I’ve been steeping this for two months at 4%. Barely any flavor and hasn’t darkened like most tobaccos. Did I get a bad batch or is this a light flavor? Thanks
Oh yeah 4% is way too high. In a mix I wouldn't go over 1% and single flavor you might be able to take it 2%. Also depends on your setup what % well be perfect.
It just seems like a dull concentrate like when it was dispensed to the 10ml from the flavor house it wasn’t shaken or something. I read reviews about it being bold but I’m not getting it. Unless 4% makes it mute itself. I use 22mm RDA’s that are flavor bangers on everything else.
Pushing certain flavors too high can push them out of their profile and distort the intended flavor profile or bring in offnotes. I would test at 1% and compare the difference. Did you get it from them or a reseller? They are usually pretty good if you reach out. I know Bryson runs their Discord and has answered questions for me there before
Not light at all IMO, but not a tobacco flavor either. It has a very small hint of leaf, but a more prevalent coffee and cocoa-ish note. I usually use it 0.3-0.75% and havent had a problem detecting it.
What color is your concentrate? Mine is pretty much clear
Yeah thats probably the issue then, you may have gotten a mislabeled bottle. Mine is very dark and has a soy/coffee smell to it.
I would check out red burley and native tobacco by Flv they make a wonderful pairing...I also lpve adding flv sweet and smokey tobacco to all my tobacco mixes it adds a warm sweetness that reminds me of a swisher sweet wood tip...oh Inw vanilla for pipe is also a must have flavor
Thanks. I have those too. I was making testers of all of them and the CS was the one that didn’t seem to do anything even after a 2 month steep.
FLV tobaccos change a lot over time- I find they’re usually bold when fresh, then they get weaker, then at around 2 weeks they get bolder again, but are very different to when they are fresh.
It's good to flavour test everything solo, at least once. Once you've tried it solo, Connecticut Shade is made to be an additional flavour. Best used as an accent for one of their main tobaccos.
I don't intend to sound rude, but 4% is ridiculous for FLV, especially their tobaccos. Mix it at 1% and steep for 3 weeks, then try, see what you think ☺️
I use FA Shade in some recipes and though it is called a tobacco, it is very, very mild. And it doesn't darken up like most tobaccos. In fact, the one recipe I use it most in also has FA Forest Mix, a couple different vanillas, and a touch of Oakwood--and the vanilla and Oakwood are what turns darker in that one.
You might try a little Oakwood to give any Shade variety a little boost--that subtle note helps the Shade quite a bit, IMO.
Burley and the gold Virginias are what I use when I want a stronger tobacco flavor. Trying some 7 leaves here soon (just ordered this afternoon) to see how it is.
