As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses. And it's also to have FUN!
Post recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using that flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic.

I have some notes from the last time watermelon was the FOTW, and from a more recent candy FOTW.
DOD Water-Malone - Tastes like a bold yet realistic sweet fleshy watermelon - but doused with a bit of apple juice. There’s some apple flavor in there and I’m definitely picking that up, both overnight and after steeping for two weeks. It’s like biting into a huge hunk of watermelon that someone had spilled some apple juice on. So, natural watermelon with an apple off-note. As off-notes go, apple is not a bad one to to have! This solves problems with other watermelon flavors in that it’s realistic not candy and has body but isn’t dry. Very much like biting right into a crispy fresh cut slice of watermelon, except for a little apple taste that makes it taste like someone spilled apple juice on the watermelon. It’s refreshing and light like actual watermelon, but with a full fruity mouthfeel and serious depth to it and a lingering sweet watermelon finish.
TFA Watermelon Works as a supporting sweet slightly juicy but artifical/candyish watermelon flavor at 4% and lower, but it kind of weak, not a bold flavor. Pushing it up higher than 5% or so seems to result in a gnarly off note that’s kind of like hairspray while still not resulting in a bold watermelon flavor. Not thin, it does have some juicy body to it and can be really useful for making a well-rounded watermelon, but is rather flat and boring by itself in addition to being weak.
TFA Watermelon Candy - It’s pretty similar to the regular Watermelon. I’m getting some pretty serious harshness at 5% that wasn’t present when I tried it in someone’s recipe at 2%, but nothing I’d really call an off-note for a watermelon candy flavor. It tastes like a sour watermelon gummy candy with all the sourness already sucked off.
FW Watermelon Candy- The first thing I noticed when trying this one after TFA’s Watermelon Candy is how it lacks that thicker body. It’s really quite thin, but wet thinniness instead of a dry one. Like watered down watermelon snow cone syrup, but really watered down because it’s also missing that sweetness. Instead, it also seems to have a little bit of soapy aftertaste for me.
FW Watermelon - is a foul thing. FW is just not good for melons, apparently. I’m not entirely sure what that is, but it’s not watermelon. It kind of tastes like lipstick, but not just a little, like a whole mouthful just all up in you, just eating it. Really unpleasant, chemcialish, awful. It does have quite a bit of almost creamy body to it but when something is this yucky and taste like some kind of cosmetic product, that’s not good.
CAP Sweet Watermelon - Worse than I remembered it; I guess I’m getting pickier, or it’s just that I’ve tried better now and there’s no going back. Slightly perfumey, very slightly soapy, candy watermelon, kind of like under-sweetened watermelon koolaid except for the aforementioned off notes. Not especially sweet, but has a syrupy body. Little bit of throat hit.
CAP Double Watermelon - a more realistic watermelon, I think, but not realistic enough to completely shake off the artificial or candy taste. It has a strong rindy taste that almost pushes it into cucumber territory. It’s definitely not a fully ripe watermelon, although it is kind of juicy and wet.
FA Red Summer (Watermelon) - Sort of like a very authentic watermelon, but not, because it’s so dry. I mean, wetness is like a watermelon’s most defining characteristic. It’s got water right there in the name. This is like freeze-dried astronaut watermelon. It’s also thin and just sort of has that natural watermelon top note minus all wetness and some of the sweetness that makes a watermelon a watermelon.
JF Watermelon - a watermelon that runs a little more toward on the realistic end of the spectrum as far as the main watermelon flavor, but it has a thick and oddly creamy texture. Almost like a watermelon starburst minus the starburst tartness and artificiality, or watermelon taffy, that same kind of candy creaminess. I think there’s a fairly well-hidden bit of vanilla in there, it almost tastes like some kind of watermelon mixed with just a touch of TFA Vanilla Swirl. It’s definitely a pleasant vape by itself, but kind of odd. Very sweet, lingering sweet watermelon flavor, but also lingering is that oddly creamy mouthfeel.
PUR Watermelon - King of Candy watermelon? Not really. I like it, but it seems to have an identity crisis. There’s some artificiality to the front of this thing that keeps it out of realistic watermelon camp but it’s not full-on candy either. It tastes like melted watermelon slurpee, but there’s some deeper, more natural sweetness to it as well. Maybe like 50/50 melted slurpee and actual watermelon juice? Not as sticky sweet and saturated with flavor enough to be the syrup for the slurpee or snow cone, it’s like watered down with melted ice. Nowhere near as loud and tangy as something like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher, also lacking that hard candy body, living on the outskirts neighborhood of flavors. Some drawbacks - it’s a little rough on the throat off a shake, though it settles down in a couple of days. Not very thick, watery, but in a nice, juicy way.
LA Watermelon - That’s a candy watermelon without any % of real watermelon in it. People say it tastes like watermelon jolly rancher but those seem to have a lot more in-your-face flavor and tartness. This is more of an off-brand sugar free watermelon-flavored lollipop. It’s very flat and one-dimensional but still a nice candy watermelon that does well to candy up melons and other fruits. Does have a strong jolly rancher room note, but I find when vaping it that it’s softer than that and just not as punchy. I personally can’t shake and vape this one, either, though it only needs a very short steep for bit of harshness to die down.
FLV Watermelon - It’s a great natural watermelon flavor but it’s very soft in a way that tends to really have some trouble standing out in a mix, like it needs some other watermelon or melon to help push it forward if you want a watermelon vape, which generally is going to pull away from the authenticity but it’s that’s sort of the game you play if you want to mix watermelon juice and not have it be full-on candy. You can’t just crank it up in concentration to make it work, it gets perfumey and rindy and just doesn’t work. It’s dense though, with some body to it, kind of fleshy, juicy, and sweet, like a watermelon.
VT Watermelon -Very weird and not especially pleasant. It’s boozy. It reminds me of watermelon pucker but without the sour... or maybe like trying to extract the watermelon flavor out of watermelon vodka and not entirely succeeding. It also has a very sweet candy-like finish and some body to it but that boozy top note is something else.
HS Watermelon - What the fuck. That does not taste anything at all like a watermelon. It tastes like rose candy. I’m so confused. I literally do not taste any watermelon in this at all. None. I kind of tastes like sweetened rosewater. Fucking ridiculous. I mean, it’s fine, for rose candy flavor, I guess, but why does it say watermelon on the bottle? Top note is straight up walking through a rose garden and there’s a powdery candy base similar to a sweet-tart or american smartie.
INW Watermelon - 1% is light and mild, and tastes somewhat like a real watermelon, though there’s not much flavor there, which is also accurate to a real watermelon. Not super juicy or very sweet, but not as dry as FA Watermelon despite having a similar natural flavor. 3% is strong full on watermelon candy flavor, with some tartness that makes it more like Watermelon Jolly Ranchers than the LA Watermelon that people say tastes like watermelon jolly ranchers, and a hint of something that tells me it would be soapy and possibly floral if I took any higher, though it’s not really there yet. It’s a bit sweet and still not really juicy, but kind of mouthwatering so it it’s not too dry, and kind of has a hard candy type feel to it.
OoO Happy Rancher (aka Happy Hard Candy) Watermelon - softer than a Jolly Rancher too, and missing that glossy hard candy aspect, but it is undoubtedly a sticky very sweet candy watermelon flavor that doesn’t have any serious issues. It could maybe pass for some kind of artificial watermelon syrup by itself and I might use it in a watermelon soda recipe. It’s got a slight bite to it but it but lacks that strong punch of flavor you expect from a jolly rancher. I wouldn’t call it “thin” but it would be without that sticky sweet finish.
Ooo Watermelon Candy Rocks (Fizz) - definitely tastes like a very sweet watermelon candy and it clearly has a powdery sugary texture. If you’ve ever tried OoO Powdered Sugar, it’s like that, but mixed with a watermelon candy flavor. So not really fizzy, but it is pretty interesting.
CAP Silverline Candied Watermelon - has a picture of a jolly rancher looking candy right on the bottle, but it tastes a whole lot more like one of those dry, hollow green watermelon gumballs, the kind that even seem to have a fake candy watermelon rind flavor to them, and not at all like mouthwatering red or pink hard candy. This is distinctly not juicy. It’s a bit harsh, a bit thin, and kind of chemically.
WF Sour Watermelon Candy - It tastes like a sour watermelon gummy with most if not all of the sour already licked or sucked off. It's thick and has a fluffy, almost gummy feel with properly artificial watermelon top note and a sweet candy finish. Still a softer flavor than I’d like to to be, it’s not like being punched in the face with watermelon candy, but the body and sweetness it has brings more the table than others, and I’m not getting anything off about it except for having sour in the name and not really being sour.
