For the people wondering about the color of FA Apple Pie
submitted over 5 years ago by Ginsuh

So I had ordered a bottle of FA Apple Pie a few weeks ago. It’s a key ingredient in one of my every day vapes. I had been using TPA Apple Pie instead tho, because I kept forgetting to add FA Apple Pie to my carts. Anyway, when I got FA AP in, finally, it was black. Or damn near black. Comparable to O’s Cookie or chocolate glazed donut. Did some research, didn’t find much. Some said it was normal. Some said it wasn’t. So I contacted the site where I purchased it. They said they would send me a bottle from a different batch for comparison. It came in today. I’ll post a picture below of both bottles. The difference is night and day. The smell on the lighter colored bottle is also a bit sharper and the tase is more pronounced. I’m not the best at writing, sorry. If you have any other questions let me know.

Thanks for sharing! I'm curious how long it will take for the new one to become as dark as the...well...the dark one?

I will put 5mls in a separate bottle and I’ll report back in when it darkens up

Thank you. Do both bottles have different expiration dates?

Yes. They’re completely different batches but only purchased a week or two apart. Same place as well.

I bought mine Jan 2018 from Nicotine River..... It's just a tiny bit darker than your new one, and that is taking into account that I held it up next to your photo. It aged well for me, anyway.

I’m thinking it could just be a manufacturer flaw. Especially if yours is a year old and closer to my new bottle.

Sometimes when I see stuff like this I wonder if it's the concentrate settling in like 55 gal drums or whatever.

Some companies literally have drums that large and maybe when they get to the bottom, some ingredients have settled making it darker and perhaps some oxidation?

I believe I've read these large drum systems often use nitrogen pumps to keep the product inside from oxidizing, but who knows if everyone uses them.

It is weird. Especially when he bought from the same company just a week or two apart

This is why I prefer original bottles, most companies rebottle flavours because they buy them in gallons for profit, when they rebottle them they add the expire date the day they rebottle, most of the flavors have already expired, some of them have expired for years. I have an original FA apple pie with almost 4 years and it’s not even close to the dark one you showed. Another concern is where do they store the flavors.
