Never really been able to taste caramels on their own.
But they can however add something to a mix - Not sure how to describe it, but FA Carmel(Caramel) can add an entirely new dimension to ice cream mixes - and VT or FW Salted Caramel helps with that "chewiness" in licorice recipes.
Man, caramel works so well in so many applications. That becomes doubly true when you consider butterscotch as caramel.
To that end, my most recent caramel obsession has been WF caramel butter. Which I used in a recipe specifically for Rainbow Dragon.
For me, FW Salted Caramel is probably my favorite. It adds just the right balance of sweetness and caramel flavor, especially when you pair it up with FA Soho. If FW Butterscotch Ripple counts, then everyone knows you can't go wrong with Butt Rip. That one also has the nice spice note going to.
Now I'm thinking how Soho Time would be with a bit of ButtRip. Might have to try that.
Chicks dig a man with gold wrapped goodness in his hand. I’m a big Werthers fan. Still haven’t replicated that geriatric treat in eliquid form.
I'm gonna get shit because of the percentages and I already posted it in a dump a few days ago but this has been my adv for the better part of a decade. It was the second flavor I ever mixed and it was exactly what I was looking for. No sweeteners, let it steep at least 3 days, gets better as it steeps.
Creme Bearlee
TFA Caramel Candy - 12%
TFA Vanilla Custard - 14%
TFA Brown Sugar - 3%
TFA Toasted Marshmallow - 1%
Love caramel!
I've been after a good Stroopwafel since the day i started DIY-ing.
As most of you might now, i'm Dutch so a stroopwafel is something i've been eating for years.
One of my ADV's back when i still bought commercial juice, was Charlie Noble's Stroopwafel. It's a very good Stroopwafel so i wanted to clone it. Waffles are the easy part, but the rich, thicc goo-y inside is what makes the difference between an good stroopwafel and a great stroopwafel imo. So i've been buying and testing all sorts of caramels and butterscotch flavors to see what i like the best for the stroopwafel filling.
First, some of my notes;
TFA Caramel Original
My first caramel i've ever got. Still love it and use it quite a lot. It's a pretty heavy caramel with brown sugar notes, leaning towards butterscotch in that sense. Good as a solo caramel note, but if you want a full on front caramel note, you need to add something extra to it. 2-3% works best for me.
WF Caramel Butter
It's buttery, just like the name suggests. It's not heavy, more light but not creamy. More used as an accent or too lighten up the TFA OG Caramel. 1-2%
TFA Caramel Candy
Too be honest, i'v only used this once. It's really candy-like, not really in to that. Can work with nuts maybe, i should try to mix some hazelnut or other nuts with this one. On the to do list.
VTA Scorched Caramel
Like (almost) burnt caramel, or the toplayer of crème brûlée. Not really that sweet. Could work with tabacco's? RY4's? Not sure what to do with it yet.
Butterscotches don't really count here imo, but i do like to add them to the TFA Caramel Original. FW Butt Rip is great, creamy, ice-cream-y, delicious butterscotch. FA Butterscotch and FLV Butterscotch are both fine. Nothing too special about them, just good butterscotch flavors.
Right, recipe time yeah?
First up, Thicc chocolate caramel cake http://tjek.nu/r/zx7N
|Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |FW|Butterscotch Ripple |3| |TFA|Caramel Original|2| |TFA |Double Chocolate (Clear)|3| |TFA|Vanilla Custard II|3| |JF|Yellow Cake|2|
Decadent as hell, thick chewy caramel chocolate cake.
If you need to watch your weight but also want to treat yo self, mix this bad boy up.
Steep time, give it 5 days minimum. Best after 7.
As said before, i've been trying to clone the Charlie Noble Stroopwafel for a while now. I have over 30 recipe variations, and i feel like i have made a decent clone, but now i want more. The commercial juice is fine, but this is DIY, i can make it better.
I had one version that was pretty much 99% the same as the Charlie Noble's, but i sort of forgot which version that was.. (i need to get better at taking notes, not just mental notes) I believe it was this version;
Charlie Noble Stroopwafel clone (no link to ELR, still private for the big bad outside world ;-)
|Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |TFA|Brown Sugar|1| |TFA |Caramel Original |2| |CAP|Cinnamon Danish Swirl|3| |TFA|Graham Cracker Clear|2| |CAP|Sugar Cookie V1|3| |TFA|Waffle (Belgium)|3| |CAP|Waffle|3| |CAP|Super Sweet |1|
Steep time, 7 days.