Awesome notes. So which is your personal favorite to use?
Depends on whether I want an unapologetically candy watermelon (WF Sour watermelon candy, though maybe MB Big Watermelon will be replacing that as a favorite soon) or a bit of realistic watermelon (FA Watermelon, as long it’s mixed with a juicier component) or a bolder watermelon than FA (DOD Watermalone, as long as the apple isn’t a problem).
Usually I come for the puns, and this week's are so good they made my eyes water. (I'll show myself out).
I'll also say that PUR Watermelon is awesome. It's a slightly sweet realistic watermelon that I think is great for a wide range of applications. MB Big Watermelon is really good too, but with a slightly more candy type profile. Between the two I've got all the watermelon I need right now, but this will be a good week to see what else is out there.
I still haven't SFT'ed that Big Watermelon by itself but I tried it in some mixes and it seems like straight-up bubblicious.
I am not really a huge fan of watermelon vape but I did eat an actual watermelon the other day. I will post pics in the kitchen channel on discord later, but anyway....Because I don’t really care about watermelon I’d say the Lorann Watermelon is the best.
I took a recipe from a guy here that goes by u/RockyHarlow and mixed something called pink lady and took it and changed some things an even added things like an addition of FA Red Summer, so here you go.. it’s watermelon
TFA dragonfruit 0.75%
TFA Marshmallow 1%
TFA Strawberry Ripe 2%
TFA strawberry 2%
LA Watermelon 2%
FA Red Summer 0.25%
Total percentage is actually still very low
I never had a watermelon I didn't like. Well...maybe FA Watermelon. It's probably the most natural, but is very weak and gets stomped on too easily. My favorite is good old TFA Watermelon. If I had to rate the WM's I have best to worst:
- TFA Watermelon: A potent candy watermelon flavor
- CAP SilverLine Candied Watermelon: Another candy watermelon...Reminds me of Bubbalicious Watermelon Gum
- MB Big Watermelon: Candy watermelon flavor that's very unique... Because of this it doesn't mix well with other watermelons
- WF Watermelon (Yellow): Not sure what a yellow watermelon is, but it's a solid flavor
- WF Sour Watermelon Candy: Not sour at all and contains alot of Sucralose sweetener
- FA Watermelon (Red Summer): Most natural, but weak and gets covered up easily by other flavors
- CAP Double Watermelon: So-so flavor, like a blend of candy and natural watermelon that's weak....and if you push it high it gets weird
- CAP Sweet Watermelon: My bottom pick... weak and weird if pushed high as well
As for recipes, my favorite is this that works great in MTL and pod systems:
Strawberry Watermelon [POD] #363
Ingredient|% :---|---: Lemon Sicily (Limone Sicilia) (FA)|2.50 Lime Tahity (Cold Pressed) (FA)|1.00 Shisha Strawberry (INAWERA)|2.00 Strawberry (Red Touch) (FA)|2.25 Strawberry, Sweet (JF)|3.50 Sweet Candy (CAP)|0.75 Watermelon (TPA)|5.00
Flavor total: 17%
Sorry, but...
I do not like melon that's red
I do not like it in my bed
I sure don't like it on a plate
I fucking hat it in a vape
Hats are cool. Don’t hate.
If you actually don’t like watermelons there’s no need to hate especially since it’s FOTW.
I’ve only used Watermelon once. The wife calls it Strawberry Delight?
It’s the only juice she vapes.
- CAP Jelly Candy - 2.5%
- INW Shisha Strawberry - 1.5%
- FLV Sour Apple - 1.5%
- FA Strawberry (Red Touch) - 2%
- LA Watermelon Clear - 4%
- CAP Super Sweet - Your Preference
I’ve been wanting to try to recreate Hometown Hero’s Angel Tears (Watermelon, Strawberry, Coconut).
Maybe like a 1-2-3 (Coco-Berry-Melon)?
I haven’t actually tried any of the watermelon I have maybe someone can give me some tasting notes or provide a watermelon recommendation. I have CNV and FA Watermelon.
For coconut and strawberry I have:
FA Coconut
FLV Sweet Coconut
TFA Coconut
CNV Strawberry
FA Strawberry
TFA Strawberry Ripe
They renamed Tiger's Blood "Angel Tears."
Here are some that you might want to take a look at:

It's funny, i keep getting comments about tiger's blood years later. The most recent was yesterday after talking to a friend. I've never tried it but i guess people really did love it if it keeps popping up after all this time LoL.
