Allergic to sucralose
submitted over 5 years ago by gratefulme25

I'm trying to get into diy. My girlfriend is allergic to sucralose. Is there somewhere we can find recipes that don't include sucralose? I have to assume she isn't the only one with this problem.

Though it is not complete, there is a safety list that has flavours with sucralose in it.

You don‘t have to use sucralose, sweetener is always optional. I believe that NN has a Monk Fruit Sweetener for DIY (Nude Nicotine) and another vendor has a Stevia Sweetener for DIY. You shouldn’t use just anyone off of Amazon or from a supermarket, since a lot of them have additives, which aren’t safe to vape. The bigger problem I see would be flavors in general, because a lot of single flavors have sucralose added to them. You would have to research every flavor you use individually and adhere to the companies that have willingly given access to SDS files (not every company does that).

How allergic is she? Maybe she just shouldn’t vape. I would think her health should be a priority. If she just needs nicotine, there’s the option of vaping PG/VG and nicotine without flavoring (unjuice). Be safe!

Same feelings here. If she’s allergic to the point of it being a major health risk it’s best just not to vape at all.

If it’s a minor allergy and she still insists on vaping then research every flavor you intend to use to limit the exposure to Sucralose. With the lack of information about some flavors, it’d be in her best interest to single test each flavor before considering using it in a mix. (Granted everyone who is trying to develop their own recipes takes that step in the first place.) In this situation you want to establish if there is any adverse reaction with one specific flavor before combining them.

Basically, you want to take a careful scientific approach to your process. If that seems like to much work just substitute vaping with something else like baking, art, reading, rock climbing, or well you get the point.

It is a minor allergy. She started noticing shortness of breath and mouth sores, and just randomly asked me if there was any chance there could be sucralose in it. I think with the list above we should be able to steer clear from it. I was bacially hoping that someone had already made a list of recipes that don't contain it, but I guess with time using the flavor list above I can manage one on my own.

Good to hear your taking precautions. Some due diligence in your flavor research should help to avoid or limit the exposure to Sucralose. Most of us DIY so we can mix without additional sucralose but unfortunately it is still in some concentrates

I try to just stay away from sweeteners to begin with. I’ve found that most of the time the flavors are sweet enough on their own.

You know, when I first heard of people not adding sweetener I thought that sounded crazy because I love strong flavors. However, I came across a sale I could not pass up on a place that uses no additional sweetener and I honestly could tell no difference! I find the sweet juices a bit much after using this juice for quite a while.

I used some shop juice not too long ago. I burnt my coil super fast and got so sick of it. I can’t use shop juice ever again.

Has she had problems vaping commercial juice? Any sweet commercial juice will have way more Sucralose than any DIY recipe. Some Flavors contain Sucralose so if you're trying to avoid it completely that might take some work

Most flavors do not contain it. I've made my own juice for years because I hate sucralose. I've never used it. Other options out here of you find vg pg and flavoring not sweet enough..

Some of the best recepies use zero sucralose and I tried to avoid inhaling it all together. The problem is that a lot of flavours contain sweetener so you'll have to check but the obvious ones will include the word "sweet" in them. Flavorah have a sweeter that isn't sucralose, maybe check it out.

River Supply has a stevia sweetener I'm trying out. Si far so good. Seems about half as sweet as Super Sweet.

If you mix your own, I'm not sure how to find out which flavors already have sucralose, but if you need a sweetener that tastes good and is sucralose free then Google Rick's sugar mama sweetener. It's a pretty goods sucralose free sweetener that came out a few months ago.

Rick's Sugar Daddy definitely contained sucralose. Did he release a sucralose-free version?

Yeah a few months back called sugar mama. Sucralose free. It's not quite as good but it isn't bad either. I have not a clue what's in it, but you can get it at wizard labs.

Is it in VG? I read that the first one was in VG

Just don't use it when you make a recipe. It's totally unnecessary.

P.s. ignore my flair.

I know there's the CAP line of flavors that use Stevia as their sweetener. There may be others...

You know I'm not sure to be honest. Apparently wizard labs doesn't actually carry it, they only have sugar daddy which I love. The only place I see has it is one stop diy and they are out of stock at the moment.

Easier said than done when a lot of these flavors have sucralose in them.

Not that many. What's your favorite flavors/profiles? I wasn't being a smartass, I'm here to help.

Sucralose is in many flavors

Not that many are on the flavor sheet because not every flavor house lists sucralose. I’m also here to help OP, which is why I wanted to point out there are tons of flavors that have sucralose in them. That’s something you can’t avoid, didn’t think you were trying to be a smart ass, nor am I. If there is an allergy to sucralose, and it could potentially be gnarly, it’s worth noting imo.

I can think of several “Sweet” Capella flavors off the top of my head that are popular in this sub and do/most likely have sucralose in the flavoring itself.

My comment history is filled with recipes and flavor notes in this sub, if you were still curious as to what I like to mix & vape on.
