So I've been DIYing for a while, but I just switched from a big ole box mod and RDA to a pod system. I have tried several different single flavor mixes which I saw worked better for pods but none of them have any flavor. I hate to buy store juice, Its always WAY too sweet, but I'm at my whits end. Does anyone have a fruit recipe that doesn't suck?
What sort of pod system are you using? Does it take screw in coils or are you building your own?
In my wifes caliburn I used to almost double the flavour i used in it. When she went to a mtl rta I pulled it back to about 25% extra flavour. Some flavours just taste bad at higher levels and some flavours don't really taste good at lower temperatures. Its just a matter of playing around until you are happy. I tend to stick to fruit/candy mixes with only a few flavours to keep the pg level below 40%. Considering 20% was always 100mg nic salt it can be a struggle to get more than 3 flavours in your mix at higher than usual percentages. Wife really liked blue raspberry so I'd mix this for her
- NicVape Blue Raspberry @ 10%
- INW raspberry @ 1%
- FW Hard Candy @ 1.5%
- DIY Citric Acid 10% @ to taste
- Sweetener @ to taste
Don't have my recipe available as moved house and haven't unpacked all my things yet but this would be pretty close to what I mixed. I could end up with a 65vg end product at 20mg. This worked well in her caliburn and was all she vaped for a good few months when she was getting off the ciggies.
I got my friend the Pasito to help him quit smoking. It’s a pod but it has the option to use pre made coils but you can also get a rebuildable deck. The flavour from the rebuildable deck far, far surpasses any other pod system I’ve tried. It’s pretty much on par with an RDA. Learning to build it is a bit fiddly but I got the hang of it pretty quick. I make him juice and Ive never had to alter the %s of recipes etc. It tastes good as is.
Wife's premade coils get crap flavor on the mixes I make, tried 2 different brands of coils. You may have to double your flavors on a pod, just have to be careful about off-notes.
That's certainly one way to try to fix things for pods.
I've found that the more basic your recipe is, the more success you'll have with getting the flavors to shine through. It is my belief that no nuance comes through with nearly any pod system on the market in the vast majority of recipes. I've not felt it necessary to significantly alter percentages so much as I need to alter my approach. 1 or 2 primary notes and maybe one accent will come through, but past that you're just muddling the recipe as you try to build complexity.
I may have to take the same approach for her mixes on her coils. My Key Lime Cookie tastes fantastic on my mods, but on her Cerberus Tank, it tastes like... cookie.
In fairness, the Cerberus tank is garbage.
If you're not opposed to getting her a rebuildable the Serpent SMM is still great and runs well in a similar wattage range.
Otherwise maybe look at the freemax fireluke mesh tank series with the single mesh coils are better performers in the same range as well.
As for pods. I wrote an FAQ Friday post on developing pod recipes about a year ago.