Lots of flavor, lots of super sweet. It's a straight up clone of a commercial juice, so don't shoot me. If i recall correctly, this was the one that was almost 1:1 with my bottle of Charlie Noble.

Now to make it better, this is still WIP so bear with me and don't steal it and call it your own lol
Stroopwafel V3.0 (i'm actually on V3.5 now, but it's going down hill as i start to experiment with weird shit, this is one of the better ones)
|Co.|Flavor|%| |:-|:-|:-| |TFA|Brown Sugar|0.75| |FW|Butterscotch Ripple|1.5| |TFA|Caramel Original |2| |CAP|Cinnamon Danish Swirl |2.5| |TFA|Graham Cracker Clear |1.25| |CAP|Sugar Cookie V1 |1.75| |TFA|Waffle (Belgium)|2| |CAP|Waffle|2.5|
Steep time 7 days.
As you can tell, lower % overall and added FW Butt Rip for that more creamy caramel note.
I've also tried version with all the flavors in my notes above, and it can work but it's not really improving much. Also made a version with LB Belgian Waffle in stead of RFA Waffle Belgium, works fine as well. Just got MB Classic Belgian Waffle in, so i need to make a testbatch with that as well. I'll keep on tweaking it untill i'm 100% content, but that might never happen. Either way, enjoy the mixes and happy vaping!
I'm excited to see what you guys think of FW Salted Caramel. I'm always floating between that or VT Salted Caramel.
Sadly I grown tired of FA Carmel.
I put this together using only TFA flavors and have to say it definitely came out well for me. The caramel plays a support role here as i preferred the more toasty edge that the butterscotch gives:
TFA Butterscotch 7%
TFA Vanilla Custard 3%
TFA Banana 3%
TFA Caramel 2%
TFA DX Sweet Cream 2%
I call this one Creamy Delights. Give it a shot and tell me what you think 👍
Was there a non-cola soda episode recently? If not, can we add one? It'd be nice to be able to find a replacement for FLV Citrus Soda.
Like a ginger ale or club soda? Even a tonic water?
Sure, if you take in all the Lemon-Lime Sodas, Citrus Sodas, Mountain Dew types, there are a few choices out there, enough to make an FOTW out of it
I have only FW Butterscotch Ripple, does that count as a caramel? Live mixed a nice thing with that with u/humanpuck once (recipe is not public, Puck?). Need to mix that up again, one of these days.
You mean Butt Custard...Now?
I think it's like, all butterscotches are caramels but not all caramels are butterscotches. The main difference is supposed to be brown sugar (butterscotch) vs white sugar (caramel), which is funny because a lot of our caramel flavors for vaping come across tasting more like brown sugar than caramel, or as much like brown sugar, but not like butterscotch because they lack that buttery flavor that can also be part of caramel but is a must in butterscotch.
Emily the nikkon lady reviewed this caramel like 3 years ago and I must say it works for me in every application
https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY_eJuice/comments/5mb74f/wf_caramel_butter
WF Caramel Butter I buy by the ounce .I use it in anything that requires a caramel. I sub, I have no shame. It's just so Buttery.
I have eaten werthers candy in Japan but I have learned recipies change by region . I saved a werthers recipe but sadly I never had a chance to mix it. Since I can't find it I must assume at some time I just said fuck it. I don't have the ingredients, why keep it around?
It looked really good too. I just couldn't mix it at the time.
I often wonder how different werthers is in the Europe, Asia, middle east , both americas as far as taste

I checked out a number of caramels while developing my ADV (http://tjek.nu/r/yRAJ) and finally settled on FA Caramel. For this recipe, I wanted a more pronounced caramel flavor to compliment the vanilla profile. The butterscotch/caramel combination provides more of a syrupy texture, rather than a hard crack butterscotch.
This is another one that I am vaping right now after a 3 day steep. I’m very happy with it. I want to try a version 2 with ediblemalfunction’s Custard Now to see how it compares.
