Trick question, it's both. Because both threaten the things we love!! DIY eJuice and Vaping!!!
(This applies only to the USA, but who knows maybe a government near you will want to squash the vaping industry in your country too, maybe the reason will be to "Save the Children!!!!!" which is a lie, because it's really about recouping money lost in taxing tobacco. That cash cow has been drying up due to the numbers that have quit smoking & took up vaping, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!! but I digress.)
Now Reddit has countless threads on the PMTA & what it will mean to YOU. So rather than rehash the same stuff, in short I'll say this- It may effect everything about your vape; the tank, the coils, the mod, the juice, etc. When I say effect, I means you may not be able to get your hands on it, because it will be against the law & the B&M shop that you used to buy it from will be out of business. But drugs are against the law too and well...you get my meaning. I also said "it may effect" the PMTA has been postponed once & it may get postponed again, time will tell.
Now, I don't see much around Reddit about the Nicotine Tax Bill that is winding it's way thru the halls of our beloved legislature, so here's a little nugget of wisdom on that. If this bill goes into law the price of nicotine will skyrocket. I believe most of us around here like our 100 mg/mL nicotine, we like that it's pretty cheap too- $50 at LNW for a liter, well that will change Ladies & Gentlemen, try this on for size, the Nicotine Tax Bill will make that same liter- $2830.66 which is a = 5560% increase!!!!! (I think, math ain't my good subject). Anywho, you get the idea & I thought everyone should know this.
Please, if any of this pisses you off or chafes your hide or merely rankles your ankles, please don't sit idly by, help out by joining CASAA. Just write out a short story of how vaping has effected you & submit. It will only take a moment of your time & it will save lives, vaping saved mine & now I want to save vaping. Thank you.
The idea that the FDA cares about surveys or petitions or rallies about saving vaping is laughable. No one can stand up against BT.
"If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention"
You can’t win the game if you aren’t in the club, and you gotta filthy rich to join the club.
It’s about power and having the power over the people. I mean we are talking $35 billion dollar nicotine industry, they ain’t just gonna hand that ~~money~~ power over to the common people. It’s gotta be funneled up the vacuum and balanced out so plebs stay plebs and don’t gain wealth.
Spot on Badazd. The worst part is, 90% of vapers in the US have absolutely zero idea the PMTA is a thing. Let alone the proposed nicotine taxes. Hell, 90% of this sub likely isn't even aware of those.
Yep, and only 10% of of the 5-8% of the population that vapes sees this issue meaning 99-99.5% of the world won’t even see our prosperous industry slip into the hands of the powerful few.
Now consider all the industries out there and how we are probably oblivious of similar acquisitions of the same scale happening/ed everywhere.
It’s sick that capitalism has transformed into a market where people can out price almost all competition through legal reforms
We did with kratom, and we can do it with this.
Kratom is stupid and has nothing to do with any of this.
The nic tax bill is talked about at least once a week here. It sucks but we the people can't do anything against the government unless we're willing to put our lives and liberty on the line. Ive been emailing my senator about once a month for awhile now and all I get is the same form letter back. You can't change it unless you want to go worse and quite frankly vapers are just seen as another source of income. The same way smokers are. They preach all this stuff about how the money goes to provide for the societal costs of smoking, but we all know thats a load of bull. Its just another way for the government to keep poor people poor. The same with vaping. They have demonized nicotine to the point that the average person thinks its the nicotine that will kill you. So of course everyone is going to be in favor of a bill to increase the tax on nicotine because thats whats killing everyone right?
The money is going back into the hands of Big Tobacco. That's what the PMTA is about. Thats what the proposed nicotine tax bills are about. There is no defeating this. Vaping was doomed the second it became popular in the US.
Yep. Its gonna go back to the way it started. People making mods out of flashlights and wires. The only thing I'm hopeful for, I know it won't happen in my lifetime but maybe my kids, is that the reverse happens similar to what were seeing with marijuana. Its also a prime example of how prohibition doesn't work, but thats the government for you. As Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Prohibition is a failure, we've proved it with alcohol, marijuana and other drugs, and now with nicotine.
What makes you think they aren't doing it to get the expected results? It just seems to me someone has been against vaping all along, and when they couldn't just keep seizing stuff they settled in, pulled the cord to fire up their glantz machine, paraded "the kids" and went about doing it anyway... just on a longer timeline.
Hi. In my opinion, they are equally bad. Both require stocking up, both are taking out an entire industry. I‘m set for life and I‘m sure many of you are as well, but what enrages me is that other smokers will not have the opportunities that we had. And we‘ll lose a lot of vapers back to smoking because they „didn’t know“ about regulations.
You're right, it's sad how many will be caught unaware, but many have had the opportunity to be educated on this and want nothing to do with it. I've been warning people about this for six years now and i get treated like chicken little yelling about the sky falling. In six years only one vaper has taken the message to heart. I taught him how to mix juice and rebuild. He's stocked and as ready as I am. He's the only one. Countless others have completely blown it off.
I'm just curious how this will effect online shopping. That's how I do most of mine anyway. Will it be the same situation as how technically OTF automatic knifes (switchblades) are illegal but we all can buy those online and no one cares?
Hard to say really, China hides what they are sending already, I got a vape shipment that said "flashlight accessories". Every package that is sent from China can't be checked & if the gov't decides to ban all shipments from Shenzhen, I would imagine the Chinese would send from other ports. So if you order your coils from 3fvape will you get them, yeah probably...4 months from now.
The last action associated with H.R.4742 is that it was placed on the Union Calendar over six months ago, which means it's eligible to be heard on the floor (and there's no guarantee it will be).
Well both suck. Even if one of the 2 just deal a glancing blow, the other will deliver the fatal blow. I'm sure some well stocked vapers can vape on for a number of years, but it's going to be much different than the free market we enjoy today. You will still be able to get whatever phillip morris has to sell you.
Nic tax. Smuggling/building hardware is much easier than obtaining nic on the black market.
Yes, but looking at the volume of cigarette smuggling today and keeping in mind how much more profitable liquid nicotine would be once a tax is in place, I wouldn't worry too much.
I mean, every drug dealer would probably think about switching business to nicotine: More customers, much less risk and still insane profit, even without cutting the product.
Your not wrong... but look at the volume of sub par knock off newports and marb's you see... garbage imitations. You see the same thing in the cannabis industry. In fact, that is where our media hyped wet lung vaping scare came from, the black market.
Do you guys think that VG & PG will be affected by this at all?
Nope, not unless the FDA bans additives to foods, medications, skin creams, antifreeze, etc, etc. VG/PG is an additive to all those and more. The flavorings will be safe too, unless the FDA bans popsicles.
Did anyone else receive an email from river supply saying that they have tobacco free nicotine? An explanation of the impact (if any)on vaping would be greatly appreciated.
I received one & wondered the same thing. I'm thinking it's still nicotine, so once the tax bill goes thru it will have that huge tax added to it, but it would be interesting to know if the bill differentiates between tobacco derived nicotine & non-tobacco derived nicotine.