> I've never tried it but i guess people really did love it if it keeps popping up after all this time LoL.
It’s kind of funny how you say that because there is a commercial juice that I’ve been chasing for a long time now and I’ve just given up. There is a very decent clone on ATF https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/113840 but now the vanilla cannot be purchased so people are trying to clone the holy vanilla, lol
I discovered FLV Wild Melon only last week and to me it tastes just like a classic artificial candy water melon.
I have Water-Malone steeping at the moment as my first mix with this flavour and also a SFT is waiting for me to try
Here is a Review by /u/CheebaSteeba for this Flavour
Been meaning to make this.
https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/7025#watermelon_crack_bx_vapor_clone_by_vurve
No, I'm not going to lose my rind...just saying that punflation devalues all puns.
May I humbly request we do a FOTW on woodruff? It's such a lovely, underappreciated flavor, yet so tricky to balance in a recipe.
So this is not one of my favorite profiles, but I don't mind it - It can be nice to vape once in a while.
I've had FLV Watermelon the longest, but I've actually never used it for anything other than that initial SFT - Same goes for my recently acquired MB Big Watermelon.
The FLV has a more natural flavor compared to the MB - FLV definitely has more rind to it than MB. MB has that typical Watermelon Bubblegum flavor imo.
Oh yeah, I also have WF Sour Watermelon Candy - Actually used it to create some "wetness" in a blue raspberry recipe once. It wasn't too bad tbh.

|Flavor|%| |:-|:-| |Watermelon (TFA)|6.0%| |Honeydew (TFA)|3.0%| |Kiwi (Double)(TFA)|2.0%| |Marshmallow (Cap)|2.0%| |PG|27.0%| |VG|60.0%|
Marshmallow is optional. Based on DIY Eliquid Recipes "3 Flavors Mix #02 – Fresh Watermelon Juice" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQq2ZUz0r0Y&t=2s). This is the best, natural, watermelon I have ever tasted. Not exactly an ADV but I do mix a 60 regularly.
Not sure what you mean by natural. All the ingredients you listed are known as "candy" versions of their respective fruits. It does seem like it would be delicious for sure. I found that the honeydew is a big bully (I tried something similar to this before...many times) and TFA Honeydew stomps over and muddles everything else. I'd try bumping down the Watermelon to 5% and sub out the Honeydew for CAP Sweet Strawberry @ 4%. I think you would like the result.
CAP (SL) Candied Watermelon- bought this one to hit free shipping on an order. Nothing great on its own but in a tigers blood/candy mix its decent. I usually use it in conjunction with TFA watermelon candy
WF Sour Watermelon Candy- really nice candy/gummy flavor. SFT this one and it could be fine on its own, albeit a bit one dimensional. In a mix though it has a chance to shine while not overtaking and allows other flavors to poke through.
TFA Watermelon Candy- this is your classic jolly rancher/tigers blood 'syrupy' flavor, really a must have if you're not looking for a natural watermelon flavor.
FLV Wild Melon- a neat flavor that on its own is almost equal parts watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew to me. In a mix it can be a neutral melon background if used on its own or suplimented with another melon to really bring out a defined note from its 3 flavor base.
I'm really not into self promotion (other than what are you vaping/ recipe of the month threads) but this gem I mixed up awhile back hit the candy watermelon mark drag the waters
Watermelon is one of those weird flavors. Real watermelon is about that summer experience for me. I want it cold, fleshy, wet and juicy on a hot day. Artificial candy watermelon flavors in an actual candy make me happy but even there you get some hard candy texture, something to click your teeth on. In vape form, I’m really not getting that and it makes me sad.
I owned a commercial line for a few years this was one of our last flavours to be released.
Cap cantaloupe 2.00%
Tpa honeydew II 0.50%
Flv wild melon 0.25%
Fa pear 0.50%
Tpa strawberry ripe 1.00%
Cap super sweet 0.80%
Cap double apple 0.25%
Fa watermelon (Red Summer) 2.50%
Tpa honeysuckle 0.50%
Cap cucumber 1.00%
Sorry not too sure how to format on here 😑
The idea behind the mix was a mixture of melons with a light honeysuckle twist.