INW Custard - 4%
FA Caramel - 2.5%
FW Hazelnut - 3.5%
VTA Sweet Cream - 1.5%
I’m less interested in the FA Caramel than the use of VT Sweet Cream in a custard like that, that seems like a wonderful idea, the kind that makes me whack myself in the head for not having thought of it already
I just started using that caramel this week so I’m trying to fit it in wherever I can. I have two or three more mixes to do with it in the next few days.
The Sweet Cream is super smooth. I didn’t like the way it smelled straight out of the flavor bottle, but it adds a great creaminess to the mix.
The INW Custard is the only custard that I have. I still don’t know how I feel about custards because 1.) I find them to be bland by themselves and 2.) I have never actually tried a real custard before so I’m not sure what to compare it to.
Edit: I plan on using the Sweet Cream with SoHo. I have a couple of other ideas to toss in with it and will probably move that mix to the top of the list.
Weirdly enough, I only have one or two of these flavors, one is Milk Chocolate, and the bottle leaked all over the place before I got the package (so I know it smells good), and I have it wrapped in a bad behind my flavor shelf. But I'm more of a desert person, custards, creams, nuts, tobaccos, etc. FLV takes the cake with some of their flavors, I really need to mix up my own recipes because other people's are either great or so-so, and you guys always have good little tid-bits of information.
this just gave me an idea for a caramelized nut cookie ice cream sandwich or something like that.
EDIT: Id10-t, this is Almi'zi, just know that I know.
I'm going to have to figure out how I can get one of those blacked out screens that hides the randomizer like /u/foment_life had last night
I didn't know how bad the video was at that point, I'm sorry!
I have been using the FA Carmel and it has to be my favorite so far.
It is pretty versatile, it works well in all different kinds of mixes where a caramel note would be desired.
I have used it in tobaccos, desserts, and custards.
Before I started using the FA Carmel, I was using TPA Caramel and TPA Caramel Candy, but I don't think either is a particularly great caramel.
I have a hard time distinguishing between caramel and toffee.. Is it just one is hard and one is soft? But then what is butterscotch? I’m so confused. Edited to add; dulce de Leche? Where does that fit in?
Caramel is made from white sugar and cream or milk (but somtimes butter as well). Butterscotch is made from brown sugar and butter (but sometimes has cream). Toffee is sugar and butter (never cream or milk) and is heated to a higher temperature than caramel, which makes it crunchy and changes the flavor.
Wonderful! I bet you had to know that for noted. Or do you also cook?
I feel like my dad is writing these titles.
Something I started working on recently that I need to find a touch of cream to go with:
FA Caramel - 1.2%
FA Almond - 1.1%
FA Cookie - 1.0%
FA Meringue- 1%
FA Madagascar Vanilla - 0.8%
Ooh... I'd do 0.5% FA Cream Fresh in that mix (1% max but I'm afraid it would wipe out a lot of those flavors when they are all around 1%).
I have FA Cream Fresh, but haven’t had a chance to SFT it since I’ve been too distracted with chasing my white whale clone. It has taken the steam out of my mixing so I’ve put the clone to the side.
I’m using another new flavor called VTA Sweet Cream in another mix I put on here and like it. I’ll try the FA Cream in this one since it is also made by FA like the rest of the ingredients.
My top three:
WF Caramel Popcorn and Peanuts
WF Caramel Butter
JF Dulce Dr Leche
This is delicious and uses all of them:

>WF Caramel Butter
Look at my post above. You are now my friend
I've been using FA Carmel (caramel) as its the only carmel flavor i own. It seems to be pretty versatile overall, and has gone well with most everything ive tossed it into so far. After browsing through the comments on here, i think ill add fw salted carmel to the list of flavors to pick up on the next order.
Hey! Now I totally have a reason to share my now 2 year old recipe, Nut Roll
Has anyone else tried Solub Arome Caramel? I don't think it's very accurate to caramel, but it's bloody good. It can have a bit of a coconut/ almondy note, but I taste coconut in a lot of things that other people don't. So maybe that's just me. Its not really caramel, but found it a bit hard to pin down exactly what it is. It reminds me a lot of a cake my mum used to make. You pour syrup on it and it soaks into the cake. It's like that syrup. It's fuller flavoured and richer than FW Butterscotch Ripple, I tested them side by side at 5% each. I've only SF tested it so far. Can't wait to try it in some mixes.
Got a few different caramels. I think my favorite is FW salted caramel.
