Flavoring Recommendations
submitted over 5 years ago by tacokeaton

Hey everyone, about to take the plunge into DIY and super pumped to get mixing my own liquids. I have been reading up here, watching videos and have a good understanding of how to mix, but I was hoping to get some recommendations on any versatile, fun, or must have flavorings that I should pick up with my first order.

I already have a few recipes picked out that I specifically want to make and will buy the flavorings for, but I do want to pick up a few others so I can get a little creative. I like to vape lots of different profiles, from fruits to bakery/dessert flavors, and candies.

Any recommendations on must have flavors, or must mix recipes? Thanks for the help, looking forward to getting started!

It's better if you just pick a few more recipes and get those flavors. You'll still be able to get creative with the flavors you have and you won't be relying on random suggestions, half of which could be flavors you already have in your cart.

Oh I know that is what I have heard... The problem is that I am so indecisive when it comes to not only eliquid, but pretty much anything. What to eat at a restaurant, what to drink at the bar, blah blah. Looking at recipes on all the flavors is like a massive menu which makes it so hard to choose! lol

That's analysis paralysis for you. There really are too many choices if you don't have some method of narrowing the selection. Might get a few helpful tips here.

Keep in mind that you can always pick up more flavors on your second order and use the first one as a way to learn and give you time to research.

'My first order flavors' link seems to be dead

Picking a few recipes that are well rated to start of with is a solid suggestion. Also, have you read the recommended first order flavor posts in the about section?

Developed did a few episodes for beginners and made a list of flavours to buy first- o es that are used often, versatile, fairly easy to use etc

https://youtu.be/DEhbko4w-aA

The link to the list is in the description. I don’t think they were saying buy all of those flavours right away. I think there’s a fair few on there. But it might help you out. They did 2-3 episodes for beginners along with the one I linked.

Have you watched Noted? There’s really useful for info on flavours and info generally.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRP3MfkHmZ1_2-Z3W-Nh0qpidD4JyvJVD

There’s a link to a list of flavour reviews for loads of flavours in the sidebar as well.

Welcome to the never ending search for flavours!

Thanks for the reply! All but the butterscotch are already on my list, so I'll have to add that!

What I do is pick a profile I'd like to explore. Watch Noted episodes on YT, search FOTW posts here and google for reviews before I buy. This should leave you with 1-3 flavors, which in a best case scenario have different uses and/or can complete a profile when combined.

FW yogurt, Tfa Marshmallow, OOO chocolate milk, and Cap super sweet. You can make Diyordie chocolate milk. Fa meringue, Cap sweet strawberry, Fa red touch, Tfa Vbic or LB vanilla ice cream and FW Razzle Berry

In my experience these are some of the most versatile flavorings for mixing purposes:

TFA VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM - CAP VANILLA CUSTARD V1 - TFA STRAWBERRY - TFA RIPE STRAWBERRY - CAP SUGAR COOKIE.

And here are some flavorings that I've found do incredibly well just by themselves:

CAP SWEET GUAVA - CAP LEMON MERINGUE - FA FUJI - LA LEMONADE.

those should all be a good addition to your first purchase, good luck with DIY!

Thanks for the reply! Think I have all of these in the cart already except for the lemon meringue, which sounds awesome

Chose from the trinity’s and you can’t go wrong. Once you get the hang of the process the trinities make it an easy transition into creating your own recipes from by adding/ subtracting, increase/decrease flavor profile.

Oh, and welcome to DIY!

Edit:

Also read the Safety Compendium if you haven’t.

Dude the trinity's are super helpful, that looks like an awesome place to start aside from the couple recipes that I already have picked out to mix.

Thanks, looking forward to the never ending possibilities of DIY

If you like tropical type flavors Flavourart's new Mango (Indian Special) is very good. I also love Wonder Flavors Papaya flavor. It's the best one I've tried so far, and I've tried a lot of them..

Don't follow my lead. I ordered like $300 worth of flavoring at the begining, have about 60 60/120mls of random mixes, and for the most part all I vape is the leaked unicorn milk recipe. I'm stocked up for any vapocalypse with the lifetime supply of juice I have in my freezer though.

As for must have flavors, cap sweet Strawberry, cap vanilla custard, cap sugar cookie, and Shisha vanilla are my staples.

Do you have JF strawberry sweet? I skipped over CAP Sweet Strawberry because everyone said it was weak and fades and that JF strawberry sweet is just better. It's also in the trinity

Haven't tried JF. I've had TFA strawberry, tfa strawberry ripe, and Shisha strawberry. Can't stand Shisha, tfa's are good when you mix them together, but cap ss is probably my most used flavor. I've never had a problem with it fading, but I let mine steep for 2 or 3 weeks and it's still fantastic.

You're one of the lucky ones. The unlucky ones can't even taste strawberry flavors. I can taste them all so I consider myself lucky

Before I place a DIY flavor order, I order only those flavors which I will need to make 3 or more recipes, then I order all the flavors for those recipes. After I receive the flavors, I test them as standalone single flavors. These tests are important because they will give me a feel for taste and strength. I'm not looking for excellent taste, but more on how they might interact in a mix/known recipe. I find that very few single/standalone flavors can be used by themselves.

Might like to study:
