Mixing issues
submitted over 5 years ago by LilBearLulu

Hello all. I'm very new to DIY and have only been mixing for about 4 or 5 weeks. I noticed that my juices have good flavor on the inhale but on the exhale it's unpleasant. It doesn't taste burnt or chemically or anything like that but maybe it tastes like VG/PG. I know I'm not describing it well but it tastes like vacant on the exhale. I'm using mostly 1-2 flavors plus sweetener and usually flavoring percentages are at around 10% total. it doesn't seem to matter if I vape the juice off the shake or wait a week or two the results are similar. Getting a little annoyed with it but not enough to stop mixing. It's fun and I'm planning my second flavor today. Thanks in advance.

I had exactly the same problem till I stopped smoking. It was an ashen flavour on exhale that the stinkies were leaving in my mouth.

Thankfully I'm down to maybe one cigarette a week only if I'm hanging out with someone who smokes which I'm really not right now. It's not even a nasty taste it tastes more like what Vaseline smells like if that makes sense.

If you use just one or two flavour concentrates and total flavouring is 10%, I'd say you probably used them way too high. What flavours and/or recipes did you use?

by juthincover 5 years agoI improved Grack and all I got was this lousy flair

Try instead....

1% INW Cactus
2% CAP Double Apple
3% CAP Sweet Tangerine
(add WS-23 to taste)

too much of some flavors is a bad thing.

Also, do you vape commercial juice still? You may be suffering sucralose withdrawal on your own juices. It takes time to regain the ability to taste without having insane amounts of sweetener present.

I can't seem to wean myself off of my favorite naked very cool nic salts. Amazing taste and clears my sinuses all at once. During allergy season it's really helping 🤣 Yes I found myself having to add a few more drops of sweetener otherwise everything was just too bland. I'm going to try your recipe suggestion tonight because this weird tasting stuff is just too off-putting to vape anymore. Thank you

Single flavors don't ever do it for me. 99% need supporting flavors. I highly recommend finding recipes that interest you and buying flavors for those.

Thanks. I'm definitely going to pick up some more flavors tonight. It's just so much cheaper than buying ejuice once you got the PG VG and nic already. Any favorite flavors I shouldn't forget to buy?

When I was first purchasing flavors I bought for highly rated recipes on alltheflavors. It gives you a starting point. Find a few that interest you and go from there.

Flavors you shouldn't forget depend on what you like. I vape a lot of recipes that use strawberry, cheesecake, ice cream, butterscotch, blueberry, or apple. I just started exploring recipes with banana or cereal in them.

It'll help if you share what flavors you've been mixing with, and the percentages that you're using them at. Also, what brand and concentration nicotine are you using?

Cactus (Kaktus) (Inawera) Cotton Candy (TPA) Double Apple (Cap) Dragon Fruit (Pitaya) (Inawera) Dragonfruit (TPA) Papaya (TPA) Pomegranate (TPA) Super Sweet (Cap) Sweet Tangerine (Cap) Watermelon Sweet (Cap) WS-23

Nic came from Rivers. 100 mg in pg. I tried these flavors from .25 all the way up to to 6%. I really don't like INW cactus even at 0.25 I can taste it.

What percent WS-23? It has an awesome effect, but is a flavor killer for me.

Usually a drop or 2 per 10ml.

So INW cactus is a really divisive flavor. I love it and mix it at 2% with 0.75% ws-23, but that's cause I'm a freak. Maybe consider using a couple drops of it at a time to add juiciness to a recipe, but anything above that may be giving you the weird exhale you mentioned. Unfortunately I don't have experience with the other flavors. As for nicotine, maybe try mixing a small batch without nicotine and see if that fixes the issue. I was using nic from liquid barn for a while and then recently switched to liquid nicotine wholesale and there's much less weird flavor on my exhales.

Thanks I'm going to try that tonight 0 nic and see how it goes. Are you the one that posted that cactus recipe you just mentioned online? I was thinking of mixing it up to see if I actually don't like it. I see it in so many recipes that's why I picked it up.

What I usually do is look up a flavor say cap double apple and read all the notes. Then I mix at the mid-range of the single flavor recommendation percent. So in the case of cap double Apple 5% or 6%. Then I had it sweetener and ws-23. Usually one drop of each per 10mg juice. My first order was a bit of a disaster because it came right when this Corona thing was starting to really get going so I got about half of what I ordered from 2 stores and none of it was enough to mix any of the recipes I liked. I've been vaping with pod devices for over a year so I am not even used to flavors with undertones or anything like that. I picked up a boost juice to try juice vs nic salts all the time. I definitely liked salts better so that's the type of nicotine I bought. I'm not a cloud chaser so I think I might switch it up and do 60/40 or 50/50.

>I might switch it up and do 60/40 or 50/50.

What ratio are you using if you're not using the ratios recommended for pods? Your problem may be the result of too high VG. 1 drop per 10ml of sweetener and ws-23 with a single fruit flavor should be good.

I have been making 70/30 and trying the flavors in an Aegis Boost which can take salts or freebase.

It would help to know what flavors your using. This is a very common thing with strawberry. That's why you should layer flavors that compliment each other. Such as strawberry and CAP VBIC, DX BC. Also, only 1 or 3 drops of sweetener is needed or you will burn your coils fast. I can not stress this enough, steep, steep steep.

I've tried all of these in percentages from barely anything to maybe by 6%. Some were horrific but like the apple and watermelon as a solo isn't bad.

I've stuck to fruit for now because steep times don't seem to be as long.

In all of these mixes with off taste, are they all using Cactus? Cactus for me has quite the aloe taste as low as .75%

You know I'm not positive. I make something up and then I try it off the shake and then wait a few days. Since I haven't really liked anything I just delete the recipe and start over. I think they've all might have had a few drops in there like .25 since I saw it adds juicyness to fruits. I'm going to try both those recipes posted that use it and see if it's really just this flavor bugging me.

Imo. the Set Up play a highly underestimated Role,

even the best Juice can test bad when the Temp is too high/ low or your used coil is not good for Fruit- or Nut- or Cream Mix.

etc.

Try to have a look for it and don’t use Sweetener now,

you can use it later but not in the beginning!
