This thread is for you to share what you are vaping lately, be it your own or another mixers recipe. Maybe you happened to stumble upon your new ADV in the July Recipes Thread? Or did someone recommend your first mix to you in the Suggest a recipe for my flavors Thread
Share what you liked or didn't like too much, but most importantly, please make sure to properly link to the recipe and to the mixer if they're on reddit.
If you need some inspiration, some websites keep track of your mixes and batches: e-Liquid Recipes and All The Flavors.
Also make sure to checkout last week's thread for inspiration or to follow up on a mix that turned out even better after a week of steeping! We keep an archive of all the past threads in our wiki as well
Happy Vaping!
I made a blueberry cereal and it sucks ass
What's the recipe? Maybe we can all learn from your failure ;)
Blueberry Wild (TFA) 8%
Bilberry (FA) 1%
Cereal 27 (CAP) 6%
Cream (FLV) 1.5%
Meringue (FA) 2%
Hazelnut (FW) 1%
Was going for a Special K but with Blueberries type of vibe but it came out not to my liking.
Icy lemonade with a little bit of raspberry and strawberry .
I just got SC Blackberry, so I decided to try some Crack Berry Pie and it's delicious.
Usually I wait until these are a bit more refined to post, but I figured I would put these up to see if there were any thoughts about my direction. All were made in the past couple of days, so far so good but who knows how its going to end up.
I had to try out this chocolate as I heard while it was quite good, the flavor is a huge bully and overtakes quite easy. This is accurate but I have tried to give a bit more body with the merangue and add a bit of a nutty background with the cereal/a.p. combo.
Cappuccino with hazelnut creamer and a touch of cinnamon.
Again playing with a bully flavor in the cap cappuccino, having a bit of the sharp flavor pop out against a pretty creamy background and seems to be working. I had tried awhile ago at a coffee/cream profile as it was one I really enjoyed in the past, but the balance was always a bit off. So I switched off that theme and went with a corner store cappuccino profile and got a bit closer.
Yup. Just another shot at a classic. Im using a tiny bit of raspberry to back up the strawberry, seeing how this turns out.
Both doughnuts are untouched (well, other than the obligatory drop or 2), going to give these a few days steep. The doughnut base was seen in a recipe by Millions81 on atf (unsure if they're on reddit) so I worked off a variation of it for both the dougnuts and added fillings accordingly.
Nice! I got a special order today and got messing around with old strawberry and ice cream recipes with coolant. Only have TFA ripe and INW Shisha tho. Ended up nicely using 0.9% TFA Acai to bolster the fruit component. Classic LB Van IC, Swirl, WS-23 with a dash of FA Almond/Meringue
I'm trying out varying ratios of MF Dark Chocolate, Mint and Butterscotch this week. I don't think a third flavor ever improves things with Medicine Flower extracts because each one is already a complex, nuanced flavor and not just a single synthetic aromatic compound. Seems 1 percent total flavor split evenly between Mint and Dark Chocolate should be perfect.
Same ADV I've been using for a while, Vanilla Cookie Custard, which was great in the first few weeks, but a few notes faded quickly and now it is kinda bland. But I made the mistake of making a sh*tton, so now I'm trying to vape through it and save my premium stuff for after the PMTA. Thinking about ordering some more flavoring and trying to improve it, but also don't want to waste anything else.
Also, it's not DIY but whatever, I just discovered Sad Boy's Pumpkin Cookie. Crazy tasty, hints of cinnamon and nutmeg with a strong pumpkin flavor, surprisingly genuine and great for looking ahead to autumn, best as an after dinner vape for me, too strong to vape for longer than an hour or two. But also great for trying to vape away my worries... Dunno why but it finally hit me this week that the PMTA might actually stick this time around, and even if it doesn't, I'm just so freaking angry and disappointed in our government 🤬😭
I am curious. What is the recipe for the vanilla cookie custard? What was the steep time on it and what kind notes faded?
