With Monday being a holiday in the U.S. it's possible Tuesday is the last chance to get a vape supply order shipped before some vendors close their doors.
I know this has been discussed, but given the situation I just want to make one last call on anything we need to be concerned about as far as DIY juice specifically. It's my understanding that nicotine base should not be affected, and that the rest of our supplies will still be available because they have other uses.
If that's still accurate, there's no need to stock up on anything specific this weekend, correct? Obviously still a potential nic tax, and regulations in NY in my case make things even tougher, but just want to make sure I'm spending my budget this week in the right places and not missing something critical.
Thoughts?
Wire for sure will not get messed with.
There are too many actual legitimate uses for it that can't be somehow pinned to vaping only.
Cells won't either. Too many legitimate uses for them that can't be pinned to vaping.
Aromas aren't going anywhere, if you DIY, because that's what the food industry uses.
PG and VG most likely won't, because even though they make up 99% of eliquid, they have uses for foodstuffs and medications like inhalers and nebulizers. I use VG often when I make some candies and fondant for cakes.
Cotton? Even if things like Cotton Bacon, Firebolt etc get outlawed, go to your local grocer's and pick up a bag of organic cotton balls for a couple dollars.
I'd pick up hardware like mods n attys first, then nicotine, then everything else down the road as budget or need allows . At least, thats how I prioritized. Mods n hardware go away first. Then nicotine. The other stuff could go away in the future but there are no laws currently working their way thru the system to negate access to them so we can't fret about stuff that isn't coming, yet.
This was exactly my thought process. I hit it last minute so I spent way too much cash on hardware this week. Might pickup another liter of nic just to get my stockpile up to the 10 year mark, but thrn I think I'm done unyol we see how this shakes out.
I cannot believe that I have a legitimate reason to keep something in my freezer for 10 years... But here we are!
Single coil RDAs. AVS got 50% sale on SS spools too
Oh I've got that covered. I'm stockpiling hardware related things this, weekend and just want to make sure I don't miss something on the juice side.
Branching off this, fasttech has the black ulton hadeon clone (unlabeled on site) for like $12 and by god it blows my recurve out of the water. Didn’t realize what I was missing u til I got it for flavor.
Entheon with Hadeon cap sku 9642739? I can link you to a SS Hadeon Cap.
You think wire is going to be hard to get? This is one I wonder about.
I feel like wire , flavorings, pg , vg , glass possibly? Have so many other applications that it would be impossible for them to ban it ...but whats to stop a company from out of the states to send a mod in declared as a power bank or something else for customs
Round wire no. "fancier" wire like Claptons yes
I started collecting info and then got busy with summer work (cows & hay don't care about the plague) and spaced off 'til the other day. Spent way too much money but I got 3L of 100mg nic, like 3L or so of bought juice, a little wire, and 4 RTAs. I have half a mind to get a couple of RDAs but I had to stop somewhere
I’d still get as much pg vg flavors etc bc though they shouldn’t be banned, I assume they’ll be harder to get for 2 reasons. 1, vapers across the country switching to diy could cause a rush at a lot of the sites we order from. And they might be sold out for a while. And 2, if the majority of e liquid manufacturers are closing up shop, assuming they all have whole sale licenses with the same companies we use for diy then a lot of the DIY companies could see a huge drop in sales. Depending on how huge, maybe it won’t be worth it for them to stay open.
I think we’ll still be able to get pg,vg,and flavors but it might be harder to get from sites specifically selling them for diy eliquid
Most of the flavors we use in DIY are food flavorings. I‘m sure that these manufacturers sell more flavorings to the food industry than to eliquid manufacturers. Vaping and commercial doesn’t stop with a US ban. Many other countries allow commercial ejuice as well as vaping. I‘m not worried about DIY. I also believe that most vapers, who somehow knew nothing about the PMTA, will either return to smoking or go the Juul way. Sure a few will look into DIY, but I think the majority won’t.
Great points! And really, how many people are going back to smoking after this? Probably way more than we'd like to see, and how will that impact the businesses that do try to stick around? It's not a great situation for anyone.
Other than big tobacco that is. They're winners all day long in this situation.
I thought products that were sold before 2016 would still be available? Or am I wrong and nothing will be shipped?
Those products still need to have a pmta, and only those products receive a 1 year grace period to remain on the market after the pmta is accepted.
Everything else after august 2016 does not receive a 1 year grace period after pmta is accepted, only allowed on the market after its approved... which is god knows how long or if at all.
It's not even a year. It's a max of one year. They only have until they've been denied
Yes, I know. The “products prior to august 2016” is the part that has been savagely misconstrued this entire time. Technically, if enforcement is at max there’s not a whole lot of shit left and most people seem to be going around thinking an accepted application gives a grace period automatically. How long a product stays on the market if it was on before august 2016 and has an accepted pmta is point of its own, the process and how and what makes it to approval is a whole other shit sandwich we have no idea about.
Don’t forget things like replacement glass, small parts bags, etc. Fasttech still has glass. I bought several small parts bags from Wotofo for .99 each. Profile, Unity and the like. VV doesn’t sell small parts bags but gave me o-ring and screw sizes for Mesh V2. Amazon has Muji pads for like $6.00 for 180. They do still have Firebolt too. They have some cotton threads but they are no name but may do in a pinch. They are sold as cosmetic or crafts so they may be available for awhile. For DIY they have a lot of Boston Rounds but may get scarce as people stock up. Remember if you are a Sub-Ohm person grab rebuildable. Your LVS will be glad to help you out along with YouTube. Wire or mesh your preference.
I'm glad I saw this. FT has a couple wire box packs with just under 150 ft for $11
Whew
Wire probably isn't going anywhere. Worst case scenario you can order direct from temco. They're the original supplier for most of the wire we use from what I understand, and the vape industry is probably a tiny fraction of a fraction of their sales.
The general concensus is mods, atty's, glass, etc. I doubt everything disappears this week, but there also aren't any guarantees on what you'll be able to get long term. For sure you need a few extra mods, rda's, RTA's to get through until some reasonable products get approval.
lol I got so worked up I forgot the wires weren't a huge concern. But oh well. I've already done like a half dozen FT orders this weekend why not more?
But mesh is a factor here. I got 4 different mesh rdas sizes now (two shipping out) and who knows which one will bow out of the market then the mesh for them will discontinue. So then they'll either be coil decks or I'll be cutting up mesh. So ordered a couple vandy 5ft mesh rolls too jik
For those of us living under a rock, care to explain what’s going on?
Serious?
PMTA Megathread - Who's submitted/submitting for review ahead of the Sept 9th deadline?
Yeah I’ve been slammed with work and have no idea what y’all are talking about... are they banning e liquids again?
Is there any chance people could make devices and market them as "essential oil diffusers"? May be a way to get around this. Bongs were always marketed as "water pipes for tobacco". Just a thought.
Well this has pushed me back into diy. I haven't been into the diy scene for a couple years. Seems like the sites I used to order from are no longer around. Anyone have any good sites to get some of and vg? Also what's the best company to order nicotine from? Might aswell drop some money into diy right now before this takes effect
Hey man, who are you getting your nic base from? Tried ordering PG, VG, and a base from LiquidBarn but they wouldnt ship to NY. I have an order processing with Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers but I was curious if there are other suppliers out there. I'm brand new to the DIY game.