WF yellow watermelon and MB big watermelon are on top for me, no chemical or soap taste....love watermelon vape, you can pair almost anything with that fruit...never tried with a custard tho....🤔 But last thing I did is yellow watermelon with American bubblegum and it was pretty good.... watermelon is in fact a vegetable....pfffff no way a vegetable taste so good!
PART 1:
Noted Ep. 160: WATERMELON (ft. Kittybit, UnappreciatedRobot, TeslaDelmar, Isuamadog)
(Episode aired on 21st July 2020)
*None of the usual hosts here this week
(Ranked from worst to first- predominantly by Kittybit)
Fantasy Watermelon Fantasy (available at Chefs):
Wouldn't know it's supposed to be watermelon if it wasn't labelled as such. Tastes like a good candy banana. Some slight notes of watermelon, but could only pick them out because he was looking for them. Smells like watermelon though.
8.33
Mom & Pops Jimmy's Pink:
Contains good colouring. Described as watermelon with undertones of grape and strawberry. Very perfumey, maybe because they've used a white grape. Which overpowers the rest of the profile. Not a lot of watermelon.
10.10
Flavour Junkie Peter's Secret (available at Chefs):
Described as a blend of red fruits, watermelon and guava. Tastes like a bad green apple flavour. Loaded with Koolada.
13.17
Flavor Revolution Strawberry Watermelon:
Not necessarily bad. Far more strawberry than watermelon. Watermelon is very faint, just get some nice juiciness it. The strawberry is very artificial. Like a hard candy strawberry. Very strange combination. If the strawberry wasn't present it would probably be a fairly decent watermelon.
15.46
FW Jungle Juice:
Supposed to be watermelon, berries, notes of white grape. Mainly a crappy white grape with some unidentifiable fruit. Not much watermelon. A lot of cooling. Tastes like eucalyptus with menthol.
16.56
JF Watermelon:
Isuamadog ranked it higher. But very rind-y. Could use to make another watermelon more interesting by adding some of that rind? But could very easily take over a mix. FLV Melon Rind may be a better option.
20.49
Adding a bit of rind to a watermelon mix adds depth, makes it more interesting and helps sell it as a realistic watermelon.
JF Mango is very peel heavy.
CAP Sweet Watermelon:
Others would have ranked it much higher, middle of the road. Kitty got spoiled milk off note, but nobody else did. EM thought it was disappointing as a SF, but really works in mixes. Maybe because it's a lot more syrupy than others, so adds a nice juicy, syrupy watermelon. Too candy for a realistic watermelon recipe. Not candy enough for a candy recipe.
24.44
FW Watermelon:
Nasty sweet perfume. Chemical hairspray off notes. 1% pretty sweet and mostly candied. 2% completely candy. Belongs in the bin, an abomination!
28.10
MB Ugly Delicious:
Supposed to be watermelon strawberry bubblegum. But an unidentifiable mess. Don't get watermelon, barely any strawberry and no bubblegum. According to Emily (in the chat) only ugly, not delicious.
30.21
VT Watermelon:
Awful! Has a booze note. UR thought it burns, although nobody else got that. The booze goes away after a few days steep. After that it was fine. Was pretty bright, in between candy and natural. UR and ID10-T got chemical notes, but may be sensitive to something VT is using? Kitty got a starchy note that made it taste under ripe.
32.38
PUR Watermelon:
Everyone would have ranked it much higher. Kitty and UR thought it was slightly harsh with a slightly perfumey floral. But in some mixes its really, really good. So those of notes are coverable. Not a lot of watermelon. Kitty and Isuamadog found at 4% turns into ketchup. At lower % it's good to back up another watermelon, but wouldn't work as the main note or only watermelon. Isuamadog tried it at 4% as a SNV then a few days later. Enjoyed it a lot more after a short steep.
36.10
FW Watermelon Candy:
Chewy type candy. Both Kitty and UR found the candy elements were really good. But not a lot of watermelon. It's present, but very mellow and flat. Prominent rind notes on the finish. Very dry. Not that sweet for a candy.
40.18
INW Watermelon:
Isuamadog would have ranked lower. Kitty got extremely heavy rind top note. Behind that an unpleasant, synthetic watermelon candy. Isuamadog got a very strong floral. TD got a floral rind. Isuamadog would compare it to HS Watermelon.
Kitty tested at 0.5%, then kept increasing up to 2.5%. UR and Isuamadog tested at 2.5%.
