Grainy Specks in FLV Popcorn
submitted over 5 years ago by InappropriateTA

Is there anything specific about this flavor (i.e. a component ingredient) that could result in something ‘precipitating’ out of solution? Or is this something that is a general indication of some kind of contamination/impurity?

Thanks!

I haven’t used any, I got it second-hand from another user on here and I was going through and ‘cataloging’ everything and noticed it.

There’s maybe 8 mL left in a 10mL bottle.

I have maybe a similar experience with my FA blood orange. The "grainy specks" are miniscule, maybe too small to see, but it definitely does need a good shake before use. I ordered it this winter, so I assumed it was in my cold mailbox for too long.

I wouldn’t call these miniscule, I can definitely see them. They’re white-ish, irregularly-shaped, ‘chunky’ things that sink.

I keep my supplies in a cabinet in an area where the temperature stays between 68-72°F so I don’t think anything got too cold.

Read my comment above. Typically happens when n transport when gets too cold and have to warm it up to point when compound dissolved back in. Hot water bath will do the trick. 68-72 is good for storage but not warm enough to dissolve back in

If you warm it up they mix back into the flavor. I’ve emailed them about this and they said it is just one of the compounds that can solidify when the flavor gets too cold. I put mine in a hot water bath and it dissolved back in. Have kept it at room temperature storage and haven’t had problem since. I ordered mine in winter from Bull City so likely happened in transport

There are a lot of flavors this can happen to. Menthol is one that it happens to often as well and several others from variety of companies
