberry on the exhale. It tastes exactly like those yellow red and blue italian ices. It has pretty smooth rich flavor.

While you can go into great detail if you'd prefer, you can just illuminate us on how you perceived a flavor to be. For those that want actual full reviews, check out this link. And if you want to access the Wiki for this thread, start here. When getting the links for this paragraph, happened upon another Google Sheet that has the links to YouTube vids.

Isn't it great how many wonderful resources we have at our disposal? A huge KUDOS to all here that makes this possible!! Your efforts to make information much more accessible is sincerely appreciated!

Since mid 2019 Real Flavors was acquired by DIY Flavours out of Canada and is now being sold under the brand of Real Flavours Canada. I’ll be testing the OG flavors but DIY Flavours Canada claims we’ll get the same premium quality Real Flavors concentrates as before.

At the end of each review I’ll be doing a bonus test by adding 0.75% TFA Pomegranate that contains Triethyl Citrate which we know helps to emulsify your mixes, make your fruits pop, and keep them from evaporating in your bottle.

RF Strawberry SC

Description: Natural, rich, ripe and sweet… our Strawberry flavor presents the juicy, familiar taste you’d expect from hand-picked strawberries on the farm.

Day 1 - Throat hit 2/10. Smooth off the shake. This is a light strawberry, fresh and ripe. Realistic flavor and light vapor. I’m tasting a bit of strawberry syrup.

Day 3 - Throat hit 2/10. A bit more of the same so not much has changed. I can tell this needs a bit of support to bring it out or you can use this as a supporting flavor for other bright berries. A full sweet strawberry that isn’t particularly juicy.

Day 7 - Throat hit 2/10. Solo I find this a bit airy but it is a great sweet strawberry at 2%. I really should have tested all these flavors at around 2.5% but what’s done is done. So happy I can taste strawberries as this one is really nice even on it’s own.

Bonus - Adding 0.75% TFA Pomegranate didn’t have the effect I was looking for. At 1.5% it doesn’t steal the show but doesn’t seem to make an appearance either. It probably will shine more once you start pairing this with other flavors.

RF Blueberry SC

Description: Native to North America, blueberries come in second only to strawberries in terms of berry popularity. Now you don’t have to wait for them to be in season. You can enjoy the sweet, succulent taste of blueberries with our flavoring any time of year.

Day 1 - Throat hit 6/10. A little weak at 2% but it is a good percentage for starting out with. Well, it’s blueberry alright. I probably should have tested at 2.5% which is closer to the average usage reported by ATF. Pretty good too, more realistic than candy.

Day 3 - Throat hit 4/10. Much the same as day one just much smoother. I could see me finding use with this in bakery type profiles or dairy.

Day 7 - Throat hit 1/10. Quite smooth now. This is not a bright blueberry but with a little support you could make it lean towards sweets. Body is a bit empty and mouth feel is pretty average but this is a fine blueberry. Like with all blueberries a bit of lemon would make this pop.

Bonus - Adding 0.75% TFA Pomegranate improved it to a degree but nothing really noticeable. Taking it to 1.5% it starts to take over but the blueberry is still present and flavor is improved. You could probably use this to increase the lasting power in case this Blueberry is a fader but I haven’t tested that far.

Bonus Bonus - Adding 0.4% FE Lemon really brightened the blueberry up. I may have over did it though as it’s now a blueberry lemonade. Still good just not a blueberry anymore. I’ll update in three days.

RF Watermelon SC

Description: Nothing says summertime quite like our sweet, natural watermelon. Now you can satisfy your juicy melon cravings any time…without the seeds. Crisp, mouthwatering flavor will soak your senses!

Day 1 - Throat hit 5/10. Good candy watermelon. Bit of rind at the end. Very light sweet candy. Average usage on ATF is 2.5%

Day 3 - Throat hit 3/10. Harshness is settling now. Still much of the same as day one.

Day 7 - Throat hit 1/10. Harshness is all but gone. Very sweet, light candy watermelon.

I’m very happy with this watermelon. I compare it to LA Watermelon but twice as strong. You could probably take it a little higher in percentage if you want to keep the rind since I don’t get that anymore. I feel this could use a little support if you want to turn this into an authentic watermelon. You will find success with this one in the candy department. Nothing artificial or chemical here at all.

Bonus - Adding 0.75% TFA Pomegranate really makes the flavor pop. This is a watermelon you can vape solo now. 0.75% kind of takes over so I would start with 0.25% unless it tames down after a few days.

Oh my, I'm famous.

(⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄

I loved it. It was my rainbow sherbet white whale single ingrediant.

I tried a flavor from a zample box years ago, and this was it. No cream, strong on the citrus with a little bit of sour. Spot on rainbow snow cone.

Maybe I'm a bit confused. This was a flavor concentrate that you had to dilute, yes?

EDIT: Please enjoy all of this newfound fame. :) LOL

Yup! It was a single flavor I found a sweet spot at with 7%.

And thank you!