The only caramel flavors I have are TFA Caramel, TFA Caramel Candy, and FW Caramel Cinnamon Roll. I used none of these in this recipe, but isn't Brown Sugar and Butterscotch caramels? Maybe even Dulce de Leche? If not :( then I'd say TFA Caramel Candy is my fav... ~~and can someone answer this question? What's the difference between TFA Caramel and TFA Caramel Original? I used to think they were the same, but I ordered flavs from River Supply last night and saw both of them listed.~~ I read Apexifieds stickey... See you all tonight!

PART 1:
Noted Ep. 155: CARAMEL (ft. Folkart)
(Aired 16th June 2020)
(Flavours ranked from worst to first by ID10-T)
ID10-T has never had a recipe he's enjoyed where caramel is a main note, except for RY4/ tobacco mixes. Trying the flavours this week, Folkart found there's no really prominent caramel flavours, they're more something you add to a main note.
TFA Caramel Cappuccino: Extremely potent. Tested 1 drop in 20ml and it was still powerful in flavour. Authentic milky cappuccino with a sweet caramel. Tiny hints of skunk spray, raw meat and onion juice. The main issue is it's extreme potency. 6.44
SC Caramel Cream Puff: Very burnt. Like how burnt microwave popcorn smells. The bakery element is more like FLV Crunch Cereal, which tastes like fried mushroom. No cream. Tested at 1%. Pretty potent. 9.40
SC Caramel: Burnt. Like how burnt microwave caramel popcorn smells. Tested at 1%. Pretty potent. 10.59
SC Caramel Mocha: Again, burnt popcorn. Skunky. Has some sweet caramel and cocoa but are mostly hidden by the off notes. Also an odd, sour bakery note, like a moldy biscuit. Nauseating. Tested at 1%. Pretty potent. 11.19
SC Caramel Candy: Burnt popcorn. Has some sweet caramel, but mostly burnt and has skunk spray note. Not sweet enough to be a candy. 12.23
WF Milk Caramel Candy: Very milky, funky, nauseating. Has a caramel or brown sugar note with a rich, buttery, milky finish. But it's covered by a barf, blue cheese type off note. Caramel is light, needs to be deeper. 13.19
HC (Health Cabin) Caramel: Brown sugar with cherry. Has the sharp, chemical edge present in some brown sugar flavours, like TFA Brown Sugar before it steeps. Has a plastic-y off note isn't in many bright, red cherry candy flavours. It's overly fruity. It's very sweet. Folkart got cotton candy with some fruitiness. 14.54
CAP Caramel V2: Tastes like maple with cherry. No plastic cherry off note. Just an odd cherry-like fruitiness. Not unpleasant, but strange. Could be used in a maple Old Fashioned cocktail recipe? 16.15
HC (Health Cabin) Caramel Butter: ID10-T thought it did taste like caramel and butter. But the butter is a bit like fake, movie theatre type butter with a bit of sourness. Folkart got a buttery, sweet, light coconut. Very buttery with a slight caramel note. ID10-T tested at 2%. Folkart tested at 3%. 17.53
HC (Health Cabin) Salted Caramel: The actual concentrate is black and when mixed, even at 1%, the tester is very dark. Like the colour of dark chocolate. Of all the salted caramels tried this week this was the only one that was actually salty, in the same way FLV Beer Nuts. But it mostly tastes like hot metal, like leaving a pan on the stove. Not very sweet. Doesn't taste anything like caramel. Tested at 1%. 1% could be too high? There are some HC flavours that are great at 0.25-0.5% but above that they are really bad. 19.40
MB Melty Caramel: (Cheeba and Emily would have ranked it higher, maybe around the middle or just above the middle. Although it didn't live up to the hype) ID10-T got a butiric note, but he is sensitive to it. It wasn't full on vomit. More of a sour undercurrent below the sweetness. Does taste like caramel. Not a brown sugar like some others. Not very melty, a bit dry and powdery up front. Creaminess comes in more on the finish. Nice darkness. Not thin or astringent like a caramel candy. More of a soft crack caramel. Folkart got a plastic off note. 21.17
VT Caramel Mocha: If you enjoy coffee vapes you may love this flavour. The caramel is great. Really rich, sweet, sticky. Just about perfect. The mocha didn't have a lot of chocolate. The coffee had just a little hint of a skunky, burnt popcorn off note. Some people aren't sensitive to those off notes, so would likely really like this flavour. 23.04
INW Caramel: The concentrate is very dark and oddly thick. Harsh, thin and astringent. Tastes very burnt. Has a little bit if a liqueur note. Mostly just tastes burnt. Pretty sweet. No dairy. More like scorched sugar than caramel. Tested at 1%. Flavour was pretty light. Not particularly potent. 25.10
TFA Caramel: (Should probably be ranked lower) like smoked vanilla than caramel. Not very sweet. A lot of vanilla. Very smokey tasting. Petty thin, a little astringent. Folkart got a bit of a sour milk note. 27.31
CAP Caramel: Not unpleasant, but not caramel. Just tastes like maple syrup. Kind of thin, but has a bit more body than FA Maple Syrup. 29.08
FA Maple Syrup is probably the most free of off notes of the maple syrups, but it's thin.
