If you are serious about quitting, you are gonna wanna see how much you use now and buy according to that for a few months.
However, progressively lower the nic content from what you are using. Aim to lower it as consistently as possible (each bottle is lower than the last) until you reach a good, lower nic.
This will help reduce the chance of you picking up a stick for the headrush since you will have leaned yourself off the feeling.
I use 50mg now probably gonna lower it to 35 when I start doing diy and then just slowly vape less and use lower nic as time goes on.
I just wanna know how much of everything I should buy to make sure I’m stocked up for awhile on flavors and nic
Flavors aren't going away
Drop down to 3mg. You won’t notice the difference. When I started mixing I went from 50mg down to 3mg immediately.
i disagree with this, you have to find your sweet spot, i started with 5mg i sucked that thing harder than an alter boy sucks a preists d... at sunday school, and still went and bought a pack of analogs, i doubled it to 10mg that hit the spot...yours might be 3mg might be 5mg might be 25mg...once you find it then start decreasing your mg, this would be whatever works, i set mine for every 3 months, im down to 6mg but i also forget to take it with me when i go out sometimes...i feel thats a good sign, you might want to decrease it each time you mix...whatever works but i would recomend a routine/schedule to stick to
Have you tried making ejuice before? If not whatever ejuice you are vaping search for a clone or similar recipe and order those flavors first in 15ml bottles to start. If you know you will want to DIY ejuice and depending on how much PG and VG you use you can buy both of those in 1 gallon containers and buy your nic in the same size. I don't vape nic so I don't own any but when I first started mixing I bought 15ml flavors (and I still do since I don't vape much) and I bought VG and PG in 500ml bottles. I bought my stuff last year all by October but recently (as of this month) I wanted to get back into mixing (I stopped because I mixed a bunch of stuff and I was using that) so I bought three more flavors to try (for a summer recipe) and 1 gallon on VG (because my VG was getting used more than my PG).
That is what I could reccomend based on what you said. If you know you will be mixing big bottles of ejuice then buy bigger bottles of flavors. Myself I only mix small bottles of 15ml and test recipes in 10ml batches. I have some 30ml bottles but the only ejuice I have in one is my CBD which I made using isolate.
Honestly if your thinking about quitting. Don’t get into diy. There’s too much to enjoy and explore if you’re the curious type. Otherwise there’s some sound advice others have replied with already to help you get through.
Ah, I’m torn. If your goal is to quit just quit before getting into this any deeper. Otherwise I say welcome there’s so much to discover.
If you're at all tech minded or just curious don't get into DIY, big deep dark hole 🤪 gave up years ago, vape far more than I ever smoked! Still love it though, becomes a hobby more than an addiction. If you just want to give up then do it, if you want a hobby that also helps stop smoking then DIY is the way to go. What's with this September thing? American I suppose, in UK except for a few silly laws everyone ignores anyway (2 ml tanks and 20 mg limit on nic) vaping is pretty much encouraged! Vape don't smoke 😷💕
There’s no other choice
He's saying this is a hole you may not want to climb into. Nic is the main concern for americans because it'll be taxed soon. Rebuildables you will want to consider after PMTA
If I’d have stocked up when I first started vaping I’d have a ton of juice I’d never use because my tastes changed the further away I got from cigarettes. Stock up on plain VG/PG and nicotine and leave the lots of flavours until you know what you really like. But if your planning on giving this up too then buy ready made juice and just keep adding the same flavour without nicotine until you’re off that too. Good luck
Hey;)). You‘ll want to stock up on hardware and nicotine. All hardware will be taken off the market in September due to PMTA, including stock coils. And nicotine is awaiting a tax that will put it over $3000 per liter of 100mg/ml.
You posted having Smok devices. Those are known to not be very durable. And if you’re looking to vape for a few years, you’re going to need to get RDAs and RTAs and learn to build coils. There‘s actually no way around that. Do some research into good, sturdy devices, like the Aegis line, for example. No pods or pod mods. September will be here in a jiffy.
As already stated, flavors are for the food industry and PG/VG are also used in diverse industries. They will remain available. Good luck.
Have you thought about what you’re going to make? Have you looked at any recipes that interest you? If I were you I would choose a few highly rated recipes and start from there. Just buy the flavours for those to begin with. Or maybe one shots would be a good option if you don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of mixing?
If you want to make your own recipes have you done any research into flavours? Don’t go in blind and buy them cos the name looks good. Not all strawberry flavours for example are created equally. There are plenty of bad flavours about. It gets a bit more complex when you come to mixing them with one another. 99% of them can’t really be used alone, I think you’d be disappointed with the results.
If you’re not sure what you’re planning on making what sort of flavours do you like? What commercial liquids do you use currently? Maybe people could give you some recommendations on recipes or one shots etc based on that?
Once you have decided on what you’re going to make I would buy small bottles of those flavours in case you don’t like those recipes. Taste is very subjective. Someone might be raving about a mix but you might hate it. You could end up wasting money. When you find something you like then you could buy bigger bottles.
Also it’s a lot easier and quicker to mix using a scale, rather than syringes. You can get scales pretty cheap on amazon that would do the job. Just has to go down to 0.00g.
Also you may find it tricky if you’re using a pod exclusively. It might be useful to get an RDA or something that doesn’t take pricey pre-made coils just to test juices on. You might make something you hate, pretty common at the start while you’re working out what you like, and that may be the end of an expensive coil. Could work out very costly.
I hope some of that is useful and makes sense!
If you are in the US, after September 9 you probably will not be able to buy pods and coils. Since it's a SMOK device, they don't have the best reputation, but if you like it I'd recommend getting a few as backups, along with the RBA. Otherwise get a different device that uses rebuildable coils from a company that has better quality control.
OMG am I the only one who loves her Smok and has never ever had problems with it? My first lasted for 3 years until I dropped it on concrete and broke the bottom off of it. Duct tape worked fine until I ordered a new one. LOL What do I buy next that's simple to use like my Species and how easy are rebuilding coils?
Winding coils is super easy. Just watch some YouTube videos. Get yourself a good RTA, there are many around. Read reviews, watch reviews, find one that fits your vaping style. And as far as Smok mods go, it may seem like a good device if you haven't used anything else to compare it to. To me it's worth it to spend a some extra money to get something that's just light years better. My favorites have DNA chips.
Can you toss out some names for me? I'll go review them, but I don't know where to start. That's all new to me. The Smok I have is just so super simple. I don't need to fiddle around adjusting this or that. You know, simple things for simple minds or you can't teach an old dog new tricks. LOL
