Notes on Notes Episodes
submitted almost 5 years ago by -DixxleRoo-Community MVP

Hey, I've been writing notes on episodes of Noted for quite a while now. I find them super useful to quickly look up flavours I'm not very familiar with, I'm considering buying or just to get another perspective. I thought other people might find them just as useful as I have so I've been uploading them onto their respective FOTW threads since the start of the year. But that means they're dotted around Reddit and annoying to track down.

u/OdieDoodah has kindly offered to collate them all in one place. They're now all available on Flavor Facts https://link.diyejuice.org/Facts000

I've got a fair few older episodes, which I'm going to post below so OdieDoodah can link them to the Flavor Facts page too.

I hope that all makes sense!

Fine on desktop, not on phone.

Works on phone browser incognito mode.

Something to do with caching maybe

The incognito mode tip is handy to know. Thanks

I can’t get it to open the links. I’ll keep trying.

Apparently it doesn’t work on mobile, unless it’s in icognito mode, but does on desktop. It think you can maybe find Flavor Facts in the sidebar or the ‘about’ section? Otherwise you can definitely find a link in every FOTW thread. It’s about halfway down the main title post thingy.

I got it fine on iPhone, but I have Sheets installed and opened it there.

This is awesome, most especially for a new DIY-er like myself. Thank you for sharing!!

I will figure out how to do all of this on my actual computer. I’m looking forward to enjoying all the work you’ve done. I’ve watched every noted episode dozens of times. Usually when I’m doing single flavor testing myself to see if I taste what’s noted on Noted. It’s truly spectacular of you to share your work. I can only imagine how much went into this. So thank you kindly for sharing! ✌️💛

Noted Ep. 28: BLUE RASPBERRY

(aired 5th December 2017)

TFA Blue Raspberry:

Just a sweet raspberry, not a particularly good one. Some may get raspberry hairspray. Very weak. Need to use very high.

Use around 8-10%

(4.31)

FW Blue Raspberry:

A little bitter and a little soapy, on top of a candy raspberry. Maybe they were trying to make it sour and it just came out bitter? ID10-T is sensitive to soapiness so may not taste soapy to others?

Use around 4-5% as primary flavour

(6.47)

OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush:

Sold as a one shot but this could be used as a main ingredient in a recipe. Decent blue raspberry, sweet, a little tart, candied raspberry. Pretty weak, need to use at higher %. Tastes blue. Really nails that slush flavour. May limit it's versatility of you don't want a slush, but may be worked around. It's syrupy which is associated with candy. Missing some tartness if you wanted to make something like a Jolly Rancher. Tasty though.

Use at around 10% as a SF.

(8.19)

LB Blue Raspberry:

Mild sour back note. Has really good blue raspberry flavour. Sweet, not as tart as some others. It needs another raspberry to bump it up, or could be good for turning other raspberries blue. It's a little lacking as SF, a little thin. Needs some body.

Tested at 5% and 6%. Mix up to around 6-7%. At 9% it starts to get grassy.

(11.11)

WF Sour Blue Raspberry Candy:

A bit brighter than LB or OSDIY. Very sweet, tart not sour. Really good fake, artificial, bright blue raspberry. Syrupy, Jolly Rancher vibe, although not as bold. It's a little soft. Kinda like blue raspberry gummy candy flavour, without the texture.

ID10-T tested at 7.5% as WF recommend using up to 15%, and got floral soapiness, although he is sensitive to soap. Also tested at 3%. (Can go up to 7%)

(15.02)

FW Razzleberry:

Sweet, semi- tart, candied raspberry. A little harsh as SNV, either needs to sit or other flavours to smooth it out. Nice blue raspberry candy flavour. Very sweet. Hard candy.

(19.39)

FW Boom:

Not a blue raspberry flavour, but has blue raspberry in it. Supposed to be Bomb Pop ice lolly. Very sweet. Get the other flavours of the cherry, lime, blue raspberry and does then pretty well. Pretty great as SF.

(21.14)

CAP Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy:

EM with a little bit of blue raspberry. Use this to sweeten an already blue raspberry mix, or another type of candy mix that a blue raspberry note wouldn't be out of place. The blue raspberry is pretty nice, but it's duller than some of the other flavours in this list. It sits underneath, not a top note raspberry. So would be good to help round out other blue raspberries, like the LB, that are more top note-y.

Use around 0.5% - 1%, 2% max, as sweetener in a mix. Like you would EM in a candy mix. ID10-T took it all the way up to 8%- tastes like very burnt sugar.

(22.17)

TFA Cotton Candy Circus:

Petty much interchangeable with CAP Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy. Very similar. Dull EM sweetness with blue raspberry back note. This is a little bit duller than CAP, also a little less clean tasting, a little more muddied.

(28.18)

Recipes:

Blue Razz Cream Slush by BillyWilly (ATF): Really good. Does a good job at contrasting flavours. The bright, candy, blue raspberry flavours contrast with the heavier ice cream and cream flavours. Uses CAP Hibiscus to give syrupy sweetness to the slush. Emily would sub the WS23 for Polar Blast. Get cooling on the inhale only with WS23. Prefers to get the cooling on the exhale that you get from Polar Blast. Or could mix both for cooling all the way through. The blue raspberry layer is really good. Uses OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush, WF Blue Raspberry Candy and FW Razzleberry.

32.23

Blue Frost Revisited by Apexified: Blue raspberry slush. Authentic, really good.

38.07 and 49.35

Sour Blue Razz by 180db (ATF): all LB recipe. Uses 0.5% CAP Super Sweet but Cheeba subbed it for 0.75% of LB Sweetener. Nice raspberry flavour, sweet without being cloying, nice tartness from the LB Sour. Really tasty. Could have more body. Could add a cream or one of the other raspberry flavours?

38.01

Blue Raspberry Candy by EdibleMalfunction (ATF): Doesn't use any specifically blue raspberry flavours. Uses 6% TFA Raspberry Sweet and 2% TFA Peach Juicy. The claim being that the combination of these two flavours at these ratios is blue raspberry. But ID10-T thought that it tastes surprisingly good with Raspberry Sweet being that high, it doesn't taste like ketchup like he thought it might. The peach does take it on a candy direction, but not all the way to blue raspberry.

43.25

Blue Gummy by FizzChaser (ATF)

47.50

BluBalls (MelonBallr) by BradH (ATF)

52.38

Strawberry Slurp by ID10-T (ATF): Intended to make a strawberry slurpy. Used 2% OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush to try to get slushy quality. But didn't come out tasting like one. But it did taste really good. A refreshing strawberry flavour.

55.38

Sailing Strap On by DodgerFog (ATF): A blue strapon. Uses 3% OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush which made it taste really blue and gave it a slushy feel. A really tasty recipe.

Noted Ep. 57: CRANBERRY (ft. ConcreteRiver)

CAP Cranberry:

A like thin, juicy. Cranberry juice. A like tartness, a little brightness. Brighter than some others. At 1-2% floral, thin and kind of boozy. As % is increased gets a bit of body. 6-8% is where it comes into its own. Feels like a bad store brand cranberry juice, whereas FLV is more Ocean Spray cranberry juice. If you don't want a really vivid cranberry, you need a duller one for bakeries etc. CAP Cranberry would be the better option.

(3.10)

FLV Cranberry:

Ocean Spray cranberry juice/ cranberry sauce. Vivid, got some brightness, but also has some depth and complexity. Has almost syrupy body which lends itself to the beginnings of a cranberry sauce. Concrete used Liquid Amber to make it into a sauce. It darkens it and makes out stickier. Most versatile cranberry. The actual flavour doesn't change as % is increased- just gets bolder/ stronger.

Can use up to 3% with no off notes. Full flavoured at 1.5%.

(5.47)

FLV Apple Cranberry:

As a SF it's pretty harsh. But this can be mitigated in a recipe. Tasty. The cranberry is brighter, tarter and maybe fresher than in their Cranberry. The apple is one of the more realistic and fresh of FLV's many apples.

Recipe - ExclusiveGirl's Cherry Morning. A cereal bar recipe. Uses at 1.25% and it wasn't harsh. Really good. Complex and interesting. Delicious

(10.54)

FLV do apples really well, all really good.

FW Cranberry:

Cranberry sweet tarts? Has candy astringency like a sweet tart. Very bright, lightly floral. After 6 days the brightness didn't fade which is good. Some may find it harsh.

Tested at 3%

(16.21)

HS Apple Mix:

Really good. Dead on powdered apple cider mix with a little cranberry tartness. The little bit of cranberry brightness up the duller apple cider base. A little bit of cinnamon. Strange but tasty and very autumnal. Usually sells out around that time each year. Powdery, but not dry. Odd and interesting flavour.

Use up to around 3-4%

(18.14)

LA Cranberry:

Like CAP Cranberry mixed with FW Hard Candy. Cranberry Jolly Rancher. Limited applications- what would you do with it?! It would be better to candify FLV Cranberry if you wanted a cranberry candy.

(23.24)

LB Cranberry Cobbler:

Bright cranberry and a lot of cobbler. Mostly cobbler, but a really good cobbler. At 5-6% get a little cranberry but a lot of the crust. ID10-T thought cranberry was floral and not obviously a cranberry. Emily loves this flavour, could vape as SF. Great texture in cobbler, which LB bakeries usually lack. Definitely contains some AP. Possible to use it just for the crust? May be able to cover cranberry? Although if you tried to cover with berries that already have a floral element it might emphasise the floral in the cranberry? For example, a lot of blackberry flavours are floral so you want to use the most candied blackberry (FW) to avoid this. Might be able to get away with doing an apple cobbler, it's not usually particularly floral, won't clash with the cranberry.

Tested at 10% as SF. Use at 5-6% for cobbler part?

(26.16)

OOO Cranberry:

Pretty similar to FW, but not quite as sweet. Still has candy sort of body that's separate from the cranberry, but it's a lot more tart on top and even finishes with a little tartness. Could pass as a heavily sweetened cranberry juice if it was paired with something that could juice it up. But it's a little bit dry. Doesn't scream cranberry like FLV. More of a reddish, purple tart berry. No real off notes, not terrible.

Tested at 3%.

(31.49)

TFA Cranberry Sauce:

Concrete thought this was nothing like cranberry sauce but is a bad Swedish Fish flavour. It's far too bright red tasting- red currant, lingonberry, Swedish Fish type red as opposed to darker, cranberry sauce red. Texture is a little sticky and a bit waxy, like Swedish Fish. Not good enough to recommend over CAP 27 Fish.

Tested at 3% and 6%.

(34.00)

TFA Cranberry:

Tastes more like a real cranberry than FLV, but uncooked, raw cranberries aren't particularly pleasant to eat, or vape. Very vegetal and green. Weirdly warm- has a lot of ethyl alcohol in it. Even after a steep, still tastes a bit boozy. Not a lot body.

Tested at 3% as SF and 4% in a recipe (recipe didn't turn out good!)

(36.10)

Recipes:

ExclusiveGirl's Cherry Morning (13.14) and (39.46)

Crazberry Crack by Jbird (40.36)

Brie and Bourdain by SlashaLO (says to steep 3 days, but needs a lot longer. The brie is savoury and cheesy in a good way, not butiric. Pleasant, interesting) (45.17)

Cranbrie Delight by MINikon (49.31)

Cranberry Sprite by ID10-T (52.34)

123 Sex on the Beach by Digital Drops (55.02)

Spiced Cranberry Sauce by ENYAWRECKLAW (58.30)

Autumn Sunrise by CheebaSteeba (1.01.59)

PART 3:

Noted Ep. 89: AMERICAN TOBACCO (ft. Fear, Chemical Burn Victim & Jerry)

Stixx Mix

(Their teas and coffees are really good- naturally extracted)

All their tobaccos are really good as they're NETS. But the issue with NETS is you have to constantly rewick. Plus you can't burn the coils off more than 1-2 times as the natural sugars build up. Although the Stixx Mix NETS aren't as bad as many others for this. The flavour isn't as bold or punchy as you might expect though.

Stixx Mix Hounduran:

Very much a cigar flavour.

A+ Blend:

Really good.

Aged Burley:

Really, really good Burley. A bit more gunky on the coils than the others.

(1.41.45)

List of favourites/ essentials:

*Cheeba's list:

TFA RY4 Double - versatile in tobaccos, bakeries etc

FLV Cavendish

FLV Red Burley

FLV Native

Fear's list of easier to work with, intro to tobaccos type tobaccos:

FLV tobaccos - Can't really go wrong with them

TFA RY4 Double

Holy Holy Grail RY4

Jerry's list:

FLV Native

FLV Connecticut Shade

FLV Kentucky Blend

FLV Cured

FLV Red Burley

Can do so much with just these five flavours.

ID10-T's list:

Holy Holy Grail

Sweet and Smokey - only one with smokey flavour

Cured

Kentucky Blend

Native

Red Burley*

DEL Trenton:

Sweet, dry, light on flavour, slightly woody, not much tobacco.

(1.53.05)

DEL Essex:

Smooth, mild, light tobacco, lighter on flavour.

(1.53.18)

*The ones with names of English towns usually are some sort of latakia type pipe tobacco. *

DEL Beechwood:

Pretty good. Woody, mellow.

(1.54.05)

DEL Burley:

Pretty great. Not quite as good as FLV, but up there. Was oddly a bit sweet. But besides that it was bold, flavourful, good burley tobacco.

(1.54.17)

DEL Cigarette:

Interesting as it was sweet and had a bit of a maple note.

(1.54.37)

DEL Cuban Cigar:

Drier than a lot of their other tobaccos. Nor of a cigar than the other ones. But not as flavourful as you would imagine a Cuban Cigar, which are very, very bold and flavourful.

(1.54.49)

*Cheeba would recommend DEL Burley, Dekang, Essex- the smoothness could help round of any of the others. *

Noted Ep. 13: FROSTING/ICING (ft. Thadentman)

Recipes:

Angel Food Cake with Light Blueberry Frosting by thadentman:

used the sweetness from FW Blueberry with FA Pandoro to create an authentic light blueberry frosting. (Pandoro may have been discontinued due to high DAAP content.)

Cake Pop by thadentman:

used a very high % of FLV Frosting

Frostings usually need around 2 weeks steep. Before then they can taste stale or nasty

FLV Frosting:

Needs a steep- 2 weeks. Before then it tastes dry. Afterwards it's full bodied, thick frosting. Versatile, sweet without fake sugar taste, rich. Can be used as a thickener in recipes to give body and richness. Commonly used in bakeries like this but could probably be used outside of that, anywhere where you would use a marshmallow as a thickener.

LA Cream Cheese Icing:

Needs 2 weeks steep. Runtdastardly uses it in her Lemon Pound Cake in conjunction with FA Meringue which creates a magical frosting flavour. LA CCI is missing some of the sugar of real cream cheese icing which the meringue provides.

A lot of the frostings discussed this week aren't as sweet as they should be so meringue could be used to improve a lot of them.

WF Buttercream:

Doesn't suffer from lack of sweetness described above. Sweetness on point. Really good flavour. Not as buttery as CAP Butter Cream but still sweet, rich. Perfect for use with most bakeries you need a frosting for. Cheeba made his Sweet Strawberry Cream recipe using WF as a substitute for LA CCI which worked well. Turned out very similar.

CAP Butter Cream:

Really good ingredient. But tastes like sweetness and butter. MiNikon uses it as butter in mixes. Not really a buttercream frosting.

OOO Vanilla Custard Cheesecake:

Tastes like LA CCI smells. Tastes like vanilla, sugar and cream cheese- a cream cheese icing! Very similar to the LA CCI plus meringue combination. Not a cheesecake, but you can use it in a cheesecake recipe up add richness and thicken it up. You can use it as a frosting or as a sweetener in bakeries. Versatile flavour. Starts to get a bit cheesy at 3%. 1% tastes a bit weak as a SF but 1-1.5% would be good starting % if using it as an accent. To use as a frosting use between 2-2.5%.

SA Cream Chantilly:

Chantilly cream is supposed to be a vanilla whipped cream? But this flavour is darker, heavier vanilla frosting/icing type flavour. Sweet.

FLV Whipped Cream could be used as a frosting as it has a lot of body.

*summary of other whipped creams- TFA is mostly good only as an emulsifier, CAP is a nice whipped cream with a little vanilla (also works as an emulsifier so you have to be careful if you are trying to achieve layers in a recipe. CAP will blend everything together) FW is a little sour, FA whipped cream is a nice whipped cream- Wayne used it in his Dewwy Boba recipe.

OOO Vanilla Frosting:

Works well around 1.5%, at 2.5% it has an unpleasant oily mouthfeel.

CAP Vanilla Cupcake:

Is mostly frosting with some light cake, bakery notes when used low. If used higher the cake notes become more prominent. Makes it very versatile. Can be used as a frosting at low %- as frosting is usually added to bakeries the bakery/ cake notes won't be out of place. Can use the cake aspect of it if used higher. Can also be used to thicken up milkshakes and add richness. (The V2 apparently has even more of the frosting element- but none of the hosts had tried this- it's a V2 so don't know if its butiric or would need to steep a while to get rid of that)

TFA Vanilla Cupcake:

Can also be used as frosting. Similar to CAPs.

FW Double Dutch Chocolate:

A good chocolate buttercream frosting. Silky smooth. FW not usually known for their chocolates but this one is good.

FW Sprinkles:

Got that waxy sweet texture of sprinkles. Really good but need to use it lower, start around 1% as it can take over a mix. Steeps in 2 days.

VT Vanilla Buttercream Frosting (discussed on the Vanilla episode so copied and pasted these notes from there):

Really good. Even maybe slightly better than WF Buttercream Frosting? A lot of frostings have a stale, cardboard, empty type of flavour. This is the last offensive of all of them. Has a top, middle and bottom. The middle is still a little empty tasting. It's very rich, full, buttery. Same vanilla that is in VT Vanilla Cream. A very complex, full flavour.

PART 1: Noted Ep. 36 CARAMEL (ft. Folkart)

Not ranked, in alphabetical order. A lot of the caramels tested have similar issues. Number one issue being the dryness a lot of them have. When they're dry out makes them taste like brown sugar or dark sugar. Many are also thin and weak.

CAP Caramel:

ID10-T gets half caramel syrup and half maple syrup. It's fairy thin for a caramel, texture of a syrup.

FA Caramel:

Not a caramel or caramel sauce, it's more to make things caramel flavoured/ make things reminiscent of caramel. No texture, very thin. It's brown sugar with a little butteriness in the middle. Wayne describes it as a brown sugar. Despite it being thin it's not harsh or top note heavy. Not astringent. Fairly smooth. Despite this not being a great caramel it is a really great ingredient. Cheeba uses it as a sweetener pretty much exclusively. Gives the mix a little bit of depth and darkness. Use between 0.5- 1% as a dark sweetener. 1-2% to use its ability to give a caramel flavour to a mix.

FLV Caramel:

ID10-T physically re-labelled his bottle 'Brown Sugah'! It's not a caramel but it is a really great, really dark brown sugar. Far better than TFA s offering and more forgiving due to how strong TFA is. Because it is so dark it will taste burnt if used too high or mixed with other ingredients that amplify that. This favour can be quite dry but if mixed with something like a cream or any wetter flavours will fix that. ID10-T SFT at 3% and the was some slight harshness in the finish, but never had this issue in a mix at a lower %.

FW Caramel Candy:

Unusually strong flavour for FW and can be a little harsh. It is however a very accurate hard caramel candy flavour. Would work in a butterscotch Werthers Original recipe. Hard crack caramel. ID10-T SFT at 1% and 2% and got a little acrid burnt sugar from it at 2%, because it is so strong this % is too high. At 1% there wasn't enough flavour. So might be best used to modify another caramel or butterscotch into more of a candy. Or could be used in a candy apple recipe but would likely have to pair with another caramel to push the caramel flavour without getting the burnt acrid notes FW has up higher.

FW Salted Caramel:

Folkart and Emily's favourite because it's the richest and creamiest and most versatile. It's not salted although does contain saline (that will wreck your coils, although not as bad as tobaccos according to Folkart). Really good caramel, when compared to the others. Maybe the best suited to be a main note caramel. The sweetness it has is a little bit brighter than you would expect a caramel to be. Maybe if mixed with FLV Caramel it would make a good base as FLV would add a little more depth and darken it. Not as thick or as sweet as good want it to be. But that can be fixed with other creamy or buttery flavours etc and sweetener. A little dry but that can be a positive- this is one of the few caramels that mixes with tobaccos really well. Pretty forgiving flavour. 0.5% lends a bit of a caramel flavour. Can take it all the way up to 6% without off notes. 3% is about average use %.

Recipe:

Salted Caramel Praline by Coop34:

(FW Salted Caramel 5%, FW Pralines and Cream 4%, DFS Holy Vanilla 1%) get praline on top with a caramel cream in the middle and smooth vanilla finish. He suggests adding FLV Milk Chocolate 0.25- 0.5% for a turtle recipe. Maybe TFA Butter would work well?

FW Salty Butter Balls:

Again, not salted. According to Folkart its very similar to FW Salted Caramel, but weaker. You can sub one for the other but using 1/3 less of Salted Caramel. Usually prefers to just use Salted Caramel. SFT at 2%.

Nothing you can really add to get saltiness, unless you want to add FLV Beer Nuts. Saline is fake news.

FW Caramel Cinnamon Roll:

Really nice bakery cinnamon, bakery, dark sweetness. Can vape as a SF it's that good.

Recipe: Banoffee Cookie by MlNikon. Mellow, easy to vape, subtle smooth banana. Good sugar cookie base. (TFA Banana Cream 3%, FW Caramel Cinnamon Roll 2%, CAP Sugar Cookie 3%, FLV Toffee 1%, CAP SS 0.25%)

HS Caramel:

Underwhelming. Expected a lot of richness and creaminess but didn't deliver. Pretty weak for HS. At 1.5% just a dry caramel/ brown sugar flavour on top of a very thin cream. There's some separation between the caramel top notes and the cream, weird. At 3% much better, fuller flavoured. The caramel and cream are still a little separate, but less so. Caramel was still too dark and a little dry and thin. Some throat hit right at the top. The cream finish was smooth and a little bit thick, but not milky or rich or buttery (reminiscent of FLV Cream). Could get a close approximation of this flavour but mixing FA Caramel and FLV Cream. Might improve with a steep? The 3% SFT only had an overnight steep, but the 1.5% tester had 6 days and didn't change much at all-time so maybe not?

HS Caramel Toffee:

Caramel is thin and dry and the toffee is really dark brown sugar type of toffee. Pretty good flavour. It would probably work well as the top of a creme Brulee or something similar. Can use at 1% or less for a deep sweetness in a mix. It's probably too dark and thin to use as a main note. Emily's favourite toffee is FLV as it's really full, thick and rich. The toffee in this doesn't stack up to FLV as is just a little thin and really dark although not a bad flavour.

HS Caramel Mocha:

Coffee is fairly mellow and a little skunky. Don't know if you'd want to use this for the coffee note. Chocolate is ok. Caramel is pretty thin, not as much creaminess as their regular Caramel which would have been welcome here. It would be possible to use this in a mix but it would be possible to build a better caramel, a better coffee and better chocolate by doing it yourself, which is true of a lot of these types of more complex profile flavours.

INW Caramel:

Smells like fermented molasses in the bottle and is jet black, thick and gloopy. Tastes very, very dark and burnt. Like the scorched sugar in a creme brulee. It's harsh and astringent. SFT at 1% ID10-T found it pretty light and tastes like it could go higher, but didn't want to take it higher- yucky! Emily also SFT at 1% and got in your face burnt caramel liquor- not good.

LA Caramel:

A nice flavour. Folkart uses it fairly often in recipes. Kind of a bright caramel, not too dry, got some good body.SFT at 2% and 4%. At 4% start to get a little bit of mustiness right on the end and slight burnt note. Anywhere from 2-3% is good. At 2% maybe not a full dark caramel but had nice richness. It's a little too dark and a little too light at the same time but compared to the others it's really good and a great ingredient.

Cheeba gets a bit of caramel from FLV Cheesecake. Good cheesecake flavour.

MB Melty Caramel:

Decent caramel, light with slight mustiness on the end at 2%. But around 1- 1.5% it's a really nice caramel syrup. Has a wetness to it that most of the other caramel flavours don't have as they tend to be quite dry. Really good flavour.

SC Caramel:

Just no. SC do candy fruits well, but not caramels.

SC Caramel Candy:

Again, just no. Tastes like the smell of caramel popcorn being burnt in a microwave. Very burnt quality.

SC Caramel Cream Puff:

Bitter and astringent. ID10-T got mushroom, like FLV Crunch Cereal. Cheeba doesn't get that mushroom off note in FLV etc but he got a strong flavour of grass. If you can get past all of those off notes the caramel is bad too.

TFA Caramel:

Harsh, astringent, butiric, acidic- bad.

TFA Caramel Original:

LIKELY CONTAINS CORN SYRUP. Really good. Rich, creamy thick-ish. A good creamy caramel with good caramel flavour. Although it's still not the thick, sticky caramel you might want. But compared with all the others it's one of the best. Coil killer but kind of worth it if you drip a mix with it in near the end of the life of your wicks.

