TFA Vanilla Swirl is sooo strong
submitted over 5 years ago by zentim

So i tried to experiment to make a Mango Hops Vanilla mix based on a craft beer i recently enjoyed. I put in two drops of Vanilla Swirl into my 30ml tester and its overbearing and way creamy, too. Would someone recommend me a Vanilla flavoring that i could use instead?

Flv vanilla bean is straight vanillin. No cream or body to it. Works great when you want straight up vanilla. Using .5% in a mix has great results.

I free-squeeze a few streams of vanilla swirl into random mixes to give it an extra kick. Love the hell out of it. Maybe Shisha vanilla? It's what I go for when I want calmer and smoother vanilla flavors... But I usually end up squeezing in some VS a few tanks into every juice.

What about diluting it so you can get a lower %?

Good call.

I tried it when I ran out of really good vanilla for my fresh coffee. 2 drops in a 10oz travel mug was overwhelming. So this stuff is 3x real vanilla at least lol.

Can dilute like others mentioned.

Might try TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato. It's not as powerful as V Swirl or even VBIC. It's also a bit dry. Has its place in certain mixes.

FA Vanilla Tahiti could be good in a beverage. The texture reminds me of the little dried marshmallows in cereals, but vanilla flavored.

Yeah, you definitely don't want any dairy notes in a beer recipe. Try TFA Vanilla Bourbon Madagascar.

hmmm the notes by conreteriver sound somewhat promising for my use, thanks.

OP may have been confused by milk sugars, or lactose. Imo

Have you tried any other vanilla flavors other than TFA Vanilla Swirl? & At what % have you tried them?

Thanks for all the input guys, i will have to test around and you gave me good ideas. Seems like i am kinda sensitive to creams, when i feel like vanilla swirl is overpowering at 0.25% ...

That's very possible. I typically use tfa vanilla swirl around 2-3% in a mix.

Yeah. It's meant to be a soft-serve ice cream, not a good dietary source of vanilla flavour.

How long did you let that sit?

Probably should go for more like a week and let it breathe every day..Lots of alcohol in that one if I remember. It will definitely be smoother.

You do not need to let anything breath. In fact that's not recommended to do at all. Alcohol will off gas on its own.

TFA Vanilla swirl doesn't contain EA anyways.