43.12
HS Watermelon:
ID10-T described it as tasting like rose candy or sweetened rosewater on the last watermelon episode of Noted. But Isuamadog thought that was a very polite description. He found it to taste very pink and red. Floral, strawberry, rose notes. But not that good. Very strong floral notes.
45.14
DV Walter Malone:
Described as watermelon with a twist. Sweet, candy watermelon rind. Very rindy. Some mellow watermelon. The rind is pretty floral, which could be a positive? Could use to add a little bit of rind to a mix. The rind somehow tastes sweet, it's not bitter. Which is odd, but the sweetness meant it tasted pretty good. Not sure what the twist is?!
46.50
LA Watermelon:
Others would have ranked it higher, in the top 5. Watermelon Jolly Rancher or Blow Pop. Very synthetic. Can only be used for artificial, candy watermelon mixes.
50.08
CAP Double Watermelon:
Slightly over ripe realistic watermelon. The rind is a little to strong. Slight sweetness. The watermelon flavour could be stronger, is pretty mellow. One of the best for supporting and accenting another watermelon. As not super strong. Isuamadog got very strong apple notes, but nobody else did.
53.48
FW Watermelon Natural:
CONTAINS FRUCTOSE. Tastes pretty good. Candy watermelon. Slight rind note.
56.57
Mom & Pops Watermelon:
CONTAINS A LOT OF FOOD COLOURING. Would have been ranked in top three of it wasn't for the food colouring. Natural watermelon. Not very sweet. A good amount of rind. Has some juiciness.
59.00
TFA Watermelon:
Very light in flavour and thin at 4%. Pretty artificial. Lacks juiciness and no rind
Tested at 4%. May need to use as high as 7-8%ish? Just need on how light in flavour it was at 4%.
1.00.56
RF Watermelon:
Ranked lower. Candy-ish. Bordered on floral. The watermelon flavour wasn't that bad. But there's better options.
Tested at 2%
1.03.26
CAP Candied Watermelon:
Tesla and UR would have ranked it much lower. Found it very one dimensional. Sugary aftertaste. Very candied. Like a knock off LA Watermelon. A good accent to another watermelon in a candy mix.
Gets soapy at around 5%.
1.04.02
Bickford Watermelon:
Ranked around 14-15th place. Really juicy, in a similar way to INW Cactus. But actual watermelon flavour is very weak. When used higher gets a chemical off note. Would be best difficult to use as a watermelon in a recipe, even to back up another watermelon. Probably only allocation would be to use in a similar way to INW Cactus, use low for juiciness/ wetness. But instead of a subtle cactus flavour a subtle watermelon flavour.
Use around 0.75-1% to add juiciness or wetness.
1.06.50
FA Red Summer (Watermelon):
Tesla ranked it as number 1. Others, besides kitty, ranked it in their top 5. Definitely natural, not at all candied. Heavy rind note. But plays off the natural watermelon flavour well. Probably best used to support another watermelon.
1.08.19
OOO Watermelon Candy:
Watermelon chewy taffy. Creamy note. No off notes. Would fit into a whole lot of different candy recipes. Has nice artificial watermelon flavour.
1.10.05
PUR Watermelon Cotton Candy:
Ranked much lower, pretty low on the list. Not nearly sweet enough. Dry. Has pretty average artificial watermelon flavour. Not authentic to watermelon cotton candy. Could be usable in certain mixes though.
1.12.17
PART 2:
Noted Ep. 160: WATERMELON (ft. Kittybit, UnappreciatedRobot, TeslaDelmar, Isuamadog).
WF Watermelon Yellow SC:
A yellow watermelon is supposed to be sweeter than its red counterpart and has a honey note. Isuamadog would have ranked it lower, he got a bubblegum vibe. But like when the flavour is starting to disappear from the gum. But nobody else got that. Kitty and UR thought it wasn't much sweeter than other, red watermelon flavours and he didn't pick up on a honey note. But thought it was a good, sweet, authentic watermelon. No off notes.
Tested at 2%. Plenty of flavour, not thin. Isuamadog tried it at 2.5%. Thought that was a good %.
1.13.33
*I got a very noticeable honey note. Thought real yellow watermelon just tasted like any other so thought it was a not unpleasant off note. Strange.
TFA Watermelon Candy:
Not candy. It's like TFA switched Watermelon and Watermelon Candy as TFA Watermelon is very candied. Tastes very authentic to the juice from a watermelon. Very, very juicy and wet. Nice sweetness. Isuamadog was the only one to disagree, didn't think it was that juicy and got a hint of cardboard.
