250mg vs 100mg freebase?
submitted about 5 years ago by memphistwo

I'm looking at stocking up on a gallon of nic. Right now, I use CNT 100mg freebase and, but would it be better to get 250mg for the long run? It seems like 250mg in 500ml or a liter would last longer - and I would need less - than going for a gallon of 100mg?

Pretty torn on what to stock up on from lnw

This will tell you how long they will last. Sometimes I prefer to get 250mg just because its more nicotine in less liquid. It takes up way less space in my freezer. 500ml of 250mg would last me 3.8 years. You also have to be more careful handling it. So its really whatever you think is best for you.

It’s really sad that this calculator is a thing.

I agree. It is a really valuable tool to see how long your nicotine will last though. It really comes in handy.

True. I’m already stocked up on nicotine for the next 7-8 years. Hopefully I’ll be done with vaping by then. Do you know if flavors, pg, vg, tanks, and coils are going to be affected by this tax? Do I need to stock up on everything or just nicotine?

I was actually looking at this before I made the post. I'm just kinda curious how much harder 250mg is to work with for 3-12mg doses?

Additionally, storage space is also the reason I was looking at getting 250mg. I have room for a gallon or two, but if I can save the space it would be way more helpful

Won’t be harder, because if it is, you can just dilute it down to 100mg in a brown Boston round bottle with some added PG and a calculator.

Apart from taking precaution to avoid spilling and touching it with your bare skin it's the same as working with 100mg/ml

It’s really not that caustic. I have accidentally gotten 250mg on myself a couple of times. So I just walked over to the sink and washed it off. No side effects...

I use gloves even for 100mg. Which do you think is the better route to go?

Its not that it's really harder to work with, you just have to be more vigilant about spills and stuff, and you use way less, so you need an accurate way of measurement. I'll usually take like 100ml of it out of the freezer and put it in a regular dropper bottle and just drop it into my mix using my scale. It definitely saves space compared to 100mg, it is over twice as strong. I vape 3mg as well.

Which do you think is the better one to go with? Is it easier to go over dosage with 250mg? I mix with a scale btw

Just want to add the caution that higher strength will oxidize at a faster rate, so proper storage no matter which way you go.

Personally have always used 100mg myself, but will go higher if that proposed tax bill starts moving around.

With whatever option you choose; afterwards look into adding Argon gas into your bottles. Use it to displace oxygen from touching the liquid when stored in the freezer. A can on Amazon's about $12

Hi. Stocking up on 250mg/ml would be the way to go. But 500ml of 250mg/ml doesn’t equate to 1 gallon of 100mg/ml.

1 gallon = 3.78 liters

1 liter of 250mg/ml = 250.000 mg
2.5 liters of 100mg/ml = 250.000 mg
Punch your numbers into the calculator posted by u/BargeDPK and you‘ll know how much to buy.

Higher concentrated nicotine really just takes up less freezer space.

I wasn't trying to imply that the two were equal, but that it seemed as if 250mg would be the smarter way to go since it is less space. I never see anyone talk about 250mg - always 100 - so that's just what I've always gone with.

I purchase 250mg for two reasons. It takes up less space and when I mix salts it doesn’t need a truckload of it to meet the nic strength I want when compared to 100mg/l.

Tough decision. I'd personally buy 100mg, but not all in one order, from one batch or one source, just in case anything is wrong with it you don't spot on a first test. More eggs in the basket, a bit more expensive.

Already used 250mg, too, but diluted it down first for easier handling when mixing. You can work with it too, but especially when mixing 10ml, you have to be really accurate.

Example: On 10ml for 3mg/ml, it's 0,12ml of 250mg nic. Two drops are about 0,10ml, three drops 0,15ml. So, you'd kinda have to split drops. Just in theory, you'd simply use 2 or 3, just to get an idea how strong this stuff is.

I went with the 100mg. Thanks :)
