INW Shisha Strawberry reformulation?
submitted over 5 years ago by SmoothVillano

I recently received my order from Nic River and today I finally finished my old 4oz Shisha Strawberry bottle and proceeded to open my new 2oz one and the new 15ml one it tastes totally diferent, like not even remotely close to the old one, did they reformulate it? Or maybe it was mislabeled at Nic Riv? It tastes similar to FA Juicy Strawberry now.

Welcome to the world of Inawera reformulation. They've been doing it for a while now, without telling anyone. They buggered one of my recipes the same way.

Seen this comment a few times lately. The only INW flavor I happen to have is Cactus. Question: has it always tasted like an aloe leaf being blended then force-fed to you through a tube, or did it used to be decent?

You can just give me all your inw cactus and I'll keep mixing it standalone at 2% 👍🏻

I don't know (I've never used their cactus).

Some people like it as a a main and heavy supporting flavor. I also can taste the overwhelming aloe at low percentages (.5-.75%) I seem to get off notes with a few of their flavors. Another being Dragon fruit. It tastes like a muddled fruit mixed with coconut and the way baby powder smells. Cherries also gets weird above .75% with almost an earthy stemmy clove spice. I do love their lemon mix, Grape, Shisha flavors though.

Yeah I was actually just saying in a different thread how .5% is a lot with cactus, that's honestly too much for me, it overpowers everything and leaves an aloe taste in my mouth for hours.

Dragonfruit though I have the opposite feeling, I think it's great. Brings out a little moisture and helps blend other fruit flavors without overpowering them imo. Plus it's a lot less strong for me (I've done up to 4% without it becoming the main flavor) and if I ever overdo it at least it's a lot more palatable to me.

No. There was an old Cactus before this version took over. I've read that people loved the older one better. You know, the same old saying "Is this Cactus new? They ruined it!!! Damn you Inawera .."

How high are you using it?

I try not to even use more than .5%. Even at that amount it's always overpowered the other fruits I mixed with.

This will screw thousands of awesome recipes. If they changed Shisha Strawberry then I'm done with INW completely.

Come to think of it I have a backup 60ml of Strawberry Shisha purchased about 3 months ago. I should test it before I run out of my old stock.

Well this might explain some things. I'm a brand new mixer and this was the most recommended strawberry. I tried to mix it with a vanilla ice cream base and I thought it was completely terrible. I ordered all my stuff in the last month.

What would you use instead?

CAP Sweet Strawberry is the closest one, but then it's not even close sadly

I had a similar problem with the same flavor from Nic River (Supply) from the holiday sales last year. I've ordered twice from them, total of 40+ flavors, and 5 of those are wrong, as in, they put the wrong flavor in the bottle, or put the wrong sticker on a bottle for someone else's order.

The Shisha Strawberry I got from them is a buttery pie crust. Not a bad flavor, but definitely not Shisha Strawberry. Messed up a 100ml bottle of a recipe.

Add in the fact that I've only gotten brown stanky nicotine from them, and that their VG gives me zits, and I'm done with them. They're cheap for a reason... corners are being cut.

Dammit. How does the new formulation taste?

If it is a new formulation and not some mistake by Nic River... Oh boy, it's horrible, all the sweet and syrupy delicious strawberry is gone, it tastes pretty muted and kind of like a berry mix with some pretty mediocre strawberry.

FUCK. I loved Shisha strawberry.

Inawera is also known for "bad batches". Lets hope that happened in this case. Shisha Strawberry is a wildly popular flavor.

I got in (2) 100ml of Shisha Strawberry last week from e-aromashop and they are both fine. They are not re-bottled, getting to the point that I no longer want re-bottled unless it is a small sample to test, then order direct from the mfg.

Inawera did ruin there Apricot for me, hate that and it was ordered direct, they just reformulated.

When things settle down after this virus I am going to start ordering direct. Have had too many variations from different rebottlers. I even got (2) 120ml bottles of super sweet from 2 different rebottlers and it was different, almost like the source bottle was not shaken or stirred prior to filling. Same happened with another flavor, just ruins mixes.

I don't recall ever having these problems before but the last about 6 months it has been bad and not just 1 rebottler either.