1.16.50
FLV Watermelon:
Natural watermelon. Good balance between the rind and flesh. No off notes. The flesh is really authentic. Sweet. Slightly floral, but not in a negative way. But best used to support another watermelon.
Gets rindy if used too high.
1.20.13
MB Big Watermelon:
Sweet watermelon, bordering on candied. UR gets Hubba Bubba bubblegum watermelon. Isuamadog thought it wasn't sweet enough, like most watermelon flavours. But he still ranked it in his top two.
1.22.08
DIYFS Watermelon:
PRETTY SURE CONTAINS FOOD COLOURING. Tesla ranked lowest in his list. Totally forgettable. Like watermelon Pedialyte.
1.24.17
Chemnovatic Watermelon:
Tesla ranked it number 3. Surprisingly impressive. Realistic, no candy notes.
Needed to push to 4-5% for it to be full flavoured.
1.25.07
WF Sour Watermelon Candy:
UR would have ranked it at number 3. Contains sucralose. Not sour. Nice artificial watermelon candy flavour. No off notes. It's pretty mellow. Especially when compared to something like LA Watermelon, so would perhaps be easier to use in a mix.
Use around 2-4%
1.25.56
WF usually does a great job with candies. UR wouldn't rank WF Watermelon Candy above WF Sour Ball Candy etc.
River Supply (formally Nic River) Watermelon:
UR would rank this at number 2, his favourite realistic watermelon. Extremely juicy, very realistic, sweet watermelon. No off notes no matter the %. Doesn't have overpowering rind note.
Tested at 2%, was too thin. Use around 4-6%
1.28.39
River Supply is very affordable, like TFA.
Euro Flavors Sweet Watermelon:
It sucks!

Been annoyed with watermelon as everything tastes too candied to me. Only thing that has come close to an actual watermelon is Watermalone.
Was a huge fan of Watermelon Crack and Vurve's clone of it when I started mixing.
Also have been trying to make a watermelon matcha cake but again, that watermelon just comes out as jolly ranchers.
Either Jolly Ranchers/Bubblicious/Sour Watermelon Gummies with the sour licked off, or you can't taste it. I know.
Watermelon Matcha Cake sounds like quite a challenging profile. I have so many questions. I don't know how watermelon-forward that is supposed to be but have you tried using FA Red Summer and just cranking that shit up to like 5 or 6%? What are you using for the Matcha? What about the cake?
My last attempt was FLV watermelon and MB Big Watermelon. I never used MB before so figured I'd give it a shot.
The matcha, FLV Eisai Tea, seems to work decently.
JF Yellow Cake, well for the cake.
It is a tough profile but I saw a picture of it and I'm like, ok, I need to try something with that.
Anyone have any notes on WF yellow watermelon? I'm not even sure what a yellow watermelon is supposed to taste like to start with
I'm not sure what a yellow watermelon is either, but I really like this flavor... I wouldn't use it as the only WM in a recipe as it's like the "high floral like notes" in a natural WM, and it's kinda dry. If you really want to push another watermelon forward, 2.5% or less of this will do the trick.
i second this i have enjoyed the WF Yellow watermelon since i Sfted it, also it goes great with FLV Wild Melon ... Its like u/Joel0l75 Said natural watermelon with some floral like notes but for me it also has some of the melon pulpyness that you would get from a real melon which helps it come off as more authentic
I've so wanted to like the watermelons I've tried, TPA and WF candy ones taste more like soap to me, the non-candy TPA/FA/CAP are varied watermelon tasting cucumber, went out on a limb and got some FLV Wild Melon and while I like it alone I haven't been able to give it any 'punch' and it seems to just sit beside a mix instead of in it even with a little dragon fruit and a bunch of time... won't even go into INW Melon.
Even WF Sweet and Sour Purple Drink gives me a strong soapy (watermelon candy, I guess) with a grape aftertaste. Not sure what everyone who doesn't get 'soapy' tastes, though like strawberry I wish I got it too xD
Maybe one day I'll be both able to spare a few bucks and they will be in stock when I order refills, and get to try the MB Big and FLV watermelons. Maybe. Still chasing a (now 2 year) whale of "3 melons plus grapefruit", which is honeydew forward in an oddly not gross way.
