Newbie looking for advice on smooth nic salt vendors
submitted over 5 years ago by samuryan89

Hi all, newbie looking to prepare for the vapocalypse. In the distant past, I had occasionally ordered nicotine salts from Nude Nicotine (the smooth kind), which I would then add to premixed 0mg juices from various vendors. I hate the harshness of regular freebase, and NN's smooth salts worked quite well. Having spent some time lurking on this subreddit, I've gotten the impression that NN isn't a great vendor (I've had my own share of poor experiences around leaking or oxidized nicotine).

I was planning on placing an order with Nic River (they have a "smooth" salt that I was going to try), but their recent shutdown has ended that decision. I've read a lot of different opinions on various vendors, but am looking specifically for opinions on which vendors have the smoothest salts. I'll be mixing for friends and family who also like a smooth juice, and this nic salt should be smooth for anywhere between 3mg-30mg. I'd prefer it to be in PG. Anyone have any recommendations?

I've used salt from both Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers and Liquid Barn both have been fine. Not overly harsh, but I've not mixed any higher than 15mg so I can't say how it would be around 30mg.

NudeNicotine is a fine vendor, their products are high quality but haven't been as popular here because their prices are a bit higher than LNW or RiverSupplyCo.

I've only heard complaints about customer service and long delivery time. I've never heard anything before about off quality. They are slow from ordering to shipping but my quality has always been top notch.

> long delivery time

Yeah, they mix and bottle to order for maximum freshness. That is a good thing.

I get mine from Nicotine River. It’s really good, but as you say, they are shut down till further notice. I’ve ordered freebase from Liquid Nicotine Wholesalers, but not salt. They might be worth looking at.

I wouldn't go any higher than 6mg using freebase nic.

The difference between "smooth" and "harsh" salts are the acids used to turn em into salts, from my understanding.
Salicylate salt are the smoothest, and most likely what NN sells as their "smooth" line and most likely what LNW carries.
Benzoic salts are more harsh and most commonly used, especially in juul and stuff, but can turn to benzene gas at 350c so i stay away from it in my sub-ohms. I love salicylate and am perfectly happy with LNW, though all they've said is that it's not benzoic.

I don’t go past 3. 😂 Their freebase is good, so I figure their salt would be too. I’ve just never ordered salt from them. Gives you another option to look at.

Nude Nicotine has been a great vendor for me and I buy all my smooth salt nic from them. They produce their own PATENTED nic extracts themselves from start to finish. I have had nothing but great customer service from them. It frustrates me that one time they had a computer program glitch that caused some issues, and that some online rants have seemed to permanently done damage to thier reputation. For me, Nude Nicotine has been a consistently great company to work with for the last year. I buy all my nic from them, and I love the quality. Please keep in mind that salt nic does change color on it's own, and when mixed, because of the chemical make up, but it does not mean it is oxidized like freebase nic when it does. I store mine in the freezer in smaller glass bottles, sealed with room to expand, and then baggied. I keep some to work with in a cool, dark cabinet, in a dark blue PET bottle. Smooth salt nic does not interfere with flavors as much and has the lowest throat hit. I use it myself daily at 3 mg in a tank. No higher than 6mg for tanks. However for a POD or MTL recipe, NN smooth salt nic can be used safely much higher and with great results. Hope this helps.
