I just bought a few dozen flavors to start making some recipes. I'm close to buying a nail polish rack to store my flavors, but was wondering if they would fare better in a dark enclosed box away from all general indoor light.
Will the flavors be fine if I keep them on a acrylic rack in climate controlled area for ease of use on my mixing shelf? Will my VG, PG and steeping recipes be fine in a similar environment...or must they be in complete darkness?
Thanks in advance
I have just sorted out some of my old concentrates from 2 or more years ago. They've just been kept in a plastic food storage container on a shelf in the corner of my room. Haven't tested them all out but a lot have still kept their taste and smell. Even found a good amount of Inawera Milk Chocolate before the reformulation. Not recommending anyone to even mix with these... But I will do it for my own experimentations.
I have around 130 concentrates, I keep them in dark shoe boxes/black cardboard boxes inside my wardrobe & some under my bed or vanity. Ooh I would love to store them on a nail polish rack too, or have a mixing room, but can't :( I'm thinking about getting either a few makeup storage boxes or just one big storage container to go under my bed. Darkness is the best option.
Most people quickly outgrow nail polish racks. You can always buy more though I suppose. I keeep most of my flavors in an organizer that has several drawers in it. I labeled each drawer and can find what I need pretty quickly.. The organizer stays in a closet. I retrieve what I need come mixing time and put them back afterwards.
I have an old refrigerator in my old dark unfinished part of my basement. It doesn't stay very cold but it is chilled. I have my flavors on the door of the fridge, when I pull them out they are usually not like cold but chilled. Is this a bad thing to do to them or no? I keep my PG/VG in the fridge as well. I also keep my nicotine 10%nic 90%pg in my freezer in split up 60ml bottles filled to the top, I did this so it doesn't oxidize, I heard that was the rite way to do it from someone on here. Im also new to this so any suggestions im willing to take.
I keep all my mixing supplies in the coolest and darkest part of my house, the basement. I tried keeping my flavors in an actual refrigerator but some didn't like that and would crystallize. VG and PG do just fine without refrigeration. My main supply of liquid nicotine in a freezer. I keep one bottle in the fridge for mixing with. Everything else is just in a cool dark place. I don't think it'd hurt VG and PG to be in a fridge but I also don't think it's really necessary either.
Ok thank you. Yaa im new to this and heard cool dark places out of sunlight is the best for the flavors and PG/VG so I figured my fridge wouldn't hurt to keep it in. I also keep the partially empty bottle of nicotine I use to mix in the fridge to keep it from oxidizing the nicotine.
There are these one clear racks at menards that I’ve been getting and they work pretty well from the kitchen section, and I have them exposed to only artificial light only when I’m mixing. Area is in a decently climate controlled basement and the lights get turned off when I leave anyway. Find something that works for now because it WILL change no matter what. I’ve changed my area more times than I can count in the past 2 years and did a MASSIVE swap of everything recently. Just keep making it as easy for YOU as you can to keep mixing.