TFA Caramel DX: has corn syrup in it

PART 2: Noted Ep. 36 CARAMEL (ft. Folkart)

TFA Caramel Cappuccino:

Even if you like coffee vapes you probably won't like this- a whole lot of coffee skunk at 3%, maybe that's too high? Just a little dark sweetness at the bottom. Very thin, burnt sugar caramel under a ton of skunky coffee.

VT Golden Syrup:

Has a hint of butteriness that is out of place in authentic golden syrup, which is a by-product of sugar manufacturing, so shouldn't contain butter. But glad it's there because it is very tasty. Awesome ingredient because it's syrupy, very sweet and sticky. A little thick. Does have a little bit of dryness and harshness in the top and it's missing a top note. Easy to fix though, just needs another top heavy flavour. A little bit like honey, although doesn't have savoury depth or floral notes honey does. Would go great in a pecan pie recipe. Would fit anywhere you need sticky sweetness and a bit of butter wouldn't be out of place, wouldn't use it in a candy, unless it was a butterscotch or caramel candy, but definitely not a fruit candy for example. Could use it to replace sweetener. SFT at 1.5% and 2% in a recipe. That seems to be a good area for it to be in.

Recipe:

Koppel's flapjacks recipe. ID10-T's Apple Side Dish recipe (not sure if that's the actual name?) (3% PUR Country Apple, 1% FLV Apple Filling, 2% VT Golden Syrup)

VT Creme Caramel:

SFT at 2%. Was expecting a creme caramel flan type pudding. Got a soft, light caramel on to of a medium bodied, very sweet cream and a very light touch of eggyness. It's not like a thick custard like CAP VC or INW Custard, very medium bodied, not that thick. Tastes good though. Still kinda odd. Has a nice sweet, sticky finish. Caramel is light, wanted it to be more syrupy and stronger. Does also have a little astringent note right on top, like the acetoin you get from a green apple flavour (not that it tastes like Apple). But that could be fixed with using it with a top heavy flavour. All these issues could be fixed by mixing it with other flavours. It's reminiscent of FE Avocado, which ID10-T thinks of as a caramel flavour.

FE Avocado:

Very oddly named flavour as it has a little touch of a green note right on top then after that you have a great caramel that's thick and rich and buttery.

VT Caramel Mocha:

If you enjoy vaping coffee flavours or like FA Up you'll probably like this flavour. It does have a little touch of skunky, burnt popcorn in the mocha part, but that's present in nearly all coffee flavours and it's mild. There's no chocolate either, seeing as it's supposed to be mocha. The caramel part is wonderfully rich, sweet, sticky and would be great if VT made a concentrate that was just the caramel part.

WF Crispy Coffee- great flavour, got some texture too. It of all the coffee flavours, this is one of the better ones.

WF Caramel Butter:

Nice flavour, but not really a caramel. Emily SFT at 4%, 5% and 7%. It's a light/ blonde caramel type flavour, like if you were making caramel but didn't cook it for long enough. Nice ingredient, but it's not a dark, sticky caramel. It's creamy, sweet and very buttery. It is fairly rich, but for something that tastes as buttery as it does it's not as rich as you would expect. Folkart and ID10-T SFT at 6% as this isn't a SC flavour. Folkart got a slight burnt note, which might make it good for bending something into a coffee?

WF Caramel Rice Crispy Treat:

So good. Not crispy, not rice-y. Sweet, buttery, caramel, marshmallow flavour with a little bakery accent. A little grainy texture. The caramel in this is more of a caramel than their Caramel Butter as it's a bit darker and richer. Anywhere you're mixing caramel in a bakery it might be a good fit. Folkart gets nutmeg, toasted marshmallow, sugary. Cheeba gets a spice note too. This is not an SC flavour so can use pretty high. 3% may be on the low end as a SFT. 6% doesn't produce any off notes.

PART 1: Noted Ep. 40: CHEESECAKES (ft. Folkart)

Ranked from worst to first

Cheesecake flavours often need a month to really steep out, like custards.

FLV Cheesecake:

Folkart's least favourite. ID10-T's favourite. Folkart SFT at 1% and got a slight mustiness, it doesn't taste like cheesecake and has an anise note. Slightly toasted marshmallow with a little bit of lemon. Cheeba agrees there's a slight mustiness but gets a caramel cheesecake. It's a fairly dark concentrate on the bottle. ID10-T couldn't find anything wrong with it. It was sweet, creamy thick mouthfeel. Just enough cheesiness to be a cheesecake without going over board. Has a touch of graham crust, although that crust is a little bit too dark. It was smooth. But could stand to be a little bit richer and thicker.

RF SC Cheesecake:

ID10-T's least favourite. Almost threw up- no joke! Tastes like regurgitated cream cheese spread. Could also be a % issue? SFT at 3%. But it was so bad, didn't want to persevere with it. Cheeba SFT at 2%, which definitely seemed too high. So could be better around 1%? Although he gagged just from the smell! Probably not worth the hassle. Folkart has a tester mixed up from 5 months previously and it doesn't steep out. He got Pixie Stix from it. Weird.

TFA Cheesecake:

Notoriously bad. Folkart SFT at 3%. Tastes like cheesecake powder with some stale butter popcorn and a touch of lemon. A definite dirty sock note and butiric. Cheeba SFT at 5%, definitely too high.

VT Cheesecake:

ID10-T and Cheeba SFT at 3%. 6 days steep. Very sweet, like a caramel or marshmallow sweetness, very thick. ID10-T got spoiled milk on the finish. Not butiric acid but similar. Kinda like the sourness from yoghurt. No crust. Very smooth. That sourness could be probably covered in a mix. Because it sits on the far back end could be used with another cheesecake flavour. Something heavy might cover that. Seems like it would pair well with FLV Cheesecake as it's missing some sweetness.

HS Cheesecake:

Folkart got freshly baked cheesecake that has been overcooked and got brown on top, to the point of being slightly burnt. It tastes like coffee to Emily. Folkart has used this flavour in recipes, just have to be a little careful with it. Could use it if your making a coffee cheesecake, or chocolate cheesecake. Be mindful you'd have to incorporate that overcooked, slightly burnt note. But don't go over 0.5%. Folkart used it in an oreo crust cheesecake at 0.25%.

PUR Candy Cake:

Described as a cheesecake with apple and hints of candy. Unfortunately all those components are present, but not nice. The cheesecake is thin and fluffy, like a cheesecake flavoured marshmallow. It's mixed with a syrupy, cooked Fuji type apple which is not subtle. The result is weird and unpleasant. Good separation. Get the cheesecake first (odd to have cheesecake as a top note), then you get apple in the middle and candy on the base. The part where the apple and cheesecake blend together a little bit is particularly bad. The candy is like an unflavoured, sweet hard candy.

LA Cheesecake:

Not specifically a cheesecake. But definitely has a sweet, cream cheese feel to it. Probably not best used as the main cheesecake base as it's more like a cream cheese icing. Very reminiscent of LA CCI. This might be thicker with a slight graham note. It's weaker than CCI but Folkart's opinion is that it tastes better. SFT at 3%,which is probably a good base %. Could probably go up to 4% or even 5%. Or use at 1.5- 2% as an accent.

PUR Toasted Coconut Cheesecake:

The reason this is ranked so low is because it's not a cheesecake. Tastes like slightly toasted coconut mixed with 2% milk. Not very rich like you would expect from a cheesecake, smooth but not very thick. A good coconut flavour. Would be great in an coconut ice cream for example. But not a good cheesecake flavour. SFT at 6%. Doesn't feel over flavoured.

MB Cheesecake:

Useful as an accent. Very sweet and thick. Great mouthfeel. Like a cheesecake soft candy. Probably wouldn't work as the main cheesecake note in a recipe but used as an accent it will make a cheesecake much more vibrant. Has a really bright, vividness to it. Has a little crust. Very different from any of the others on this list. Would also work as a cheesecake specific sweetener.

LB Strawberry Cheesecake:

SFT at 6% and 10%. Even at 10% flavour still seemed a bit weak. Underwhelming as a SF. The strawberry is very middle of the road. Doesn't pop or have any special qualities. Artificial, but not quite candy strawberry. The cheesecake has some tangy-ness but it's not thick or rich enough for a cheesecake. No crust notes at 6%. Mild crust at 10%. It's a fairly enjoyable SF to vape at around 10-15%. Can be used as a component to a cheesecake, but needs help with the cheesecake, crust and strawberry aspects- basically everything. Was discussed in the New World Strawberry episode of Noted (I think) where Fresh said he uses it in strawberry cheesecake recipes as a bridge between the cream and the fruit. Could also be used in a strawberry milk or strawberries and cream recipe.

CAP NY Cheesecake:

Versatile flavour. Folkart uses this to add creaminess, texture and a bit of graham to anything. Works in creams or milkshakes etc. Doesn't really use it as the main note in a cheesecake as it's a little light. SFT at 3% but can go a bit higher. Nice creaminess, some graham, no off notes. Has great range. Can use it at 0.5% and it'll change something like a custard or cream for the better. It's used in some recipes at 5-6 % as a full cheesecake, but when used that high it can have a fake butter off note.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 40: CHEESECAKES (ft. Folkart)

FLV Berry Cheesecake:

Interesting but has somewhat limited use. The berries are good. They're petty tart and bordering on floral, which is a weird contrast with the cheesecake. They're kind of like a harvest berry with both a tart and sweet edge but the tartness being more prominent. Blackberry kind of tartness with blueberry kind of sweetness. A mixed berry but definitely contains blackberry and probably blueberry. The cheesecake is thick, creamy and strong. Not a lot of cheesiness. The berries are good, as it's the cheesecake. But the two together is a bit odd, not the jammy, syrupy, sweet berries usually found in a cheesecake. SFT at 1.5% and 2%. At 2% berries are really starting to go floral and kind of medicinal. 1.5% is probably still too high. Could be used lower, maybe 0.5%, as a berry note in a milkshake or something?

FW Cheesecake:

Folkart used this in his corn custard recipe for the popcorn note he gets from it. Freshly mixed it has a tartness that fades with a steep. Tastes like a home baked cheesecake as opposed to store bought. Does have a dirty socks feel if mixed too high. Stay around 2%. May still be a subtle dirty sockness to it, but fades after a steep and can be covered in a mix. Slight cream cheese frosting note and some graham. Needs some help but makes a good base for a cheesecake. Would also work well in a milkshake or cream, like how CAP NY Cheesecake does. If you're looking for more richness in a cheesecake recipe this could help to bolster that. Pretty sweet, great creamy mouthfeel. Hint of vanilla.

LA Cream Cheese Icing:

On this list as it has been used as a cheesecake in the past. Got the cheesy tang and sweetness you want in a cheesecake but, it's more of an icing though. Maybe not a good main note for a cheesecake, but a great additive. Pretty strong and prominent flavour. Keep around 1%, but can go lower. Adds zing, sweetness and great mouthfeel even at 0.25-0.5%. One of Cheeba's favourite ingredients as it is delicious, pretty versatile and improves any creamy recipe.

TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust:

Not really a cheesecake, it's a graham crust. But a lovely rich, buttery and accurate crust. It does have some creaminess but it's 90% crust and 10% cheesecake. Goes great in creams to add a little graham flavour and texture. If Folkart needs to add some graham crust to something this is what he'll use. 4% is probably around the maximum. Folkart and Cheeba use it around 1-2%. A lot of people get coconut from it.

OOO Vanilla Custard Cheesecake:

No custard and not really a cheesecake. Tastes like a cream cheese frosting that's very similar to LA CCI but with some vanilla. Better than LAs as it's smoother, thicker, sweeter and a more authentic cream cheese flavour. Maybe not as versatile as LA? But a better cream cheese frosting. While LA needs 1-2 weeks steep this only needs a couple of days. Should be called vanilla cream cheese frosting.

PUR Cheesecake Graham Crust:

Very similar to TFA CGC. But a bit more balanced in that it has more of the creamy cheesecake than TFA. Quite a bit sweeter. The graham is also drier, and more distinct in that it doesn't mix with the cream as much, which may be better if you're actually using it for a graham crust. May make it less versatile- for those reasons wouldn't work as well as TFA as an additive in creams etc.

PUR NY Cheesecake:

Very similar to CAP NY Cheesecake. Can be used higher, 5-6%+ without getting the buttery off note CAP has. Tastes better as a single flavour and is sweeter than CAP and also a little drier. Not as smooth but has the same fullness, very thick. Clear accurate cheesecake. Maybe not as versatile as CAP but if you're using it to make a cheesecake this is the better option.

INW Yes, We Cheesecake:

Best cheesecake flavour there is? CAP NY Cheesecake is great but lacks a little in being a full cheesecake and the crust is a little bit light. This is the perfect balance of a full cheesecake with a nice graham crust. Buttery, great mouthfeel, creaminess that none of the others have. SFT at 3% but could probably go to 4% or higher. This is probably best used as a cheesecake base rather than the versatility of CAP. Could probably use a little in a milkshake or something, but would be a shame to use it like that as it's such a great cheesecake!

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 43: COCONUT (ft. DeeJayMills)

in alphabetical order. Didn't rank then as all so different.

CAP Coconut:

Not very flavourful. No suntan lotion off note. Bit if a toasted quality. Full bodied. Odd dryness. Almost powdery. Missing the coconut flavour. What's there is fairly accurate to raw coconut. Might be good for adding body to another coconut? But still have the dry, powdery aspect to contend with.

Tested at 2%

5.16

FLV Coconut:

Mills doesn't use it as a coconut flavour, but for the buttery body it can give to a recipe. Uses it a lot with puddings, like FLV Vanilla Pudding. But really low, 2 drops in a 30ml max. Very potent. If used to high it gets a bit nauseating, too rich. Can be used as butter in a mix without impartng too much coconut. The coconut flavour isn't that great, but it's a great ingredient. Like coconut oil. But the fattiness it has is more buttery than oily. Extremely silky smooth. It's one of FLV's note expensive concentrates but it will last as it's so strong.

Cheeba tested at 0.5%, which is too high. 0.25% is the maximum you want to use it at. 0.2% is good to give buttery richness to a pudding etc.

9.40

FLV Chocolate Deutsch:

German chocolate cake. Great to vape as a SF. Very good chocolate note. Coconut note is good, authentic to coconut topping on a German chocolate cake. Although I'd missing a little caramel-y sweetness to be truly authentic. Coconut is pretty present in the flavour. If you wanted to use it just for the chocolate note it is very difficult to not get the coconut along with it. Although possible as ID10-T tried a recipe (hadn't been published yet) that had Chocolate Deutsch as the only and main chocolate and had accomplished this. Although Emily tried the same recipe and could taste the coconut, but she is a bit sensitive. Could maybe get the coconut to come across as just nutty if it was mixed with a nut or some AP?

13.11

FLV Poundcake:

Some people may get a coconut note from FLV Poundcake. Although others don't. Also has an anise note.

15.38

FLV Macaroon:

Cookie with meringue, coconut and sweetened condensed milk (not too be confused with a macaron - which are the colourful, round, flat, almond-y biscuits). Has fair amount of toasted coconut. Fairly strong dark, caramel sweetness in the back. Not unpleasant, but not accurate. Its a pretty good caramel. Could make a Samoa cookie by adding some biscuit, chocolate and a little more dry coconut. The caramel would fit into that profile.

Tested at 1.5% and 3%. 1.5% is full flavoured. At 3% has a strange tingling sensation on the tongue. Use around 1.25% in a mix. DeeJay_Mills used it at 2% in a Chico stick recipe for the toasted coconut note.

16.39

FLV Sweet Coconut:

ID10-T and Mills' desert island coconut, if could only have one this would be the one. Flaky coconut texture. Like coconut flakes and added sweetness. Or Mexican coconut candy- just coconut and corn syrup. Oddly bright and clean. The brightness will start to go floral if used too high. Is not really rich, but not thin either- appropriately rich for a coconut. Unlike FLV Coconut, which totally over does the richness. A great additive to chocolate.

As little as 0.25% in a recipe does make a difference. Use below 1% as an additive. Need to use above 1.5% to get the coconut. Below 1.5% it can get bullied. It will alter a recipe but to get coconut need to use between 1.5%-2%. At 1.5% it will stand up in a mix, doesn't get bullied by other flavours. At 2.5% it starts to get weird.

20.59

FW Creamy Coconut:

Pretty good mouthfeel. Coconut isn't very strong, subtle, softer and more candy. Sweet and very creamy. Sweetened coconut cream. Like Coco Lopez, coconut cream that is often used to make Pina Colada.

Tested at 1.5%. Seems to be s good spot.

25.52

FW Coconut Cream Pie:

Not a lot of pie at 2%. Some crust at 3%. A creamy soft coconut. Not dissimilar from their Creamy Coconut, but a little less sweet. Has some whipped cream. Fairly light flavour at 3% so could do with taking higher. If you're looking for a coconut cream pie could build a better one yourself.

Tested at 2% and 3%. Could probably use at 4-5%

27.17

FA Coconut:

Very natural. Has some sweetness but not as sweet as FLV Sweet Coconut. A little bit creamy. Versatile. Not very thick. Has some body so not thin. Not as thick and rich as some others. Reminiscent of dried, slightly sweetened coconut flakes if anything. Not a coconut cream as not silky or rich enough

Tested at 2%

20.51

INW Coconut:

Reformulated recently. The old version, tested at 1.5%- got a woody top note. Like the husk. Straightforward, natural coconut. A bit creamy. The husk mostly steeps out. What remains can be covered with other strong top notes.

The new version (probably- Cheeba bought a bottle recently but it could have been from an old batch), tested at 2%- a fair amount of that husk note. 2% may be a little high. The husk is quite interesting. Would work really well in a coconut tobacco.

32.28

INW Coconut Cookies yc:

(Apparently been discontinued?)

No cookie at 3%, but does have the type of coconut you'd want in a cookie. Lightly toasted coconut. Toasty note in the background, but not a cookie. Lacks the texture, would have to be more thick and chewy whilst being a bit gritty. Is not any of that. Reminiscent of macaroon, which aren't made with any flour. So would just need some meringue to be pretty accurate. Slight vanilla. Has a bit of an oily quality. Which may work in a cookie. It didn't have any bakery to it, but would work as a coconut accent for all sorts of bakeries

Tested at 3%

36.57

ID10-T gets annoyed with vanilla in pina colada recipes. There's some that use Vanilla Swirl. Doesn't work! It should be just rum, coco lopez and pineapple juice.

INW Pina Colada:

Has slight vanilla off note. ID10-T gets annoyed with vanilla in pina colada recipes. There's some that use Vanilla Swirl. Doesn't work! It should be just rum, coco lopez and pineapple juice. Pretty good pineapple and coconut flavour. But has no rum. The pineapple sits on top. Tastes like INW Pineapple, which is good. Natural pineapple juice. Pineapple and coconut are pretty evenly balanced. The coconut base has some vanilla in it and had soft and fluffy texture. Not a beverage. Coconut marshmallow dipped in pineapple juice. Not unpleasant though. ID10-T is going to make a Pina Colada sucker recipe. (Tried using FW Hard Candy and it ruined it).

Tested at 1.5%

40.03

HS Coconut:

Has woody note, like INW. But it's really mild. Might steep out or not be present at lower %. Could probably be covered. Surprisingly thin coconut, considering how thick some of their other flavours are. Sweet coconut that tastes halfway between coconut milk and sweetened coconut water. No other off notes besides slight woody note. Not unflavoured at 1%. May full it more and not be as thin at higher %. But could also make wood stronger.

Tested at 1%

43.23

LB Coconut Milk:

Has some harshness at every % tested. Even Emily who didn't usually experience harshness fit some at 3%. Coconut flavour isn't bad. Is a little artificial. Slightly suntan lotion-y. Could probably add a more natural coconut to pull it on that direction. ID10-T and Cheeba got a weird dark, warm spice note somewhere between cinnamon and nutmeg at 4% and 7%. Emily got a bit of sourness which may become spice as % increased? Great mouthfeel. Intensely thick and creamy. Could be a good start to a Coquito- Peurto Rican coconut milk with rum. Kind of like egg nog. Usually drunk at Christmas time. Or could be a coconut milk horchata? Would have to take into account that spice note in whatever it's used in.

Tested at 3%, 4% and 7%. LB recommend 7% but that's too high.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 43: COCONUT (ft. DeeJayMills)

LA Coconut:

Artificial, sweet. Generic artificial coconut. A bit of a suntan lotion off note. Pretty good, thick body. Not very silky. Not oily or fatty. Borders dry and creamy. Versatile. useable in a mix.

Tested at 2% and 3%. 3% seems about right for a mix. 2% a bit light in flavour. Might be able to take to 4%?

48.44

PUR Fresh Coconut:

Nobody had tried it but Fear said it's really authentic and really tasty.

51.22

PUR Toasted Coconut Cheesecake:

Not a cheesecake. Slightly toasted coconut plus 2% milk. Tested a lot like the coconut in FA Coconut. With a little of the artificial-ness and sweetness of TFA Coconut Candy. But not really the richness. With FA Fresh Cream kind of dairy note. With a hint of toastiness. But no crust or anything cheesy. Works really well for adding a light coconut to a bakery.

Tested at 4%

51.54

Recipe:

Snowball Effect by RinVapes. Showcases his good PUR Toasted Coconut Cheesecake is at adding light coconut note to a bakery.

PUR Toasted Coconut Mango Sherbet:

Mango jam on coconut toast. Very artificial coconut with suntan lotion off note. The toastiness tastes more like toasted stale bread as is separate from the coconut and the toastiness is kind of cardboardy and dry. But not really bready, just the toasted part. The mango is understated and not very authentic. Like peach and banana with strange dirty of jamminess and slight hint of citrus. All this elements a a bit separate. Doesn't come together as a mango. Nothing that suggest sherbet or sorbet. The fake coconut really lingers unpleasantly on the palate.

Tested at 4%

53.13

SC Coconut:

Sweet, artificial coconut. At 1% and 2% a little bit of a suntan lotion off note also cardboard, stale off note. A bit toasted.

Tested at 1% and 2%.

56.17

SC Grape, SC Blackberry and SC Mango (before it fades) are really great. But most of their flavours are misses.

TFA Coconut and TFA Coconut Extra:

Can't tell the difference between 1% Coconut and 0.2% Coconut Extra. Start to taste a little different at higher %s. But might but want to take them up that high? Coconut Extra is about 4-5 times as strong as Coconut. Don't want to push them any higher. Artificial coconut syrup. Like that used in coconut snow cones. Very suntan lotion-y. But if it's used really low is really good for giving body to more realistic but thinner coconuts, like FA Coconut, and pushing them forward in a mix. Really aggressively suntan lotion-y if used too high and can overpower a mix. Really great smooth, thick mouthfeel that can make a really wonderful cream enhancer. FLV Coconut does a similar thing, but better.

TFA Coconut Extra- ID10-T suggests use up to 0.25% max. Cheeba tried Coconut Extra at 1.5%, which is too high but want disgusted by it. Could maybe go above 0.25%?

59.12

TFA Coconut Candy:

Artificial without being suntan lotion. The good kind of artificial. Like the white, gloopy stuff in a Mounds bar. Also tastes a bit like the coconut flavouring in Malibu coconut rum. A bit generic. Similar to the artificial coconut flavour in a lot of things. No toastiness. Weird plastic note when used over 2%. But it's a pretty potent flavour. Decent thickness

Use below 2%. Plastic note above that. Pretty potent flavour.

1.03.18

TFA Coconut DX:

Very thick. No butiric note. Although the thickness is likely coming from butiric acid. Coconut is artificial. Cheeba prefers the DX version over the original because of that thickness. There a little dryness in the original which isn't in the DX version.

Tested at 2%. 1--1.5% is probably where you want to use it in a mix. But 2% is key good for a SF.

1.05.16

TFA Coconut Candy DX:

Thinner. Coconut seems to be mostly in the top note. Doesn't taste like Mounds bar goop like the original. Just tested like a sweet, thin coconut. Cheeba prefers the original to the DX. No suntan lotion off note.

Tested at 2%

1.08.03

TFA Chocolate Coconut Almond Candy Bar:

Chocolate is pretty grainy and not very good. Surprisingly light on coconut not a lot of almond. What there is tastes like TFA Toasted Almond. A bit of gasoline and cardboard off notes, but subtle. Better to build an Almond Joy yourself from scratch. Coconut Candy would be a good fit.

Tested at 2%

1.09.36

WF Nanaimo bar SC:

A Nanaimo bar - bottom layer is chocolate and coconut, then layer of custard then chocolate fudge/ brownie on top. WF is pretty accurate. Pretty decent. Although ID10-T didn't enjoy the coconut that much as it was too artificial.

1.13.41

VT Coconut:

Originally tested at 2%- too high. Steeped 5-6 days. Had some off notes. Same woody top note as INW and a hint of lemony citrus with some cardboard. Underneath that the coconut was average. Slightly suntan lotion-y.

At 1% with a longer steep it's much better. No citrus. Woody notes are now accurate to the nuttiness of a coconut. Underneath that tastes like real, fresh coconut flesh. May be one of those flavours that is too authentic for some people. No oiliness. Not creamy enough to be coconut cream or milk. But also not dry enough to be coconut flakes. If you wanted to make a coconut and citrus recipe this could be a good choice as it could bind to it really well as it has a citrus note in it already. Even though it isn't detectable at 1% it may help it for with citrus flavours down this low.

Use around 1%. 2% has a lot of off notes. May be able to use a little higher than 1%, but definitely needs to be below 2%. Also may need a bit of a steep.