I have la watermelon and MB big watermelon ,vso watermelon. And haven't played with them yet..im a loner no one wants to play... Maybe because I run with scissors... I'll try them today.. someone took my scissors..
deff interested in the VSO watermelon please do give an update <3
Just got into DIY end of last month and gathered all the flavors for Wayne's Water-Malone and I love it, reminds me of this juice from a local shop called Juicy Melons, I feel like that is coming from the FLV Wild Melon. If you havn't mixed it up give it a go it's great!
The only watermelon I ever had was soaked in Everclear. Oddly enough, I only remember the beginning...
When it comes to vapelyfe I can appreciate FLV Watermelon. 0.5% and it does its thing in a mix. Which is hang out in the background like a real watermelon would.
I just bought FW Watermelon to try the Watermelon Crack clone. I thought the original was good, but not super flavorful from what I remember, so I'm hoping this is better... I have about 7 or 8 other watermelons, & I've been wanting to come up with an apple melon kiwi blend, but I've been so hyper focused on trying to perfect a mango pineapple mix that I haven't even tried most of them yet... Sigh. Maybe this week's show will help to give me some non mango inspiration. ;)
Ooo watermelon is fantastic. Perfect for summer with it's powerful distinct flavor that can punch through any level of vapers tongue, just don't plan on switching to a different flavor on same coil after using watermelon. Oh and a request for maybe covering Cantaloupe flavors again? Not sure when you last covered it but only saw 1 thread for it. Thx you guys rock.
Vso Watermelon, & MB Big Watermelon are 2 of my absolute favorites, but I'm excited to see what other ones you guys talk about! also got in watermelon taffy the other day, & haven't had the chance to play with it yet, but definitely excited to try it. Thanks for all you guys do!
I’m so looking forward to this episode. I haven’t nailed any original watermelon recipes but have mixed Water Malone a lot. It’s good stuff. I have Cap double water melon but haven’t used it yet. Thinking about using it with MB American bubble gum for a water melon bubblicious mix. As always thank you Noted crew. Oh yeah that flavorah flavor pack is properly the best one. It would awesome to my meat beaters on that.
It really is the best one unless you're into tobaccos, all those great apples
ID10-T whats up brother. I’ve gotta tell you Stoned Alone is awesome. I followed you for awhile. The show is great and helped me out a bunch. I’m not new mixer but never dedicated much time. With the show and DIY community in general have restored my passion for vaping. Looking forward to the recommendations and make that bull city order. Shout out to Bull city also for that discount. Thanks again bro.
I have a few water melon concentrates FLV watermellon , Lorann watermelon and CAP sweet watermelon. I have never singlw flavor tested any of them. I have mixed Watermalone i really enjoyed this, its nice and light there is quite a bit of hype behind it. One of the first recpies I mixed was a flavor pack from Bullcity called Grab Apples By the Melons, by Exclusive Girl i like that slightly better them watermalone. Its more of a candy hi-chew type flavor.
Lol yeah man I definitely want to buy new flavors after watching but I’ve been pretty successful with my formula for picking the winners. For instance if Cheeba says i didn’t mind it I’m instantly wary cause he likes everything. Now if he’s says it’s scrumptious, Emily says I like this one it’s so bright and you have more positive than negatives it’s usually a winner. Now depending on how vile your comparison like shower curtains mixed with regurgitated breast milk I know to stay away.

I've been thinking of adding TFA Watermelon to this especially after reading your flavor notes on it and it's the only watermelon I own, but I believe it'd help lift up the other flavors of my recipe. Though I'm hesitant as I'm wondering if I may have too much going on already. I know I do if it was an MTL recipe, but i think I might just get by as a DL mix...
That looks like it would be really good without anything added to it
This week is one that I've been looking forward to. There are a lot of watermelons out there, so you guys reviews are important! Thank you! I've only used FA so far, now I have a few more I can some confidence in.
Based off what i have tried I can say
FLV wild melon, not a pure watermelon but awsome as a base and a great flavour
Lorann watermelon is a good candy watermelon
Inawera is interesting but it's more like the white part of the melon instead of the pink fleshy stuff, can also be perfumy to some
have not tried purilum, FLV or MB watermelon yet
but FA is the best realistic watermelon I have tried so far
I've only tried Inw watermelon, which I like, and MB big watermelon. I liked the flavour of MB big watermelon when I tested it on my hand but unfortunately I didn't get much of it when I vaped it =[ this happens to me often with strawberry.
looking forward to this week's episode