I don't have my notebook in front of me, but if I remember correctly, it was 9% TPA vanilla custard, 4.5% FW cookie butter, 70:30 VG:PG, 0.6% nic. It was my first DIY project ever, and I wanted to do something simple to begin with, and VC and cookie are two of my very favorite flavor notes.
Steep time ended up being 3 1/2 weeks kinda by accident, but even after that long, it was fking delicious (despite being a bit of a coil killer, true to some experiences I've read about FW cookie butter). Bottled it in mid-April, half a liter into 100 mL bottles, as I expected this to be my ADV for a good while.
The flavors stood up for right at about two months - I remember in mid-June I got up one morning and started hitting the vape, only to be kinda disgusted by the VCC I'd mixed, first time in a week I'd vaped it. The vanilla notes had almost completely faded, and the cookie tasted off, and it had like a musty note to it now, almost like a damp, moldy flavor - not terribly strong, but you can imagine that anything tasting like that is going to overshadow everything else (not to mention that I'm an extremely sensitive taster). Initially I was scared that it was a COVID symptom, the change of taste/smell, and I didn't vape the VCC for another week or so, but even when I came back it tasted the same, no vanilla and that strange musty note.
I've gone through everything in my head to troubleshoot what may have gone wrong. I'm confident in my mixing skills, as I have a few years of lab experience and a bachelor's in Multidisciplinary Chemistry under my belt. I store all of my juice that I'm not immediately using in an ammo container - quite cool, very dark, and air/water-tight. The biggest mistake that I made was mixing so damn much for a first batch, I'll admit that up front. But as far as the flavor change, the best I can come up with is that the flavors were pretty old already (got them from a local shop, don't have the bottles anymore though so can't check the date), and the mixing process introduced enough oxygen into the liquid that the resulting oxidative change pushed some of the flavor notes "over the precipice", so to speak.
I would certainly appreciate any commentary/troubleshooting that you could offer, though. Have you heard other anecdotes of this musty flavor I'm describing? Do you think it's harmful to vape (e.g. is it sign of something else, like a mycotoxin?), and should I just pitch the rest of the batch (>400 mL) or try to rescue it? If the latter, do you have any tips about trying to rescue it? Thank you in advance 😄
I am not sure what would cause the moldy or musty flavor thay you are describing. I usually end up mixing recipes that sound good.
One thing i have noticed is your flavor percentages may be a little high. If you look on elr, TPA Vanilla custard has an average mixing quantity as 3.6% and FW Cookie Butter has an average of 2.3%. You could be getting off flavor from that. You could try to dilute it a bit and see if it may help. Maybe try 5mls of your juice and add 3.5 mls of vg and 1.5 mls of pg and see if its any better or worse.
I also know alot of people like CAP sugar cookie to add the cookie flavor and texture. Maybe some of that would help but i dont know if i would add it to your current mix.
New throw-together (keeper) recipe with a couple of new flavors recently added to my collection:
TFA Turkish 3%
VT Creme Brulee 2.5%
BFD Vanilla Cake 2%
TPA Western 1.5%
FW Butter Pecan - 1%
TFA Black Honey - .5%
Prominent tobacco, leans a bit towards a Ruyan 4 and a creme/custard while not being very sweet. Creme brulee adds body. The nuttiness note doesn't really come out though.
Caramel Apple Ry4
JF - Ry4 double - 3% Cap - Double Apple - 1.25% VSO - Apple - 3% FW - Salted Caramel - 2.50% INW - Horned Toffee - 0.64% VSO - Sweet - 0.25%
I'm sure you can use another sweetener, but this recipe surprised me. Came out really good, & this isn't even in my usual flavor profile anymore. Lmk if you try it, & what you think!
I've been vaping a few different versions of a sweet and juicy mango mix that was inspired by Malaysian-style eJuice. It started by me throwing some new flavours together a few weeks back, just as a quick test, but I quite enjoyed the mix and so I tinkered with it a little and this is what my favourite version looks like and is also my first shared recipe.
