Welcome!
If you're new to the sub because of the NY ban, welcome! We'd be happy to help you on your way to mixing freedom. We've been seeing an uptick in straightforward questions, and we'd like to try and compile all the pertinent information for those who need it. Our goal is to reduce the number of posts we're seeing asking the same simple questions about the current state of affairs in NY.
The fact of the matter is that right now, pretty much everything is as it was - there are vendors who will ship you all the supplies you need (for now) and there are also retail locations that stock most of these things. So don't despair - right now is actually a good time to be getting into DIY!

Where to get nicotine
Because of reddit's rules, we can't link you to any place where you can get nicotine directly. Please don't directly link to websites that offer nicotine for sale here. With that said, here is a list of reliable vendors that you can easily find with your favorite search engine.
Where to get supplies
Here is a list of reliable vendors for all manner of DIY supplies.
Your first order
First, read this overview of the supplies you'll need to start mixing. From there you should be able to put together a shopping list which will include some equipment and some consumables. For flavors, check this set of recommended first order flavors.
Questions
If you have any questions specifically about New York - physical stores that sell supplies, which online vendors are shipping there, or anything else that only someone from NY would know, please comment on this post rather than creating a new one. All of us on the outside are eager to assist, but the number of posts asking the same questions makes it more useful for people searching "NY ban" to find the answers they are looking for in one thread.
Not all hope is lost. That Nazi Whitmer got shot down. Michigan is back in business now.
Ah you're one of those people.
So.. can anyone list nic vendors that will ship to New York currently? I just spent an hour adding items to my cart with riversupply only to find out they won't ship..
Edit: River Supply does ship to NY but they use FedEx for their nic shipments and they don't deliver to a PO box. So I guess can anyone recommend a nic vendor that doesn't use FedEx? Lol
Tried to buy flavoring from Liquid barn and due to me being in New York they would not fufill my order for DIY. Fuck
Also, this is directly from Liquid Barn Support - Unfortunately all flavors that come from an eLiquid company can not be sold and starting July 1st we can no longer send any of our products to NY.
Based on what I'm reading on the CASAA website, that wording is not present in the law that was passed. Either Liquid Barn is being excessively cautious, people are getting tripped up over the interpretation of wording, or there is language present on the bill that CASAA didn't elaborate on.
Did anyone figure out a place to buy?
Wow I did not think flavorings could be banned?
My local vape shop in New York said he thinks we can order online until july 1st, can anyone confirm this?
How long should nicotine be good in a refrigerator? Does it go bad quick?
I'm not sure about a refrigerator. I put mine in glass bottles with polyphonic caps and put them in the freezer. I'm working on a bottle that close to a year old now and it's still as clear as the day I put it in the freezer. I have seen post from people saying they have nic as old as three or four years stored in the freezer and it's still good.
I have a question someone might be able to answer. Are we as individual, non-business DIYers in other states allowed to send juice to people in NY? I don't know the regs on this.
I would say yes, as long as they are just sending it to you. But for example, where I live, if I was sent 150ml it would be confiscated because the law is up to 120ml is allowed to import
There's currently no Federal regulations being enforced, so USPS should be fine. Worst case scenario, it's confiscated, but they'd face no legal issues for receiving, and you're not a business operating in NY so they couldn't fine you for violating their business regulations.
So curious, is it still possible to order base u flsvored nic to NY to diy? Also any premixed flavors or will flsvors be effected bu the ban for July?
If so will i be able to still obtain nic, pg and vg to mix myself after July 1st and by flavors as i go ? Just curious as it says regardless of flavor so im kinda just wondering if theres any possibility or is vaping dead altogether.
Curious if any actions for the ban to be lifted too
Super newbie here
PG, VG and flavors aren't vaping products. Those can't be restricted.
Even if the ban were lifted, PMTA is happening in September
True i mean theoretically even if its a simple flavor we just have to wait for approval which i believe is expensive and takes a year?
With the ban/pmta is nic (freebase on unflavored base) affected or can we still stockpile in NY
Hi, Do you think there’s any chance pmta can be overturned? TIA
Will definitely be jumping into the diy scene as I just came back to vaping this week and boom New York ban.
You will never turn back. I go through juice like it's water, and still spend under $30 per month.
I have saved at least 5-10k over the past 6 years via DIY, it's so easy.