1.15.15

WF Coconut Custard SC:

Not a custard. Not rich or eggy enough. Creamy, does have some richness. Really sweet and the is a fruity type sweetness- maybe pineapple? So could be a good start to a Pina Colada. The coconut is soft and mellow. Coconut is really light at 2%. ID10-T really wants to use in a strawberry and cream.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 44: COOKIE DOUGH AND CAKE BATTER (ft. Kopel)

(Air date: 10th April 2018)

Ranked from worst to first.

Cookie Dough:

FLV Sweet Dough:

Not part of the rankings. Not supposed to be a cookie dough, and isn't one.

More of a bakery additive. Maybe could be used in a doughnut or to give uncooked dough to the centre of a pastry? Kind of cakey, but also kind of not. Some people get a maple note, others don't. Kopel gets an awkward, plastic sweetness, which he gets from all their dough flavours. Not bad, but has to steep out. It's mostly dough like that from the centre of a cinnamon roll. That doughy part that hasn't cooked all the way through.

Tested at 1%. Use around 0.25% - 0.5%. Gets a plastic off note at higher %s.

7.04

RF Cookie Dough:

(ID10-T only tested the VG version- might make a difference?) Graham cracker that has been made fifty by being dipped in watered down Yoohoo. Got a chocolate note- but a soft, wet, watered down milk chocolate. The chocolate flavour runs all the way through, so more like a chocolate cookie as opposed to a chocolate chip cookie. Not doughy. Like it's been cooked and soaked. Pretty harsh. Kopel tested the normal version. Like they took the chocolate from their Cookies and Cream and made it thinner and more watered down. Pretty thin overall.

Tested at 12% (normal for VG flavours) and steeped for almost 2 weeks.

11.25

NF Organic Cookie Dough:

The flavours NF used are organic, as opposed to it tasting like organic cookie dough. The chocolate is quite bitter sweet. At 2% the chocolate starts to taste like lavender. 1% is syrupy. Lacks that thick, doughy taste.

Tested at 1% and 2%.

14.45

NF worth getting - NF Malt and NF Ginger.

FLV Cookie Dough:

Really good, pretty accurate. Sugar cookie dough, no chocolate. A bit harsh as a SF to some but can be covered in a mix. Grainy texture.

Tested at 1% and 2%. 2% is too high. ID10-T got heavy maple and greasiness. Cheeba didn't, but still thought it was a bit to high. 1% seems like a good spot

18.05

Recipes:

Cookie Dough Ice Cream by MINikon - Uses FLV Cookie Dough with WF Chocolate Chunks at 1%. Can go higher but she only wanted a little chocolate. Used TFA VBIC and HS French Vanilla Ice Cream combo

21.22

Cookie Crack by pgll55 - Uses FLV Cookie Dough, FW Butter Pecan and Hazelnut, CAP Sugar Cookie and Vanilla Custard.

24.39

OOO Cookie Dough:

ID10-T's number one. Emily would have put it as second as the cookie dough is too dark and the chocolate is a bit too powdery and dry. More like cocoa. Tastes authentic to ID10-T. Had a sweet, brown sugary flavour. Not thin, chewy and thick. The chocolate was bittersweet and kind of dark, like chocolate chips are. Even has that greasy sort of taste raw cookie dough has. Sticks to your palate, like cookie dough. Kopel thought it was more authentic than FLV. The greasy note that people could find off putting is part of what makes it so good and authentic. May have gamma octalactone (coconut molecule present in TFA CCGC). Before FLV released theirs, any commercial cookie dough flavoured liquids were very likely using OOO.

All tested it at 3%.

26.48

Someone needs to make a recipe that layers the OOO and FLV Cookie Dough.

WF Sesame Dough:

Very sesame forward. But going to discuss in a sesame and soy episode.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 44: COOKIE DOUGH AND CAKE BATTER (ft. Kopel)

Cake Batter:

NF Organic Cake Batter:

Cake Batter made from expired milk and glue. Heavy butiric note. Really gloopy. Texturally reminiscent of toothpaste or half set jello. Sticks to the palate. At 3% has an Elmers PVA glue note.

Tested at 3% and 1.5%

35.43

Flavor Phoenix Cake Batter:

Doesn't taste like cake batter. Like eating a caramel cupcake while in a tyre shop. Not a burnt rubber like FA Pineapple. More of a new tyre smell. Slightly undercooked cupcake with caramel frosting note right on top.

37.57

*Flavor Phoenix Milk tasted like an entire farm, sewage leak and everything. *

OOO Cake Batter:

Vanilla hand soap on an Animal Cracker. Both ID10-T and Kopel got the soapy note. A lot of vanilla. Kopel got soap from almost all their bakeries. Maybe he's sensitive to that soap note like ID10-T?

41.23

*OOO flavours Kopel like from the big pack he was sent by them - Cream Milky Undertones, Cookies and Cream, Cookie Dough and one of the Sour Belt ones.

Emily thought Vanilla Custard Cheesecake, Sugar Cone and Vanilla Marshmallow are pretty good too. *

RF Cake Batter SC:

Emily thought the flavour was good, sweet, tastes like cake batter. But it's thin and light in flavour like most RF. No mouthfeel. As a SNV it doesn't taste like anything. Has to steep for around a week. But even then it is still light on flavour. ID10-T got light starchiness with some vanilla and a dark sweetness- maybe maple. But not a lot of flavour. No body or texture, especially for cake batter.

Tested at 2%

43.46

LA Cake Batter:

Kopel thinks it's an overlooked flavour. But it doesn't have much in the way of top note. It's all base notes. Doesn't have a lot of nuance, but it's a really great building block. It's a little dry. ID10-T thought it was a cake batter that didn't have enough of the wet ingredients- is kind of flour-y, powdery and dry. A lot of LA bakeries are like that, with LA CCI being the exception.

Tested at 3%

47.12

*Have to check the list to see which LA flavourings are safe to vape before you buy their flavours.

LA flavours worth getting, Watermelon, Lemonade, Cream Cheese Icing. Also have a lot of lesser known ones, Cheesecake (better than CAP?)*

FLV Cupcake Batter:

ID10-T thought it tasted like a maple vanilla cake pop. It's pretty tasty, but it's not cupcake batter. Definite maple note, but like imitation maple syrup. Not a particularly good maple. Could mean into the maple and add another maple? Or pair it with FLV Maple Bar? Has a plastic note, the strength of which may vary depending on how sensitive you are to it.

Tested at 3%. Has been used in recipes successfully around 2.5%

49.15

Recipes:

Cabane a Sucre by ModestoBravo - uses FLV Cake Batter at 0.75%. Maple syrup, hazelnut and cake batter recipe. (Creator owns a commercial juice company)

52.14

Blueberry Cake Bites by Tootall - all FLV mix. Used Cupcake Batter at 2% and Blueberry Muffin at 5%, which is pretty high, amongst other things. Emily thought that blueberry had a little sharpness to it, like it was on the verge of turning. The bakery base is really good. The maple in the Cupcake Batter blends really well with the blueberry so didn't stand out at all.

56.09

DEL Cake Batter:

Texture is a little bit watery, needs more thickness. But really authentic flavour to a cake batter. Watery issue could easily be fixed with something like a biscuit and/or some custard. But the top notes are a really delicious, authentic cake batter. If you wanted to do a cake batter ice cream, where the whole thing is infused with cake batter this would be perfect. Maybe more a yellow cake batter, while still being a vanilla cake batter. A little brighter than the others on this list.

Tested at 3% and 5%. Around 3% is good for a mix.

57.38

*Yellow Cake is the same thing as white cake, but with more egg yolk. *

FW Cake Batter Dip:

Kopel loves this flavour. Faint fruitiness, which is the sprinkles. Decent amount of texture, but not so much that it makes it cake. You can bend it into a cookie or a pancake. Pretty sure Pancake Man uses it. Definite sprinkles, a little bit of icing - both really authentic. It does contain fructose, so will destroy coils. Could easily turn into a circus cookie because of how well it nails the icing and sprinkles- just needs a little CAP Sugar Cookie and a bit of any strawberry. TFA Strawberry fits the profile the most and would fit the frosting better use around 4%. Or if you get plastic from TFA Strawberry maybe INW Shisha Strawberry at around 2% would be the second choice (although there's newer strawberries released since this episode aired which obviously weren't considered). ID10-T tested it at 3% and 7%. At 3% after 3-4 ml his cotton was already getting crunchy. But so good can vape as a SF.

Can use up to 9% as Kopel did in his Circus Cookies recipe. But can take way higher than that. Although will destroy your coils quick!

1.01.22

Recipes:

Circus Cookies by Kopel - uses Cake Batter Dip 9%, LA Cream Cheese Icing 1.25%, TFA Strawberry 6%. It's a bit of a treat recipe as it will wreck your coils!

1.04.24

So Vanilla by Steam room - uses Cake Batter Dip at 4% with 0.75% WF Fluffy White Cake for a really nice, moist, vanilla cake layer. Sweet, bakery, vanilla mix.

1.08.31

*VT Shisha Strawberry is pretty good. Kopel especially likes Shisha Peach and Shisha Mango.

Shisha Mango has a bit of a peel note that is too much for some people, but just adds to the authenticity for others. Could probably be covered in a mix fairly easily. With 0.25%-0.5% if FLV Mango or Guanabana, Cherimoya or Soursop. They are close enough to the mango profile but wouldn't take away from the Shisha Mango. Would also help the body, especially Guanabana which would give it a soft, banana sort of texture. Does a ripe mango really well without going overboard like CAP does. *

CAP Cake Batter:

Similarly to CAP Vanilla Custard this flavour is over used, it's used wrong. If it's used incorrectly it over takes a mix and get oily vanilla, like in there custard. ID10-T originally tested at 4% which is far too high. Gross! Very oily like old fryer grease. Also burnt plastic. Odd spice note that's in between black pepper and a nutmeg fart! At 1% tastes very accurate to Betty Crocker vanilla cake batter. Full flavoured. Thick, gooey, a little oily- like eating cake batter. Raw, sugary, custardy. Coats the mouth. Strong vanilla note. The same that is in CAP Vanilla Custard. Kopel uses it like people use Vanilla Custard. More versatile than VC. Can use it for that oily vanilla flavour. Heavy custardy style flavour that isn't actually custard. Could use to back up a cookie dough, like OOO or even RF. To give it gooey, dough base.

Use up to around 1.5%. Gets really gross up higher. Really in your face at 1.5%. Would probably have to be the primary note in a mix that high.

1.11.05

Recipes:

Pickle Juice by Kopel - not a pickle juice recipe! Chose to use FW VBIC specifically as it's less heavy than CAP, has better vanilla note, cleaner and counteracts the heaviness of CAP Cake Batter a little better. Can use CAP, HS or TFA but probably won't be as effective.

It's FW Blueberry 4%, CAP Harvest Berry 1.5%, CAP Cake Batter 1.5% and FW VBIC 4%.

Not a very complex recipe. Doesn't think bakeries need to be complex if using the right flavours. The Cake Batter doesn't really come across as cake batter but rather a thick, gooey bakery.

1.16.40

French Vanilla Cheesecake Cupcakes by Fleming - Emily really liked it. There's a lot of ingredients and a few are at pretty high %s. But it's really tasty. Needs to steep for about a week.

1.20.04

Butterscotch Crumpets by SheckJuarez - Cheeba would switch the %s of FLV Butterscotch, which is at 2.5% and FW Butterscotch, which is at 1%. FLV BS gets a bit astringent that high.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 49: CINNAMON PASTRIES (ft. Mr Burgundy)

Cinnamon Rolls:

FW Cinnamon Roll:

It of all the cinnamon roll flavours tried this week it comes the closest in accuracy. Not all the way there though. A bit better balanced than CAP CDS as the cinnamon is a bit more subdued. Nice bakery cinnamon. Doesn't come across as sour. Not a lot of glaze, just a little sticky sweetness. Could fix with something like LA Cream Cheese Icing.

Tested at 4% and 5%. 5% is a pretty good spot for a solo flavour. Maybe use a little lower in a mix.

28.34

LB Baked Cinnamon Roll:

Not a cinnamon roll. ID10-T got toasted cinnamon Raisin Bread. Really bready with a raisin type sweetness. But overall not very sweet. Emily got pukey and chemically off notes. Mr B found it too yeasty, like FA Joy. Cheeba got a bit of butiric. Really dry.

Tested at 3%

31.20

FW Caramel Cinnamon Roll:

Really yummy. Has a lot going on. Good as a SF. Tastes like their cinnamon roll plus some caramel. Nice rich, gooey caramel. Really sweet. Really good balance between the cinnamon and caramel. Not as much cinnamon as the cinnamon roll, caramel maybe subdues it a bit. May be a bit tricky to mix with as it's pretty busy? Could build around it and just bolster what's already there with some Sugar Cookie, cake flavour, rich cinnamon. Or add some banana, rich goes well with cinnamon and caramel. Or nuts would go well, hazelnuts, pecan.

Tested at 5%

33.47

FLV Cinnamon Roll:

Cinnamon Roll flavoured hard candy. Thin, creamy and underwhelming cinnamon. Odd considering they make Rich Cinnamon. Emily found cinnamon tangy, metallic, thinner. Although ID10-T didn't have an issue with the accuracy of the cinnamon for a cinnamon roll. The roll is underwhelming too. Had the bakery taste, but no texture. Lacks thickness and bready-ness. (A lot of FLV bakeries are a little thinner). Not un-useable. Cheeba suggested using with some Rich Cinnamon to make cinnamon icing as it has some creaminess. Although has no thickness. Just smooth.

36.24

RF Cinnamon Roll SC:

Like most RF SC bakeries, lacks body. No pastry. Just a dull, vague sweetness. Really thin and dry. Cinnamon Roll flavoured cotton candy. Has spun sugar kind of sweetness like cotton crush and not much else, besides some bready flavour and some really light, dry, powdery cinnamon.

Tested up to 5%.

39.43

FW Reindeer Poop:

Supposed to be a chocolate cinnamon roll. A lot going on. Not quite as dry as FW Cinnamon Roll, but a bit similar. The chocolate comes off chalky and powdery. Not a lot of pastry, but there is some texture. Cinnamon is very mild. Overall very sweet and all melds together into an unpleasant mix off flavours. Concentrate is really dark in colour, almost black. There's a lot going on as with it being a chocolate cinnamon roll its very specific. So would be very limited as to where it could be used in a mix. Not very pleasant as a SF. Better to build your own from scratch. Although Mr B, who tested it, isn't a fan of most chocolates. Someone else might enjoy it?

Tested at 5%.

41.13

WF Cinnamon Pastry:

(ID10-T's and Emily favourite of all the flavours this week). Really good. Great balance. Really nice, sweet, bakery cinnamon. Mr B thought it was reminiscent of Sadlad Toast Crunch, but without the milk and creams. Has a good snappy, dry texture. ID10-T thought it tasted like a Little Debbie's Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut. Cheeba really likes how accurately it represents the bakery note, doughy, a little bit yeasty, but not too much. Lovely cinnamon. Has some delicate flakiness.

44.09

If you want to make a churro a good route is too use WF Cinnamon Pastry, see recipe below*.

Recipe:

Raspberry Churro by MINikon. Mixed WF Cinnamon Pastry with FLV Cinnamon Crunch for the Churro base. FLV Cinnamon Crunch has the more crunchy texture of the outside of the churro plus a really good bakery cinnamon. WF Cinnamon Pastry does the chewy inside of a churro really well. Can add whatever topping or filling you want.

45.38

DEL Cinnamon Bun:

Above delightfully mediocre! Cinnamon note is pretty mellow, a bit on the dry side. But it's sweet and fairly authentic. Good bakery note. Comes through pretty prominently, really nice. Not bready or dry. Quite doughy, but not like raw dough. Let baked. A lot of DEL are thin and linear. This one has a lot more nuance. Get some bakery cinnamon, some sweet icing and good bakery note. Really well rounded flavour.

Tested at 3%. Good starting %. Not going to be a bully in a mix.

47.06

Miscellaneous:

CAP Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble:

A weird mess! None of the components are what you'd expect them to be for a blueberry cinnamon crumble. Blueberry is really candied and bright. Cinnamon just like Red Hots. No crumble or pastry. Maybe an impression of texture or really, really light cookie type thing?

Tested at 2.5%, 5% and 6%

48.36

Recipe:

Blueberry Cinnamon Pastry Version 2.0 by EdibleMalfunction. Has really nice, natural blueberry, with some cinnamon pastry underneath.

50.48

RF Cinnamon Doughnut SC:

The exact same flavour as RF Cinnamon Roll SC. Thin, vague sweetness, light spice note. No texture, no bakery.

Tested up to 5%

52.57

RF Cinnamon Custard SC:

Really, really dark coloured concentrate. Same sweetness most RF bakeries have. Not short soft, but there is a bit more cinnamon than is in their Cinnamon Roll or Cinnamon Doughnut. But still subtle. Custard is thin, but does have more body than any other RF Mr B had tried. Has a little mouthfeel. A little eggy, but mostly cream.

Tested up to 5%. Could probably take it up to 6-7%. But it's an SC, so shouldn't have to be taking it up so high.

53.32

  Recipes:

One Hit Wonder Muffin Man one shot - pretty tasty, really full flavoured. Not very accurate for a muffin. But might actually be tastier than vaping a really accurate muffin? Really strong, bright apple flavour. The muffin is more of a cinnamon roll. But it's got a nice balance to it. Got some sweetener, but not stupidly sweet

56.15

Muffin Man Clone by Icrzykev - over 40 recipes made by people trying to clone Muffin Man. Might be one of the closest? Uses 3% FA Fuji and 6% FW Cinnamon Roll with 1% EM. The FA and FW are probably the main flavours in it. Probably doesn't have the EM? Using some other kind of sweetener. There's also probably some vanilla of some description as the original has a vanilla note.

FLV Eggnog:

Can use it for the spice note. Can use as a nutmeg. Might have some cinnamon in it, but not cinnamon forward

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 50: VANILLA (ft. Concrete River)

*Categorised into which are used most often in ATF. From most used to least . *

TFA Vanilla Swirl:

Diketone free. Amazing how smooth, thick and heavy it is without tasting butiric. Not a complex vanilla note. Pretty much a straight up Vanillin vanilla note. But it's a good way to bring volume and body into a recipe without radically altering the profile. Has an astonishing amount of body. Very smooth. Useful if you want a palate coating smoothness- does that very well. But does contain EM and water and will mute things. Can be a negative, but can also use it to force mute things. When people first get into DIY a lot of mixes can be too sharp or too thin. Lacks the body and presence of commercial liquid. Vanilla Swirl goes a long way to adding that volume and almost softer flavour. You can start cranking other flavours up then use Vanilla Swirl to balance it out and tame it back down, whilst still getting that thickness from it.

Play around with it- If you take one of your finished mixes, especially something fruity or something you wouldn't necessarily think it would fit and add it in there at around 2%. Give it a couple of weeks and see what it does

Can use anywhere from 0.5% up to 2-3%. Can even go higher, 4-5%, but have to be mindful of muting. But has no off notes.

(5.36)

INW Shisha Vanilla:

One of Cheeba's favourite vanillas. Rich, little bit of spice, very creamy. Got some depth and body. A little bit sweet, darker sweetness. Good general vanilla to use. Versatile. Can use in tobaccos, creams etc. Similar to the vanilla in Vanilla Swirl. Has almost a frosting style waxiness and heaviness to it which can be a useable tool. Waxy above 1%. But full flavoured with plenty of creaminess and smoothness at 1%. Surprisingly present even at 1%, isn't steam rollered even by bold tobaccos at 1%, still get a hint of vanilla. Concrete uses it not so much for the vanilla note, but for body as it does it so well.

Cheeba SFT at 3% to see what would happen, even though 1% is usually his ceiling. Vanilla definitely comes through a bit more, very thick, unxious, vanilla a little spicy, definitely a darker vanilla.

Recipe: Cheeba's Sweet Strawberry Cream

(11.55)

WF Vanilla Cream Extra:

Very similar to Shisha Vanilla, but with a bit of maltiness. The vanilla is a bit softer than INW. It doesn't stand out as much in a mix. But also isn't as much of a bully in more delicate recipes.

Full flavoured, saturated at 2%. 2% of WF is about equivalent to 1% of Shisha Vanilla.

(16.28)

DIYFS Holy Vanilla:

Dark, almost spicy vanilla. Some creaminess. Not that thick, but rich. Generally doesn't work with fruits. Rumoured to have LA CCI in it- Concrete River gets cereal marshmallows with a slight sourness from Holy Vanilla, although most people don't! Sourness might come from CCI?

(19.31)

CAP French Vanilla:

Tastes a lot like their Vanilla Custard, without the egg note. Same vanilla, without the greasy note of pre-steeped VC. Stands out in a mix- can tell it's on there. Like French Vanilla coffee creamer. Deep, full bodied. Underlying darker sweetness or maltiness. Can be used in a milkshake Artificial vanilla, but also has a lot of depth. Not going to be able to take it in a natural vanilla direction. Not subtle, so unsuitable for adding a little vanilla to a mix, vanilla probably has to be a main note. Works well in tobaccos or if you wanted to make your own RY4.

According to Concrete V2 is even nicer, after a steep than V1. Not butiric before steeping, just not nearly as good.

Can use from 0.5%. Concrete uses it like others use CAP VC- at around 5-6% as a base with other big, aggressive flavours- like bold tobaccos.

Recipe- Burleyscotch V2 by Fear

(22.26)

FA Madagascar (Vanilla Classic):

Like the vanilla from home made vanilla ice cream. A weaker vanilla extract. Good, but not that interesting. Not too dark, Not too light. Sweet-ish. Thin without being dry. An accent vanilla, not a main vanilla note.

(28.36)

FA Vanilla Bourbon:

Not an alcohol type bourbon! Bourbon as it relates to vanilla refers to an island in the Indian ocean, where the vanilla originates from. Not a generic Vanillin. A bit darker, spicier. Not a lot of body, quite thin. Which isn't a negative as it won't mess with the body of a recipe- can get body elsewhere. Works really well in cola recipes where you need some spiciness. Almost a vanilla bean, but not quite. Has an earthy tone. Accent vanilla, not a main note.

(29.54)

TFA French Vanilla:

Not bad- but meh. There's better vanillas for whatever you might want to use it for. Bright vanilla, very artificial- but not in a good way like CAP. More candied, creamy vanilla. Underlying caramel sweetness. Fluffy, marshmallow-like body. Even tastes marshmallow-y. Vanilla coffee creamer flavoured marshmallows. Works in candy recipes- but bare in mind it is also creamy.

Use up to 2%. Pretty potent.

(33.57)

Vanillin:

Doesn't have any creaminess or thickness a lot of others do which can be very useful. Very bright, commercial, almost frosting-like, cheap vanilla feel. Its good for if you want to intensify other vanillas without messing with the body or anything in the rest of the mix- just adds more vanilla.

(36.08)

DEL Sweet Vanillin:

Light, generic, along the lines of a frosting sort of vanilla.

(37.03)

TFA French Vanilla Cream:

Not bad- but meh. Rich, French Vanilla type vanilla. Fairly thick, fluffy, marshmallow-y. Like unsweetened cake frosting. But lacks the richness of CAP French Vanilla. Smooth and mouth coating, like feeling after having eaten heavy cream. Slight malty darkness. Hint of sourness, although not rancid. More of a dairy tang, not offensive.

(38.30)

FA Vanilla Tahity:

Almond note. Has a fruity, cherry-ish note at higher %. Sweet, almond, cherry vanilla. Reminiscent of Ameretto at 3% or marzipan. Nice flavour. Can be used as a less obnoxious marzipan in mixes. Not very thick or creamy. Might work in a beverage, cocktail mix?

Use under 1% as an accent. Gets cherry-ish if used too high.

(40.06)

FLV Vanilla Bean:

Very light on flavour- very subtle. Weaker flavour. Darker, authentic natural vanilla, a little spicy. No body. Can use in the same way as Vanillin, to intensify another vanilla in a mix. But a darker, less artificial version. Doesn't work as the single vanilla in a mix. If used on top of a French Vanilla it darkens the brighter, more artificial notes and adds more nuance. A good tool as opposed to a vanilla flavouring. Good with tobaccos for a drier vanilla. Or in a cola or root beer.

(43.12)

WF Tahitian Vanilla Cream:

Lighter (not dark) vanilla, sweet, frosting vanilla. Good mouthfeel. Very flavourful. Slight fruitiness? Quite complex. Body quite thin. Has some texture to it. Would be really good mixed with a frosting flavour to make a vanilla frosting. Also would work well with fruit.

Tested at 3% and 4%.

(45.59)

Tahitian Vanilla is supposed to be a lighter vanilla with fruity nuances.

TFA French Vanilla Deluxe:

Really great flavour. Dark, almost spicy vanilla with heavy cream, very buttery, a bit of caramel. No eggy note that would define it as a custard. But as thick and rich as a custard or TFA VBIC. Very silky smooth. Could be used in the same way custards are used- use a bit lower than 2% as a custard layer- in a tart etc. Great silky smoothness.

