Hi,
I recently ordered 3 Shake n Vape bottles from Black Note (the V by Black Note line) because I remembered liking their regular extracted tobacco flavors in the past).
I do like them, but since I tried the original Black Note flavors, my vaping preferences have shifted to more fruity flavors, and I feel like something's missing when I vape them. So I'm looking to spice them up a little with some other flavors.
I was thinking of adding some apple flavor to one of them (since I really like Vermillion River's kentucky applewood flavor, which is tabacco with a bit of apple).
If I get a TFA or Cap Apple bottle, how much do I add to a 100ml bottle? Just a couple of drops? The whole 13-15ml bottle? I'm not sure how strong these are, and I've never really DIY'ed (other than shake n vape stuff).
If anyone has any suggestions or tips, I'd be glad to hear them. Thanks!
Caramel, honey, butterscotch Green apple, plum, raisin Scotch, whiskey, coffee
These would be the flavours I would personally recommend adding to a tobacco flavour but obviously tastes are different, each flavour would vary how much you should add but I would start with 0.5% give it a good shake & a day of steeping then add in 0.5% increments until you're happy
Great question! I have lakatia and oriental by the same manufacturer. Lakatia is too woody and dark for my taste but the oriental is kinda nice. Both being too singular on their own. I know FA has dosage info on their aroma bottles but wouldn’t have an idea what to mix in to give the original flavor some „spice“. Please do an update when you tried out
Please don‘t add the averages suggested by the flavor company. Most of the time they are too high (they may have been good years ago with less powerful gear) and will ruin your mix.
Check alltheflavors.com for the average % of a certain flavor used in a mix. Please. Have a great weekend;)).
If your measuring by drops, I'd say
add 20, shake lots, if you need more, repeat...
Anything up to about two thirds of the (15? ml) bottle won't change it too much but at the higher end of that range (0-10ml) you will notice more of a throat hit and maybe even less of nicotine satisfaction...
Ok, thanks, good tip. I thought I'd have to add some, let it steep for a few days and then try it, which sounds like a painful process - but looks like that wouldn't be needed.
I wouldn‘t add just any apple, know what kind of apple you want first - each apple flavor tastes different - candy, bright, sweet, tart, earthy, dry, natural, artificial, peel-like. Not every apple blends well with tobacco. Noted on YouTube just recently had „apple“ episodes I can highly recommend and you can search this subreddit for flavor reviews.
This is pretty much a one-stop-shop for information on apple flavors (and all the rest). You can read summarized descriptions and get starting percentages or dive deeper if you're interested.
I take it you are not a mixer. There are some good recommendations here for other flavor pairings, so I will stick to the primary question.
Buy Capella Double Apple. This is a blend of green and red apple with just a little juice. Using u/Jasona1121's guidance on syringes, add 2ml of Double Apple to your tobacco juice. That's 2% of 100 ml. We use 1% as a filler (you don't notice the flavor at this level), 3% as a secondary note and 5% as a top note. If 2% isn't enough, add another 0.5 ml (0.5%), shake and try: repeat if necessary.
Personally I'm a new DIYer and not too much help, but I have noticed that most liquids on the market that have apple in them usually tend to use apple as a softening or blending agent. Sometimes they lift up other ingredients and they're rarely used as the main note. So it really depends on what you're looking to do with it. It also depends on the flavor profile you want as well since typically no two apple concentrates are the same.
With all that said I'd look on this sub to see what others have said about particular apple flavors and go onto a vendor's website where you live and check out some of their apple flavors to see which ones seem to jump out at you. The next thing I'd do is look at recipes that use that specific flavor and the average amount they use and start out lower just to test. Maybe get an empty 15ml bottle, a 5ml syringe, a 1ml suringe and a couple lauer lock blunt tip needles from your flavor vendor and use that to measure and combine your liquid tester to combine your concentrate to the small sample batch. That way you can try it out without potentially ruining the whole bottle of Black Note, just keep in mind that you'll also be diluting the nicotine strength when you do so. Other than that ot shouldn't be too hard. At 100ml you're looking at easy math since most recipes are listed in percent. 1% would mean 1 ml of concentrate etcetera etcetera so on and so forth.....
