Original post here!
I had no luck with the store, but after many hours of mixing, tasting, and back-and-forth with my MIL, I've finally made a juice she likes. She likes it even better than the store's stuff. It's about 95% of the way to being the same juice (I couldn't figure out the last little notes), but it has a slightly stronger Green Apple/Strawberry presence, and that was right up her alley. Once again, many thanks for all of the encouragement and recommendations. As promised, here is the final result (I couldn't figure out how to publish it properly, so this is just a share link): https://alltheflavors.com/recipes/share/434de9c9-624d-499a-8426-7ac2b57c4d11
You never said what the juice was (apologies if you did; I didn't see it and probably wouldn't know it anyway). Interesting recipe. So, what is missing/different? Describe the notes and maybe we can help.
Some kind of generic 'fruitish' note, and that's all I can narrow it down to. We're happy with the results though
Additives in low %:
Pear for juicy volume
Cactus for juicy volume
Dragon fruit to blend flavors
ethyl maltol for sweet and make fruits "pop"
Just some suggestions.
Out the jerks for not helping you out even tho their business is kaput

Same thing happened to me in a little shop in northern minnesota. I conversed a bit with the guy at the shop. I expressed my displeasure with everything that's going on in the news and all that. Said I would miss the place. I asked about their juice line. They told me the juices will just die.
I asked if they'd be willing to share the recipe for one. I was willing to give them a hundred bucks for the nostalgia factor and creativity. Before I could offer, they "big timed" me. This was said, "Yeah we'd share it if the money is right. People are getting a thousand bucks for their recipes." Really dude? Nobody cares about your house juices except the people who'll miss them. The guys have always been high on themselves. I'd bet my life on nobody pays them a grand for one recipe. It's not like I wanted to manufacture their flavor west house juice on a large scale.
I don't know why I thought there might have been a chance. They've always been dickheads unless you were spending hundreds of dollars in there. I drove an hour both ways for a long shot. Dickheads will be dickheads though.
She likes a specific flavor, she's not dependent on it, experiment with similar flavors till you find something she can live with.
Yes and no.
She's very particular about what she likes. She's getting older and I think it brings her some sense of comfort or normalcy if she can latch on to flavors, routines, etc. We had tried several commercial juices, almost every recipe that I mix, and a fair number of the house mixed juices from my local shop before finding one that did the trick for her.
I'm going to keep mixing and sending things for her to try, but with the store closing and her smoking cigarettes with the other flavors I was sending her way, I wanted to give her something she'd be satisfied with now, and I succeeded.
From here, I'm going to experiment with these flavors to see if I can't hammer out a few recipes that she enjoys.
Since the store is closing you could try to ask them for the source/recipe, no harm trying.
Buying liquid from the store is like throwing away money.
I agree. I mix all of my own juices. It's way more cost effective, and the quality is way more consistent.
For my MIL, however, she would only vape one particular recipe from a local shop until I came up with a similar recipe that she enjoys. Now she gets her juice for less than 1/3rd the cost of the store's stuff. DIY is awesome
Based on your recipe, you might want to give CAP Green Apple Hard Candy a try.
Is that kind of like a green apple Jolly Rancher?
That was so kind of you to try and help her keep off the cig. That was alot of work and time.
So glad you outed that shop - I despise having to deal with people like that. Awful.
Haven't done any DIY. Looked at your recipe and thought "Oh no I've got alot to learn". Looks complicated. And you deserve props for the whole deal you've been through.
I'd pay them No Mind for their dumb in house juice. I'm very impressed that you've learned all of this. Congrats!
Green apple has been a fickle beast in my opinion. Largely because there's some alcohol in most of the flavour concentrates I've used.
Currently working with Lorann's, Liquid barn, and Flavorah's versions of Green apple, and I don't want to go back to any of the others I've tried. TPA green apple vapes like battery acid, even if you attempt to get the alcohol to evaporate at room temperature.
Edit: does the local store have a website?
Gonna have to find a new juice. This has happened to me in the past. Only solution is to go to other local vape hops and test different flavors. Problem with that, is that right now most vape shops have eliminated testing flavors due to COVID. She may need to stock up on her flavor until COVID calms down and she can go around and test flavors. Either that, or find a recipe online that mimics her flavor and make your own. Or if the vape shop is nice enough, maybe they give you the recipe.
I feel like she would enjoy a good unicorn milk recipe based off of the recipe you posted
There is nothing milky there. I’m confused