2% is full flavoured. Probably don't need to go any higher.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 50: VANILLA (ft. Concrete River)

FLV Smooth Vanilla:

Light, fruity vanilla. Tahitian style vanilla. Spicy and light at the same time. Expensive concentrate. Extremely potent. Would probably bed to make a dilution. 0.25% is pretty intense for sub ohm. 0.5% works in pods. Almond/ cherry notes when taken up too high. Heavy, but not buttery body. Works well in creams.

Use below 0.2% in sub ohm. 0.5% in pod systems.

(54.25)

TFA Vanilla Bourbon (discontinued):

Tasted like vanilla extract- which was one of the primary ingredients.

(59.00)

TFA Madagascar Vanilla Bourbon:

The replacement for TFA Vanilla Bourbon. Mostly just Vanillin. Even more meh than their French Vanilla. Not much body. Wasnt overpowering at 4%- weaker flavour? 2% was dry, slightly floral, a little dark vanilla marshmallow. Could use to layer with another vanilla or to accentuate vanilla in a cream base as it lacks the body to be the only vanilla.

Tested at 1% and 4%.

(59.29)

CAP Simply Vanilla:

Bright, to the point of being loud. A lot of very artificial vanilla right up front. Very sweet. The base is thin and bland but also smooth. Vanilla candy type vanilla. Works well with mints.

Tested at 2%- which is probably around its ceiling before it goes floral.

(1.00.50)

VT Vanilla Cream:

Similar to INW Shisha Vanilla and WF Vanilla Cream Extra or to TFA Vanilla Swirl, without being as smooth and a little more buttery. Has some richness those flavours don't have. Deep, rich vanilla. Really good body and volume. A little dryness, but not enough to be a problem. Useful flavour. Concrete tested it at 8% and it was reminiscent of CC Devon Cream, but without quite as much body. Forgiving- no off notes even at 8%. No floral or cherry off notes. The owner of VT uses it around 5-6% with no issues.

Tested at 3%, 4% and 8%. No off notes at 8%. Plenty of flavour at 4%

(1.03.28)

VT Vanilla Buttercream Frosting:

Really good. Even maybe slightly better than WF Buttercream Frosting? A lot of frostings have a stale, cardboard, empty type of flavour. This is the last offensive of all of them. Has a top, middle and bottom. The middle is still a little empty tasting. It's very rich, full, buttery. Same vanilla that is in VT Vanilla Cream. A very complex, full flavour.

(1.06.43)

HS Vanilla:

Reminiscent of INW Shisha Vanilla, but inferior in every possible way. It has all the same qualities but the vanilla doesn't taste as good or like it would stand out in a mix like Shisha Vanilla. It's sweet, but not as sweet. It's smooth and creamy, but not as smooth and creamy. Would be an alright substitute for Shisha Vanilla, but WF Vanilla Cream Extra would be a better one. Although ID10-T could have been sick of testing vanillas by this point- can affect how you taste things.

Tested at 1%.

(1.08.54)

INW Bourbon Vanilla:

Concrete thought it was like Shisha Vanilla, but worse. ID10-T thought it was a vanilla marshmallow flavour. Very sweet. Oddly natural sweetness for being paired with a more artificial vanilla. A very bright vanilla.

(1.10.27) and (1.13.48)

INW Vanilla Concentrate:

Dark vanilla, but not spicy. A little creamy. Not a lot of body, but smooth. Malty sweetness with a slightly bitter edge. Not in a gross way, in the way molasses has a bitter edge. Would work well in a milkshake. Almost has a roasted note.

Tested at 1% and 1.5%. Use around 0.5% - 0.75% in a mix. As is fairly strong and quite noticeable in a mix. Not a bully, but prominent.

(1.11.22)

INW Vanilla Classic:

Bright, artificial vanilla with hint of a jammy fruitiness, cherry like jam. So would almost need to be paired with fruits. Whipped cream texture.

(1.15.01)

JF Vanilla:

Oddly dark and fruity at the same time. Cherry-ish fruitiness. A bit floral, which is usually associated with bright, artificial vanillas. So a bit odd to find a floral, darker vanilla. Not creamy, watery and thin. But not dry, almost juicy. Because of the Juicy quality could be used in beverages that uses vanilla and some sort of red fruit, or Ameretto?

Tested at 1%.

(1.16.55)

One Drop Vanilla:

Like Carnation instant breakfast vanilla, or a protein powder vanilla. With a hint of maple and some bread.  Even at 5% it was light on flavour. At 8% vanilla bread with a drizzle of maple.

Tested at 5% and 8%.

(1.19.57)

DEL French Vanilla:

Delightfully mediocre French vanilla. No thick body, slightly sweet.

Tested at 5%.

(1.23.05)

Nude Nic Patchouli Vanilla:

Really good vanilla. Like a vanilla Italian Soda. Spiciness that lends itself towards the tingly sensation of Italian Soda. Creamy, sweet, gentle, French Vanilla type of vanilla.  With nuance from the patchouli, but good. One of Cheeba's favourite flavours from NN.

(1.26.24)

Recipes:

Root Beer Float by Thadentman - uses FLV Vanilla Bean with their Root Beer, FW VBIC and CAP Vanilla Whipped Cream. The Root Beer is fairly subtle, even at 4%, quite a weak flavour for FLV. The Vanilla Bean adds some nuance to the Root Beer.

Rumchata De Coco by Juicefairy - coconut horchata with some rum. Uses TFA Vanilla Swirl at 5% and TFA VBIC at 5%. Vanilla Swirl can mute at higher %s, which may not be a negative considering the flavours she used. TFA Horchata Smooth isn't a very smooth flavour so the Vanilla Swirl could be helping to soften the edges. Very balanced recipe. Easy to vape, flavourful. Nothing is bullying anything else. Nice mellow coconut, creaminess and depth from the vanillas. Nice spice from the Horchata Smooth and the Jamaican Rum. Not that boozy, but any more rum may push it into being too boozy or spicy.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 63- SUGAR COOKIES AND BISCUITS (ft. DeeJay_Mills)

Chocolate cookies covered separately,  cinnamon cookies covered in cinnamon pastries episode and coconut cookies covered in coconut episode.

PUR Nilla Wafer with Milk:

Although it tastes really good it's oddly really, really warm-up like molasses kind of dark. Too dark to be a main note. Sweet, slight cookie texture, a little dry but some cream. Doesn't have the snap that nilla wafers have, but is somewhat grainy- grainy and creamy. Would work with another cookie you want to darken up a bit like Sugar Cookie. Or any cream of bakery you want to add weight to. DJ thinks it's the kind of flavour you let stand on its own in a very simple recipe. If you like how it tastes use it at around 3-4% as a main note. Maybe add a little cream or something.

(3.35)

PUR Cookie:

Really good. A lot like FA Cookie but a little bit darker- almost to the point of being caramely. Also not as dry. But the overall flavour and the crispyness is very similar to FA Cookie. DJ compared that caramel to JF Cookie- similar. SFT at 2%, but not recommended to mix at that high- 0.5-1% in a mix.

(6.25)

JF Cookie:

In between FA Cookie and CAP Sugar Cookie. It takes the best elements of each and meets in the middle of both. Softer and sweeter than FA although lacks the AP, crispiness. 2% is the maximum you can really use it. It's a lot more forgiving than FA with % though. FA tastes burnt immediately above 2% whereas if you over drip JF a little It's not such an issue. Has a caramel/ maple note but that is easily covered.

Golden Oreo Pudding by Deejay_mills

(11.37)

FA Cookie:

Works best as an accent to another cookie. It does the crispy almost burnt edges really well. Starts to taste bitter or burnt above 2%.

(7.12)

CAP Sugar Cookie:

Versatile, delicious. But don't buy big bottles as the actual un-mixed concentrate gets weaker over time. Can use up to 8%, maybe 9-10% with no off notes. Can use low, about 1% to add texture and sweetness. At this sort of % it will fill in the blanks/ cracks in bakery recipes, provide texture to a custard. You can also get the vanilla and butter note when used around 1%. 4% and up is where it becomes a sugar cookie. It's definitely a softer cookie. It doesn't have a snap or crispiness. Doesn't take much to turn it into a cake base. Definitely tastes like a mass produced type of cookie, as opposed to home made. Has lovely vanilla note. Has ethyl alcohol in it, which is probably why it fades in the bottle. It's not noticeable when vaping it, but some people may get some harshness. Can SNV it.

(14.14)

Recipe-

Simple Sugar Cookie by ID10-T. Just 8% Sugar Cookie and 4% CAP VC. Very forgiving- 1% too much or too little of either ingredient won't stop it tasting good. Great beginner mix.

(20.01)

CAP Sugar Cookie V2:

Butiric.

(19.21)

VT Cookies and Cream:

A lot like ID10-T's Simple Sugar Cookie recipe. It's a sugar cookie with some dairy notes. Light, fluffy, some creaminess. Not very grainy or crispy, lacks texture. Good vanilla and butter note.

Tested at 5%

(22.03)

CAP Crunchy Frosted Cookie SL:

Not at all crunchy. Very soft, quite a bit softer than Sugar Cookie. Not dry. No texture. Is full- flavour from the beginning to the end of the value. Has body, but it's frosting type body. Loads of commercial type frosting that's a little waxy. Not unpleasantly waxy, just accurate to store brand, commercial frosting. Not bad tasting. Might work as a funfetti cake base as is so soft. More like cake. Or could work in birthday cake ice cream. Which is just chopped up birthday cake, including the icing, and mixed with ice cream.

Tested at 4%- not much flavour. Takes 8% to get full flavour.

(23.53)

CAP SL has a tendency to be quite a bit weaker than other CAP flavours.

*Softness scale:

CAP Crunchy Frosted Cookie SL

CAP Sugar Cookie

JF Cookie

FA Cookie*

CAP Biscuit SL:

ID10-T got a lot of coconut with some biscuit underneath. Dry sweetened coconut flakes. Also has some nuttiness. Full bodied, thick, flavourful. A little hint of butteriness. Not unpleasant if you like coconut. With the big of biscuit and the coconut could be used as part of a coconut cream pie? Just needs some cream. If you wanted a graham crust the biscuit note could be bent into that quite easily.

Tested at 8%.

(27.15)

INW Biscuit:

Strong. Full flavoured at 0.75%. Recognisable in a mix, can stick out. Vaping it makes some people thirsty. Sharp nuttiness. Really lovely buttery biscuit flavour. Some people get a coconut note from it. Darker than JF.

Tested at 0.75% and 1%.

(31.21)

JF Biscuit:

Very similar to INW. But about half as concentrated. More forgiving, easier to work with than INW. Softer, sweeter, didn't have the sharper edge, less dry, a little more doughy. Doesn't cause thirstiness like INW. But has the same buttery, biscuit flavour at the heart of it. Flakey. The relationship between JF Cookie and FA Cookie is similar to that of JF Biscuit and INW Biscuit. JF Cookie is lighter, blonder than FA Cookie. JF Biscuit is just as buttery as INW Biscuit, just not as dark.

(32.34)

VT Biscuit Base:

ID10-T got plastic off note at 2%. Described it as like a multi grain biscuit, but without taking the plastic wrapper off. Maybe 2% is too high? Emily tested at 1% and didn't get any plastic. She said it has texture, tastes like a generic biscuit which lacks butter or spiciness of INW and JF Biscuit. It's a generic modifier, like TFA Graham Cracker Clear. For use if you need to add some grain to something.

Tested at 1% and 2%. ID10-T got plastic off note at 2%.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 63- SUGAR COOKIES AND BISCUITS (ft. DeeJay_Mills)

FLV Biscotti:

Biscotti that has been dipped in coffee. Biscotti is often accompanied by coffee but it would have been better to be given the option to add or not add coffee. The coffee note isn't bad at 0.5% or lower. Above that it gets burnt popcorn-y and unpleasant off notes become present.

Tested at 0.25%- a little weak. 0.5%- comes into its own. 0.75%- nasty of notes start to come in.

(38.01)

WF Shortbread Cookie:

Like McDonald's Happy Meal cookies, but more buttery, that have been cooked to the point they have browned around the edges. Pretty buttery. The burnt edge gives it some character. Emily gets a coffee note, although nobody else did. Probably from the browned edges of the cookie and the butteriness- which is what a lot of coffee flavours taste like.

Tested at 2.5%

(40.10)

WF Almond Cookie:

Really good. Would be better if there was more cookie to it. Probably needs another cookie to fill that part out if using as a cookie. But the almond it's sweet and the type of almond you'd want in a cookie. The almond is right up front and the first thing you taste. It's good as a SNV, that almond part is there right away. The cookie base fills in more as it steeps- may need 2 weeks or more for it to fully come through. Soft, fluffy cookie.

(41.40)

RF Shortbread Cookie SC:

Nice, sweet biscuit flavour top note. A little buttery. But, like a lot of RF, lacks texture, mouthfeel, body. It's top heavy and the finish is raw VG. Needs another cookie or biscuit. Something that doesn't have it's own top note.

(43.56)

RF Sugar Cookie SC:

Like their Shortbread Cookie, thin and top heavy with a weak finish. According to ID10-T tastes like the outside skin of a powdered sugar doughnut. Very sweet right on top. sweetness reminiscent more of powdered sugar rather than granulated. A little similar to OOO Powdered Sugar. There's a bakery layer underneath that but it's more cake-like. Absolutely no crunchiness. No body or depth beyond that. Tastes a little buttery, but doesn't have enough depth to call it rich. Maybe some cream could turn the powdered sugar into frosting?

(45.34)

OOO Sugar Butter Cookie:

Not a sugar cookie. Just butter with a little doughiness. The doughiness is reminiscent of CAP Glazed Doughnut, but not as offensive. Not much of that flavour, mostly butter. Could probably be covered and used as a butter flavour. But if you already have a butter flavour there's no need to get this. Really sweet. Baked butter. Could be useful?

(47.09)

FLV Cookie:

Cookie dough. No crunch or snap. Uncooked. Maple note at 2% and 3%. Not present or faint at 1%. But not a maple syrup kind of maple. It's FLV type of maple, which is a bit odd. It's the same as maple off note that is in several of their flavours. Emily likes it though. But not the same as in their Maple Bar, which has a much nicer maple. Really great gritty texture like cookie dough. Expensive flavour (?) and not an essential. Very similar to FLV Cookie Dough. You can probably sub one for the other, they are that similar. Which Wayne did with Obsidian (although he said that he would have used FLV Cookie if it wasn't one of their more expensive flavours and he wasn't selling it as a one shot)

Tested at 1%, 2% and 3%. Odd maple note at 2% and 3%. Faint to no maple at 1%. Fair amount of flavour and that gritty texture at 1%.

(49.32)

FW Cookie Butter:

UNVAPEABLE!! Tastes amazing for the first few puffs. Then burnt cotton. ID10-T tested it. After 4-5 puffs it stated to taste a bit iffy. He got to 22 puffs before it was unvapeable. He had to throw out brand new coils. Couldn't even dry burn the crud off.

(53.51)

FW Sugar Cookie:

Not very sweet. Slight butiric. No crunch or bakery texture. Fluffy. Tastes like a sucked on cookie with a tiny bit of frosting. Very vanilla forward and the vanilla is a little floral, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. FLV Smooth Vanilla is a little floral but Really good. But it doesn't fit here.

(57.47)

DEL Cookie:

A bit better than delightfully mediocre. But it's really good. Most comparable to CAP Sugar Cookie, but not as good. Not as dry, pretty smooth- almost like it has some frosting on it. Fairly sweet. Pretty decent vanilla note. Good mouthfeel. Light, fluffy cookie, although not as fluffy as CAP. Could use in a cake. Definitely a softer cookie. Not much crunch. Full bodied

(59.33)

RF Frosted Animal Cookie SC:

Similar to many of their others, it's a really good top note flavour. But finishes with raw VG. The frosting is very authentic to that of an Animal Cookie. Lacks any crunch if texture. Could use some JF Cookie to fill it out for Animal Cookie mix.

(1.02.29)

FLV Sun Cookie:

Weird. Not offensive or gross, some people might really like it because it is so odd? Tastes like a vegan, hippy type cookie. Lemony frosting with lemon zest in it. Strange raw nut/ sunflower seed that tastes kind of green. Has an almost floral note. Like two separate flavours in one bottle. Got the very bright, top heavy, lemony part. Then the cookie underneath, but there's nothing bringing the two layers together. They taste completely separate. Limited applications- what would you do with it?! Has pretty good texture.

(1.04.18)

TFA Oatmeal Cookie:

Raw, corrugated cardboard. With a touch of vanilla and a sprinkle of dry cinnamon. Very, very dry. No oatmeal. No cookie- tastes like cardboard.

(1.08.31)

WF Oats and Cream Cookie:

Not unpleasant. But if it's supposed to be a Little Debby Oatmeal Cream Pie is pretty disappointing. Not a lot of oatmeal. The closest Emily has tried of all the oatmeal type flavours, but still not oatmeal. Sweet, brown sugary bakery behind a lot of sweet, thick cream. Has a lot of brown sugar. Could perhaps use this as a base for a Snickerdoodle? Add some cinnamon.

Tested at 2.5%.

(1.09.53)

RF Peanut Butter Cookie SC:

Not completely thin and top heavy, like a lot of RF. But the bottom half is like raw cookie dough with a hint of vanilla. The top half is raw peanuts- not even roasted peanuts. Surprising as RF Honey Roasted Peanuts is really good. If you want a PB cookie it's better to mix your own from scratch.

(1.11.18)

TFA Lemonade Cookie:

Going to discuss in Lemonade episode next week.

(1.13.47)

RF Lemon is SC:

No lemon or cookie at 3%. Indistinct citrus and slightly toasted, creamy VG. Tastes unflavoured at 3%, might come together at a much higher %?  But it's an SC so wouldn't expect it to have to be used too high?

Tested at 3%

(1.14.55)

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 67 EURO CREAMS (ft. Max Savage)

*Not European companies, European types of cream. *

Bavarian Cream:

(Bavarian Cream is a custard that's mixed with whipped cream)

TFA Bavarian Cream:

Versatile and classic. Dark, almost caramel flavour, with a thick body. Can pair it with some sort of fruit and it would be good to go. Contains a lot of maltol and ethyl maltol so sweet. Can mute other flavours- although that's not always a bad thing. Can soften sharp edges or cover off notes. Cheeba wondered how it would work with citrus flavours- either clash terribly or clash beautifully?

TFA Bavarian Cream DX:

Not as good as the original - big surprise! Contains eugynol so has a spiced note, although Cheeba couldn't pick it or as specifically being clove. Thinner. But does not contain butiric acid. Tested at 3%. Underwhelming with weird spice of note. Although he has tried to mix with it and it does work. The spice note can be hidden. But if you have the option use the original.

CAP Bavarian Cream:

Quite a lot darker than TFA and spicier. MiNikon used it in a molasses-y type cookie recipe to stop it being too dry and it worked well in that. Indistinct spice - Maybe supposed to be a vanilla bean? It's a good flavour. ID10-T got a nutty, maybe hazelnut, note at 4%. Would pair well as a middle weight cream with nuts. Has a maltiness to it.

JF Bavarian Cream:

They mentioned how this is some people's fav Bavarian Cream but they disagree! Not as dark as TFA and the vanilla is pretty pronounced and bright. Missing the caramel note that TFA has and a lot thinner, pretty thin for a custardy flavour. It's a good, nice tasting flavour and maybe more versatile than CAP as it doesn't have the nuttiness or TFA as it doesn't have the caramel/ maple note that could get in the way in certain situations. It's just a little eggy, dairy and a bright vanilla. Also maybe you don't want the thickness of CAP or TFA in a recipe. This would be a better option.

DEL Bavarian Cream:

As per usual, delightfully mediocre. Not very thick. It's a nice flavour, creamy, light, nice Bavarian cream flavour to it. Cheeba uses it at around 5%. No off notes at that %. He says it's pretty similar to JF.

FA Bavarian Cream:

No DAAP but not butiric. Not lemony, like their custard. It's a pretty good flavour but ID10-T said he couldn't think of a scenario where he would use this over another Bavarian cream. Thin, sweet, dairy, whipped cream feeling flavour with some spicy vanilla. A little bit dry. No eggyness, butteryness  or rich, thick custardy -ness. It's lightness and lack of weight makes it feel like a whipped cream. Tested after over night steep and again after 6 days. Didn't change much over time. Didn't have the alcohol note like FA Vienna Cream does before a steep.

FW Bavarian Cream:

Pretty good. Lighter than TFA but richer and sweeter. Maybe the most authentic to actual Bavarian Cream. caramel notes in the background at 3-4%. Very, very smooth. Tried between 3-4% for the show and ID10-T had used it at 2% in a mix. He didn't get the caramel at 2% but did at higher %.

RF Bavarian Cream SC:

Tested at 3%. Not a bad flavour. Like melted vanilla frozen yoghurt. Has a lot of vanilla and a slightly sour dairy note. Very smooth and sweet. Starts out full flavoured but finishes a bit weak and cardboard-y. Needs to be paired with something deep that finishes strong to cover that weak cardboard issue. ID10-T thinks it could make for a really interesting top note with the vanilla frozen yoghurt thing it has going on.

Vienna Cream:

FA Vienna Cream:

Has to steep, otherwise tastes like nail polish remover. The metamorphosis of this favour is remarkable. How long a steep it needs depends on the % used in a recipe as well as what it's mixed with. Could be anywhere from 4 days to a week. After a steep it's a very sweet flavour, with a light dairy cream and a bright vanilla. ID10-T described it as being crisp- as in drinking an ice cold glass of milk or a crisp autumn day type crispness. It's a smooth and clean flavour. Pairs well with FA Meringue. The old school way to make ice cream was FA Vienna Cream with FA Fresh Cream - although this tastes more like diet ice cream.

LB Vienna Cream:

Whipped, sweet dairy cream. Relatively thin and light, especially in the middle. ID10-T mixed it at 6% per LBs suggestion. They claim it has cinnamon notes but he couldn't find any. It has more of the dryness you get from a cinnamon flavour without the actual cinnamon flavour. It's pretty dry. It's a bit heavier in the finish, but it's still a lighter whipped style cream than a full bodied cream flavour.

Italian Cream:

HS Italian Cream:

Marscapone cream cheese. Such a lovely flavour. Very, very thick, very, very rich. It's an extra heavy dairy cream that has a tang. The tangy-ness doesn't in any way taste pukey although it must have done butiric in it. Not fun to vape by itself- like eating cream cheese by itself. But it's perfect to add tangy -ness, richness and authenticity to a cheesecake. It's very potent. Only need 0.25-0.5%. You could probably build your own cheesecake or of it- add some sweetener and some crust. Could also be used in yoghurt. If you want to add a little tang to something like CAP Sweet yoghurt this is probably a better option than adding most Greek yogurts as they tend to be a bit chalky. This is very smooth, Not dry at all. It's not sweet so may have to add a little sweetener to a mix? Would also work in pastries- a cream cheese Danish and necessary in a cannolli filling.  At 2% it gets pretty cheesy. That would be to high to use in a mix anyway

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 67 EURO CREAMS (ft. Max Savage)

Catalan Cream:

FA Catalan Cream:

Used in some great recipes - Fear's Creamy Cuban for example. But this is a pretty difficult ingredient to work with. It's unique and can only be used in certain situations as it has a spiciness, citrus note and vanilla. The vanilla is reminiscent of the vanilla in Vienna Cream and is very nice. It might not be all that authentic to a Catalan cream, which is supposed to be like a more milky creme brulee infused with vanilla, lemon, orange and cinnamon. But this lacks the custard richness, it has more of a creamy finish. It's mainly the vanilla, cinnamon and citrus (and its more of a generic citrus) with a little brown sugar. The sugar is raw- it lacks the brulee'd note. It has the sugar flavour but is not that sweet. The top notes are a little bit rough and harsh, but it smooth itself out at the end. Needs to be paired with something to help out the cream aspect if you're using it as a cream- it's called Catalan Cream, but it's mainly a slice flavour with a creamy finish.

Irish Cream:

LA Irish Cream:

NOT SAFE TO VAPE! It's not water soluble and contains oils. There's a list of LA flavours that are not safe to vape. Plus, it tastes terrible! Half almond milk, half sawdust with an old fire grease note on the end.

FA Irish Cream:

Tested at around 2% by Cheeba. Tested at 1.5% and 3% by ID10-T. 3% was too high- 2% is also probably to high as it's pretty dry. 1% is probably about right and get used as an accent rather than a main flavour. Definitely has a coffee note/ roasty. Some caramel sweetness some nuttiness. Brighter vanilla. Maybe the least boozy of all the Irish Creams tried? Everyone seemed to get different things from this flavour.

Recipe:

The Irish Connection (tobacco recipe)

FLV Irish Cream:

As much coffee in this as anything else, even though Irish Cream does not contain coffee. Adding it to a coffee is a common use for it and FLV just seem to have done that for you- limits the versatility of the flavour. Saying that it does taste good. ID10-T SFT it at 1%. It was good at that % but maybe 0.75% would be better as he got a bit of a throat hit at 1% and not at 0.75%. No booze. It's more like Irish Cream flavoured coffee creamer with chocolate milk in coffee and topped with marshmallows. In fact Max Savage can taste FLV Smore in this concentrate. It's thick, very smooth and very creamy. The coffee note is like a dark roast that has maybe been slightly burnt- but didn't have any of the usual coffee off notes like burned popcorn.