TFA Caramel Original: (Should be ranked higher) Very rich, nice darkness, sweet. Not the thickest caramel, but dies have some substance to it. Rich caramel sauce with butter and cream, nice hint of vanilla. Tastes really good. Fairly prominent maple note, but maybe because 3% was too high? Tested at 3% 30.22
TFA Caramel Original DX: Not as thick or rich as TFA Caramel Original. No butiric. 31.27
TFA Dulce de Leche: Pretty good. ID10-T gets a bit of a maple note, which probably wouldn't show up in a mix. Especially at lower %s. Like a caramel butter. Very buttery, creamy, rich. Definite dairy, milky, cream to the base. Fairly mild, light flavour overall so better used as an accent. Use to add some rich, buttery, creamy sweetness. Tested at 1.5%, 2%. Use around 1.5%. Gets plastic-y if used too high. 34.51
DEL Caramel: Delightfully mediocre. But with all the disappointing caramels that's not a bad thing. A little thin, not particularly rich. A little astringent. But has a pretty good caramel flavour. Would benefit from the addition of a cream or butter, something to thicken it. Maybe a sweet cream like CAP Sweet Cream or TFA Bavarian Cream would work well. Use around 5%. 36.17
CC (Chefs Choice) Salted Caramel: (Emily would have ranked it lower) Not actually salted. Thin, a bit dry. Lighter type of caramel, like undercooked caramel. Pretty light in flavour. Could use to give a caramel top note. More of a accent. Wouldn't use as a main note as not bold enough. Or could use as a sweetener. 37.58
FW Caramel Candy: Hard crack caramel candy. A slightly overcooked Werthers. Slight acrid, burnt sugar note and a little astringent. Can be used to darken up or sweeten other caramels. Very sweet. Pretty potent for FW. Use up to around 2%. At 1% is a little light on flavour, but has no off notes. Besides being a little over cooked. At 4% it gets weird. 39.19
TFA Caramel Candy: (Folkart would have ranked it lower) Has a slight hint of an odd woody spiciness. Isn't as full as FW Caramel Candy. But TFA isn't overcooked. Bright. Light in flavour. Some candy butteriness. Noticeable vanilla note. 41.26
FA Caramel: Very useful. But not a great caramel. Halfway between a caramel and brown sugar. Too thin for a caramel. Buttery, whilst still being thin. Dry, not very smooth. Really good flavour. Works really well as a dark sweetener. Pretty sweet. Folkart tought it was more of a dark, brown sugar and would pair well with apple. 43.00
FLV Caramel: Great ingredient, terrible caramel. Thin. Mostly tastes like brown sugar. But a perfect, authentic brown sugar. Much cleaner than TFA Brown Sugar Extra, which has a slight chemical/ artificial taste. Use for brown sugar or dark sweetness. If Emily needs dark sweetness it's the first thing she'd reach for. Very sweet. No off notes, besides not being caramel. 44.35
VT Salted Caramel: Not salted but good. Much darker caramel than a lot of the others discussed this week. Very dark, without being burnt. So dark is almost smokey. A very full flavour. Moderately rich, almost creamy feel. Would be good added to a caramel butter or Dulce de Leche. Get the rich creaminess from the caramel butter/ Dulce de Leche and the darkness from VT. Folkart tested at 2%, then at 4%. Got even better at 4%, thicker. 46.36
VT Scorched Caramel: Has a smokey, scorched sugar flavour. Sweet but dry dark caramel. Would be amazing in a tobacco mix. Would be perfect in a creme brulee for the slightly burnt, scorched sugar. Tested at 1% and 2%. Folkart tested it at 1% and thought that was a good spot for him. Emily Tested at 2%, didn't like it, but thought it might work around 0.5% as an accent in a mix. 48.45
HS Caramel Toffee: (Not part of rankings) Very dark, similar level of darkness as VT Scorched Caramel. Really good, rich caramel note. A slight burnt flavour. Not very sweet. 50.53
