Buckle Up! I’m Heading In! (Mixing 1st batch today)
submitted over 5 years ago by BoredNarwhale

That said, I received my first order flavors, nic, and such from Heartland Vapes yesterday! Only complaint about that is on of the bottles of VG could have had the cap tightened just a little bit more...no major loss, maybe a teaspoon, if that. Otherwise, everything was rapped up nice, safe and secure.

So anyway, just gonna mix up a couple 10ml samples of some simple fruit flavors, and a couple with Koolada. I feel pretty confident about what I’m doing because of all the information I have received from the folks on this sub. So Thanks!

UPDATE! Was ready to go and discovered my old kitchen scale only did grams, not even .10...

Because I’m kind of shaky, there’s no way I was was gonna try to do drops and measure it out with syringes, so I boxed it back up and ordered a proper scale. Should get it tomorrow and will try again

My order from River Supply just shipped like 10 minutes ago. When i mix I'm just winging it mostly. Learned here and from YouTube, but don't have a scale so it should be fun.

The price on the LB-501 skyrocketed at a lot of retailers. Liquid Barn still advertises it as part of their scale kit for $35. It’s the scale and 5 bottles...

I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at the AWS LB-501, but that thing's like $50-75 depending on where you get it from...

You can get just about any 0.01g scale. They obviously are not all created equally, but there are plenty of "pretty good" scales for under $20 if the 501 is sitting at some absurdly high price currently.

I have this one as a back up and it works pretty well all things considered. It has trouble with weights below 0.03g but that can be worked around pretty easily.

Not using a scale isn’t fun imho. The AWS LB 501 is one of the best out there, it can be used with batteries or be plugged in and it won‘t shut off while you’re mixing and calibration weights are included. If you buy a cheaper one, make sure you can calibrate it and that it measures 0.01g.
Have fun and stay safe!

Just a heads up. It will shut off during mixing when it's battery powered. It doesn't while plugged in. Still having the option for batteries is great. Never know if we'll be mixing during an apocalypse lol.