VT Irish Cream:

Definitely has some booze to it, but still pretty smooth- no throat hit. It's kinda similar to FA but more boozy. It's sweet, has coffee notes. Not as thick as FA or FLV. Has a lot of little nuances - medium thick sweet cream with whiskey on top, prominent warm vanilla, chocolate and a toasted or nutty caramel sweetness. ID10-T thinks over all its pretty accurate as all of the notes it Contains can be found in various brands of Irish Cream- besides the booze being a little too faint and the chocolate is a little too prominent. Tested at 2%, where there was no whiskey flavour at all. Also at 5%, where it seems like the booze note could even stand to be a bit stronger. Although finding a whiskey flavour to do this that will go with the alcohol note it already has may be difficult as many have their own issues or taste like scotch. A good tasting flavour though.

CAP Irish Cream:

Really nice boozy note. Although ID10-T thought it was a little waxy- probably from the chocolate, and the vanilla is too bright. These off notes were very distracting, especially the vanilla which is the same vanilla that's in CAP Simply Vanilla. It's way too bright, so much so it is white in fact. It's more like alcoholic, chocolate pastry cream. Would have rathered it was a French Vanilla. The waxyness could probably bee easily be covered up, especially by another, better chocolate. But now you're making some sort of boozy chocolate cream. Cheeba likes this flavour though. Both agreed you could have some fun with it and do something with it but it might be a bit of a trickier flavour to work around all the of notes.

TFA Irish Cream:

High octane, bottom shelf Irish Cream. Rich, thick cream with a fair amount of grain alcohol. Doesn't taste like whiskey, although it definitely tastes alcoholic. Cream has vanilla but no caramel, coffee or chocolate. But a coconut off note. Tested at 3%. Could see using it in a mix at a lower %.

There's also a TFA Irish Cream II but nobody had tried it.

HS Irish Cream:

At 2% it tastes like old chalky white chocolate with butter spread onto it. Nothing in any way like Irish Cream. Might be better at a lower %? But isn't going to taste like Irish Cream.

VT Devon Cream:

Not Devon/ clotted cream. Tastes like a dark chocolate milkshake with a lemon wedge in it according to ID10-T. A rich, full cream with a lot of cocoa in it- he says it's more of a dry cocoa chocolate rather than a creamier milk chocolate and it has a sourness reminiscent of a citric sourness. Max Savage described it as like a hit chocolate packet.

CC Devon Cream:

Rebottled cupcake world. Sour cream mixed with butter and a little vanilla- tastes better than that sounds! Not a lot of flavour at 4% so he retested it at 8% and there was a lot of flavour. Super thick, heavily buttery dairy cream with vanilla. Has a dark sweetness, but not a caramel. It's almost too rich with the amount of dairy and butteriness. It's also a little sour, like cream cheese is sour. Would work great with bakeries as the butter wouldn't be out of place. Might get a little weird with fruits. Very very smooth.

DV (Decadent Vapers) Creme Anglaise:

A really, really great flavour. It has that greasy vanilla that CAP Vanilla Custard and CAP Cake Batter has. Thick, rich almost custardy but also has a lightness to it. Tested at 3% and 5%. No off notes at 5%. Still full flavoured at 3% and palate coating - it lingers on after the exhale.

WF Hollandaise Cream:

Not hollandaise sauce- not sure why it's named as such. It's a good smooth, mild cream. It's rich, has a bright vanilla and a slight tang to it. Not as much as Italian Cream, Vienna Cream or either of the Devon creams. But does have some slight tanginess. Described by WF as being eggy but it isn't overtly. It's 'smooth, creamy weight'. ID10-T would use this like a heavier whipped cream flavour. FA Cream Whipped, which is hard to source due to the diketones, it may work as a substitute. Like a whipped cream flavour but not fluffy. Smooth- no harshness.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 68- CREAMS (ft. RinVapes)

Not ranked

TFA Sweet Cream:

A sweetened heavy cream with a little vanilla, although not that sweet of a cream. Maybe an under rated and under used flavour- people try to use it to high as it's TFA. A good flavour if kept low- around 0.5-1%. It does well at bringing a neutral creaminess to a recipe although it's more of an accent. That amount is not going to make it a cream recipe on its own. You can't increase the % too much either as you will get cheesy grossness. Really funky and pungent. 2% is probably the absolute max as a single flavour. Maybe you could go higher if it's being paired with other things that will hide the off notes that will start to emerge. Works for a cereal milk as by the time you've finished eating the cereal the milk will be warm- this, when paired with another cream, gives you that warm milk type thing. Also works really well in cheesecakes.

TFA Sweet Cream DX:

Awful. Tastes exactly like baby formula vomit. Doesn't steep out.

CAP Sweet Cream:

It's much more forgiving than TFA when it comes to %s. You can go higher with it. Go to high and it gets a bit waxy and a bit cheesy- but not as funky of a cheesiness as TFA has. Between 4-5% it starts to taste a bit waxy. 6% tastes like putrid margarine. If you take it up too high it is pretty bad, but you can use quite a lot of it before this happens. It can be the main/ only cream in a mix. It's buttery, creamy, sweet. It's also pretty neutral and plain, which could be a positive depending on what you're using it for, and has some heaviness so can be used to bulk up or fill in other creams. Similar to TFA this flavour is kinda like warm cream, in the least gross way possible.

FW Sweet Cream:

Not great. Sweeter than TFA and CAP versions, creamy but ID10-T and Emily got a bit of a weird plastic, chemical off note on the finish. Although it was mentioned on Developed by Alfred Pudding (I think?) who said it was his favourite sweet cream.

FLV Sweet Cream:

Part of Cheeba's cream stone that he used in his persimmon recipe Yearning. (FLV Frosting 0.5% FLV Sweet Cream 0.75%, TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato 2%, TFA VBIC ?%) He used FLV Sweet Cream because it was lighter than their regular Cream, plus it was a new flavour it at the time. Use up to 1.75%. At 2% it gets a bit of a waxy, plastic edge to it. It's thinner and a bit more dairy tasting compared with the other day creams. Also has a little bit of a tang to it and the sweetness is fruity. It's not as smooth as FLV Cream. Because of that fruity sweetness it would be a really good cream for a fruit milk recipe, especially preach, apricot, apple, pineapple etc. Cheeba would probably pair strawberries and berries with a cream with a darker sweetness.

DEL Sweet Cream:

Delightfully mediocre. Fairly neutral but nothing wrong with it. Has some thickness, which is something Delosi flavours often lack. Cheeba SFT at 5% so maybe that's why it has that thickness?

RF Sweet Cream:

Apple scented cardboard whipped into cream. Has the same fruity sweetness FLV has, but it resembles apple more than any other fruit. Apple comes in right away, mild dairy cream at the top and a little at the bottom, mild cardboard in the middle and ends with raw VG sweetness. Dry mouthfeel. Would probably work in a fruit and cream recipe though, especially an apple and cream recipe. The cardboard note is pretty easy to cover. SFT at 3%

VT Sweet Cream:

Really good flavour. Like the inside of a Twinkie. It's thick, rich, smooth and velvety, good vanilla note, even got a bit of that hydrogenated oil greasiness a Twinkie filling has which coats the mouth.  Definitely the sweetest of all the sweet dreams tested.

FLV Cream:

Such a great flavour. ID10-T said this is the only tester he's going to finish. It's very velvety and smooth, thick without being too heavy- voluminous without being buttery. It coats the mouth. Above 1.5- 2% there's a little hint of spice and a little harsh and dry. Don't need to use a lot, at 0.5- 1% you still get the flavour with the mouthfeel and weight. It also has some emulsification properties, not as much as something like TFA Marshmallow, but enough for it to help act as a bridge between flavours.  Although, bare that in mind if you're aiming for a recipe with distinct layers. It's rich with great body and versatile. You can put it in ice cream, or anything really. Cheeba and Emily said when they need a cream It's the first one they look at.

LB Cream:

Like a whipped cream. ID10-T SFT at 6%, Emily did 3%. The top end of the flavour is almost non existent, the middle is really thin too but the bottom is really present and thick. Then it trails off right at the end. It's creamy and a bit buttery. No strong dairy or vanilla. Basic bitch cream- very neutral. Neither fluffy or very rich. It's like a watered down version of FA Cream Whipped (which i think is no longer available so could be a good sub?)

Yep you’re totally right. I bought FA Whipped Cream recently actually! Some of these I wrote a year or so ago. I tried to skim through them and delete certain bits, like notes to self or stuff I now know is wrong but obviously I missed bits. Thanks for pointing that out.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 68- CREAMS (ft. RinVapes)

OOO Cream Milky Undertone:

Neutral dairy cream, not nearly as heavy as FLV Cream, with a bright sweetness that's almost fruity (according to Emily). It's a good milk rather than a cream. Heavier than milk but has as a definite milk flavour, like whipped cream mixed with milk. Really versatile. Works just about anywhere- fruits, cereals, a dash of milky cream underneath something. It doesn't clash with things and fits with all sorts of profiles. Really good for milkshake as you want it to be looser than ice cream and it's good for loosening up a thick ice cream.

At 2% it starts to get a little bit sour and at 2.5% it's too sour. One of the easier milk flavours to work with. Others can go rancid very quickly* (discussed on episode of Developed, said it fades)*

OOO Cream Bouquet:

A good cream additive when used low because of its incredibly velvety mouthfeel and coats the mouth - according to Fear. ID10-T SFT at 2%. At this % it's like a really pleasant lemon whipped cream. The lemon is a sweet candy type lemon. Mild dairy with little hint of vanilla. Airy like whipped cream but still coats the mouth. If it will work with a bakery it could be a game changer for something like a lemon cookie- like a cookie with a lemoncello glaze, a lemon meringue pie or in instances where a lemon is going to boost other fruits like blueberry.

HS Cream:

Extra, extra heavy cream. Whole lot of buttery richness and thick. ID10-T SFT at 1% which may have been too much. Tastes like there's a lot of DAAP but the butteriness tastes a bit fake like movie theatre butter. There's a little bit of cheesiness, although not gross, more like a cream cheese. But that's probably because 1% is too high. Probably like their French Vanilla Ice Cream or their Italian Cream- needs to be used around 0.25-0.75%? Has some sweetness but no more than an actual heavy cream has.

*Maybe find more flavour notes by someone who SFT at lower %. Extra extra heavy cream could be useful if it doesn't have the fake butter at lower %. Even if it's just to add body and thickness to other creams. There's no public recipes on ATF and can't find any flavour notes.

RF Cream:

Has a big dead spot right in the middle. Mild dairy cream with a sweeter finish. A little bit buttery but also something malty or nutty in there. No off notes but the mouthfeel isn't right. Not as full, smooth or coating as you want a cream to be.

FA Fresh Cream:

Tastes thick but feels thin. So medium thickness? More of a mid-range flavour as opposed to a heavy base note. Will attach itself to a heavier cream. Dairy heavy and milky. No vanilla so a good option for mixes where you want a milkiness without vanilla. Not great as the main cream in a recipe but great for making other creams more milky or if you have another cream that sits lower in the base of a recipe Fresh Cream will lift it up so the cream comes in sooner in the vape. Cheeba uses it more as a milk than a cream. After 2% it starts to get a bit sour and rancid. Cheeba generally keeps this at 1%.

LB Fresh Cream:

The actual concentrate is pink. This may be because there's Vanillin in it which will turn stuff pink? Similar to FA Fresh Cream. It's light and has a little bright tangy sweetness. Plain neutral cream that could work as a cream base. Has a nice rich, buttery finish. ID10-T mixed it at 7% as per LBs instructions and got a coconut note. Emily mixed it at 2% and didn't get any coconut. Besides the coconut it doesn't have any unpleasant off notes but it does get dry. It is full flavoured at 2% so there's no need to take it up anywhere near 7%. Although even at 2% it is still a little dry.

JF Fresh Cream:

JF flavours are often similar to the equivalent flavours by another flavour house (usually FA) but slightly better. This is similar to FA Fresh Cream but not slightly better. It is thicker and fuller but the top notes are dry. Dry enough to ID10-T to find it throat scratchy. Not what you want in a cream. There's also a good bit of vanilla in the base. There's a lot of vanilla creams out there but not a lot of options for creams without vanilla- like FA Fresh Cream. This flavour is useable but there's better flavours to use in the scenarios you might use this in.FLV

Summary:

*FLV Cream for everything. OOO Cream Milky Undertone for milk. FA Cream Fresh for milk if CMU isn't working out you don't want it to be quite that milky. VT Sweet Cream for Twinkie filling type things.

To make half and half (half milk half cream) ID10-T would mix FLV Cream with FA Milk. Two great flavours. Or maybe OOO CMU if you can't get FA Milk. Cheeba suggested CAP Sweet Cream with OOO CMU.

Creams don't work in pods. Along with bakeries and custards. If you really wanted a creaminess in a pod recipe you might be able to do it to some degree with a strong, creamy vanilla. FLV Smooth Vanilla comes through in pods. Maybe INW Shisha Vanilla at 2-2.5%? Apparently FLV Vanilla Pudding works in a pod. Fruits, mints and tobaccos work better. Although even with these profiles it won't be complex or layered. Simple, bold mixes work best.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 70: BUTTERSCOTCH

*Butterscotch: originally was only brown sugar and butter which were heated and mixed to make a buttery candy.

Proper butterscotch sauce has heavy cream added to make a thick, rich, sticky, sweet but still pourable sauce.

The little yellow discs of butterscotch candy are artificially flavoured. It doesn't taste quite like authentic butterscotch.

The artificial butterscotch flavouring is also used in butterscotch sauces, like the stuff they squirt onto cheaper, fast food type ice cream sundaes etc. *

SA Caramel:

According to a Reddit user SA Caramel is better and more realistic to butterscotch sauce than FW Butterscotch Ripple, or any other BS flavour. All other BS are lacklustre in comparison. Velvety mouthfeel, no off notes. Although nobody in the show had tried it yet.

TFA Butterscotch:

One of the least favourites of the week. Tastes more like a creamy, really heavy brown sugar, very dark. Weird plastic off note, like their Caramel has too. It's pretty prominent and unpleasant at 4%. At 3% it's less so but still present. Half real BS and half BS candy. But leans towards sauce. Thick and creamy but the chemical note is in the way. SFT at 3% and 4%.

TFA Butterscotch DX:

Not too bad. The plastic note isn't as prominent. It's creamier but didn't have a whole lot of flavour to it. SFT at 3% but Cheeba thinks pushing it up would bring out off notes. No butiric note.

FA Butterscotch:

Not an accurate BS but a very tasty and useful ingredient for a dark, caramel-y, brown sugar, sweetness. Got great texture, and mouthfeel. Makes a good fake honey type honey substitute in a bakery. A bit thin and slightly astringent at 1.5% ID10-T usually uses this at 1-2% but SFT it all the way up at 3%. No off notes, just more intense flavour. Not a base note, sits more in the middle. Lacks creaminess, just dark stick sweet. But that makes it a good a versatile ingredient. Emily uses it in the same way she uses FLV Milk and Honey as they share a dark sweetness. Although FLV is a lot creamier and not as sharp on the sweetness.

Recipe:

Honeybun by ID10-T: Emily's favourite application of this flavour. He used it as the sticky, sweet honey glaze in the honeybun. Although Honeybuns contain no actual honey!

FW 'wins' this week as they have three butterscotch flavours and all three are pretty bloody good.

FW Butterscotch Ripple:

Really great flavour. Exactly like the name, is like the ribbons of BS in a BS ripple ice cream. Rich, smooth, Emily gets a little bit of creaminess, while ID10-T gets quite a lot of creaminess to the point he describes it as tasting like a butterscotch shake. Front forward, unmistakable butterscotch. Versatile. If you want it to be a bit more syrupy etc you can add some other BS flavours to get it now you want it. 3% is a good starting point for this flavour. Can take it up to at least 6% with no off notes.

FW Butterscotch:

A bigger, dumber butterscotch than BS Ripple. Has more of a top end because it doesn't have the creaminess. Still rich, butterscotch forward but more top heavy. Has a bit of a sharper edge because it didn't have any creaminess softening it- may be a positive depending on what you want it for. Is a mix of BS and BS candy- has the astringency of a BS candy while also having the richness of a soft crack BS. You get authentic BS but then BS candy comes in right at end. The BS candy finish can be covered up in a mix with creams or bakeries, even at 6%, see recipe below

Recipe:

Butterstotch aka Burleyscotch by Fear: ID10-T puts it up there with Cardinal. Is a butterscotch take on RY4 (although you have to like CAP French Vanilla as it's prominent even at 1.3%. It's the vanilla from their Vanilla Custard without the custard to hold it back)

*6% FW Butterscotch

1% FLV Cured Tobacco

1.3% CAP French Vanilla

1% TFA Marshmallow

1.7% FLV Red Burley*

FW Butterscotch Natural:

Pretty similar to regular BS but it's sweeter and creamier without being buttery. Did lack buttery depth. But the finish is less candy. Touch of vanilla in the middle. Does not contain diketones which would explain the lack of buttery richness. Possibly using butiric acid for creaminess, but at 3% and 6 days steep it doesn't taste vomity.

WF Butterscotch Cream Pie:

ID10-T thinks this is kind of similar to FW Butterscotch Ripple but it's lighter and less thick than the milkshake thickness of BS Ripple. Is rich and full without being very thick like a custard, more song the miss of a heavy whipped cream that's infused with butterscotch or a buttery caramel. It's very sweet without being candy sweet our fake sucralose sweet. It's creamy, smooth- even silky texture wise. The is more BS forward than BS Ripple. Whereas BS Ripple is more similar to a butterscotch ice cream this is just butterscotch with some cream. The cream has a heavy whipped cream kind of feel. Is called Pie but, life their Peaches and Cream Pie, it doesn't have any crust. Emily says it's quite a complex flavour, almost like a one shot so if your building something with a lot of other ingredients use FW Butterscotch Ripple.

FLV Butterscotch:

Cheeba's favourite. He's uses it in combination with FW Butterscotch Ripple which works well as FLV has a great in your face BS top note, then the BS Ripple gives the body and mouthfeel. As a SF it has a nice, dark brown sugar note to it but at the same time it's kinda thin, a little astringent almost like a little alcohol or reminiscent of the bitter astringency in molasses. Has a good flavour, some butteriness- is just a little thinner than you might want in a BS. Start at 1% in a mix then go up or down from there. 2% is probably the max. At 3% it gets pretty acrid.

Recipe:

Butterscotch Banana Frozen Custardby CheebaSteeba: Now VT Banana Custard exists he would probably sub that in place of both the HS and TFA. If you don't have HS then FA Banana is a pretty good sub or FLV Banana could also probably work just to boost that banana note of the TFA. Anything that is a top heavy banana really. The star is the TFA and the butterscotch. The banana needs to be boosted as the BS wants to take over.

*0.75% HS Banana

4% TFA Banana Cream

2% FLV Butterscotch

3% FW Butterscotch Ripple

3% TFA VBIC

2% CAP Vanilla Custard *

*Fruits that pair well with BS include- apple, blueberry, banana, maybe guanabana? Citrus does not, strawberry probably wouldn't either. *

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 70: BUTTERSCOTCH

FLV Smoked Butterscotch:

It's basically their delicious, top heavy Butterscotch but with a subtle smokiness. It's not as buttery or in your face BS as it is just a smoked sweetness. The smoked flavour tastes like wood smoke rather than ashy. It's what you think you might want from something like a toasted marshmallow. Don't use over 2%, the smoke gets a bit bitter and weird. 1.5% is probably around the upper limit. Works well from 0.5 to 1%

Recipe:

Emily's 321 recipe, tastes like a perfectly toasted vanilla marshmallow. She hadn't posted it publicly at the time of this episode.

*3 % VT Vanilla Cream

2% FLV Vanilla Pudding

1% FLV Smoked Butterscotch*

VT Butterscotch:

Underwhelming. Could possibly be a really good bottom note additive in the same way FLV Butterscotch is a top note additive. It's a very base-y, bottom heavy flavour with almost too much butteriness. The butter seems slightly off as well, maybe a little sour? Not terrible but there something a bit wrong with it. Compared with the other BS offerings this isn't great. Doesn't have a lot of BS flavour, just a buttery sweetness. Could maybe use it in a bakery to add that buttery sweetness?

WF Rhum Baba:

Supposed to be some sort of yeasty cake thing with a butter rum sauce and sometimes has sweet cream filling. Didn't get any rum. Tastes like a doughnut of some sort although it's not as greasy as a fried doughnut, not as heavy as a cake doughnut. Tastes like it might have some butterscotch in it. Not sure what it could be used for although tastes pretty good.

HS Butterscotch:

Not great. Cheeba SFT at 1.5% and got some pretty heavy butiric. ID10-T described it as caramel floating in movie theatre popcorn butter.

OOO Butterscotch Candy:

Even worse than HS. Doesn't taste like BS disc candy at all, which is something that doesn't seem to hard of a flavour to replicate. Extremely buttery- fake popcorn butter. Caramel like sweetness and slightly burnt. SFT at 3% with 5-6 day steep.

LA Butterscotch:

Not horrible but no. Has the same chemical taste TFA but it's right up front so a bit less of a nuisance as it doesn't linger like TFA. Top notes are easier to cover than a lingering flavour on the finish. That chemical note is followed by caramel cotton candy. Very sweet, a bit dry, not very flavourful. Then ends with caramel butterscotch candy flavour, has some depth to it, not so dry and really nice smooth buttery finish that lingers. Relatively thin over all and not very satisfying. 2% is full flavoured. Concentrate is black in the bottle.

RF SC Butterscotch:

Nice BS flavour in the outset. Rich and creamy at first then tapers off into nothing. A lot of RF a very top heavy with the mid and base just completely missing. You just suddenly get raw VG in there place. At least this takes its time to disappear into nothing so would probably be fine to use for its top note with other flavours. ID10-T speculated this with FLV Cream and FLV Vanilla Pudding could be a good start to a nice butterscotch pudding. RF being the BS top note, the cream would help weigh it down, help the vanilla pudding on the finish and emulsify it a little bit.

DEL Butterscotch:

Delightfully mediocre! Although in this category it has a lot of good competition. The flavour is fine. Tastes like a bitter BS sauce, not buttery, missing depth you'd want from a BS sauce. Nothing wrong with it, just flat. No punchy BS flavour or creamy, buttery finish.

RF Butterscotch Pudding (VG Version):

Not pudding, not worth it. Even if it steeps for a really long time it never really becomes a BS pudding. More like a BS flavoured whipped frosting. Needs about 3 weeks min to steep or is harsh and nearly flavourless. Need to use 4% min to get it to full out. Probably around 6-8%.

*There are no flavours this week that read as butterscotch disc candy, which is surprising as that seems easier to replicate. Maybe try FLV Butterscotch paired with Caramel Candy? Although even then it will likely be missing that bright, fake BS flavour.

There a lot of recipes of there that have a butterscotch flavour paired with a caramel flavour. BS and caramel are used quite often to bump each other up. So you may see a caramel recipe with a BS or a BS recipe with a caramel. They go hand in hand as they do share similar aspects. Often BS lack brown sugar flavour whereas caramels often tend to be very brown sugary. If a caramel isn't creamy enough you can use a BS to fill that in.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 73: CHOCOLATE (ft. ConcreteRiver & JBird)

Bakers Flavors Chocolate Truffle (SC Gourmet Chocolate Truffle):

really good chocolate, but hard to get a hold of. Gets a little dry, but has none of the off notes usually associated with chocolates. Some may get a coconut of note.

3.51

MB Glamour Chocolate:

really good. Most resembles milk chocolate from ones Emily has tried. Most others are either cocoa or dark chocolate.

5.29

INW Milk Chocolate:

Reformulated. Used to be a good chocolate, although now it's gone maybe it's been hyped up beyond what it actually was?! But now chocolate flavoured condom. Strong rubber note.

7.25

FLV Milk Chocolate:

Some get Hershey's syrup, others get more of a baker's chocolate. When mixed with a little FLV Sweet Coconut tastes like Magic Shell chocolate, similar to Hershey's syrup and also not real chocolate. A good chocolate, but hard to mix with. Even at 0.25% can be a bully in a mix. Not waxy, plastic or dry like many others. But it's going to make whatever its mixed with chocolate flavoured. It isn't going to be something with some chocolate in it. Off notes start to come in above 0.5%. But can be covered in a mix. Cheeba used it higher in a bold tobacco as it had to be a bully to contend with the tobacco.

Start at 0.25%, even that may be too high as is a bully. 0.5% start to get off notes, can be covered in a mix.

10.20

*Chocolate in vaping is tricky as many chocolate flavours ( inc. FLV Milk Chocolate, TFA Double Chocolate Clear, VT Chocolate Base Clear) tend to make something chocolate flavoured, as opposed to something with chocolate in it. Making something like chocolate chip cookie is hard as a lot of the time you're going to get a chocolate flavoured cookie.  *

VT Chocolate Base Clear:

Works in same way as FLV, TFA DCC, in that it makes things chocolate flavoured. In the same way TFA DCC it does a pretty good job at bringing a bit of chocolate to a mix. But lacks the body or the presence to be an actual chocolate by itself. Similar to TFA DCC, a bit more Tootsie Roll-ish. Up higher it can go a little bit more plastic-y, as opposed to TFA which goes a bit more waxy. Is actually clear.

