So I wanted to try some unflavored juice and I bought a nicotine salt shot at the strength of 20mg. But it is so much harsher on the throat than any nic salt flavored juice I ever vaped at the same strength. Anybody knows why? The pg vg ratio is the one I'm used to as well.
20mg in a pod system is fine but anything else ESPECIALLY sub ohm, you need to lower the strength to about half of that. (10mg) It will be way too harsh otherwise.
It is vaped in a pod just like the rest of the 20mg juice I tried. But it is still unusually harsh.
Forgive my ignorance We dont have nic shots where im at. Tell me: The nic shots 20mg does that refer to, before mixing or after? And Is the nic shot pg or vg or a ratio like 7030 or 5050? And lastly If you add some vg something like 5, 10, or 15% does the harshness come down a bit?
It refers to 20mg/ml before mixing it with anything else. The ratio varies by nic shot, mine is 70vg 30pg. And yes vg will reduce harshness, but will also make the juice thicker. If you are using a pod you have to be careful not to make it too thick, because this can lead to dry hits.
what brand is it? Also, what kind of Nic Salt. i.e malate, Benzoate etc. The reason I ask is that some are harsher than others
The brand is Top Shot and it is nicotinyl salicylate. Is that considered harsh?
No it isn‘t, but 20mg/ml is a lot and doesn’t feel too great imho. Commercial juice is not made with 20mg/ml nic shots. It is made with much higher nicotine concentrations, meaning that a 120 ml ejuice contains maybe 5 ml nicotine, 20 ml flavors, 95 ml base (fictive example), which will make the ejuice much smoother. Also take into consideration that most commercial ejuice contains additives to smoothen the high flavor percentages and thus, it might make it overall smoother.
TPD2 doesn’t allow this - it’s also not really necessary to vape such high levels of nicotine.
