As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.
#This week, this is also where you can comment to win the Base Flavor Pack ($70 value!) from Flavorah.
This pack includes: Avocado, Bubble Gum, Butterscotch, Candy Roll, Cookie Dough, Cotton Candy, Cream, Cupcake Batter, Custard, Marshmallow, Milk & Honey, Pound Cake, Smoothie Base, Starch Base, Sweet Cream, and Vanilla Custard.
Check it out, FOTW now features a neat poll where you can vote for your flavorites:

Cool, i've just got 2 cones in to test for a project i'm tinkering with.
OoO Sugar Cone and WF Sugar cone.
Both i mixed yesterday, so the notes are snv.
Both tested at 3%, 316L 430F
OoO Sugar Cone:
SnV: Sweetness, vanilla and powered sugar. No butyric crap, like it so far

WF Sugar Cone:
SnV: Brown sugar note, sweetness, vanilla, light biscuit type flavor. Darker then OoO's version

Looking forward to the show and learn some more!
I'm looking forward to trying these. I also have OoO Caramel Cone and FW Waffle Cone, and am looking at WF Crispy Wafer for its potential use as a plain (not sugar or waffle) cone. Not a lot of flavors this week, which makes me happy because I means I also have time to try some recipes, got 5 of those lined up as well.
TFA Belgian Waffle is straight fake pancake syrup.
Belgian Waffle isnt a cone, it should be a thiccc decadent fluffy waffle
Are the guests on Noted this week Beldar and Primat?
I haven’t done a lot of cone work; I did try to make a cone flavor to go with TFA vanilla ice cream using Flavorah’s Crunch Cereal, TFA marshmallow, and another flavor I can’t remember, but Crunch Cereal tastes like a dirty trash can smells...which is likely from being sensitive to butyric, since berry crunch does, too. I’ll have to try the WF sugar cone, and see how that goes.
WF Sugar Cone - Not at all what I expected, but not bad. I had hoped it would be like a waffle cone, wafer like and delicious. It's more like a dark cookie. Not good, not bad either. Just .. meh ..
EDIT: Just found an old bottle of this .. It's become almost tobacco like, but then not quite there - Just has a roasty, toasty .. caramelized, but slightly burnt sugar note.
Still not sure if I actually like it or not.
Cool cool coool I'm also looking forward to this week's because Iit's a flavour I don't have a whole heap of knowledge around.
I also have the common cones - FW Waffle Cone, WF Sugar Cone - and, u/ID-10T, I've also heard WF Crispy Wafer is meant to go well with Sugar Cone as a cone base, but I'm yet to experiment with it as yet, I'm trying to nail that perfect vanilla ice cream first!
I'll make sure I mix up one of the ice cream cone recipes in my list this week and get back with any interesting notes.
My favourite types of cones are the crunchy waffle cones, just plain, but those extra fancy ice-cream shop waffle cones that have been dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.. or like in a drumstick/cornetto.. ...mmm...cones..
RIP INW Waffle
Seriously though, I’ve still got about 9.8ml of my original INW Waffle and it’s still the closest thing I’ve found to replicate a waffle cone. This week’s project will be to try it in a mix with WF Crispy Wafer and the Ice Cream Trinity.
I feel sad for those who never got the chance to sample the majesty that is INW Waffle before they ruined it.
INW Biscuit makes an OK cone, especially if you don’t have any specific cone flavours. 0.5-1% reads as a cone and seems to work with pretty much any type of ice cream flavour. There are more accurate cones out there but it’s still tasty - I’d put INW biscuit in everything if i could though!
I quite agree with that. One of the first recipes I mixed, way back when, was Wayne's Strawberry Vanilla Ice Cream Cone, and was dazzled how he made that INW Biscuit work as the Cone. Probably the first recipe that opened my eyes to the potential of DIY. A few cones in the market nowadays, but good you mention the old classic INW Biscuit. Works wonders in combination with WF Crispy Wafer. oooNaSuGamisooo has an excellent recipe using this combination called Vanilla Cream Wafer, worth checking out....
Nice! I still haven't tried any cone flavors but I'm certainly looking forward to this one. I imagine a good cone would help with a thin butter cookie mix, I think it would give it the overcooked edge. unless I'm way off & I don't remember how either taste like irl
Haven’t gotten OOO Sugar Cone yet so I’ve been using WF Crispy Wafer with a touch of Cap Sugar Cookie to make cones for fruity ice creams. For me, the brown sugar notes in WF Sugar Cone works better in butterscotch, caramel, toffee profiles. Still on the hunt for a good waffle cone combo and looking forward to trying some of these suggestions
Just watched the replay and wanted to say, thanks again. Seeing an episode on a flavor I requested coming to fruition was great to experience.
So, I see the flavor is 'Cones' (of which, I don't have any yet), and my first thought should be a vape along the lines of a nice, home-made, coffee-chocolate chip ice cream, in a waffle cone, topped with toffee bits and a hard chocolate shell. But... no. My first thought is a vape along the lines of those mini wafer cone candies... the ones topped with the fake, marshmallow, and sprinkled with colored sugar, that look kind of tasty, but actually end up being even more horrible than the last time you tried one!
I have no idea what you're talking about, do you have a picture of that?
I got you. I remember these clearly... they were not great.
Never used any cones before. i be watching for sure this week!
I've tried once FW Waffle Cone with CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream side by side TFA Sweet Cream and FA Juicy Strawberry. It turned quiet good as it gave me nostalgic taste of old times strawberry Vanilla ice cream, not the best I can mix but Sweet Cream and Strawberry can be replaced with finer flavors.
I just received FW Waffle cone to try a golden grahams recipe I came across. I probably have some other flavors like the ones you mentioned. Maybe I will give a shot at something of my own. I just came back to DIY as I could see the writing on the wall with my juice consumption after getting back into rebuildables.
I always forget about commenting until last minute lol. Seems like a really good pack to get to work with though. I don't have any cones so this should be a helpful episode for me, who am I kidding they are all super helpful, thank you guys for all that you do.