14.20

LB Lava Cake:

(Reformulated since this show aired- so these notes refer to the old formulation) Really good mouthfeel. Not as dry as many others. Versatile. 1-2% like a hot fudge or chocolate syrup, although Concrete still gets cake-y, bakery notes down low. 6-8% a chocolate lava cake. Milk chocolate, no Tootsie Roll, kind of creamy. Thick, fudge like mouthfeel. Sweet and sticky.

Tested at 6%.

17.26

FLV Chocolate Deutsch:

Really good chocolate, coconut cake. Does all the elements really well. The chocolate element may be the best chocolate of the week. Coconut is probably belong with sweetness and moisture. Reads as cake no matter the %. Can vape as a SF. Will bully a mix unless kept low.

Start at 0.25-0.3% and work up if using in a mix. Use at 1-2% as a SF.

Recipe- mint chip cookie FIND NAME by Shyndo.

19.45

WF Chocolate Chunks:

Starts to go Tootsie Roll at 3%. At 2% it's a good milk chocolate. Actually reads as a chocolate chunk, hard candy chocolate sort of feel.

Tested at 2%, 3% and 4%.

23.14

Emily would use either WF Chocolate Chunks of HS Australian Chocolate for chocolate chunks of chips in something. Preferably HS.

HS Australian Chocolate:

Quite a bit darker than WF Chocolate Chunks but reads in a similar way, hard shell type chocolate. More of a dark chocolate, robust cocoa.

24.47

CAP Fudge Brownie V1 and V2:

V1 may have been discontinued. V2 still available. But they appear to be very similar. Pretty solid brownie, tastes good. Dense, fudge-y  But hard to use in a mix. Can't get it to taste anything other than CAP Fudge Brownie. Doesn't mix well with anything. Dark, wrecks coils.

25.56

CAP Chocolate Glazed Doughnut:

Play Doh off note. The chocolate glaze is pretty good. Limited versatility, can't use it just for the chocolate glaze note as always going to taste like chocolate glazed doughnut. Impossible to bend into anything else.

Can use between 2% - 8%.

Recipe- Bronuts by ENYAWRECKLAW

29.16

FA Chocolate Glazed Doughnut:

Tastes like Bronuts recipe, but not as sweet and a little more flat. Pretty heavy yeasty note, similar to that in FA Joy, that sticks out. Less Play Doh then CAP, more yeasty. Jen Jarvis used as part of an Oreo layer, but for the most part, similar to CAP, it's going to taste like a chocolate glazed doughnut. Has powdered sugar element, similar to that in FA Zeppola.

Can use up to around 5%.

30.56

LB Chocolate Roll:

Pretty authentic Tootsie Roll. At least they're honest about what it is! Waxy chocolate note.

Mix around 9% as SF

33.46

DEL Milk Chocolate:

Below the level of delightfully mediocre. Odd toasted almond off note, pretty strong. Chocolate is ok and kind of read as milk chocolate

Tested at 5%.

35.46

FW Double Dutch Chocolate:

CONTAINS SOLID FATS - POTENTIAL FOR LIPID PNEUMONIA. More of a chocolate frosting. Creamy, rich. Can get a little dry and powdery.

37.15

FW Double Dutch Twister:

Like FW Double Dutch Chocolate with some FW White Chocolate in it. Pretty tasty, like chocolate fudge and white chocolate fudge mixed together or creamy chocolate frosting, with some white chocolate. May have limited applications?

Recipe - Cold House Tookies by sixstrings, a chocolate chip cookie recipe.

37.57

FA Chocolate and FA Cocoa combo - HIC used to say this combo made a good chocolate. Emily tested this theory and they don't! Both have a funkiness.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 73: CHOCOLATE (ft. ConcreteRiver & JBird)

FA Cocoa:

A fairly decent cocoa. Concentrate is dark, gooey and full of sediment. It completely wrecks coils. Fairly decent, accurate dry cocoa flavour. Chalky. But Concrete could see the slight funkiness Emily was talking about in the experiment she did above. Hes only ever really used it with creams and didnt notice anything too sour. Thinks it is FA Chocolate that is really bringing more of the funk, rather than the Cocoa.

42.50 and 43. 47

*A lot of chococlate flavours are coil wreckers. Most are dark concentrates in colour. They make wicks crispy so after the first few drags everything tastes flat, muted and dry. *

FA Chocolate:

Has a sour, spoiled milk element to it. Dry and just not very good.

43.31

VT Swiss Chocolate:

Has dark, rich chocolate note, if a little dry. But reminiscent of being in a copy toner room. Chemially, printer toner with hot copier paper note, especially on the front end. Not subtle either.

45.03

VT Dark Chocolate:

A little bit dry, a bit heavier on the cocoa. Not particuarly dark or rich. No dark chocolate bite. Its an OK dry chocolate. Not offensive. Same level of chocolatey-ness as a Hersheys bar, but as dry as a dark chocolate, bit strange.

47.40

VT Chocolate Milk:

Not an authentic chocolate milk. Pretty good creamy, nice richness, slightly sharp. A little musky, although not offensively so- gives some depth.

48.41

DEL Dark Chocolate:

Better than their Milk Chocolate. Definitley more dark chocolate than their Milk Chocolate is milk chocolate. Still a bit underwhelming. Has a little of the same toasted almond note that is in the Milk Chocolate, but not as much. A little bit dry. Chocolate flavour is OK. Thin, like most DEL flavours are.

Tested at 5%

50.34

HS Chocolate Cream:

Really funky at 2%, too high? Like the same buttery funkiness HS French Van Ice Cream has if you go too high. Kind of chocolately. Also has a nuttiness. No distinguishable chocolate at 0.5%

Tested at 0.5% and 2%

52.01

Folkart described it as a chocolate with Italian Cream in it. More of a cream that you add to a chocolate to enhance the chocolate that you're adding it to. Dark chocolate has a sourness. HE Chocolate Cream adds that bit of sourness.

VT Devon Cream:

Concrete's favorite choc from VT. Not supposed to be a choc. Tastes like a fairly good SF choc milkshake. Fairly thick, good mouthfeel. Definite cocoa note. Fairly well balanced with the cream. Gets lemony at higher %s.

54.16

VT Chocolate Mousse:

Choc note is good. A little plastic unless you let it steep. Creamy, nice and rich. Kind of has fluffy texture. Good for something like a choc milk as isnt a particularly solid choc. It's kid of whispy. Wouldn't work in something like a bakery as main choc. Doesn't have a solid base, really thin so better used as a accent to another choc. But a good accent choc.

Concrete tested at 2% and 6% and mixed with it between 1% all the way up to 8%. It never stands up in the front of a mix, no matter the %.

55.35

DEL German Chocolate:

Slightly above delightfully mediocre. Nice, smooth choc. Hint of candy coconut, sweet, pretty subdued. A little bit thin, but smooth. A little toastiness, but no nuttiness like the other DEL chocs. Cheeba has used in recipes before, works well in a mix.

Tested at 5%

59.14

TFA Ruby Chocolate:

Based on an attempt at introducing a fourth type of chocolate. A fermented white chocolate so real ruby choc isn't supposed to have any dark cocoa notes. TFA Ruby Choc is not authentic as has a darker, cocoa with some raspberry. But is really tasty. It's a decent dark choc, a little bit dry. The berry/ red fruit is probably raspberry, although not easily distinguishable. A good flavour to bridge chocolate with any type of berry

1.00.14

JF Milk Chocolate:

Pretty decent milk choc. Maybe over hyped. A little dry and sharp. A little on the bitter side, like FLV Milk Choc and not as milky as Glamour Choc.

1.02.56

DEL Chocolate Coconut:

More of a coconut flavour, rather than a choc flavour. Dark Chocolate, a little dry. But mostly coconut. The actual concentrate is pretty dark in colour. Decent coconut with some dark chocolate notes.

1.04.10

FLV Red Velvet:

Cake doesn't have a lot of texture. Light cocoa note. Weaker version of Chocolate Deutsch without the coconut. Some weird off notes.

1.06.00

OOO Chocolate Milk:

Not Nesquik choc milk. A bit darker and a little thin. But has some richness and creaminess. Has some sweetnes, but like a lot of chocs it needs a lot more. Decent choc milk.

Wayne, DIY or DIE, believes this is the choc that is being used in Golden Ticket. Suggests using at around 8% for a main choc note. Quite a light flavour.

1.07.00

INW Chocomint:

Really dark coloured concentrate. Predominant mint note with more of a dark choc.Would have to be used for a mint choc. Could work for a thin mint? But FLV Creme de Menthe would probabaly be a better option. Has a chocolate note.

1.08.53

TFA Double Choc Clear with LA Tart and Sour Experiment:

Originally mentioned on Fresh03's show. Emily tested it for the show. Found it T&S does change DCC, takes away the waxy texture DCC has. But it doesnt magically turn it into a delicious milk choc. The choc is still so so. Like a melted Tootsie Roll?

1.01.20

*Concrete found that AP really helps chocolates out. Either straight AP or CAP Cereal 27. With a long enough steep and a low enough % the distinct cereal taste disappears a bit and gives a lot more body and firmness to chocolates. * (Also coconut, FW Hazelnut, added sweetener)

1.11.28

*The biggest trick to mixing with choc is to lower your expectations and dont make it the main note.

Noted Ep. 74: PECANS (ft. Mr Burgundy)

(Not in ranked in any order)

CAP Pralines and Cream:

Hazelnut coffee creamer mixed with maple syrup. (ID10-T) A candied, sweet nuttiness with very little cream. (MiNikon) The 'maple' isn't overtly maple (like FA Maple is definitely maple), this is more of a dark sweetness and not very clear what the nuttiness is- but more like a hazelnut than pecan.

CAP Butter Pecan:

FW Butter Pecan so much better! But, CAP does the caramelized, sticky coating well though. Pretty light flavour- especially the pecan part. Used at 3% and was a little dry. Bumped up to5% and was too dry. ID10-T used it at 6% and still flavour was kind of light and slightly flat. Nothing with it, just not that impressive.

FLV Pralines:

ID10-T got mushroom- like the mushroom note in FLV Crunch Cereal (although not as strong as the Crunch Cereal). But nobody else got mushroom from it. MiNikon said it had an astringent quality. Cheeba liked it. All said it was quite a creamy flavour. Pretty strong but/ pecan flavour. Not that sweet but had a little sweetness. Used at 2%.

TFA Pecan:

Very potent- one of TFA's more potent offerings. Tastes like gasoline when used too high! MiNikon used it at 2% and got raw, uncooked pecans with a fruity sweetness and on top of that a lot of bitterness. ID10-T said at 1% tastes like a raw plain pecan- worst way to eat a pecan! Could maybe use below 1% to support another pecan? But probably not worth getting and trying to make work.

FW Pecan:

Better than TFA! Slightly roasted and has creamy feel- like a buttery richness without buttery taste. Like the butteryness nuts have when they've been chewed up-to-date a fattiness, creaminess. Pretty strong. 1% is full flavoured. Can push it up to 2-3% with no off notes at that level. Pretty solid pecan flavour. Could be used to push pecan flavour in a mix. Had that same creaminess/ fattiness FW Hazelnut has. Could be used in the same way - to add that creamy fattiness and generic nuttiness to a recipe eg. a milkshake or with fruits. More roasted than FW Hazelnut which could be a positive or negative, depending on what you're using it for. This flavour would also be good to bolster another pecan where you already have too much butter in a recipe. Eg. with FW Butter Pecan, would up nuttiness without upping butteriness.

WF Roasted Pecans and Cream:

Very roasted. Dark with a little cream to stop it tasting too bitter. A really good flavour. Some said it was pretty buttery and others said it wasn't. Definite coffee notes especially at higher % (3% was a lot of coffee). Use at 1-1.5% for coffee to disappear into the background. Would definitely work well with tobacco- the roasted note lens itself to tobacco pairings. Folkart used it to grill a pineapple in his recipe 'Pineapple Grill'.

Another good recipe using this flavour is 'Adam's Pecan Custard Perfection' by KAUZ5. Used FW Butter Pecan, WF Roasted Pecan and Cream and WF Butter Pecan Pie. Great pecan combo)

*Discussed in Developed Coffee Tobacco episode. When used at 4% it's a coffee and a really good one.

OOO Butter Pecan:

Popular flavour apparently. ID10-T said it focused a lot on the nut and butter rather than the caramelized sugar part and it feels like that's missing. Would probably pair well with CAP Butter Pecan which does that aspect really well. MiNikon likes this flavour better than FW as it's not as strong/ overpowering. The pecan is the start in OOO version then backed by the butter etc. OOO is pecan then butter then sugar. FW is butter then sugar then pecan.

FW Butter Pecan:

ID10-T prefers this to OOO. It's like butter pecan ice cream without the ice cream. The main issue with it is that it's sooo buttery- too much in some situations. Plus, when you push the % higher (3-4%) to get more of that nuttiness it gets sharp and bitter. It's a pretty strong flavour so works better at 2% it less. If doesn't get more pecan-y the further you push it up. Over 2% it does get a bit dry- like FW Graham Cracker. The butter note is a nice butter, but it's 60% of the concentrate.

PUR Butter Pecan:

Really good. Similar to FW in that it has a lot of butter (although not as much as FW). The pecan is roasted, kind of like WF Roasted Pecans and Cream - although not as dark. But does have a dark roasted quality that's really good. No off notes when tested up to 4%.TFA

OOO Butter Pecan Ice Cream:

Very tasty. The ice cream is pretty thick, not super rich like TFA VBIC, but has a good body. Probably similar to FW Ice Cream in that it's lighter. The butter pecan is really similar to their butter pecan flavour, just not as present as there's that cream in the background. Maybe they put their butter pecan with their ice cream flavour? It's very good though- MiNikon valued her whole tester! This would work as a SF, it's that good. Although, what would you do with this flavour of you were to use it in a mix? Maybe just add TFA VBIC to add richness to the ice as it's already a pretty complex flavour/ profile.

Recipe:

Culvers Butter Pecan Salted Caramel Mixer (by the Vaping Surveyor): Contains a lot of HS Ice Cream at 2%. But Mr Burgundy thought it worked really well as a recipe. The richness that was lacking in the OOO Butter Pecan Ice Cream the HS really makes up for it. The INW Creme Brulee is a nice accent. It adds some roasted notes to the mix.

RF Butter Pecan Pie (SC):

Sucks! Although not the worst RF ever. Does have some nutty pecan notes. Non-descript nutty to note. Not like a pecan specifically with a hint of molasses. Vague sweetness which all RF seem to have. Sweetness may be just raw VG as 3/4 of the vape is missing- just VG.

WF Butter Pecan Pie:

MiNikon did 5% SFT while ID10-T went up to 4%. MiNikon got some pie crust notes, although faint. ID10-T and Mr Burgundy got none. Either all our mostly pie filling, but without the gloopy, custardy centre. Easy to fix- just add a custard. Already has a fair amount of butter and the custard will add more butteriness so bare in mind.

3% is good. No off notes at 5%, may even go higher.

Recipe:

123 Pecan Pie buy ID10-T: 1% FA Apple Pie, 2% FA Custard Premium, 3% WF Butter Pecan Pie

DEL Pecan Pie:

Above the line of delightfully mediocre. Pretty toasted, Maybe too toasted for regular pecan pie. But works well in tobaccos to give nutty toastiness. Could work well to give toasted quality to other things too. Good nuttiness. Pretty thin like most DEL flavours. Ok pie crust, but still lacking in that respect.

*TFA Toasted Marshmallow is often used to give a toasted quality, but there are better options. Folkart used WF Roasted Pecan and Cream really low in this way. *

FW Maple Pecan:

Really nice flavour. Although pretty distinct so limits versatility. Very similar to FW Butter Pecan but drier, it is quite dry. Nice, sweet, maple note- not overbearing, good balance. Can't hide maple or cover - it's not hugely assertive but is present. Might be able to cover the pecan in a bakery if you just wanted the maple note? The pecan may just give some texture and make it drier?

Tested 2-4%. Good at 2%, full flavoured. 3% is a little dry and throaty. 4% too dry.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 89: AMERICAN TOBACCO (ft. Fear, Chemical Burn Victim & Jerry)

Flavor Revolution (FR):

Have 4 tobaccos, but they're all pretty similar.

(3.35)

FR Woody Tobacco:

Grassy base of a tobacco absolute. Not oak, but some sort of woodiness.

FR Sweet Tobacco, FR Leafy Tobacco, FR Morning Tobacco:

All have that same grassy base as FR Woody Tobacco and not much else going on.

Old school tobacco absolutes can taste like cat pee/ ammonia. INW do TAs right for the most part.

TFA Tobaccos:

(7.45)

TFA Black Honey:

Like a sweet cigarillo. Some might pick up a very slight aniseed note or sweet spice note. Earthy, dark, slightly smokey little cigar.

TFA Cigarillo (Mild Black):

Their Black Honey is a better cigarillo. Like Western and Black Honey mixed together.

TFA M Type (discontinued):

Had TA in which is why they discontinued it. TFA put up a blog post on how to create it. Consisted of Bitter Nut Extra and Tobacco Absolute. Was maybe the base for most commercial tobacco juices at the time. Was very strong, quite cat pissy, but usable.

TFA Cubano Type:

Bell pepper note? May just be before steeping? Needs about 3 weeks.

TFA Western (Cowboy):

Not terrible, but very old school tobacco flavour. Not specifically tobacco- like something burning that could be tobacco. It's useable. But there's so many better tobaccos out now. Needs a lengthy steep. May have been reformulated? ID10-T bought a new bottle to get this. The main note he got was dirt with additional note of tobacco, leather, wood and maybe some under ripe fruit. Which seems like it's the same as it always has been. Only had 5 days steep though.

*People used to carry their tobacco in leather pouches not only for their durability, but also because it lent a nice tone to the tobaccos. Leather and tobacco share a similar earthy quality. FLV are lacking a tobacco with leather notes. Asian flavouring companies seem to do leather well. *

SMN (Seedmans?) Virginia Fire-Cured Tobacco:

Old school flavour that doesn't hold up against all the better tobaccos of now.

(20.51)

PUR Tobacco Bourbon:

After 2 months steep, very sweet bourbon and no real tobacco. Not even anything woody or earthy that would suggest a tobacco. Not a bad bourbon but not boozy.

(Also see Whiskey/ Bourbon episode notes where it was also discussed)

(21.48)

PUR Tobacco Original:

Like an RY4. Has cyclatine in it, which is that dirty caramel note TFA RY4 Double has.

(23.51)

PUR Sweet Tobacco:

More boozy than their Tobacco Bourbon, but not in a good way.

(24.29)

FW 555 and Cumarin Pipe:

Both were popular for a time maybe 8 years ago. 555 is soggy, nutty, dirty tobacco. Cumarin Pipe is a wet, vanilla, almost pipe-ish tobacco-ish flavour. But there's much better options now. FW has a lot of tobaccos, about 30, but they're not known for his tobaccos and for good reason.

(25.20)

*Wet tobaccos Can be good. FLV Tatanka at 3% gets wet and extremely moist. But it's supposed to as it's a chewing tobacco. *

CAP Bold Burley:

CAP tobacco flavours in general would be good for 2009. Not even on the same teir as FAs worse offerings. Bold Burley is sweet, light - not a Burley.

(28.42) and (32.00)

*A Burley is a very sharp, dark, strong tobacco. Not usually sweet. Virginia is sweet. *

DEL Smooth Tobacco:

Mostly sweetness with a little woody note. Not a tobacco. Very smooth though. Could be used as a tobacco additive.

Tested at 5%

(30.03)

DEL Dekang:

Dekang is an Asian type of tobacco. DEL Dekang is dark, woody, a little spicy. Perry smooth, a little bit dry.

Tested at 5%

(31.11)

*People use Bitter Wizard to take the sweetness out of tobaccos. The level of sweetness in tobaccos Can be up to personal preference or can depend on what else they're being mixed with. For example a cherry or apple tobacco may want a sweeter tobacco. IRL the sweeter cigars tend to be cheaper or more novelty cigars. The sweeter pipes tend to lend more to the aromatic tobaccos. In mixing these tobacco conventions go out the window for some people as you have more freedom to do what you want. *

FLV Sweet Cigarette can be used like a sweetener for tobaccos. Works better than actual sweetener. Sweet Cigarette is like sucking on the filter of an unlit cigarette. Almost has filter taste with some vanilla. *

DEL Alberta:

Very woody, slight maple- the wood not syrup. Slightly dry, petty smooth. Pretty mellow. Very slightly sweet.

Tested at 5%

(38.10)

LB Butterscotch Graham Tobacco

Their tobaccos in general are overly sweet and a mess. Butterscotch Graham Tobacco is not good. A buttery, sweet, mess! Gross butter as well. Not butterscotch, graham or tobacco.

(40.49)

Look for Fear's butterscotch, graham, tobacco recipe. Said he would release it!

LB Sweet Pipe Tobacco:

Like cherry wood. Not tobacco. Very sweet. Mess.

(43.27)

LB Tobacco:

Tastes just like the Sweet Pipe, but with clove added.

LB Vanilla Cream Tobacco:

Vanilla Pudding pop dropped in dirt.

(44.23)

WF Vanilla Ruyan Custard:

Lovely flavour, but not much in the way of tobacco. But goes great with other tobacco flavours. Slight earthiness that's kinda on the tobacco spectrum.

(45.38)

DIYFS Holy Holy Grail RY4:

Really good. Best American RY4? Has coffee in it which limits versatility. Also has whipped cream, cream, heavier vanilla. It is sold as a one shot. The bulk of it being made up of TFA RY4 Double.

Recipe - Cardinal by Fear

(46.55)

*Fear has cloned Holy Holy Grail. It can be cloned with TFA RY4 Double and DIYFS Cafe Napoleon. But Fear cloned Cafe Napoleon as well. He also subbed TFA RY4 Double with JF to get rid of the dirt. *

Nic Vapes Tobaccos:

ChemicalBurnVictim tested their whole tobacco line, nothing was good. Carolina tasted good, but even at 10% flavour was still fairly light and seemed as though if it was mixed with anything it would get obliterated.

(53.43)

Nic Vapes Real Honey:

A honey that would go well in a tobacco for a honey tobacco.

(54.33)

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 89: AMERICAN TOBACCO (ft. Fear, Chemical Burn Victim & Jerry)

FLV Infomercial:

If you like tobaccos get all of FLV's, except for Commercial Cigarette, which you'll either love or hate and Pucker

FLV originally had their Sweet and Smokey labelled as Latakia. But it wasn't accurate- Latakia is anything but sweet. It's very smokey, has pine and cyprus notes. It's very dry. It's very much an additive. It's very, very strong. Even very strong blends are 15% Latakia at most. Ours very acrid, very smokey and very pine-y. Can't get real Latakia any more. It was cured in the rafters of barns and cyprus trees were burned underneath. Possible origins were in Syria they had a bumper crop one year so they hung it in the animals barns and burnt cyprus trees over the winter to keep the animals warm.

FLV Sweet and Smokey:

The sweetness in Sweet and Smokey isn't a fruity or EM or sucralose type sweetness. No ash. It's not smokey like ash or liquid smoke, but smoked in the same way meat is. Has a little of the INW DNB type smokiness. A good replacement for Black Fire in many situations. Although there may be times when you don't want the sweetness of Sweet and Smokey that Black Fire would be preferable. Great as a SF and also as an accent or to another tobacco. Pretty complex as a SF. Needs to be at 2% or higher to get the smokiness to come through in a mix.

Would be good with a leathery tobacco, some Lovage and Woody off and something to give it more of a heavier moist tobacco feel it would be a great pipe tobacco.

Connecticut Shade:

Tastes like cigar wrapper leaves, minus the leather note. Has a really good coffee note that can use to give the impression of chocolate, almost a fermented note and a tobacco note. Darker base that works well with vanillas and things like chocolate, coffee, caramel etc. Might be good with FLV Vanilla Marshmallow. Although be careful as at 1% it's pretty potent and pretty forward, especially for a marshmallow. It's more forward in a mix than as a SF as well.

(1.03.34)

FLV Arabian:

Heavy spice note. Very specific flavour. Has to be the star of the recipe. Not supposed to be a Camel cigerette. Can dominate a recipe as low as 0.2%. Very potent.

Recipe- Arabian Nights by Fear

(1.09.07)

FLV Commercial Cigarette:

Marmite. You'll love it or hate it. Too dirty for a lot of people. Heavily ashy. INW has DNB if you need to dirty up a mix, and is a lot less violently dirty. Gets oddly grassy, like lawn clippings, if  pushed too high.

(1.10.30)

FLV Kentucky Blend:

Has some ash. If it's too much it can be toned down by using it with something like Cured or Virginia.  Moist like fresh tobacco.

(1.11.07) and (1.25.53)

FLV Pucker:

Like Commercial Cigarette, either going to love it or hate it. It's an additive. Very grassy and very sharp and tart. As written above, Bitter Wizard can be used to take the sweetness out of tobacco. This can also be used in that way. Can Also be used to add tartness or sourness to a tobacco mix. Pairs really well with citrus.

Recipe - IPA Smoke by CokeCan Kocanda

(1.12.34)

FLV Sweet Cigarette:

As written above, can be used like a sweetener for tobaccos. Works better than actual sweetener. Sweet Cigarette is like sucking on the filter of an unlit cigarette. Almost has filter taste with some vanilla.

