Im VERY new to mixing and the ejuice calculator im using is asking if the flavor im using is pg or vg dominant. The ingredients are Glycerol, Ethanol, and water. So would that make this flavor PG or VG dominant?

"Glycerol" is another name for "glycerin", as in vegetable glycerin (VG).

What flavor is this you're talking about? Glycerol==VG, but if it contains a whole lot of ethanol and/or water, it may not be suitable for vaping.

Its a flavor from nicotine river, the flavor is lemon lime soda

I just checked the info on River Lemon Lime Soda. The specific gravity (density) of the flavor is 1.06, which means it's nearly 100% PG. VG is much denser.

Hope this helps!

Any flavor you get from any of the vendors recommended here will be PG-based unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Not sure if this is fact but the ethanol need to steep and evaporate the alcohol imo, it helps the flavor "meld" better. Ive noticed if it steeps for 2 weeks I have to remix less If anyone wants to check me on it either through personal or research backing I understand. This is just my experience

I don't know if the ethanol helps anything "meld". Some flavors have it simply because it is used in the extraction process and the final product still contains trace amounts.

In my experience when it steeps and evaporates the ethanol out of the flavoring it reduces that weird after taste you get. An example is rainbow drops flavor from wizard labs. Don't know the exact brand but I've either had to steep it or do a double boil and heat it to reduce the ethanol "taste" in it. For me the flavor changes and doesn't taste as "sharp" or "hot" its kind of hard to describe

[Edit] for vague vocabulary

If a flavor is VG based, it usually states that.

Flavors are normally PG dominant.I always put my flavors in as 100% PG in the flavor calculators.

This is kind of an interesting flavor you have, especially for being a newcomer to DIY.

As others have mentioned “Glycerol” is referring to Vegetable Glyciren.

Propylene Glycol is by far superior at holding flavor but, a while back it was a hot topic to find a way to have a 100% VG juice due to “cloud chasing” and more importantly, some (though mostly few to my understanding) are allergic to propylene glycol.

Thus was born the VG based flavoring. In order to accomplish this, Ethanol (a form of alcohol) was introduced/used to help hold the flavoring. The water is an interesting addition from what I’m familiar with though.

Neither the Ethanol nor the Water would I suggest actually vaping though. Vaping alcohol and water doesn’t sound great, right?

In order to use these flavors you should mix your juice like normal and at the end create a warm bath. Place your juice bottle in the hot bath for 30 minutes, shaking once half way through in order to evaporate off the alcohol (perhaps longer to evaporate more of the slower to evaporate water).

And your done, good to go. You now have 100% VG Juice (assuming your nicotine base is VG).

Side note, the flavor is definitely sub par in my experience. Not only does VG not hold flavor nearly as well as PG but you have also now done a quick fix style warm bath “steep” job, along with letting the juice “breathe” way longer than I would suggest in a warm water bath, losing even more of those precious aroma molecules.

Now I’m not saying you can’t make good flavors with these, I’m just suggesting it takes some pretty well rounded recipe design (IMO) and isn’t super beginner friendly.

Cheers!

Can confirm. I smoked vodka and got drunk off 6 hits from my vape.

Take the E-liquid flavor of your choice. I don't think you can vape the ethanol and water vape. Instead, you take nicotine ( though it is an addictive substance). But You can add little amount if you want to. You can make a 30ml that has a nicotine strength of 36ml. You should take PG and VG are 70% and 30% respectively, and 5% E-liquid flavour. As you are a beginner, I would like to suggest you follow this DIY mixing E-liquid guidelines.

It’s PG. If it’s VG it will tell you on the label AFAIK

Glycerol is synonymous with glycerin (USP grade VG is a little more specific, but you would't find technical grade glycerol in a food product.)

PG. Almost all flavors are PG if it's in VG it will often specifically say so.

P.s. if you want to make things easy for yourself buy premixed flavors aka one shots..all you need to do is add base and nicotine

Although it is easier to buy one shots you are totally limiting yourself to whatever one shot flavors are available. You might get lucky and find one that you like, but then again you might not. If you mix it yourself you are only limited to your imagination.

I have two ADV one shots. They are cheap and super easy to use.

My favourite is blue lush from chefs vapor which is a blue slushpuppy without the coolant. It's 20 GBP for 100ml and it's enough to make a LITER of liquid

Not sure why I'm getting disliked as it's a very good and effortless way to get into DIY. For many people the mixing and buying of tons of flavors etc is intimidating. I was worried id end up spending hundreds on tons of different flavors and fall into a mixing rabbit hole..i just want a cheap and easy way to get eliquid lol

Not sure why you’d be down voted because you have very valid points.

Mixing isn’t for everyone. It’s super easy, but I can see the attraction some might have to one shots.