Hi,
I'm not a DIY'er, but just found out about the flavor ban in NY...Which really sucks. I found out because I had an order cancelled. Do I have any options to purchase flavored juice at all anymore?
Only options are drive across state lines or learn Diy. Come September with pmtas everything will be gone unless companies fork over millions to stay on the market.
I'm unclear if when this PMTA goes into affect will nic be banned too? Like ok I'll start diy making but if I get good no matter what will it be hard to get freebase nic or unflavored? Is it even worth learning diy?
People have been talking about a tax. Best option is to stock up on nic since it will last a decent while from reading posts
PMTA doesn't affect nic. But there is a bill on the Senate floor to tax nic so much that no one will be able to afford it. So sooner or later there will be a ridiculous tax on it. The people that are serious about diy need to buy a lifetime supply and freeze it.
What would a lifetime supply amount be in like liters? I'm struggling to figure out how much a 125 ml bottle would last for 6mg amount
can i DIY nic salt
So i can't order and have it juice sent to NY. Are any of my neighboring states like PA or NJ also banned for online sales?
I ordered from riversupply a little over a week ago and they shipped to me. (upstate ny) try them. Just to be clear im talking about diy supplies not premixed juice
Just curious as I read the most up to date comments. Are retailers not shipping diy products (flavors, base nic, pg & vg, etc.) to NY?
As i thought we are still allowed to DIY. Super worried here after reading the most up to date comments places arent even shipping freebase nic, flavors, etc.
So vaping in general is dead or what options are there? Amidst everything kinda got me worried.
EDIT: Seems liquid barn will NOT ship to NY. States in checkout you can order unflavored base but no flavorings. Wth?
I ordered from Riversupply on the 27th and got my order today(upstate NY). They did forget a flavor but everything else looks good and the purnic tastes good. I got VG,PG, nic and a bunch of flavors. unless something has changed since may 27th. check em out
Hit em up too they said business as usual hopefully they wont change after july 1st will order purenic and flavoring planned to order flavoring pg and vg as i went along though
Hey curious as of latest comments. To clarify, is nicotine solutions and flavors banned after July 1st? Saw the recent comments and liquid barn not shipping and getting super anxiety from all of this non specific jargon. Just curious where to and if its possible to still obtain it as im a newbie and if i plan to diy long term dont want to run out of supplies like flavor and pg vg as i go along.
Plan to order the nic and stock up as soon as i know an answer. Or is vaping screwed altogethere here
I talked to Riversupply support today to get my missing flavor sent and asked, they said that so far after the 1st they will still be able to ship to NY
Trying to find a vendor that will sell a 70vg/30pg 6mg unflavored juice to NY. Doesn't look like River Supply does.
They stopped shipping to NY? Thought diy was unaffected
Just tried checking out seems like they do
Please note that RiverSupplyCo is presently unable to ship orders due to a county shutdown order. Vendors for nicotine and basic DIY supplies that are promptly shipping orders at this time include LiquidNicotineWholesalers dot com. (I recently placed an order with them on a Saturday, and had it the following Wednesday.)
Edit: I reached out to RSC and was advised that they are again shipping orders, albeit with limited staffing and a backlog of orders to fill.
River Supply is shipping. There is a slight 4-5 day delay however.
I have received an order from them last week.
Interesting, the last e-mail I got from them said their shutdown was extended until further notice. I've been patiently waiting for an update, as there are several things I've been wanting to order from them. Was there an announcement from RSC that I missed, or are they just flying under the radar?
X2... i got stuff last week, i noticed thier website removed the "closed for covid" thing so i gambled and placed an order. It took a little longer than normal to ship, not everything shipped (which is a forst for me from river supply), and it took a little longer thsn normal to get here, but thats on fedex...
I might just buy their liter of pre-mixed stuff. I would like to not mess around with PG/VG/NIC and just work with the flavors instead.
Premixed isn't the best way to go, it limits your ability to reach target nic and VG/PG ratios and it's honestly not that hard to mix them separately.
It's very very easy to mix PG/VG/nic using a common 25$ food scale and calculators available on all community recipe sites. I dove in last year and haven't looked back, it's so easy and simple that you could teach a child how to do it in 15 minutes, not that you'd want one handling nicotine.
Don't be intimidated!
It's easier than you think. It's just as fast, more accurate, and takes up the least space in your freezer since nic is the only thing that has to be stored. 150ml of 100mg/ml nic lasts me about 14 months