No noticeable ash. Very sweet for a tobacco.

Tested at 2.5%.

(1.16.17)

FLV Classic Cigarette:

Very good, authentic cigarette. Everything 555 should have been. Pretty ashy- like going back to a cigarette you smoked half of earlier and holding it in your mouth without lighting it.

(1.16.53)

FLV Cavendish:

Very, very good. Authentic. Dark, spicy. INW Cavendish has the room aroma of dirty feet, whereas this doesn't. The room note is pipe tobacco. Smells like cherry, but has no discernable Cherry note. Fruity type sweetness. Pretty sweet, which plays well with the spice notes. Moist. Cherry works really well with it. Hint of caramel in the background, without being an RY4. No vanilla.

1% is plenty of flavour. Can use it a little bigger or lower. Don't use above 2% as gets muddled and has funky off notes.

Recipe - Autumn Sunset by CheebaSteeba.

(1.19.10)

FLV Cured:

The staple. Prefect tobacco for everyone. Not ashy or acrid, not too earthy. Extremely versatile. If it had a sharp note of was at all grassy would be a perfect cured virginia. But as it is it's just a good all round tobacco. Might not be good for use as the only tobacco in a recipe. It's a little generic. But great for filling out almost any other tobacco. Can help to dry out tobaccos if they're too wet. Don't use too high as gets soapy. ID10-T tested at 3% and soapy.

(1.23.19)

*Using any tobacco too high they can get either soapy, grassy, cat pissy or weird. *

The only other profile that comes close to having as many notes as tobaccos is something like vanilla. Can easily have over 200 note in a vanilla extract. Can also have that many in just a leaf of tobacco. Even some exotic coffees will have around 20 notes in them.*

FLV Native:

Like Cured in its versatility, but not as generic/ boring. Reminiscent of American Spirit rolling tobacco. Flavourful, a little dry but not super dry. Can add something like Red Burley to make it wetter.

(1.27.40)

FLV Oriental and FLV Turkish:

Both oriental tobaccos. Both pretty similar. Turkish is perhaps a little more acrid and sharper. While the Oriental is a little more gentle and smoother and also a little sweeter. Turkish is also more oriental than Oriental. They're like Arabian in that they have to be the stars of the recipe. Have to mix around them. Both very distinct. They are both quite similar to Arabian in flavour, but Arabian has much stronger spice note and funkiness. The spice is there in Turkish and Oriental, but is much more subdued.

(1.28.55)

*Turkish is a small leaf oriental tobacco. *

FLV Red Burley:

FLVs most accurate tobacco. Really is Red Burley that you can only get from St John's Parish in Louisiana. But it does fade, one of the worst offenders for this of all the FLV tobaccos. It's nutty, has chocolate note.

Keep under 2%. It's pretty strong so 2% is a lot of Red Burley.

Recipe- Cardinal and Abuela, both by Fear.

(1.30.44)

Abuela changes after around 2 weeks. Fear remixed it, fixing this issue. He changed the mango as this was what was causing the issue. It was amplifying the tobacco. But that recipe has been sold commercially so will never be released.

FLV Tatanka:

Really good- one of everyone's favourites. ID10-T thought it was to dry for a chewing tobacco while Fear thought it was a good level of moisture.

(1.34.33)

FLV Virginia:

One of the least authentic. It's Virginia-ish, but not Virginia. It's bright, which gives it its Virginia-ish quality. A little sweet, but not as sweet as is to be expected for a Virginia. Could add a tiny amount of Sweet Cigarette to give it more sweetness. It's a little bit sharp and has a little bit of spice. Can build a Recipe around it, but likely needs another tobacco with it. Unless you like it's brightness and acridness. Connecticut Shade works exceptionally well with Virginia. Up to 0.2% of Arabian is also really good mixed with it. Red Burley, Native, Kentucky also work well with. Virginia and Cured might be a bit to dry without something else to add moisture. When Fear smoked he liked Virginia with a little Latakia or a little Burley- the blend of light and dark.

(1.36.16)

Virginia tobacco tastes very blonde, very sweet and very sharp. Has a definite bite to it. There something called 'the burley bite' which is a the bite on the tongue from smoking a Burley heavy pipe mix. This is from the heavy nicotine content. Virginia does the same thing, but not because of nicotine, but from the actual flavour of the tobacco. Some fermented Virginias get really, really sweet because of the high sugar content.

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 49: CINNAMON PASTRIES (ft. Mr Burgundy)

Churros:

*Better to just build your own. See WF Cinnamon Pastry below for possible method. *

OOO Cinnamon Churro:

Weird. Very cinnamon forward. Bakery cinnamon, but very metallic, almost sour and sharp. A little crispy bakery in the background. But cinnamon too overwhelming to use just got the bakery.

Tested at 4% as a SNV and with 5 days steep. Same issues with cinnamon after steep.

2.31

CAP Churro:

Play-doh. A little light, sweet, soft cinnamon. Not the same as the cinnamon in CAP CDS. If you use it low, 0.5%, can use it for a bit of that Play-doh note that can come off as fried dough. But too Play-doh-y for use as a main note.

5.00

FW Churro:

Has a pukey, funky, chemical off note. May be butiric? At 2% light in flavour, a bit harsh - harshness coming from how dry it is rather than the cinnamon. Pretty dry dough with a middle of the road cinnamon. Not much of a fried note, weird stale off note. At 5% has a note of chemical, toilet bowl cleaner.

Tested at 2%, 3% and 5%

7.28

Cinnamon Cookies:

LB Snickerdoodle:

Emily got a nice, thick bakery note. Cinnamon sits on top of cookie and is a little thin and a little sour and metallic, but sweeter than some others. Cheeba and ID10-T thought the cinnamon was a bit candied, a bakery or sweet cinnamon. More spicy. Like sugar cookie dough with crunched up Red Hots. The bakery part is really nice, thick and rich. But lacks baked texture, more like raw cookie dough. The Red Hots cinnamon is pretty mild. Could probably cover it with another cinnamon.

Tested at 7% and 10%

11.05

TFA Cinnamon Sugar Cookie:

Some may find it a bit harsh before a steep. Mr B found it pretty harsh at 3%. But after steeping for a couple off weeks wasn't harsh. Scratchiness coming from the really dry cinnamon, doesn't have much depth to it. Semi sweet, bakery cinnamon, not bad. Just a bit dry and scratchy. Emily thought the sugar cookie underneath was petty nice. ID10-T got a non descript bakery. But it being so non descript may make it useful if used lower than 3%? Has been used at 0.5% combination with a biscuit as the topping for a crumble.

Tested at 3%

14.27

INW Spicy Biscuit:

More of a ginger cookie. Nice flavour though.

17.07

DEL Spiced Cookie:

Not ginger necessarily. Got kind of a musty scent. Not much cinnamon, so will discuss on another episode.

17.27

Cinnamon Danish Pastries:

CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl:

Definitely very cinnamon forward compared to some others. But does have a key good balance between the bakery and cinnamon. Cinnamon does have sour, metallic edge. But not so much that it's unusable. Can use at low or high %s. Nice white dough note. Texture borders on being a bit too snappy for a cinnamon roll, unless you push it up a bit higher. But that's what gives it some of its versatility. That texture works in a lot of profiles- cookies, cereals, cinnamon rolls. Can use it just for the cinnamon between 0.5% - 1.5%. Depending on how strong of a cinnamon you're looking for. It's not until 2% that the pastry starts to come through. (Some people get a strong metallic note from CDS, like sucking on pennies)

Tested at 2%

17.52

Recipe:

Sadlad Toast Crunch by Rageisalotofwork.

TFA Cinnamon Danish:

Has funky, stale, mouldy note. Not a lot of bakery, and what is there comes across as bready. Weird cinnamon. Like stale toast with cinnamon and ground up pennies on it.

21.18

LB Bakers Touch:

Poorly named. Sounds like it should be an additive. But it's pretty much a one shot. Has a lot going on. LB describes it as cinnamon coffee strusel cake a la mode. It's really tasty. But doesn't have the separation needed to call something a la mode. Nice bakery cinnamon, pretty up front and forward. A bit powdery, like cinnamon sugar. Not really a coffee cake, but it is a cake. Moist. With ice cream that's mixed up with it. Between the cake and the creaminess it gives it a density, loaded with DAAP. It's pretty busy so would have to bare that in mind when mixing with it.

Tested at 9%. Mr B usually mixes it solo at around 7%, but can take up to 9%.

23.21

CAP Cinnamon Danish Swirl V2:

Basically the same as the original. But the cinnamon comes of a little bit more sour and the bakery note is a bit different. Not less smooth out more doughy, just different. The bakery note is very full.

26.19

TFA Cinnamon Danish DX:

A lot smoother and better than the original. Does have a little of a butiric note. Nice and creamy and smooth. The cinnamon seems about the same, a little funky, not particularly good.

Noted Ep. 105- RICE & HORCHATA (ft. Kittybit)

Horchata:

*Rice milk spiced with cinnamon. Sometimes it has almond in it or vanilla. Some times milk or condensed milk is add to make it more creamy.

Ranked from first to worst:*

LA Horchata:

Like floral pennies and milk

7.04

OOO Horchata:

Vanilla almond milk with red bits style cinnamon.

9.32

TFA Horchata:

Tastes like cinnamon flavoured liqueur with a little vanilla milk

11.12

FW Horchata:

Fine. The cinnamon tastes a little candied- Not quite right. Has a nice smooth mouthfeel on the finish. What would you do with it? Limited versatility.

13.52

CAP Horchata:

Very predictable flavour. Cinnamon is fairly light and is the same cinnamon CAP always uses- it's in their CDS etc. For reference it's the same amount of cinnamon they use in their Graham Cracker. Has a very heavy, French vanilla. No texture but very sweet, very thick, very smooth. No rice note so not horchata. Would work well for anything requiring a cinnamon vanilla cream- cinnamon ice cream?

16.16

DEL Horchata:

No vanilla, unlike the other horchatas. Vanilla isn't usually present in the real thing. However, it does have a slight butiric note. Quite dry. Flavour pretty light even at 5%. Cinnamon is very subdued. Main note is the butiric as everything ended is so light.

20.18

TFA Horchata Smooth:

Really is smooth and mellow. So much better than their Horchata. Really nice flavour. Kinda accurate. Not blatantly rice, but it is starchy. Creamy. Cinnamon is very light. Slightly dry. Would work well in a chai tea.

22.09

FLV Horchata:

Nice flavour but like eating powered Horchata mix. Have to use at 1% or below. Cinnamon well balanced and realistic- it's the same as can be found in Rich Cinnamon and Apple Filling. Has a rice note to it, not just cream. It's thick, has volume. Generally a little harsh and scratchy on the throat. The cream is a little dry too. A versatile flavour- could be used in cinnamon cereal with milk, cinnamon bakeries where you need to add body/ volume and spice. Would be great in a cookie. CAP Graham Cracker has cinnamon in it but it's a little soggy in texture and some people get penny off note with CAP cinnamons. Mixing this with a crunchy Graham Cracker like FW could be perfect for creating a better cinnamon graham cracker.

25.05

Rice:

TFA Rice Crunchies:

Cardboard. Reminds you that TFA favourings were not designed with vaping in mind. If you mix this at 4% then taste that off the back of the hand it tastes just like plain rice crispies. But when you vape it tastes like lightly sweetened, toasted cardboard. Very light in flavour while being very thick and full. Gets used in recipes as a filler. It's in Sadlad Toast Crunch and that wasn't ruined by the cardboard flavour.

31.01

FE Sweet Rice:

Very authentic jasmine rice. Then in less than a week it devolves into a mushy starchyness. Kittybit/ Nordic Flavours released several recipes based on the diet of buddha. Alfred Pudding suggested pairing Sweet Rice with a little VT Rice Base. This helps with the fading issue as well as adding a bit of depth and nuance.

34.44

Recipe:

Clouds of Buddha and Mists of Buddha by Nordic Flavours

38.13

VT Rice Base:

Nutty, slight toasted notes. Almost savoury rice. Maybe a brown rice? Authentic. Full bodied. Pretty potent flavour. Full flavoured at 1%. No off notes at 2%. Texturally not as authentic as Sweet Rice when fresh. ID10-T wanted to see how it plays with coconut. As the toasty, nutty quality seems like it would work well.

Tested at 1% and 2%. Full flavoured at 1%. May be able to take a little higher than 2%. Perry strong flavour for VT.

41.30

OOO Rice Pudding:

Really bad! Like rice pudding made with sour milk. Funky, butiric. Rice pudding mixed with butter. Very rich, buttery cream. But with a sour, vomit note. Maybe would be ok with a lengthy steep? Had some fluffy rice flavour. Grainy body.

46.36

RF Rice Pudding SC:

All top note, no body. Cinnamon with a hint of vanilla rice. Nice sweetness. Would work well as a rice pudding top note. But every element would need help, except perhaps the cinnamon. Pretty good rice flavour, no starchy body. Raw VG for a lot of the vape.

49.15

DM (Doame?) Mochi:

Does taste like mochi, but also had a lot of other things going on. Sweet, thick, dry, subtle rice flavour. Almost chewing gum texture, like a mochi. Irritatingly also get lemony citrus and some slightly floral tea sort of flavour. May be able to cover with a green tea for a Matcha mochi? But all the other flavours you may want to put with it like mango and chocolate may be out of the question.

53.45

OOO Rice Milk:

Really pleasant. Bland, bottom heavy. Tastes like light, sweet cream. Very smooth. Really nice lingering, mouth coating creaminess. Not very thick. Extremely slight nutty, maltiness. Doesn't taste like rice. Like sweetened milk, without the dairy twang. Cream Milky Undertones is a thicker, creamier, fattier milk flavour. More dairy. CMU softens the top notes in a recipe, which may be a good or bad thing. Rice Milk doesn't taste like it would do that, which could be very useful. May be great in a custard. A lot of custards lack a good finish. If you wanted them to be a bit cleaner and milky-er this could do that.

56.48

FLV Marshmallow Treat:

One of the most disappointing flavours this week as FLV Marshmallow and FLV Vanilla Marshmallow are really good. But there's no marshmallow in this flavour at all! Malt syrup and raisin covered cardboard. Bold, strong cardboard note. Musty raisin or stewed prune kind of fruitiness. Maybe a touch of citrus. Very dark coloured concentrate. A bit scratchy on the throat.

1.03.11

FW Rice Treat:

Lacks the rice flavour and texture. But a nice gooey, marshmallow-y, malty, caramel. Very gooey. A little toasted. Warm. ID10-T tested at 4% and got a plastic off note. But he has a sensitivity to plastic. For those people it may be better lower? Emily had gone up to 4% with it and not got any plastic.

Tested at 4%.

1.06.05

RF Rice Crispy Treat SC:

Typically for RF it's thin. Has a little more base and depth than done of their others. But the base is cardboard. Tastes like candied yams, with the butter, marshmallow. But the yam has been replaced with cardboard. The marshmallow to note is pretty sweet and realistic. Has a little bit of butter. Could be good if you combined it with a good sweet potato flavour and could cover the cardboard? HS Pumpkin Pie? If you could cover that cardboard with something you'd have a nice marshmallow with a little butter.

1.07.57

Recipe:

Sweet potato pie recipe by Folkart. Uses WF Caramel Rice Crispy Treats really well.

1.10.28

WF Caramel Rice Crispy Treats:

A good flavour. But not authentic to the name. Something a little grainy and a little starchy but not rice crispies. It is as much rice crispies as TFA RY4 Double is tobacco - not really at all.  But the caramel is really good. Buttery, a little bit gooey. Sweet, rich, thick.

Noted Ep. 108: PUDDING

(Only four pudding flavours this week)

FLV Vanilla Pudding:

Really similar to FLV Vanilla Custard (Not FLV Custard!). Heavy, smooth, rich notes. A little sweet, very smooth and creamy. Good warm vanilla note.

Use between 0.25- 5%

3.01

VT Pudding Base:

Not an American style pudding. A lot like nilla water thick and sweet with lots of buttery bakery. Very bready.

Use between 0.5- 2% (pretty strong)

20.15

VT Christmas Pudding:

Tastes like a fruit cake. Thick and dark molasses sweetness. Lots of spices, dried and musty fruits.

Tested at 3%

38.44

OOO Bread Pudding:

Has an odd spice note that is hard to place. Some vanilla, very bready and dense.

Tested at 2%

Noted Ep. 112: GRAPEFRUIT (ft. ConcreteRiver)

*(aired 20th August 2019)

Ranked by ConcreteRiver*

SA Grapefruit Cream:

Like a really floral pomello. Soapy, grapefruit scented hand soap. Not good. The creaminess is more of a feeling than a flavour, which makes it more gross. Maybe something a bit tart and citrus? But mostly expired, floral, soap. Tested after a week steep, which didn't help. ID10-T tried a recipe which used it at 4.5%. The soap was mostly covered up, but still enough of it to ruin the recipe.

Tested at 5%.

4.32

*Similar to OOO, SA have some gems. But for every great flavour they have 5 duds. *

FA Citrus Mix:

The grapefruit in this flavour is very similar to FA Grapefruit, which is a yellow grapefruit. Has some lemon, orange, lime. But the grapefruit is forward. ID10-T prefers it to FA Grapefruit as a SF grapefruit flavour. Although it's adulterated by the other citrus ', it's more filled out. Has more body. FA Grapefruit is kind of thin and lacks base depth. Citrus Mix has a little more going on. FA Grapefruit also gets a bit dry. No juiciness. Although the Citrus Mix has no juiciness either. Don't know how successfully the other citrus' can be covered to use it as a grapefruit though. Concrete didn't like the other citrus flavours around the grapefruit. There's something in it that tastes a bit savoury. The orange they're using is FA Orange, which isn't that great. It's pretty prominent and stands out more than the lemon and lime. Has some harshness, like all these citrus flavours. Cheeba likes the flavour overall. Likes the mix of fruits, nice citrus bitterness.

9.09

TFA Hypno Type:

Based on Hypnotic, which is a citrus peel liqueur. Based on Seville oranges. The ingredient list from TFA shows is basically grapefruit oil, lemon oil, orange oil and ethyl alcohol. Grapefruit is the most prominent flavour. Tastes like the above citrus oils and nail polish remover. About 50% grapefruit peel, 30% lemon peel, 20% orange peel and 25% harsh, chemical taste! Despite everything Concrete didn't hate it. Not accurate to the drink it was based on, Hypnotic.

13.25

INW Grapefruit:

Tasted like basil to Concrete. Picked up a weird green note. Didn't taste bad, but didn't taste much like a grapefruit. A lot of people like it, so may be his own issue? Reddit review by DazCole, who said it is a fantastic ruby red grapefruit, it's deep, sweet etc. Emily really liked it. It's bold, really syrupy up front and has a bitterness on the tail end. Has a green herbal note, which is maybe what Concrete is picking up as basil?

16.12

VT Honey Pomelo:

Technically a pomelo is not a grapefruit, tastes like a white grapefruit with a slightly soapy lime. VT Honey Pomelo is a really good, mellow. But nice and strong. Doesn't have a lot of harshness. Very bright. Can be hard to get any body into a grapefruit mix. Can use this around 0.5%-1% to punch in a white grapefruit favour. Has some good tartness.

19.42

VT Grapefruit:

(Not part of the rankings) Not clearly a red or a white grapefruit. But definitely a grapefruit. Really solid tartness. Syrupy, sweet body. Does have quite a lot of body. The zest notes come in first, mostly grapefruit but also a little lime-y. Natural, doesn't taste candied. But very sweet. Very flavourful. Is a bit harsher than many other grapefruit flavours. But harshness isn't it off control for a citrus. Solid, although a bit middle of the road grapefruit.

Tested at 2%, full flavoured. Tastes like if it was pushed much higher it would go soapy.

21.22

CAP Grapefruit:

TLDR: grapefruit made boring. Mediocre, not even delightfully mediocre! Tastes like grapefruit Le Croix diluted with sugar water. Really syrupy sweet. Kind of candied. Flat and boring. Emily picked up some funkiness, like that in tropical fruits. Doesn't taste bad, just average, flat. Not that flavourful. Could be useful if you need a white grapefruit that isn't super aggressive.

Tested at 3%, 4% and 5%. No weird of notes at 5%.

23.37

DEL Grapefruit:

(Not part of the rankings) Cheeba forgot to mix it for the show, but remembered it being delightfully mediocre.

26.15

FA Grapefruit:

Authentic, dry. A bit scratchy. Lighter flavour, even at 3%, seems like it would get swallowed up on a mix. Might work to give a tart, bitter accent to a mix. But doesn't seem strong or bold enough not to be bulldozed but other flavours in a mix. Doubtful it could be used as the primary grapefruit. The grapefruit flavour is pretty nice, a little thin. Tastes like grapefruit in Fresca drink. If you had something a bit juicier, like CAP Sweet Tangerine, and wanted to add a grapefruit essence to it. Or might work with a lighter floral to give a little grapefruit essence and lift it up a bit. In between a white and red grapefruit, not clearly one of the other. Pretty sweet. Lacks juiciness. Thin, FA Citrus Mix has a lot more body.

27.50

FW Ruby Red Grapefruit:

Concrete really loves this flavour. Although not perfect. Like most FW natural citrus', it's very zest heavy, very bright and tends to fade in mixes. But is accurate to a red grapefruit. Has a lot of lovely, sparkling red grapefruit notes. Very bright and flavourful. Nice deep redness. Even at 3% is really zesty. The body is slightly waxy. Not to the point it's an issue, but may want to avoid mixing with anything else that is waxy. Does tend to fade in mixes. So concrete uses it a bit higher to compensate. Also pairs with things that help subdue the throat hit, like EM or flavours with EM in them like Vanilla Swirl. Pretty sweet. Doesn't need a lot of help to be a grapefruit in a mix.

Tested at 3%, 4% and 5%.

33.27

FLV Pink Guava:

Was number one in everybody else's rankings. According to Concrete, has a nice, sweet guava-ish base. With pine-y, cascade hops, grapefruit kind of top notes. The same type of grapefruit note you get from a cascade hop heavy IPA (Not a grapefruit IPA, a plain IPA). It pairs really well with FLV Yakima Hops. Works really well as a grapefruit in a busier mix. Has a lot of similar elements to a grapefruit, it's flavourful, has citrus notes, nice tartness. According to Cheeba doesn't have the same depth of a ruby red, more of a pink grapefruit. Has a bit of a muskiness. The muskiness doesn't scale up with the rest of the flavour, so at 3% there will be more muskiness then at 0.5%, but not 6x the musk.

Start from 0.5%. Has been used as high as 3% in some recipes.

38.21

INW White Grapefruit:

Emily found it light, pleasant, bright, refreshing. No major of notes. At 0.5% to ID10-T it's full flavoured, but just grapefruit peel. Very zesty. Missing the juicier, sweeter, fruit body. Useable to make another grapefruit taste more fresh and natural. According to Concrete it may need to be taken higher? It fills in at 2%, also isn't too harsh. Very definitely white grapefruit, authentic. Bright, aggressive flavour of a grapefruit. Still very zest forward, with some grapefruit body and a little juiciness. Has a similar musk to FLV Pink Guava, but much more subdued. May help to add some brightness to the depth and syrupy-ness of CAP Grapefruit. Plus make it more interesting. Or add it to Pink Guava to make it more grapefruit-y. Or could Use with another citrus or fruit to add a little bitter edge? Like cranberry. Most cranberry flavours are too syrupy and sweet.

Tested at 0.5%, 2%.

43.31

CC Caribbean Crush:

Orange and pineapple soda. Quite hard to work with. Very harsh.

1.00.40

*When mixing with grapefruit Concrete thinks it's best to accept the fact it's going to be a pretty aggressive flavour. Use the bitterness to counteract and provide contrast to the sweetness of other ingredients.

When mixing in general instead of using sweet on top of sweet, he likes to play around with pairing sweet against bitter and tart. Grapefruit is an excellent contrasting element in those kinds of recipes. Using big, aggressive flavours and beating them back with sweeter ones gives a more dynamic range.

If you use a little bit of cooling with citrus it reduces the throat hit. Also citrus flavours tend to vape pretty warm. A little bit of cooling can really help with that.

Recipes:

Grunch by Kopel (ATF)

Grapefruit mimosa. Really, really good. Authentic. 0.5% of WS23 works really well in this recipe. Just chills it a little bit.

52.15

Grapefruit Rose Paloma by TamVapes (ATF)

Really, really good. Despite the low %s used its really flavourful.

56.45

Terror Hawk by ConcreteRiver (ATF)

Concrete's best grapefruit recipe. Uses Pink Guava and Ruby Red Grapefruit against a load of vanilla. Screams grapefruit. One of ID10-T's favourite recipes.

1.01.09

Fiestas and fiasco by ConcreteRiver (ATF)

Has grapefruit , but predominantly a guava recipe. One of ID10-T's favourite recipes.

Noted Ep. 122: SPONGE AND FLUFFY CAKE (ft. Fresh03)

(Aired 29th October 2019)

Ranked from worst to first*

HC (Health Cabin) Cake:

Astoundingly bad for something named cake! Like a rotten pecan. A little sweeter than a plain rotten pecan. Nothing like cake.

Tested at 1%.