HS Caramel: Caramel cream. A dark caramel on top of a cream. Some separation between caramel and cream. Caramel a bit dry. The cream finish is sweet and smooth. Neutral cream, not particularly milky or buttery. Pretty tasty. 52.07
VT Creme Caramel: (Would be ranked somewhere around the middle) The cream is quite thin. Caramel is a little astringent, brown sugar off note. Very light, milky caramel. Not that rich. Not very sweet. Underwhelming. 53.10
PART 2:
LA Caramel: A very nice caramel. Lovely richness. A little brown sugary. Nice dark sweetness. No sharp astringency. Not very nuanced. Like a Wherthers candy in flavour, but with a soft texture. Good caramel to build around if you want a caramel main note. 54.17
WF Caramel Rice Crispy Treat: Really delicious. Can vape solo, although could get a bit boring. It can crank it up, around 6%, and customise it with the addition of 1-2 other flavours. Easy to have fun with. Could add chocolate, bakeries. Nice, sticky caramel. The rice crispy treat is subtle and comes across more as hint of cereal or bakery. Mostly a sweet, buttery, caramel, marshmallow. Has a lot of depth. 55.45
WF Caramel Butter: Nice, rich, light, milky caramel. Really delicious, sweet. Works in almost any application you need a caramel for. Probably wouldn't work as a hard crack caramel as it's pretty creamy. Caramel is pretty light, like it's not been cooked for quite long enough. But still rich. Almost more like a butterscotch than a caramel as definitely buttery. Although not as dark as butterscotch. Really good butteriness, not artificial movie theatre butter. Probably wouldn't work with raw fruit or anywhere butter would be of of place. But would work in any bakeries where butter would fit. Shines in bakeries. 57.37
SA Caramel Buerre: Delicious. Lighter caramel, like WF Caramel Butter. Rich, buttery, decadent. A bit richer, deeper and a little darker than WF. But it's tricky for a lot of people to find. 59.54
FW Salted Caramel: Far from perfect, but still beats the others. It's not salted. Rich, a little creamy and buttery. Not super thick. Could do with being thicker for a caramel sauce. Smooth. Has a little vague, intermittent nuttiness where it should be sweeter. It's not a sweet as a caramel should be. But easy to fix with sweeter flavours or sweeteners. The lack of sweetness could be an advantage in something like tobaccos or alcohol mixes. It's easy to use. Even a small amount will make a big difference to a mix, but it can also be pushed really high if you want more caramel up front. But needs filling in so it doesn't taste so thin. versatile. Can use with fruits, bakeries etc. It's not buttery enough to be a issue with raw fruits. Really nice mouthfeel, probably the best of all the flavours this week. Tested up to 6%. No off notes. 1.01.17
Now this flavor pack is stacked nukka.
It kinda still is when you look at what's in there, but see edit. I had accidentally listed two packs when it was only supposed to be one.

I received FA Caramel with my last order and did not had a chance to try it yet. Is there any must try recipe you can think of that I should do? So far I only thought of pairing it with TFA/TPA Vanilla Swirl for a Caramel Sundae
Ry4 double
I keep hearing good things about WF Caramel Butter but it was out of stock the last time I ordered from Bullcity. Then the day that my order shipped I got an email from them saying it was back in stock. So hopefully I can get it on my next order.
Edit: Originally put FW.
You won!
Wow, that's fantastic! Do I need to send you my address then?
I have a bunch of caramel but mainly use 3: flv caramel for brown sugar, TFA caramel original because a think it's the best warm and dark and kinda melty....to me at least and the last one it's my new favorite: vta salted caramel, to me it's like fw salted caramel but better.