7.38

CNV (Chemnovatic) Sponge Cake:

Way too much fake movie theatre butter. Over bearing, To the point of totally ruining the flavour. Outside of that it does taste like an authentic, eggy sponge cake. Probably DAAP free. Which would mean they've possibly found a way to make a buyer flavour without diketones or butiric acid.

Tested at 3% and 4%.

10.02

*Chemnovatic has that movie theatre butter issue in several of their flavours. *

FA Nonna's Cake:

DAAP free. Has prominent, really sweet anise note. Liquorice after taste. Strong lemon note. Really thick after steeping. Has some cakey texture. Nice vanilla. May be up to personal preference. A lot of people are put off by the anise.

Use around 2-3%.

13.14

*FA has some other really good lemon cake flavours. *

FA Labyrinth:

Has FA Nonna's Cake in it. Vanilla, caramel, berry notes. ID10-T gets stewed prunes, cooked apples and berries. A little of the lemon and anise that's present in Nonna's Cake, but they're more subtle. Has some cake behind the fruit. A very busy flavour, a lot going on. Limits versatility. People usually use it as a SF. Like a one shot.

16.02

Bakers Flavors Vanilla Sponge Cake:

Dark, vanilla extract heavy bakery. Not specifically a sponge cake. Has a little sourness right on top. Might be a low amount of butiric? Reminiscent of whipped cream that's been sat out too long. Tastes a bit like whipped cream on top of the cake base. Not unusable.

Potent. Full flavoured at 1%. 1%-1.5% are about normal for BF.

19.18

*BF are pretty hard to get unless you live in Australia. Limited selection available at Vaping Zone- rebranded as SC Gourmet. Also rebranded as SC Gourmet at the Juice Factory in Australia. They have a wide selection. Also available from something Horse in Germany. *

FA Metaphor:

Has Pandoro in it. FA's attempt at a diacetyl free Pandoro replacement. Went way too hard on the citrus. Get the density and the vanilla that Pandoro has. But the best part of Pandoro is the buttery cake and it's being swamped by the strong, artificial lemon. Like a cereal lemon. A little bit Pledge-y. The actual cake is different as well- tastes almost fried.

25.01

FW Creamy Sponge Cake:

An awesome Twinkie or Ding Dong filling. But it's like a poor man's VT Sweet Cream! Not as sweet as VT. Doesn't have the ability to coat the mouth, which is one of the things that makes VT so good. Predominantly cream. Not a whole lot of cake. But some nice cake notes come through after steeping. Eggy, slightly buttery sponge cake. As a SF it's not a bad Twinkie. But have to let it steep. For more of the cake part of the Twinkie could add some Yellow Cake or OOO Golden Sponge Cake. Light, bright, artificial vanilla cream.

28.14

OOO Golden Sponge Cake:

Contains a lot of EM, to the point it has a cotton candy off note. It's like yellow cake flavoured cotton candy. Can be covered pretty easily in a mix. Can taste the crispy edges of the cake. Very dense. Buttery, eggy. More of a buttery yellow cake than an eggy sponge cake. Like the cake part of a Twinkie. Could add some VT Sweet Cream or FW Creamy Sponge Cake for a Twinkie mix.

Use around 2.5%-4%.

31.00

FW White Cake:

Sweet, soft and light. A little bit fluffy, but not a whole lot of body. Some grainy texture. A little vanilla frosting. Very similar to FW Birthday Cake, but without the artificial, food colouring note. Almost cardboard-y, but not quite. Quite dry. Didn't have any buttery richness or spongey, eggy notes. Like day old, generic, store bought white cake. Really great, authentic vanilla frosting. Good separation between the frosting and the cake. But it's 10% frosting, 90% cake. The cake is so soft it may be possible to cover that part with another bakery and just use it for the frosting?

33.24

WF Angel Cake:

Really lovely cake. (Not as authentic to Angel food cake as DIYFS Angel Cake was. But V1 was discontinued and nobody had tried the V2). Nice fluffy cake, good bright vanilla note throughout. Quite buttery, which makes it tasty but there's no butter in angel food cake. Fresh adds a drop of FLV Smooth Vanilla per 30ml - it's the perfect angel food cake vanilla, gets rid of the butteriness and just completes it. Works incredibly well with WF Fluffy White Cake. Fresh does 1.5% of either the Angel Cake or Fluffy White Cake then 0.5% of the other one. Works both ways.

36.43

WF Fluffy White Cake:

Can almost feel the fluffyness on your tongue. But at the same time is fairly rich. Nice, sugary, thin layer of vanilla frosting in the back. Fresh, homemade white cake. Goes incredibly well with WF Angel Cake (see above notes). If you're looking for a vanilla cake Fluffy White Cake is really hard to beat. Has a perfect amount of butteriness. The flavour is bolder, heavier, not so airy as Angel Cake. Also more moist. Not as dark and heavy as a yellow cake, still fluffy. Really well rounded.

39.48

WF Princess Cake:

Not as good of a tool as Fluffy White Cake. But just as a SF it's more interesting and complex. Really nice spices. Similar type of spice to Nonnas Cake, but executed so much better, nuanced and light. Fruity, berry type sweetness. Like a little bit of jam. Has layers of cream, and other things. Really deep flavour. Supposed to have a marzipan layer, but more almond extract that's been cooked into the cake.

42.07

PUR Simply Cake:

Not the best SF, but ranked no. 1 as is the best cake building tool. Almost yellow cake-ish. It's just cake and you can build whatever you want on it. A bit boring by itself. It's surprising there's not more recipes that use this flavour. Tastes like store bought plain white cake with a thin layer of cheap, vanilla buttercream frosting. A little light on the cake texture, but it is there. Has some of the caramelised brown edges that yellow cake has. A little undercooked, but not unpleasant.

45.16

*PUR Yellow Cake isn't that great. *

MB Creamy Cake:

Definitely creamy. Has subtle spice. Not bad. Lacks some of the cake-y element. But the creaminess is pretty good. Could definitely be a good building block. Would probably work really nicely with Simply Cake.

48.40

MB Cactus Cupcake:

Part of their one shot M-line. Very similar to INW Cactus. Slight cakey-ness, but mostly cactus. Not a very versatile ingredient. How often do you add cactus to a cake mix?! The cupcake is pretty good. But you'll never be able to cover the cactus to just use the cake. Weird but pretty good and interesting. It's pretty juicy, has a very mouth watering quality.

50.27

Recipes:

Philosiphucker has cactus cookie and cactus tobacco recipes.

RF Deep Fried Sponge Cake SC:

Really good. Not very deep fried. Like a Twinkie that's has been put in the oven and browned. Has a crispier edge. The actual Twinkie flavour is amazing. Quite similar to OOO Golden Sponge Cake. More full than a lot of other RF. Richer vanilla and cake note compared with the non deep fried version.

Use up to around 2.5%. Probably will start to taste burnt if go too high?

54.06

RF Golden Sponge Cake SC was petty close to a Twinkie as well. Their Deep Fried Cookies and Cream was really good, better than their non-deep fried version? Vapes differently, fuller.

RF Baked Bread is really good.

The company in Canada who took over making their flavours*

PART 1:

Noted Ep. 129: GRAPES (ft. Forment Life)

(aired 17th December 2019)

(Ranked from worst to first)*

White Grapes:

FE Sweet Grape:

Not to be confused with FE Grape, which is good. This flavour is more offensive than a Hitler action figure according to Folkart. Tastes like hair gel according to ID10-T.

3.11

CAP Grape:

Tastes more like a white grape than any other type. Forment Life got nothing but dimeatab- which is a medicine (?). It's very bland- like cardboard. Not very sweet.

4.42

FE Golden Grape:

More like a raisin. Dry with a mustiness a lot of raisin flavours have- FLV Fig has that same element. Very sweet- like a raisin. Dry like a raisin. Although, it's not like a dark raisin- it's a golden raisin. Could use as a raisin or try using a touch to try to modify other fruits into their dried counterparts? It's not a grape though.

5.58

FW White Grape:

Mostly tastes like a sweet white grape but it's obnoxiously sweet to the point it tastes fermented. It's reminiscent of a really cheap, really sweet white wine- the type that bury the crappy alcohol under a ton of sugar. Doesn't have a crisp, clean grape flavour- just really sweet and like the slightly rotten grape at the bottom of the bag.

7.55

FA White Grape:

ID10-T used it at 1% and would never go higher than that. Like eating freeze dried white grapes while wearing a little too much perfume. It has a sticky sweetness but vapes dry and very floral. You could use something to juice it up- would probably have to be pear as cactus is likely going to amplify that floral note. Has a little of that tart, tannic grape skin note and has a good grape flavour, but it's ruined by the musky, floral note right on top.

9.38

VT White Grape:

Mostly tastes like white grape, very sweet, good body. Although, it's likely to get buried when it's put in a mix as it doesn't have any sharpness- just like sweet white grape juice. That could make it useful to add to a mix when you want to bulk it out with a non descript fruit sweetness? ID10-T thought it finished a little chemically although this could likely be covered in a mix.

11.25

INW Wild Ice Cream:

ID10-T got this flavour as the picture had a bunch of white grapes spilling out of an ice cream cone. Although that's not what this is- the only reference to ice cream is the fact it has kooladah in it. Under that is a sweet white grape which even has a little of the tannic grape skin notes. It has the slightest floral edge but not off putting, tastes like it's supposed to be there. Has some body but like grape juice, Not ice cream or sorbet. No dairy notes either.

13.30

PUR White Grape:

Like a natural white grape juice. Bold and full flavoured- more pronounced than the VT. Tested at 3%. Has a syrupy quality.

15.25

Other Grapes:

*Most of these taste like purple grape candy or ice-pop type of artificial 'grape'. It doesn't taste anything like grape though- tastes like purple. *

EUR Grape:

Horrible. Tastes like a rotten, moldy grape.

18.49

OOO Happy Rancher Grape:

Tastes like soap according to ID10-T, although he gets soap when others don't sometimes and nobody else had tried it. Some of the OOO Happy Rancher flavours are really good. Probably not the grape.

19.47

Fairy's Finest Grape:

Also soapy with a little floral off-ness in the top note. Those combined makes it taste like a grape women's deodorant.

20.15

VT Grape Yogurt:

Disgusting. Warm, medicinal, chemically fruit to note that didn't taste like grape. No yoghurt but a light cream in the middle then you get that purple flavour then back to the medicinal, chemical on the finish.

20.50

OOO Grape Punch:

Slightly soapy, purple to notes, very sweet with some cherry or berry behind it but has that soapy taste that lingers.

21.52

TFA Grape Soda:

Grape medicine according to ID10-T.

(Although, DIYorDIE made a video recommending this flavour as a berry enhancer.)

22.38

HS Grape:

Medicine. Sweet, dense candy, purple to notes with a bitterness that gets stronger nearer the end. The finish is bitter and chalky.

PART 2:

Noted Ep. 129: GRAPES (ft. Forment Life)

Other Grapes Cont.

OOO Grape Soda:

Grape pixie sticks with a little medicine. Less offensive than the previous grape medicine flavours but there's better equivalent flavours that don't have any medicine of note. That powdery pixie stick flavour was probably an attempt at carbonation but it failed.

25.21

VT Grape:

Grape jelly with a little vinegar. It's sour, but the wrong kind of sour. It's Not terrible but funky.

26.37

TFA Grape Candy:

MiNikon thinks this should be lower down in the ranking. She got hairspray- chemical that bleeds into floral with a deep, sticky, good grape candy underneath. Maybe you could use it really low to make another grape into a candy a little bit- but why would you when there's better options?!

27.56

Flavor Revolution Grape Candy:

Meh. Generic grape candy with no body.

29.25

Bickford Grape:

Plastic grape candy- kinda like TFA Grape Candy in that it has similar off notes, but less so. Has some darker berry notes maybe blackberry mixed in with the grape. A lot of the purple flavour grapes on this list are very one dimensional. This one at least has some depth. Sweet and juicy. Tried at 6% so may be to much, or even too little? Maybe that plastic off note would be minimal or go at a different %?

30.14

FW Grape Berry Ice:

Has Koolada and the cardboard, chemical flavour that koolada can have. Flat, sweet, candy grape. No berry. No creaminess. Tastes like it's probably just FW Grape with cooling.

31.31

WF Sweet and Sour Purple Drink:

Delicious. Tastes a bit like that purple, candy grape flavour. Or grape Kool-aid, but different. Has some different elements to it. Maybe some lemon, some berry. Perhaps some melon. Quite nuanced. Has some tartness. Could make it a grape by adding a grape flavour. Like a flat, cheap, purple soda. Sticky sweet and bright. Has some sucralose, but not an overbearing amount. Can vape as a SF as pretty complete.

Not an SC so weaker. Need to push to 7%-8% for full flavour. Use 5% min. Gets a bit thin if used lower.

32.54

FA Grape Concord:

Basically grape skin, without the flesh inside. Natural, which is a bit of a rarity in grape flavours. Very dark grape, so accurate to concord grapes. A little tart, a bit floral, not at all sweet. Kind of tannic, astringent. Bitter floral aftertaste. A bit harsh, not juicy. Not a very pleasant SF. More of an additive. Could probably use it to make another grape more natural, authentic.

Start lower as gets floral. Use up to around 1%.

35.20

FW Grape Soda:

More of an additive - a profile specific sweetener. Sweet purple. Extremely sweet - as much sucralose as CAP Super Sweet. 30% sucralose. Use to make other grapes or dark fruits sweeter. Fairly soft purple flavour on top of a ton of sucralose.

Use at the same % you would use CAP Super Sweet. 1% or less.

38.18

CRFT Purple (a oneshot):

Like a slightly better FW Grape Soda. Not terrible, but meh. Would probably use it the same way as FW Grape Soda - as a profile specific sweetener. But used at a higher %. Contains a lot of sucralose. Enough to be nauseating and have Splenda type aftertaste. The grape flavour that sits on top is bolder than FW Grape Soda. Stronger, candy grape flavour.

41.30

LA Grape:

Very average and meh. Not a whole lot of flavour, not that sweet. Blatantly artificial, but not sweet or punchy enough to be candy. Flat and dull. The purple flavour without the sweetness. Worked really well in a grape Cigarillo as artificial, as not too assertive or sweet. But besides that has very limited versatility. (Plus NV Grape would have worked better in the grape Cigarillo!) No off notes.

43.39

NV (Nic Vape) Grape:

A combination of artificial grape and smoked caramel. Would have worked better in ID10-T's grape Cigarillo recipe where he used LA Grape. As a SF it's very weird. Dark caramel sweetness. Prominent smokey note, not ashy. Tastes like it was designed to be used in a grape tobacco. In ID10-T's grape Cigarillo recipe he used FW Salted Caramel and FA Black Fire. But could have used this instead of all three ingredients. Besides tobaccos has limited versatility. The smokiness stayed in the RDA even after changing wicks. May need to change the coil and clean the atomiser.

Tested at 5%.

45.59

FW Grape:

Straight up purple. Dull and flat like LA Grape, but a little more tart, slightly sweeter and brighter. More flavourful. FW Grape Soda is likely this with an absolute ton of sweetener. But in FW Grape Soda the grape tastes like It's been buried by the sweetness.

48.17

DEL Grape:

Above delightfully mediocre! Interesting. Purple candy top note that isn't any better than FW Grape. But has a really creamy mouthfeel and very thick base. Could use in a grape gum where that thicker base would be useful. Or it's most of the way to being grape taffy.

49.44

VT Grape Juice:

Really good. Soft up front. Intensity gradually grows. ID10-T thought it finished as a perfect grape pixie stick flavour. Not at all juicy, a bit dry. But tastes good. Emily and Forment thought it was more like a low sugar, grape juice. Not as sweet as something like Welche's. But it's deep. It's thick and syrupy. Would work well with TFA Grape Juice, see notes below.

51.43

TFA Grape Juice:

Not as deep as VT Grape Juice, and is pretty thin. Is top heavy, but has a good top note. It's purple flavoured, but no off notes. However it does taste a bit watered down. Pushing % higher doesn't make it bolder it just brings out some perfumey, grassy off notes. But it's really useful to add more purple to notes to something. May well mix well with VT for a grape juice layer as VT is more base-y and flavour comes in more on the end. While TFA lacks any body but has a good top note. Forment Life tested it at 4% and thought it was closer to a flat, diet, grape soda as the sweetness was clearly artificial.

Use around 3-4%. Tried at 6% and had grassy off notes.

53.30

MB Queen Grapes:

Purple flavour. At 5% it's a little better than TFA Grape Juice. A little deeper, more saturated, sweeter. Has a little bit more going on. But very similar. Still a little meh. At 3.5% it's wasn't as flavourful as you might want.

Tested at 3.5%, 5%

55.48

SC/ FE Grape:

Tested FE and SC side by side. They're identical. Delicious. Like a grape blow pop. Not as assertive as a grape Jolly Rancher. Bordering on a hard candy texture. But doesn't have the hair spray note associated with some hard candies. Top heavy. Definitely a grape candy, not a soda or pixie stick. No off notes. A bit thin. But bright and bold. Not dry.

57.09

RF Grape (didn't mention of it was the SC version):

(Not part of the rankings- would be ranked lower). Not bad, but weird. Like a purple cotton candy. A big part of what makes it cotton candy is that it had no weight to it. Just fluffy. Don't know how it could be used outside of a SF, but it is tasty.

Tested at 2.5% and 3%.

59.02

CAP Concord Grape with Stevia:

Forment thought it was Welche's grape jam. Has some nice jammy thickness. Might need some more body, but the flavour is there. Although the flavour is a little toned down when compared to the in your face grape flavour Welche's jam has. Doesn't have the bitter edge Stevia often has. It's not just the generic, artificial, purple 'grape' flavour most of the other grape flavours are. Seems like it's SNV-able.

1.00.17

INW Grapes:

A lot more flavourful than almost all the other grapes. A lot of the grapes on this list were just muted and boring. But a bit odd. Like grape Kool-aid with some real grapes in it. Mostly tastes like purple, but has some errant bits of real grape. A touch of tannic grape skin, a little earthiness. The sweetness tastes like white grape juice, despite being a purple flavour. Not the artificial type of sweetness you'd expect. Would need a whole lot of help to be a real grape. You'd have to cover a lot of purple. If want a candy grape then would have to cover the natural elements.

1.02.40

FLV Grape:

Purple flavour. Like a flat, grape soda. Or a melted grape sucker candy. In your face, bold, sticky, syrupy. Unapologetically artificial, purple grape- assertive. Nice level of sweetness. It's similar to FE/SC Grape, in that they're both bold, grape candy flavours. But they're quite different. FLV is deeper, thicker, has more body. If you don't want grape to be the main note in a mix this might not be the better option? It's very assertive, may easily take over a mix.

Noted Ep. 157: ELDERFLOWER (ft. ConcreteRiver)

(Episode aired 30th June 2020)*

St. Germaine is an elderflower cordial. Mixes incredibly well with gin and citrus.

FLV Elderflower:

Kind of similar to St. Germaine, has a nice citrus-y brightness and a little floral tang. But has a little bit of a perfumey floral taste, which St. Germaine doesn't have. That perfumey note limits the flavour somewhat. Has a hint of rose, in a similar way to how lychee kind of tastes like rose and floral, darker, more earthy and herbaceous. Touch of citrus-ish tartness. It's a good entry flavour into florals. Its pretty potent. At 0.5% it's mellow, not overtly perfumey. At 1% it's not too strong or offensive, but no longer mellow. Has some good, almost creamy feeling body. A complex flavour with a lot of depth. Tastes purple, Has a bit if a purple-y jasmine note. It's deep, Has a nice darkness and earthiness. It's a little sweet then has a slightly bitter finish, in a similar way to jasmine. That contrast is nice and refreshing, although could also be a problem. Concrete prefers it at higher %s, around 2-3%. At 3% it's a bit more floral, maybe 25% more floral. A manageable level of floral. But you get more elderflower and it has more body.

8.04

INW Elderflower:

Pretty different to FLV. May be elderberry combined with elderflower? Very fruity for an elderflower. Has the dark, purple, rose to note like FLV. But it's sharper and a little bit more perfumey. On top of a bad that's quite a bit sweeter and fruitier. Has a dark, berry, earthy kind of flavour, almost like a blackberry or blackcurrant. In the middle there's a sweet apple juice note. Very complex, Has a lot of depth and saturation. Not a bad flavour, could definitely be usable in certain mixes.

13.26

Recipes:

Elderflower Dreams by Kopel (one shot available at chefs):

a bright lemonade with tropical flavours and an elderflower finish. Really good, but pineapple is the main note and lemonade is more of a background to the pineapple, elderflower combo. Candy lemon. Too thick for a lemonade. Elderflower and citrus seems an obvious pairing. But wouldn't have guessed that elderflower and pineapple would be so good. The brightness of the pineapple with the depth of the elderflower. Very well balanced. If adding cooling careful not to add too much as can thin everything out. The dense, deeper, sweeter body is one of the things that makes this mix work so well.

16.36

WS23 pairs really well with elderflower. Refreshing. Cooking can thin out the body in a recipe.

Noted Ep. 42: GRAHAM CRACKER & PIE CRUST

GRAHAM CRACKER:

*Very useful, can add some to ice cream to make a milkshake, add to strawberry to malt it up, add texture. *

TFA Graham Cracker Clear:

Gritty, can give bakery body to a recipe, generic graham cracker taste which makes it versatile but boring as single flavour. Hint of vanilla, a little bit of richness. The best thing is it's texture. Not thin, decent body to it. So good for thickening up custards, malting up ice creams for a milkshake. Add to creams to thicken them up forgot being too noticeable, or can use in a pie crust, or as a cereal base.

Stick around 1.5- 2%. 3% is the max. Will make a difference even at 0.5%. Depends what you're using it for. If you want a Graham Cracker flavour in a mix use over 2%. But there's probably better options for an actual Graham flavour.

3.32

TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust:

Same Graham nor as it's on GCC, but fuller and more buttery. Has more texture than GCC, but also has a creaminess. Just as versatile as GCC, although probably not better for a cereal. ID10-T uses this where used to use GCC. Good for pie crust as it has butteriness. But if you need separation between layers this will blend things a bit.

6.11

FW Graham Cracker:

One of the best if you need an actual Graham flavour in a mix. More authentic Graham Cracker. Actually tastes crunchy and has snap to it- the TFA s don't quite achieve that Crunchiness. FW is thicker, darker (brown), richer. Not as versatile as TFA as it's gonna taste like a Graham Cracker.

Can take up to 4% if you need the graham in the foreground of a recipe, like a Smores recipe. Can use down at 0.5% to add a touch of graham to a mix. Full flavoured at 2-3%.

8.27

FLV Graham Cracker:

Dark, rich graham. Lacks the body that FW has. Or the grittiness of FW or TFA. But very rich in flavour. Pretty strong vanilla taste. But not creamy like a lot of vanillas. Very thin. Can be harsh- but this can be covered in a mix. Can add to a cream to add darker sweetness, great for adding maltiness to something like a milkshake. The flavour works really nicely with creams.

Full flavoured at 2%. But can use as low as 0.5%. Don't go over 3% due to harshness.

10.36

CAP Graham Cracker:

Cinnamon Graham Cracker. Accurate amount of cinnamon for the profile. Really nice flavour. Same cinnamon that's in CDS but much tamer. Pretty buttery, full, rich, smooth. Lacks snap, crunch, texture. Like a Graham flavoured soft cookie texture wise.

No issues at 4%. Plenty of flavor at 2%.

13.37

RF Sugar Cub SC:

Honey Graham Cracker with baked in honey flavour. A bit thin. Harsh by itself. All top notes, no base. Flat. But could still be useful?

Not very strong at 2%. But harsh if taken any higher. Even with 6 days steep.

17.19

PIE CRUST:

FA Apple Pie:

Good flavour, but little to no apple- just a gritty type of sweetness. Very mild spice note. Great, plain pie crust flavour.

Can take it up to 4% with no off notes. Usually used around 1-2%.

21.25

TFA Apple Pie:

More spiced, mulled apples then pie crust. Generic red sweet some with some spice. Not bad.

25.35

CAP Apple Pie:

Just pie filling, no crust. But FLV Apple Filling is better.

26.15

FW Pie Crust:

Nice, toasty crust. Bit of a caramel/ brown sugar note. Pretty rich and buttery. No texture. Pretty good pie crust.

27.48

TFA Pie Crust:

A little like Soho. A deep, toasty, flakey caramel. Use low in recipes to add flakey toastiness at 0.5% - 0.75%. Strong flavour. Can bulldoze a recipe. Gets weird up higher. The toastiness ramps up the higher you use it and becomes astringent, like it's burnt. Has a flakey pie crust flavour, but behaves like a caramel. Even at a low % it's very distinctive. When used low it does as a flaky texture. Untested theory- might be able to use higher to get the toasty caramel and lose some of the flakiness? So could use it where you might use TFA Toasted Marshmallow? But might not work.

29.45

NN (Nude Nicotine) Banana Cream Pie:

More of a one shot than a single flavour. Has banana, cream, pie crust. Really nice graham cracker type crust. Anything you need banana cream and graham crust this could potentially work. One of Cheeba's favourites from NN line.

3-4% seems a good spot.

44.54

RF Butter Pecan Pie:

Nice, buttery, flakey pie crust. Some nuttiness. The prominent flavour is the crust, so if making a pre where a nutty flavour would fit this might work.

Tested at 2%. Pretty full flavoured.
